We were in town for the weekend, and had a great dinner at Oribellos! To start, we had their lumpia. It came out piping hot and crispy, total comfort food. Then we had the crispy chicken platter and the grilled chicken plate. Both plates were large servings. The crispy chicken platter was indeed crispy and the sauce on top really made the dish. The grilled chicken was also total comfort food, very tender, and loved that it came with vinegar. To sip on, we got an ube colada but the mocktail. It actually had good ube flavor and was refreshing. For dessert, we had to get their ube tres leches. It was a hefty piece and had a nice ube flavor to it as well. Although it's a bar-type setting, we brought our baby and there were no issues. Service was great and attentive, and the owner was very friendly and ensured we were taken care of. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time now and finally did, it was very underwhelming. I got the popcorn chicken, the garlic chicken fries, 6 piece lemon pepper wings and the beef short rib. The best thing was probably the wings. A lot of the beef short rib was burnt, like charcoal burnt so it wasn't edible. Also the chicken tasted like it was fried in old oil. I called to ask when they last changed the oil and they said the day before but it definitely didnt taste that way. I didnt finish the food. read more

Our server very confidently said "oh my margaritas are the best" so we trusted and holy crap actual margaritas with fresh lime juice not just syrupy tasting good tequila. Julian did NOT disappoint. Oribello's is a solid 5* to me, but read on to understand what you're getting into by going here. So first off, I've been only a handful of times, but the owner Darrell has taken the time to get to know me and greet me when I come in. I notice him talking to a lot of the guests, and he's an owner who actually cares! The same thing has happened with one of their servers, and after I was recently in an accident, he came up to my table telling me he was glad I was OK. Definitely a very Cheers-esque vibe you really don't find everyday. As for the food, well that's where it gets weird. I first found this place because they had a birria pizza, and you'll see pics on Yelp and Google of this pizza. It was amazing. And sadly, you'll realize I'm using past tense. Their pizza oven was old and broke and they decided to not replace it. So Oribello's no longer serves pizza. It kind of makes sense, because Oribello's billed itself as a Hawaiian/Filipino restaurant, so why was their birria pizza? Anyway, huge loss aside, the modified menu is really good. The lumpia is a great app, though pricey at $10 for 4 of them. But the plates are a great value, priced around $15-$20, with a generous portion of meat, rice, and mac. I've been splurging on the beef short ribs lately and will probably continue to order it as it's the best thing I've had from their menu. Easily some of the best Filipino food in all of Austin! My wife had the Sisig, and I had the Chicken Katsu with Ube Pancakes -- everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were incredible, the portions were satisfying, and we were both extremely impressed with our meals. I also love that they're open for both lunch and dinner, making it easy to stop by whenever you're craving something amazing. If you haven't tried this place yet, you absolutely need to! Came here on a Friday night, very busy! Cute small interior. Service was good, waiter was very apologetic about the long wait time for food because of a backed up kitchen. We tried the fried chicken with fries as the appetizer, it came out after my main meal. Not enough chicken to fries ratio, but hot and crispy. The crispy chicken plate was good, lots of carbs. We ordered the short rib plate to go and when we got it home it was the thinnest cut grilled short rib. There is no way it was slow braised as it was super dry with a lot of inedible tough cartilage with absolutely no sauce. Super disappointed especially for a $21 dish. October 8th - Google maps made finding Oribello's slight challenging or maybe it was just me. The restaurant and staff were absolutely amazing. The dishes on the website looked so delicious that it made me want to try everything so I did. Went back the other day and their pizza oven was down. This was one of the better pizza in town. Super cute Filipino fusion pub style restaurant on 37th street. This is a great time of year to dine here as you can also experience the beautiful Christmas lights on 37th street. I made a reservation for 6pm but they only had outdoor seating available, so we opted to sit at the bar. We ordered the Ube mocktail and a spiced Mexican hot chocolate for drinks, both of which were fantastic. For food we ordered the lumpia starter to share, a pork adobo plate, and a garlic chicken plate. Plates are served with jasmine rice and mac salad sides. Lumpia - 10/10 so so good! Pork & Chicken plates - 7/10, not bad but not great. Docking a star for how long the food took to arrive. We waited for over an hour to receive our meal. The staff was apologetic and comped our drinks to make up for it, which was kind of them. Solid spot but they do need to figure out how to better meet staffing and service needs. read more

