After stepping off the boat and checking into our hotel, we wandered down Front Street, stopping in at Catalina Island Brewhouse for lunch. It wasn't busy as it was during the week, and we found a table on the patio. Mr. B ordered a flight to try and we ordered a pineapple jalapeno pizza. I know many say pineapple doesn't belong on a pizza, but we happen to like it. The crust of the pizza was thin and covered in melted cheese, chunks of pineapple and slices of jalapeno. It was the perfect amount of spice and the pineapple calmed it down by adding a hint of sweetness. The beer was great, the pizza even better and you just can't beat the views of the bay. Service was good, and we were off to a good start of eating on Catalina Island. read more

I heard so many great things about this place and when I reached Catalina I couldn't wait to try. My latte was okay. It had way too much milk and the almond flavor of the almond milk overpowered the coffee. Service was on island time and we waited about fifteen minutes for our drinks. Overall it was okay. Stopped here for a quick beer after walking around for maybe 20 minutes. Its a coffee shop and a brewery in the same location. The long line is for coffee - so skip and go right down the beer line which is way shorter. Cant beat beer by the water. Would recommend. read more

I came for coffee one early morning when I walked in I saw all the local grocery staff enjoying a cup on the patio. I knew it was going to be good if the locals go here! I was right! Delicious coffee! I order a vanilla latte and a cranberry scone. I took it to go and had a lovely stroll through town. They use Dancing Goats beans and grind their beans fresh. We found this place on our last day and I'm honestly mad at ourselves for not coming here sooner. We went somewhere else earlier in the trip for coffee and...yeah, that place sucked. At least now we know better for next time. Everything coming out of the oven looked better than the last thing!!! Fresh baked goods nonstop and all of it tempting. Then we saw the cheesecake. Full sized, thick, glorious cheesecake. We wanted it, but didn't want to totally overdo it...which is when I learned they sell bite-sized cheesecake. Actual genius. Got one and it was SO good. This place was recommended to us and super cute. They serve beer, pizza, coffee and snacks. The beer flights and pizza looked really good and we should have went for that. Instead we got coffee, tea, and dessert. The service was good, and our drinks came out pretty fast. Luckily tea is easy and tasted good. My girlies however were not impressed by the coffee. We had just reached Catalina Island, and we needed some quick and good food. With a quick yelp search, I was able to find this place. Surprisingly this was a short walk from the ferry terminal. The restaurant was quite crowded, but we were lucky enough to find a table. They also have a Café alongside which I thought was pretty cool. I was craving for some pizza so I got the veggie flatbread pizza. My husband got a lager beer. We also got a caprese panini sandwich. The food came out pretty quickly. The portion size was pretty good for the flatbread. We did request for less cheese but there was a bit too much cheese on the flatbread. However, the flatbread was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The beer was tasty and paired well with the pizza. The Panini was flavorful but the portion size was relatively smaller. You also get the ocean view while eating at this restaurant. I really liked the ambience and the servers were sweet. If you are looking for a sit down restaurant with a view, I would highly recommend this place. The prices are affordable as well. read more

This place is conveniently near everything. It's facing the beach and has a really nice view. Their is plenty of seating on the patio. A really cute scene. The coffee itself is good and the pastries are delicious. We were a big group and ordered about $75 worth of coffee and pastries. The only unfortunate part was 1 of 6 coffees we ordered, we requested no dairy (soy milk) in it and the girl made a face like she was annoyed by it. My daughter can't have dairy so I didn't like that it made her feel uncomfortable for asking. The rest of the orders were just fine. And the pastries were yummy. read more

When we got to Catalina Island we walked around for a bit and found this little coffee shop. They have a few tables inside and a few outside. This place was super cute and the shot of espresso was fantastic! It gave me that boost of energy I needed to get through my day. They have a good variety of options on their menu and we grabbed some of their giant cookies and they were freshly baked and delicious. Staff was awesome, they were super busy serving everyone, but they were very polite and attentive. I started to clean up a table we were going to sit at and one of the ladies came from behind to clean up the table. I don't know if this is a tourist spot or a local favorite, but they have tons of people coming in and out of this place so I know everything is made fresh. I didn't see any other coffee shops nearby so if you need some energy then you should definitely stop by. I also noticed they served alcohol from the menu as well as in their coffees, so if you something like that then you should check it out. read more

Call me a pessimist but I am pleasantly surprised at how good the items are here. I worry that being on an island, businesses do not feel they need to try as hard to maintain business because tourists will always come to eat at wherever is not too busy. It was here that I confirmed that I love the Italian combination of pesto, mozzarella, tomato, and whatever leafy green of choice (basil, arugula, or spinach). Needed a pick me up after catching an early ferry over to Catalina from Newport, and this cafe was close enough to the docks. The staff was friendly and patient while we ordered, especially since there were so many flavors to choose from for the lattes. The coffee was decent, but my one complaint is that a single iced latte was nearly $10... without tip! Few friends and this was our conclusion. We visited right when they opened. I have to give it a 4/5 stars just because it probably is the best coffee spot on the island but I haven't tried any coffee from the restaurants yet. Coffee and beer all in one place? That's right! Catalina Island Brew House offers both! We had dropped by for a beer a couple of years ago, but today dropped in for coffee. Personally, I think the coffee outshines the beer by a mile. I had an iced vanilla latte and it was just perfect. The service was great and our coffee came out in just a few minutes, despite how busy it was. The atmosphere is also pretty cool, definitely a bit touristy but relaxing nonetheless. Appears to be dog friendly on the front patio as well. I saw several, well behaved, pups on the front patio. I tried a flight of the in-house beers, and I would rate them as better than average. Also, the offering are a tad pricey, not totally overpriced, but a little more than you might pay off the island. However, I found service was the perfect mix of friendly and fast. A small coffee house nestled in the main street ( I think lol). The place is small and there are spaces outside to sit and enjoy coffee. They were busy at the time we stopped and the crew seemed a little frazzled. They were nice and very professional but they need a better system of taking orders and calling out completed orders. We only visited in the morning but the coffee and the food was top notch. The banana bread was fresh and the egg muffins were very satisfying. They have seating for some nice people watching. One of the busier coffee houses on the island but for good reason. There was a line out the door pretty early on. Their service is friendly and the ladies are working hard making the coffee drinks.
