Scrambled eggs are tasty, rice is incredibly flavorful and the fresh sliced avocado along side makes it a perfectly mouth watering dish! Orange Juice | Fresh squeezed, and refreshing! Breakfast Burrito | Delicious, hearty & full of flavor! You want to order this when you're super hungry or get half of the burrito to go! Bloody Mary | I highly recommend! Tasty, refreshing, and can be perfect with breakfast! Customer Service | Wildly friendly & attentive! Popular | Popular! There is usually a long line for breakfast! Simply go inside, asked to put your name on the list and enjoy waiting inside or outside and enjoy the view of the beach/scenery! Inside | It's quite the spacious restaurant! We came to Catalina Island for the day, and Pancake Cottage was our first stop for breakfast. There was a long line when we arrived, but the wait was only about 30-40 minutes and moved surprisingly fast. Our server was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu before we ordered. The chilaquiles were authentic and delicious, especially paired with the fresh side of beans. The pancakes were fluffy, buttery, and cooked perfectly. The restaurant was clean, the staff was welcoming, and we enjoyed a nice view of the island while dining. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast. The only downside was the waiting area. There was quite a bit of luggage from other guests, so you need to watch your step to avoid tripping over straps or bags. Other than that, it was a great visit and a place worth checking out when you're in Catalina. read more

I honestly genuinely enjoyed the banana chocolate chip pancakes and the sausages that came on the side. The eggs were a little bland but the apple juice was very tasty (preferred it over the OJ) . Our server was very attentive and kept checking in on us making sure everything was okey! The hash was OK--would have liked more of a crisp to it and seasoning. And the pancakes... the texture threw me off a bit. It was kind of bread-y and not as fluffy as you'd expect. My partner ordered the Chorizo Sizzler, which, as the name suggests, came out of the kitchen smoking on a sizzling plate. As the heart of the dish, the chorizo actually had a nice flavor to it--it was just drowned in a sea of thickly cut potato wedges. Service: No complaints. Ambiance: While there was a sprinkle of decor throughout, I couldn't tell what the vibe was from this place--rustic? If you're a tourist, definitely come here for breakfast! Very nice restaurant. We got sat down immediately after checking with the hostess. A lot of tables. Gets very packed within the first hour of opening. The food came out really fast for being busy. It was delicious! We got the French Toast Combo and Denver Omelette. Our server was nice and service was pretty good. Keep in mind, the restaurant does not serve tap water, only bottled. The cups are also smaller compared to the taller glasses, so ration! read more

This was my second visit here. It's the closest breakfast spot to the boat terminal. It's right next to the second golf cart rental place. I arrived just past 7 am (when they open) and made a run here because the placed filled up within minutes after I arrived. At first they were short staffed, but more staff quickly arrived. Still, there were waits to order and especially for the food to arrive. There was one waiter who was hustling more than the others. I was told to put my luggage by the host stand, unwatched. Later I moved it to my table without incident or obstruction for security reasons. I ordered the Country Squire combo--pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and bacon or sausage. The pancakes were okay but the cup of syrup was inadequately small. The hashbrowns and bacon could have been crispier. Note that this restaurant, like all the restaurants in Avalon, does not serve free tap water, you must buy a bottle. This has been an unwritten rule here for years; I always bring my own water bottle. An okay meal, but my first choice for breakfast in Avalon is the Lobster Trap, which now also opens at 7 am. I would choose Pancake Cottage over Original Jack's, however. read more

Make sure to arrive early because I believe there is always a wait here. We put our names down for a table around 11a and our table was ready a little before 12p! Service was very direct, we came on a holiday (Valentine's day) so it's understandable Chilaquiles came with beans, rice, and avocado. Great portion. Nothing much to say about it because it was just alright. It wasn't spicy or outstanding. Chicken fried steak was same; there are better out there. It came with a side of hashbrowns which were a little hard, not soft and crispy as one would expect. Everything was just alright. Nice coastal view here. On 06/30/26, I spent time on Catalina Island and had breakfast at the "Pancake Cottage" on Crescent Ave. I have eaten at this restaurant since 1989 and it is delicious every time. It's one of the first restaurants you see on the boardwalk. If you are looking for a delicious & hearty breakfast, try the Pancake Cottage. It never disappoints. The customer service is good. Back in the day it was nice to see the owners working at their old age. Always professional. The restaurant always has a line waiting but it seems to move pretty quick. I highly recommend this restaurant. After eating there you will definitely need some movement. There are plenty of activities to do on the island. Take a nice stroll while walking alongside the ocean. The Pancake Cottage is only open for breakfast and lunch which gives you plenty of time for a nice stroll or shop for some unique items in the island stores. If you are looking for a challenge, try Miniature Golf. It's a fun way to burn some calories while having fun. read more