Checked this place out as it's been having all the buzz. Its feels quite small inside with some bar seating but also has outside with a screen to watch football. we tried the ube tres leches which was good/ unique concept but I dont think it's mindblowing. The cocktails flavors were inventive- Asian inspired. The ube colada was very icy and thick in the beginning and took a while to melt, I couldn't finish it all. Noticed that more than half of the items were sold out, which is interesting. Order Longsilog and Lumpia. Both were okay. The garlic rice didn't have enough garlic, as I didn't taste any garlic in it compared to other Filipino places I've been to. The rice also doesn't look like it was fried enough, as it still kind of has a wet side. The lumpia was okay; there was another eat-to-wrapper ratio, and the sauce was okay, slightly different from your normal sauce. Service was okay. I don't know if they were having a bad day, but they were running around trying to figure out who is missing food or figuring out who the food belongs to. My husband and I decided to try Oribello's Bar & Kitchen when in the area. We parked in a small lot next to the restaurant. We walked in and were greeted by the person working. He was great, very friendly. We sat down and he instructed us to use the QR code to look at the menu and place our order. It was really easy to do. After placing our order we waited. After getting our small bites he offered us a shot of a drink to try. I accepted but requested it be non alcoholic. He said he could do that and brought it to us. Not long after he brought us the rest of our food. The Food To start we ordered The Katsu Chicken Sando which is a crispy chicken tender sandwich that is covered in a sauce with a slaw. It came with a side of fries. I thought that this sandwich was really good. The sauce it was covered in gave it a sweet flavor and the slaw gave it texture. It was yummy. The fries were good. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also tried the Birria Poutine which is fries with Birria meat, gravy, a cream sauce, and fresh mozzarella chunks. These fries had a lot of flavor due to the cream sauce and gravy that was used. The Birria meat was good but I think it needed a little more meat than what we got but it was good. My husband liked that the mozzarella chunks were at the bottom. It was a good combination of ingredients. Lastly we tried the Hawaiian Pizza which comes with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, ham, and pineapple. It was a huge pizza. It was tasty. The pizza itself was thin and the tomato sauce was very good. The ham was semi salty but good, and the pineapple chunks were spread around. I wish there was more pineapple on the pizza but that's just my preference. I think next time I will add extra. The crust was was thick but airy. The pizza was really good. As an extra we got to try a shot of the Purple Ube Colada without alcohol. It was so good! I recommend trying it. Overall it was a great lunch. This is becoming one of my favorite spots to hangout with friends! They have great drinks, solid food, and a fun atmosphere that is chill and family friendly. I've visited on a night out with friends, as well as a happy hour with a large group, including young kids. Both experiences were really enjoyable. Parking is a little tricky but we were able to find a spot at the mechanic shop next door. The ube items were what initially drew me to check out Oribello's, and trust me, the ube tres leches and ube colada are worth the visit. But all of the food and drinks I've tried have been great. A few of my favorites include the Korean sweet pepper wings and the birria poutine. I also really enjoyed the lychee spritz. On both visits, the owners dropped by to check in on us and stuck around to chat and make us feel at home. I love supporting family owned businesses, and you can tell that running Oribello's is a labor of love and pride for their family. I really wanted to like this place :( Upon arrival we were told by the bartender to sit wherever, and weren't greeted by anyone for several minutes. After finally getting a menu and a glass of warm water it took another 10 minutes to order. I understand that there was only one bartender and a trainee working, but we were also one of only two tables inside the restaurant. Our beers were forgotten about and came to us after several other cocktails were sent to the other table. The longsilog that we got was raw on the inside which for pork.... isn't ideal. Our lumpia was ran to the wrong table apparently so it came long after we were done with our meal. The only time we were checked in on was by someone from the kitchen who happened to be running food out to the front. Again, I really wanted to like it here!! We definitely came on an off day as the air conditioning was broken so we sat sweating the entire time with no relief offered. There was plenty of seating, and even a cute outdoor patio, but no one else dined at this time. Unfortunately, service wasn't any better either; they didn't check up on us very often and it took a while to even get drinks. They must've figured no one was going to order a frozen drink our ube coladas took a long time to come as they we waited for the machine to slushify them. In terms of the food, I wasn't too impressed. -Loco moco fries: very salty. The fries were crispy and the meat itself had flavor, but those fries made the whole dish almost inedible for me with the amount of salt. -Pizza: the pizza was thin, but had no structure. It was too soft to hold and the toppings kept falling off. It had decent flavor, but would rather choose a different establishment if I wanted a thin crust that could hold together. -Cod bowl: we were able to try some dishes they were testing out and the cod bowl with rice was one of them. The cod was too salty and