Awesome little cafe right on the beach. Such a nice location right on the sand with covered seating and very walkable right next to the ocean. I had a vanilla latte which was superb!! The breakfast burrito was delicious! Also they have a really good waffle and Nutella toast.

    Matcha latte with honey

I'm going to be so honest, my friend and I went for matcha and this was the closest cafe near us, we both ordered an iced matcha latte with honey. this takes number one in the worst matcha latte that's ever sat on my tongue, my taste buds might have disintegrated, it's been 9 hours and I can still feel it on my tongue. It had a grainy texture that I didn't love and I couldn't taste the honey which was extra. Straight up milk. Sadly I didn't get a good picture of my drink before I threw it

This is going to be my new go to spot by the beach. Really loved that there was actual seating in case you wanted to stop by for a quick bite by the beach. I got the acai bowl and requested extra berries over the banana and they were able to accommodate. Everyone's super friendly and just a 10/10 vibe.

I was going to walk past West Toast Cafe because I figured they would have the usual hamburgers, hot dogs and fries. I'm glad my husband suggested checking out the menu. I was surprised to find that in addition to burgers, they had breakfast bagels and breakfast burritos, avocado toast, açaí bowls and Venezuelan arepas - a stuffed cornmeal patty. They use organic, locally-sourced ingredients and are plastic-free, using 100% biodegradable products. The breakfast burrito ($14.99) had organic eggs, bacon, hash browns and cheese and came with a side of salsa and guasacaca sauce (avocado, cilantro and bell pepper). It's on the smaller side and not one of those gut busting breakfast burritos. I tried The Queen arepa ($14), which was stuffed with a mixture of chicken, avocado, onions and cheese. They also have one with tuna and a vegetarian one with black beans. The ingredients were all fresh and it was a refreshing change from the normal beach food. Food is probably closer to four stars, but I'm giving West Toast five stars since food of this quality is totally unexpected for the location. They have several tables where you can sit and enjoy the lovely view.

This is a MUST try when visiting San Clemente. The food is delicious and the vibes are perfect literally on the sand on the beach trail, just south of the San Clemente Pier. The staff is always friendly and helpful with food options. My personal favorite is the avocado toast with tomatoes, pickled onions and herbs (I add a fried egg for extra protein). Their coffee choices are also great. Recommend!

I'm so happy to have found this place, because this shack/cafe beyond met expectations! In an effort to prevent being long-winded, I've made bullet points about what I appreciated about this place: - Right on the sand - Semi-shaded bench seating available - Located by the pier, a cute & walkable street, and the Amtrak train tracks - By a scenic walking trail - Delicious food! Their breakfast variety had both the classics as well as some Venezuelan options. The Queen Arepa was super fresh and filling. The Breakfast Burrito was the perfect size and honestly one of the best I've tasted. - Tasty drinks in cute cups! The Yerba Matte Latte options were unique and yummy - Eco-friendly plates/utensils/straws, esp since you're right by the water Will recommend to everyone!

Breakfast with a view, heck yeah! We had a party of 12 adults plus 4 small kids. Patience is key here if you visit WTC on a weekend. Order your food and enjoy the view while you wait for space to sit. There are 5 large tables. We had various items and each one was fresh and tasty. This was our first time visiting WTC, next time we'll bring chairs and eat on the beach and watch the surfers while enjoying our breakfast.

This cute little cafe on the beach is exactly what you need for your beach day or even just a walk on the beach like I took. They have a few tables to eat at or a standing kind of bar that folds up and down. They have quite the selection on the menu but it was after my walk in the morning so I went with a bagel sandwich. It was almost $17 total for just the sandwich. It was good bacon, egg, cheese and avocado on an everything bagel, but you are paying for the great views! I will definitely try this place again maybe even on of their coffees-they looked delicious too!

Breakfast burrito with fresh two sauces on the side. Between the Coaster and the Beach table seating. Beautiful staff and delicious coffee, but no refills for the drip coffee.

This place has a great view and I like how it's on the beach. The service was friendly and quick here. I got myself an aloha smoothie and it was refreshing and good, especially walking on the strand and I'll definitely come back for the breakfast again

Breakfast Burrito. Small for the price but still pretty tasty!

Mixed feelings: Yummy food and great location! However, they do have small portions for how expensive it is. We each got a mini burrito and coffee. The burrito is on a tiny plate. We ordered the regular sized coffee drinks but they both looked like the extra small kids size cups from Starbucks. Wish I took a photo! I get it, food prices are crazy right now! But I got 2 breakfast burritos and 2 coffee drinks, it came out to $50. The burritos were $18 each and a whopping $7 for a teeny tiny mini iced mocha (which wasn't the greatest). Steep prices for a walk-up beach hut in my opinion. Staff members are 50/50. The cashier was very friendly but the barista was pretty rude. I asked for a water cup and she refused to give me one because the ice machine was broken? I even asked for hot water but she said no and bluntly told me I had to buy a water bottle. The strange thing was, I ordered an ice coffee which came out a few minutes later and she tried very hard to ignore my gaze while I grabbed it. Kinda bummed they wouldn't accommodate a free water cup, after paying $50 and giving the staff a generous tip. The burritos (and whatever the green sauce is) was really tasty at least, which made up for it a little. Aside from that, it's a beautiful location! Dog friendly patio with incredible views, right on the beach.

I can only speak about my dish as I didn't have a taste of the other meal. I had the El Vainero (sweet corn pancake with Mano cheese, shredded beef, black beans and plantains). The flavors were so amazing together. You will just have to try it. I also ordered yuca fries. The three types of "sauces" were mild, medium, and hot. All three were tasty in their own way and I enjoyed all of them with the yuca fries and towards the end of my meal, it added a little kick to my dish. As for beverages, we had water and I ordered the hot chocolate. I know, hot chocolate, but it was so good. I love an authentic cup of hot chocolate with a bit of real whip cream and some cinnamon. In all, our experience at Encuentro Cafe was great from the service to the food. It is very intimate and we ate in the covered patio. It was as it would be eating outside with tropical decor. Not crowded and noise level as it would be eating in an enclosed patio, not too noisy with the sounds of Old Town patrons walking/driving down the street. I will definitely look forward to visiting this restaurant again when I visit San Diego.

As a Colombian who has been craving authentic Colombian cuisine since my last visit to New York in…read moreDecember, I can confidently say this restaurant truly satisfied those cravings. Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.