Came here on a sunday and it was pretty busy but luckily the restaurant had 2 sides so the wait went by faster than the quoted time. I ordered the california bennie and it was okay. There wasn't anything special about it, the hollandaise sauce didn't stick out to me and required hot sauce to aid the flavors. Unfortunately they were having issues with their fryer and couldn't make some items on their menu such as the fried chicken. But I also requested for my hashbrowns to be well down and they said that wasn't possible either. FYI, water is not free on the island, so they will change you at the restaurant if you request it. If I'm back on the island, I'll probably try a different spot but nonetheless this was a good experience. read more

Breakfast spot located in downtown Avalon. It is about a 10th of a mile from the tender pier when you get off the cruise ship. We came here at about 9:30 AM on a Tuesday morning. It was not crowded, but quickly filled up. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating. I have the pecan waffle for my meal. It was delicious. My spouse had the country gravy chicken and said his meal was OK. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the water. read more

One of the best eateries here at Catalina Island is Pancake Cottage Breakfast & Lunch. We ate here for breakfast 9am on a Sunday. We didn't wait long about 5 minutes before our party of 11 was seated. Pancake Cottage Breakfast & Lunch serves delicious breakfast and also provided excellent customer service. Not to mention perfect scenery and ambiance. You're looking at the ocean and the Main Street feeling the breeze while eating breakfast and drinking their Kona coffee. Our order consists of everything from their Signature Dishes, Combos, Omelets and Scrams as well as Bennies. We ordered Lox N' Bagel, Country Squire Combo, Breakfast Burrito, California Bennie, Chicken N' Waffles and Florentine Bennie. All our meals were prepared fresh, hot and delicious. All our food was delivered within 20 minutes of ordering. They brought our order out all at the same time. We can't wait to go back here in December. read more

Absolute trash. The eggs taste like they are from a continental breakfast and are watery with zero seasoning. I asked for crispy hash browns and they arrived raw. Arrived to Avalon for our wedding anniversary on a Sunday morning and jumped right into this restaurant. There was seating available at the bar so we sat quickly by the window and ordered immediately. Great start to the day. Of course we had to have mimosas on our special day (something we would do on sundays before baby boy came around). Unfortunately, but to be expected at an island restaurant, the food took some time to prepare. I would say about 30 min or so, but we were in no rush. The staff is absolutely so lovely as always and welcoming. Times have changed here on the island, though that's for sure. It's missing that old school dining experience. It feels a little sterile and not warm and cozy. We miss the good all days. The food was tasty. They even have gluten-free options. Had the pancakes-they tasted a little greasy, maybe cooked on an overused grill. It had a meat and oil flavor But overall an amazing experience we try to get here every time we come over to the Avalon. We stopped in for breakfast after getting tired of cruise buffet food, and the friendly staff seated us quickly. One thing to know about this location: if it's cold outside, bring a jacket. It was freezing inside, and even the staff were bundled up. At this price point, I'd expect the restaurant to keep the dining room comfortably heated. The food itself was good, though not exceptional enough to make this a must-visit spot. The Bloody Marys were decent, but not everyone in our group received their drink orders, which was disappointing. We had a large party, and between the mix-ups and how cold it was inside, we were eager to finish eating and head back outside just to warm up. read more

It was coming to our table. The place is small, but quaint, clean and ran like a well oiled machine . The food was delicious. Visiting Catalina for a long weekend and of the three breakfast places that we tried this was our favorite of the three. It has a beautiful location right across from Avalon Bay so you have a great view of the water while dining. It was quite busy when we arrived for our 9:30 Friday morning breakfast but we didn't have to wait very long. They have a pretty large menu filled with a lot of great options and the other diners around us seemed like they were enjoying their meal as well. Pricing is fair and our server was very polite. The restaurant is actually larger on the inside than it looks on the outside so there are plenty of seating options. The food was pretty good, not quite as good as the breakfast you will get over in the mainland, but for a little island breakfast spot it was really enjoyable. For my meal I ordered the Chorizo Sizzler and enjoyed it. I wish there would have been more chorizo and a little bit less onions but still overall it was a really nice meal. I also got a coffee and thought it was strong and tasty. I would recommend to anyone visiting the island and I would stop in again next time I visit Catalina. read more

The breakfast was reasonably priced, although I wish they had a better selection of omelets and allowed you to build your own with at least three vegetables without charging for each additional item. On the positive side, they do stuff their omelets with lots of meat, which I really enjoyed. I got full, the food tasted good, and that was great. This morning were not great. Gummy and undercooked. Seemed like the batter didn't have much of a chance before going on the heat. FRUIT really nice selection of seasonal fruit. I really wanted to like this place, especially since it was our first time visiting Catalina Island, but unfortunately our experience didn't reflect the reputation. We came in with family and asked if we could be accommodated at a larger table since my partner is very tall and we wanted him to be more comfortable. The staff refused, and THE HOST assisting our server, Violeta, responded with "bruh" and gave us a dismissive look, which immediately made things feel uncomfortable. While the service itself was fast, the overall atmosphere didn't feel welcoming. The food looked great when it arrived, but sadly it lacked flavor. We chose to stay and give it a fair chance instead of walking out, but the experience never improved. This was meant to be a special visit for us, and it ended up being disappointing.