overcooked, which led to it being very dry. -Adobo bow: this was another rice bowl we were able to try. While the pork belly was very sweet, it was not tender at all. That, combined with the undercooked rice, made the whole dish fall flat. -Ube tres leches: yikes. For a dessert that should be moist, it was so dry and dense. The ube flavor was present, but the texture missed the mark completely, despite it being doused in sauce. Their Sal's Supreme pizza is a classic pie with pepperoni, spicy sausage, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and mixed olives. Three of us shared one and unanimously declared it delicious. I've only been here for drinks, but this was some of the best service I've had in Austin. I had a large group who were going to look at the lights on 37th street, and we needed a place to have drinks and snacks afterwards. Wes (the freaking MAN), let us sit in this area where there were couches and tables. Because they were short staffed, we had to order at the bar, but Wes and the others working were fantastic in checking on us and making sure we had everything we need. Holy smokes, this place is killing it. I came for the first time for happy hour on a Friday at 4, and what a pleasant surprise. I came because I had heard they have an Ube Tres leches cake, and boy am I glad I did! The place has great outdoor seating some are picnic tables under a giant tree and some a bit more secluded with padded benchs under an awning that wrap the side of the restaurant. Outside there is turf, screens, and fans that mist on a hot day. There is even a small side patio area with a fireplace if that's your vibe. The inside of the restaurant is really cute. Tall ceilings with dark wood tables and a long L shaped bar. They had a bunch of fun Filipino inspired cocktails and great happy hour specials. But none of that is why I came, I was there to eat! We ordered a Tamarind Brussel sprouts and Crispy Cassava fries to start. So many restaurants fail to deliver a good brussel sprout but Oribello's chef knew his business. They came out with a great balance of sweet and savory with just a hint of spice at the back and the texture was fabulous with just a bit of crunch . The cassava fries were really good too, they were indeed crispy and came out with a flavorful chipotle style cream sauce. After the appetizers we ordered the Braised Pork (Filipino Adobo) and a Birria Pizza. The Braised Pork bowl was beautifully presented, colorful, fragrant. But the Pork! It was delicious and so delicate, marinated to perfection and topped with a crunch. The Rice, chopped vegetables, noodles, and greens all gave texture color and flavor to compliment the melty Pork. And the Birria Pizza was a star all on its own. The crust was thin with a great chew on the front and crunch on the back, based with the creamiest home made Mexican Adobe cream sauce and mozzarella, cheese and topped with marinated Biria beef, onion cilantro and jalapeno salsa, and served with a consummé dipping sauce. This meal was mouth fireworks! So many good flavors textures and things to mix.... But then the Uber Tres Leches arrives with so much deep purple and cream, Prince would have been proud! It was the best thing I could have eaten after all the flavors . It was grounded and rich without being too sweet. The cream was so fluffy topped with a dollop of ube paste and sprinkled with ube flakes. A truly unique take on the magical tres leches. And one I will be going out of my way to enjoy again. We arrived and there was no host or greeter, I had to go almost inside the kitchen to find someone Our server grabbed our drink and appetizer orders a few minutes after sitting down The Ube colada tasted good, but felt overshaken/blended - you can see in my photos how 3/4 of the glass is just bubble foam Then it took 40 minutes for our server to get the rest of our order Server was extremely inattentive There were only 2 other tables during our time there and we always had to raise our hands or yell "excuse me" to get her attention, mind you this place is tiny This server was on her phone every time we tried to get her attention, never cleared our tables for empty cocktail glasses and appetizer plates, Our food arrived COLD I ordered 'double meat' on my sisig plate, but when my plate came out it looked the same size as the table next to us who ordered regular sisig. So I asked my server to confirm if the plate she brought me was with the double meat portion. She realized they forgot the double meat request and told us she would bring out the extra portion a few minutes later. While eating the sisig, it felt and tasted BURNT (and BLAND) to me but I ignored it assuming it was just a light char. However, when the 'double meat' portion of the sisig arrived a few minutes later, it was hot (initial plate was cold) and it was not "charred" or burnt so I confirmed that my initial plate had actual burnt sisig on it. I then looked at the photo I took of my plate before eating to double check if it was just charred or really burnt, and you can see all the burnt pieces. I later compared it to the online photo of their menu and you would not see even a charred piece of meat on the sisg plate. We came as soon as they opene Great little spot to enjoy the football games and try some Filipino/Hawaiian food. The two servers we had were amazing and very friendly. We ordered the lumpia which tasted great and the sisig fries which I thought could have been topped of with mayonnaise like normal sisig, it just need a bit of sauce otherwise everything tasted pretty good.
