I've never dined here before but a few from work decided to order lunch here. I got the beef hoh fun and it was delicious. Super wide thick Noodles although a lot were stuck together, no biggie. The flavor and steak were amazing. I will dine in next time. read more

While the food was good and the place was pretty, I was pretty put off by the owner hitting on me when we walked in (for several minutes). Apparently that is his shtick with all the women, but I don't welcome it nor find it charming. Borderline sexual harassment is not okay in 2018 (not that it ever should have been) and especially not by the owner of a business. So while I liked the food, I would not go here again to be harassed by a dirty old man. There are other Chinese food restaurants where you can get food without a side of harassment, and that is who I will give my business to. Side note: it is almost the same menu as Original Wok in Taylor Mill, and the people there are great. I will be going there in the future. read more

People... The elderly man was friendly and inviting. He sat us at our table and was pleasant. Our waiter, Ross, seemed to genuinely enjoy working here. He was happy/upbeat and interacted. On top of that he was friendly, prompt and accurate. The owners daughter, Angela, was super friendly. As we were leaving, she introduced us to her kids, who were close in age to mine. She welcomed us to town and let us know about the dog-friendly yappy hour they host. Atmosphere... Absolutely amazing! From the koi ponds, to the lanterns, to the tv's and hair spray in the restrooms, they just make sure their clientele have what they need for an enjoyable experience. I am from the Pacific Coast so I am used to some real Chinese restaurants, with real Chinese food. I write this with that benchmark in mind. Let's start with the good: the staff are as friendly and helpful as you could wish for, unlike in a real Chinese restaurant - maybe because there was not a single Chinese person to be found on premises. That's where the good ends, though - the food was odd at best, with a mixture of competing strong flavors like you'd never get with a proper Chinese dish. The strongest flavor was sadly a natural one - some pieces of my beef was tasting decidedly rotten, and I had to leave it untouched. The pieces which I did eat at least ensured that I wasn't suffering from constipation. You may not know what good Chinese food tastes like, but since you're so close to the Cincinnati airport: do yourself a favor and hop on one of the nonstop flights to LA or San Francisco, and experience really good Chinese food. We recently had a group Christmas party in one of their rooms. WOW, It was absolutely beautiful. The glitz, the glam, and the space. It was perfect for our group of 100. Really good authentic Chinese food. And it's only 10 min from the Cincinnati Airport! I can here before and after my flight this weekend. They have 2 different menus and also a lunch menu. I've had their twice cooked pork (spicy and okay), vegetable tofu soup (really good on Friday but then it wasn't as good on Monday (maybe cause the soup only came with spinach and tofu instead of napa, carrots, and tofu like on Friday), BBQ pork buns (I would not order again since I could even finish one..they were rock hard...def not soft like they're supposed to be. I think they over steamed it. And they only give u 2 buns for $6) and the Yang Zhou fried rice (pretty good). Everything is a bit pricy and the service is pretty slow. I had to wait 30-40 min for my food both times even it was was Friday night around 8pm (super crowded) and Monday afternoon around 2pm (pretty dead). And the decoration inside and outside of the restaurant is very odd. Outside, there's a statue of a pig pulling a cart. Inside, just as u walk in, there's a huge vintage photo of a married couple. At first, I thought maybe someone is having an anniversary there. But it was there both days I went, so it must just be the owners...oh and they do this really loud birthday song for guests that include banging cymbals and gongs...good think I wasn't too close to those tables or I think I would lose my hearing. Oh and most of the waiters speak Cantonese, which is cool, but there was this one particular guy who, when I asked him what's the difference between and Chinese and English menus, literally said "I don't know"....and never bothered to ask someone else more knowledgeable or apologize for his ignorance. Also, how can you work at a restaurant if you've never even read the menu???? Very interesting. So, all in all, great Chinese food. Poor service. Weird decorations. read more

For a Chinese restaurant of this size there menu is really small. I visited this restaurant around lunch during the week and was highly disappointed with the size of the menu. Also the ability to substitute items on your plate for other items on the menu for example (vegetable fried rice instead of white rice) This place has potential to do great business with a overhaul of the menu and more freedom with choices for the customers. read more

