This place is your average diner like eatery. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast, then this is your place. I ordered eggs, hashbrowns & sausage. My plate came with pancakes: pancakes were good. My husband ordered the fried chicken meal which he thought was good, except he didn't like the gravy. We also ordered oatmeal to share, and again, just your average oatmeal. On my trip to Catalina, my friend and I came here for a quick breakfast and we were glad we did. Since it was 2 of us we were told that we could sit at the bar after asking if we could sit at an open table for 4. I understood why about 30 minutes later. There was a line out the door and at that time, I was relieved! I had the kids meal breakfast since I wanted to save room for more food later. It was 1 egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pieces of toast. They only have bottled water, so no water provided! The restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the ferry, and quickly got crowded after we got seated around 9am. I love the theme decorations! Our service was quick and we were attended to. The food came out around 9:15! We ordered 2 egg benedicts (Nova Scotia and Dungeness Crab Cake) both were delicious! Highly recommend the egg benedicts! The star of the show is definitely the Portuguese bread. It's so soft and delectable!! Overpriced basic breakfast. We got a traditional protein breakfast. 2 bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 small slices of ham, scrambled eggs, biscuit with gravy and burnt hash browns for $22 and chilli omelette with hash brown and 2 half bread slices for $19. It was expected for a tourist spot, I guess. We also order another dish, fried chicken and waffle for $19 to-go for family that didn't join. If I remembered correctly, I saw my total was about $72. I tipped 20% on the screen because the service was ok even though I ate less than half of my dish. The total should have been about $84-$86 with tips. But after checking my statement, it was over $90. Maybe my calculations were off but I asked for him to print receipt but he hit no receipt and I just let it go at the moment. But it was not as bad as the other table nearby. They were charged an extra $15 on their tab and the server could not explain the charges to them. I would beware of this place and check your receipt before paying anything, shady practices are here. read more

Best breakfast ever. I been stopping here every year while visiting to run the Avalon 50/50. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and welcomed. The staff here are friendly and helpful. Since I'm always by myself I just grab a stool at the bar and order breakfast. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. Ugh it's was heavenly when it was placed in front of me. I realized as I was sitting down for breakfast that I've been here 13 years ago...lol - I noticed my old 3 star review. I have to say that my recent experience was not much better. I tried their eggs benedict and was not a fan. I tried a bite of the chicken fried steak with gravy and neither were very good. Service wasn't all that great, our server never came to check on us. This place served up a tasty Eggs Benedict. I also came back for lunch and had the smash patty burger which was also very good. My wife got the corn beef hash (twice!) Our server was very friendly and took good care of us. Inside is a classic breakfast bar feel. Been to catalina 3x and the first & 2nd visit here was not too bad. The 3rd one though was the worst experience ever! I don't think this restaurant can handle big parties. The 1st time we went it was just my husband and service wasnt too bad. 2nd time it was a party of 6 with our friends and it wasnt too bad either. This recent trip was terrible. Day 1 - I got the crab cake Benedict, very tasty and a good amount of crab was on the Benedict, more than I thought there would be. Day 2 - chili burger. This was delicious, but they could've and should've added more chili. The amount of chili on this was subpar compared to many places I've gotten chili burgers (one of my favorite items to eat; I only didn't get this day 1 because I had a wedding and didn't want my stomach destroyed).
