Easily the most smashed smashburger I've ever had! The patties were paper thin and crispy around the edges. I'm impressed. You can really taste the high quality ingredients that they used from the buns to the greens to the patties. Don't get me wrong, it's a filling meal but you don't feel greasy afterwards. We tried the Double Double and the Fair Burger (as a double!). Both were delicious, not too different from one another. I'd go for a single patty next time cause that is more than plenty. Onion Rings were crispy but too heavy on the batter. Didn't taste much of the onion, sadly. Lovely staffs and fun energy. Space is also super clean. The outdoor patio is a nice touch too.

Tulip Shop Tavern is one of my absolute favorites and my definitive go-to when I don't want to risk trying a new place. It is a busy, clean, and vibrant hipster bar. Having visited several times, I can confidently say every single meal has been delicious and remarkably consistent. During this visit, we ordered the fish sandwich alongside a Dole Whip slushy. The Dole Whip was so incredibly delicious that I completely finished it before my sandwich even arrived. As for the fish sandwich, it easily ranks as one of the best in town. The fillet is fried to a shattered-crisp golden crunch and nestled in a soft, butter-toasted bun with cool, tangy tartar sauce and a refreshingly crisp slaw. You simply cannot go wrong choosing Tulip Shop--it truly is one of Portland's brightest gems.

The servers are perfectly attentive to make sure you are taken care of. The food came out within a few minutes on a busy Friday. The house burger was the perfect smash burger. They have a rotating list of delicious beers as well as the common stuff. The music was at the perfect volume to be able to hold a conversation with your friends. What more could you ask for? This place is literally perfect!

We stopped here for my husband's birthday lunch on a Friday. Despite it being pretty busy, we had great service. Food came out at a reasonable time. I really enjoyed the shoestring fries and queso dip. All queso should be served in this big of a bowl! My husband enjoyed his smash burger with grilled jalapeno and I liked my veggie burger with grilled onions, but we agreed we've had better elsewhere. The vibe in there is almost elevated dive bar of that makes any sense. Interesting black light art on the walls and a spacious covered patio.

Extra long corn dog special and fries with queso

My friends have been telling me for the past year to check out Tulip Shop so I told a friend I meet him there for food and drinks. I arrived and the place was pretty busy, probably as expected for a late weekend crowd. We sat in the bar and I ordered a smash burger and a tall whiskey ginger ale. The ambience is darkly lit and reminds me of a similar layout of Sweet Hereafter (RIP). The staff was friendly and checked periodically if we needed anything. My burger arrived and I ate in silence as my friend rambled about what was on his mind at the time. The drink prices are a little higher than other bars but they also have some signature cocktails to try as well. A few months later, a couple of my friends invited me out to the late night happy hour and that is what definitely won me over. They have smash burgers discounted a couple hours before closing and they offer various food specials. The corn dog sounded delicious and was recommended. I also ordered fries and a side of queso for only $2 extra. It was the best decision of the evening as the queso was very generous and it paired well with not only the fries, but also the corn dog as well. If you want like gigantic onion rings, they deliver and honestly I can't wait to back for that alone.

Such an AMAZING smash burger.. Shut the front door, Batman! Perfect, friendly, helpful staff, and Portlands best smash burger! They have RC cola, woot woot. Cute patio our back, great food, get in here!

Tavern Burger - thoroughly smashed!

Have been thinking about trying this spot for a while and then saw them listed in OregonLive's list of PDX top restaurants 2025. So that settled it. Enjoyed the Tavern Burger and the Fat Washed Old Fashioned. Very cool space. They have plenty of tables inside, a large bar, and an overflow bar. Also have a large covered patio in the back. Service was terrific.

Super busy on a Thursday evening, the entire place was full but we were Lucy to snag a spot. Waitress informed us of a 45min wait for food. That's what we came for so we're going to wait out. More to follow!

Tavern Burger, Fair Burger, and Onion Rings!

Was craving a late night burger and a beer... stumbled into the most perfect place for the two! Tulip Shop Tavern has a cute but low-key ambiance that I really enjoyed. I had heard good things about the burger so was very excited to try it and was not let down! Our service was incredibly friendly, I didn't get her name but she was the sweetest who gave quick yet relaxed service- perfect for the setting. I got the tavern burger, my boyfriend got the fair burger, and we shared the (MASSIVE) onion rings. We both loved the burgers so much. Sometimes when getting a smash burger I am left wanting more, but the size was just right to actually fill us up. The edges were real crispy and the patty was juicy and flavorful. The onion rings were fun and giant as well! Very crispy and fresh. We ended up just getting a draft beer to split but will definitely be back to try some cocktails and enjoy the burgers again!

Get the double double smash burger and thank me later. It was quite possibly the most perfectly cooked smash burger patty I've eaten. Crazy good. On top of the amazing burger, the rest of the experience was pretty solid, too. The onion rings were delicious, and the staff were very friendly as well. All in all, a solid spot that I'd gladly revisit.

My beef consumption has declined over the years, but Tulip Shop is the kind of place that makes it worthwhile to go against the grain and travel here from any part of the city for a burger. Our server warned us that the kitchen may take a while to prepare our food, but since the drinks arrived quickly and we had a comfortable place to sit, this wasn't a hardship. The decor goes perfectly with the menu - kind of dark and dive-barish, but lacking a layer of grime/grease on either the food or the furnishings, and feeling very comfortable in ganeral. I can't claim to be an expert on smash burgers, but the one I found at Tulip Shop had all the qualities that I was hoping for. You could count the number of onion rings in an order on one hand, but their size was truly impressive.

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. Also ordered fries and they were alright, super small, like 1 inch in length. But they did have some amazing sauce options that made it better.

The restaurant itself is beautiful - elegant, upscale, gorgeous mural done by local artist, Blaine Fontana, and perfect for a special occasions! A huge shoutout to our server, Heidi, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helped guide us through the menu. The enoki mushrooms and the hot buns were standouts and are a must-order. We were also tempted by the udon, tartare and crudo but ran out of room, so they're already on the list for my next visit. Definitely recommend Reservations for dinner. Waitress was extremely helpful at explaining the entire menu. We grabbed a few things. -yellowtail crudo -mentaiko udon -lobster bao -cocktail/ NA mocktail (I forgot the names srry) Yellowtail crudo and mwntaiko udon are the two items I would reorder again. I did wish the crude had a little more citrus, but overall delicious. Mentaiko udon was soo well done, but honestly more garlicky than mentaiko in flavor (not that I'm comaining). Lobster bao was a cool concept but nothing crazy fancy. The NA mocktail was on the bitter side and personally not for me as a sweet tooth person.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

But as soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful, with a stylish central bar that immediately catches your eye. Although they do serve food, I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to just enjoy a couple of drinks. There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.