I took my mother out for dinner and she was looking for a new chinese restaurant to check out, so I Yelped and came up with the Oriental Wok. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. The Waiter (I believe Frank) took our drink and food orders and this is what we got: Apps: Egg Roll ($2.5) average nothing special Crab Rangoon ($8.5) tasted the cream cheese but where was the crab? Not worth the price. Mains: Moo Goo Gai Pan ($15) added Shrimp ($19) This was actually pretty good. 4 Shrimp for $4 Meh... Chicken Broccoli ($15) was good as well and a nice portion size. Overall experience was pretty good. The service was overly friendly, floor manager and owner walked by to make sure everything was good. The live piano player was a nice touch since you never really see that in a restaurant anymore. The decor was stuck in the 80's but goes with the theme and the fish ponds were a nice touch. The only down falls would be the apps and the price, just a lil steep for what I received. Might go back for take-out if I was in the area... read more

Chinese decor is great, from 70's with a pay phone still ganging on the wall, but surprised at the racy pics in restroom in 2020. Anyway, the koi pond and life piano made for great ambience. Which was why it was so disappointing to taste the food. The whole reason I went was due to the rave reviews I've heard over the years. The Rangoons and chips were flavorful but my asparagus steak was tepid and tough and swimming in bland sauce. My wife's shrimp and vegetables were also lukewarm and swimming in sauce that was practically tasteless. I really hate to say this because all the staff was very attentive and courteous, which is a sign of great training. Perhaps the chefs need a refresher on authentic culinary Cantonese. I hadn't been here for years so my husband and I went to try it out. I was disappointed that it was not as good as I remembered. We ordered the egg rolls as an appetizer. They came right out but were cold. It was as though they were ready ahead of time and waiting for our order. The meals we ordered were average and mine (beef with asparagus) was very greasy. We were referred by a restaurant employee from a neighboring restaurant. I was worried, but, it was for naught. The ambience was fantastic! Everything about the place was put together perfectly! We ate the buffet but took a menu with us. I plan to visit next time I'm in town! The food was amazingly fresh and didn't taste like most standard buffets! Service was amazing! Probably the worst meal I have ever gotten from them, made me so sad because I love Oriental Wok. My General Wong Chicken carry out was so dry with absolutely no sauce in the container and my brown rice was way over cooked. Even my dumplings were dry. You ever go to get take out Chinese and think to yourself, "this chicken is all breading and no meat," because that is not a problem you will have here. Very disappointed! I don't know how they have stayed in business for 50 years! The restaurant reeks of musty, mildew, algae odor from all the ponds they have. The restrooms had an overwhelming raw sewage odor so between the two if you are sensitive to odors and mildew, I suggest you go elsewhere! The food was also disappointing! This was an extremely pleasant surprise. I was in town for work and had a craving for Chinese food. I looked for a close place on Yelp and it showed Oriental Wok close by and the ratings were pretty good. Upon arrival my colleague and I were surprised about how nice it was inside. I started wondering if i could afford it, lol. We both started with Wonton soup and it was fabulous. I got the combination fried rice and my colleague got the beef and broccoli. Both were fantastic. I have been to many good Chinese restaurants and I rate this place as perhaps the best Chinese food restaurant I have ever been to. My fears about affordability were unfounded as well. It's been about a year since we've been back! Tonight we ordered carryout; the Orange chicken and Crab rangoon. This was for a first-time visitor of ours from Michigan. He, (and We), raved! Mike greeted us at the front door and was his usual Sparkling personality of himself. We Miss HIM! Well, aside from the fact that my siblings chowed down, I thought it was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Lying in a bowl of some sort of tasteless broth were frozen/thawed carrots, limp broccoli, and small spongy shrimp. The steamed rice was good, though. My siblings didn't say how they liked their meals, but take home boxes were strewn across the table. I used to think that Chinese was sometimes great, rarely bad, but always good. The food was very well done. Seemed like some of the healthiest Chinese food I've ever eaten. The atmosphere was great and the fact that the owners all came around and new several guests and chatted with everyone showed how much they are loved. Our waitress could have been better. Our busboy and busgirl were very polite and on top of things but they couldn't seem to please here. She was constantly on top of them and getting in their face about little things. As a business owner it's hard to see someone treating employees that way and not say something. Guests should never see or hear something like that.
