Not a really good first experience at Original Joe's yesterday for lunch. Usually when you have only a few items on your menu, you have to do those items very well.....this place doesn't do that. Both my gf love gyros so that's what we ordered. We got the beef (not having lamb as an option is a big no-no if you carry gyros). The only thing we cared for was the bread and feta. Everything else inside was not of very good quality, especially the minimal amount of meat. The place was clean, but our server wasn't very friendly either, she seemed inconvenienced and kinda cranky. We won't return.

Excellent deli with yummy options randing from sandwiches to really delicious bento, all served with friendly service. I've never had to wait and it's rarely more than $10 for a great meal. Definitely check it out! YO JOE (pro): Inexpensive good food served with a smile JOE BLOW (con): They're wasted on Janzten Beach

Diarrhea-causing food, plus the gyros too.

Stopped by for some bento and beef gyros.. The food wasn't spectacular. It was just "ok". After that, I started having an upset stomach and then ended up having bad diarrhea all night until early morning. I'm never going there again.

I've looked forward to writing this review for a number of weeks now... ashamed I haven't done it…read moresooner. Wilder. WOW. JUST WOW. This is another one of those rare reviews I write where I regret we can't give more than 5-stars! Wilder is truly one of the greatest restaurants in all of the Portland metro. Discovered on a random Saturday morning months ago, we stumbled in for a late brunch... it was a knock-your-socks off moment. First, their Benedict is absolutley delectable! We all know I'm a sucker for a good Benedict but I'll put this one in my top-3 EVER! Absolutely wonderful! Secondly, having returned multiple times for brunch, I can confidently say, you can't choose wrong from their menu! During brunch one morning, we came to the realization that Wilder offers dinner, as well! Sure enough, we were back within the week. First thing we noticed was gluten-free fried chicken... what? Who would have thought?!?! Of course, it was on the list + their Steak Tartare. I'll just say, we couldn't have ordered better. Their chicken is literally, out of this world. Having lived in the southeast of the country twice now, I feel as though I've experienced some pretty darn good fried chicken. However, the Wilder's Fried Chicken was absolutely enchanting, every bite! The Steak Tartare was served beautifully, with a yolk on top... how much better does it get? Ambiance is cozy and romantic. Bright and intimate in the mornings for brunch, dark and moody in the evenings for dinner. It strikes the perfect mood, every visit. We would be remiss not to mention their fabulous staff. Each and every member of their team is a delight. Professional, kind, friendly, and engaging. Nothing but positive interactions, every single time. Drinks are wonderful, bar staff is obviously knowledgable. Great selection of spirits and wine. Food is to die for. Staff is top-notch! Wilder has earned nothing less than a perfect 5-star rating. Truly in our Top 3 favorite restaurants in all of Portland and permanently on our weekly list of places to visit. As it has started to become our Friday "date night" spot, it certainly makes me anxious for the weekends to get here! Go enjoy, you won't regret it! Thank me later!

Special shout out to the kitchen staff for big multitasking energy: watching the game, closing out the place, and firing out some amazing food. Wilder's near-close happy hour offerings were both tasty and generous. Cocktails featured offerings from local distillers that yielded complex flavors but nothing that was "trying too hard" to be artisanal. Also Made my date's night that they were using polenta as a bun.

We sat at a counter near the door and our drink order was taken pretty fast. I ordered a passionfruit gimlet and it was delicious. When we put in our food order, we didn't expect it would take almost an hour to get a burger, a fish sandwich and an order of onion rings. I suppose the kitchen might've been backed up? But next time we'll make sure we aren't hungry when we arrive just in case. I finished my gimlet and ordered another drink before the food came. I ordered a margarita, as my husband mentioned them being on some list for the best margarita in Portland, but there was a taste in it that really reminded me of cleaning solution. The waitress was really kind and when I told her, she swapped it out for another passionfruit gimlet and removed the margarita from the bill. When the food arrived, I was sooooo hungry, so I can't tell if it was truly an excellent fish sandwich or if I was just that excited to have food. I really enjoyed it though! And the onion rings were such a perfect, crispy texture. Overall, it was good and I would go back! I would just go at a less busy time or before I was already hungry.

The estimated time was pretty close to spot on so that was nice. The inside is pretty small, but I don't think that's too much of an issue, there is a little bar area and a TV that has a basketball game on. They do have a covered little patio area as well I saw. We ordered numerous things because it was our first time and wanted to try some stuff. We got the catfish, which was pretty decent, not a lot of meat. The breading was good and cooked perfectly. The tartar sauce went well with it. I would get that again. We ordered the steak bites and for us they were very overcooked and kind of chewy. The dipping sauce was similar to a steak sauce and was not bad. We also got the mac & cheese. I did not care for it, but my spouse thought it was OK. The yams, the yams, the yams. They were so flavorful! Reminded me of my grandma making them. Got the Cobb salad and will not get that again. Definitely wilted lettuce not a lot of toppings and the dressing was terrible. The picture online looked amazing and I was really craving a Cobb...didn't hit the spot. We also tried the garlic noodles which were kind of clumpy and heavy on the garlic, which is fine, but it was a little too much for me. My spouse thought they were good. I had to try the wings because I love them. I asked for soy garlic and I'm pretty sure I got barbecue. But the wings came dry and then the sauce was on the side. Honestly was not a fan of either and only ate two. God side of dirty rice, which was pretty good but the, fried rice balls were amazing. We could have eaten 20 of those! I know a lot of places sometimes are hit or miss and depends on the day. Overall, I just was not super happy with the meal. That's OK. That's my opinion. Maybe down the line will try some different items from there. Enjoy if you check it out.
