How have I lived in Cincinnati for years and have never been here?! This was, by far, THE BEST Chinese food experience I have had in Cincinnati. Service is wonderful, the decor is tasteful and pretty, and the food was excellent - all of it! I enjoyed reading the menu and learning about the family history behind the restaurant, complete with photos. When I looked up I recognized one of the girls from the photo, Suzanna Wong, was at our table and she welcomed us to the restaurant. She was super friendly and helpful with the menu. I enjoyed chatting with her about Hong Kong, her family, and the restaurant. We tried some appetizers: the scallion pancake with eggplant (YUM!), shrimp dumpling dim sum (nice and plump) and BBQ pork bun dim sum (perfectly sweet and fluffy). I was already won over at this point! For dinner we had the Hoh Fun beef noodles (SO GOOD! I could live off those thick wide noodles) and Sichuan Triple (beef, shrimp, chicken). For dessert we were treated to mango custard which was booming with flavor and paired well with the whipped cream and strawberries. It's a little more expensive than your typical Chinese restaurant but does laps around the competition- quality is excellent and portions are large. We took home enough food for several more meals. Once we finish those I know we'll be back here again soon. I got a peek at the banquet room - It's beautiful and perfect place to host a party or meeting. You know those restaurants where you really feel like they care about your dining experience? Oriental Wok is one of those places. As soon as you walk in to Oriental Wok, you are greeted by a friendly and attentive staff eager to make your dining experience incredible. The waiters are attentive without being annoying, and the manager walks around and chats with you like you're best friends. This place is upscale without being stuffy. The decor is great, from the oriental inspired decorations to the plush pillows in the booths, it is comfortable and upscale all at the same time. I've been here twice- both times on a Friday night-- and never had to wait for a table. The restaurant is pretty big, and although I've never seen it full, it always has a good crowd. They have a good size menu with something from everyone. Although they offer a good assortment of unique dishes, I've always stuck with the more traditional items. I really like their moo shu chicken. As far as appetizers---their rolls are served 1 to an order, which sort of caught me off guard at first, but also allows you to mix and match options without having to order tons of food. Their shrimp and cheese roll is good, sort of like a crab rangoon with shrimp replacing the crab. The eggroll is also good and is very authentic (from what I've heard). This place is a little pricier, and most entrees cost around 15 or 16 dollars. This is a great place for date night or for those other special occasions. I was extremely impressed with the Oriental Wok. Great server, great ambiance, and really good food. It's a tad bit pricey, but you get a lot of food for your money. We never got 1 of the 2 appetizers we ordered, however the server had that boxed up to go with our leftovers. Not enough to take off a star as he was very nice about it and it would have been too much food to begin with. I had the Hoh Fun noodles which were a solid 7/10 and my wife had sesame chicken which was very very good 9/10. My biggest thing with any Asian cuisine is how is the rice prepared. I must say it was done well it was delicate and soft. My main entree was the volcano chicken prepared excellently. This was our first time at the restaurant. We used the curbside option. It was very organized and fast. However, the food once we got home was awful. Nothing tasted right, the chicken was soft and mushy on the inside and in the fried rice it was bland. The only edible thing was the side order of fried rice. According to other reviews this place is great. But tonight this was hands down the worst experience at any restaurant I've had in a long time. Lovely decor. Very clean. Our waitress Samantha was wonderful. Started with the fun volcano drink. Next we had crab Rangoon's which were the best I've ever had. Eggroll was delicious and One person in our group had won ton soup and said it was delish. Shrimp pad Thai was perfect. Cosmos are very good. A visit from the owners daughter was delightful. Group of 12 friends went to Oriental Wok last night. We had great food and superb service. It was a little more upscale than I expected given I'm usually there at lunch, but not stuffy. We had a great time. Some restaurants are so loud it is hard with a group our size to have a conversation. Oriental Wok was great atmosphere for our group to talk to and hear each other. Order extra spicy if you like spice - the dishes denoted as spicy aren't really that hot. Again, great service. Best dumplings/pot stickers EVER. Everyone loved what they got. Food is really good here and I try to eat here as much as possible but only get 30 minute lunch breaks and its really hard for our office staff to get in and out that quick. We have tried takeout numerous times but its almost impossible to get through during lunch time, so we quit going here. A fantastic dining experience. I've driven past the restaurant for years and was always intrigued with the location. I had heard good things but was hesitant to go in on a Saturday evening with 2 younger children (they behave at "fancy places") First, the service was impeccable. The owner was hands on and was incredibly kind to our entire family even though they were rather busy. Our server was fantastic. Most importantly, the food was excellent. Nothing special here for me. Egg drop soup was above average. Fried rice was good but I hate it when it looks like it was put on the plate with an ice cream scoop! The twice cooked pork was barely edible; far too greasy and too much fat on the pork. I'll pass on this place next time. read more

WOW! Went to oriental wok for the first time this evening and was blown away. I felt very safe COVID-wise with excellent social distancing. Suzanna was an exceptional host/owner/manager (not quite sure which) that made me feel extremely secure with a peanut/treenut allergy. To top off an incredible experience service wise... the food was IMMACULATE. The spring rolls were huge and delish, and the entrees were a great size and great. They gave us icecream and time with a golden Buddha statue for our anniversary. So lovely. 10/10 would recommend and I CANNOT WAIT to come again. read more

Wish I'd hadn't waited so long to come here (which I've intended to since it opened in 2009!) Beautiful oriental decor - high end and classy unlike most casual Chinese restaurants in the area. Great service and delicious food - the shrimp cheese roll appetizer had large pieces of shrimp inside and I loved the moo shu chicken with hoisin sauce rolled up in thin pancakes. I have actually never had chinese food that had this little flavor and this much grease (I had rice noodle dish). The beef was nicely cooked and tender though lacked flavor; I didn't eat the rest of the greasy mess. My dad's lo mein was not quite so greasy but had no flavor. Ditto my husband's entree. And the prices! These are PF Chang prices but school cafeteria flavor. The appetizer menu had a selection titled Viagra Shrimp - that is not a typo. Despite the un-PC name, oriental wok is one of the more authentic restaurants in Cincinnati. The eggplant is good, but like most asian eateries in cincinnati, the dishes tend to have a little too much sauce. I think it just may be how people prefer it here. Shrug! If you're comfortable, I'd definitely recommend asking for something off the asian menu, particularly the sea bass. The waiters are fluent in Mandarin, Canto, and Taiwanese. read more

Everything was excellent. The decor took me back to when I was young. We often ate in Chinese restaurants with my Dad and grandparents before the days of the buffet. Great atmosphere, kind of slow service but redeemed themselves when our nice waiter brought us all raspberry liquor/sweet cream drinks on the house and was very accommodating to my food requests (trying to be low carb low sugar)! Oriental Wok is in an unfortunate location i feel. Being off the street in an apartment complex, I never really thought to go here. we came for a birthday though. Excellent customer service. They have a very attentive staff from the moment you come in. An experience I've not had anywhere else. The moment we came in for our reservation they reassured us our table would be ready soon. The owner chatted it up with us a bit as well. They have a nice waiting area/ bar to wait in that doesn't feel you are in the way or the middle of everything. Our waiter was very entertaining and energetic. He knew how to work the room. For birthdays they bring out a big gold Buddha and gong.
