I just moved here from the states and this place was exactly what I needed to experience. I am a vegetarian and it's hard to find restaurants that are good! Their Impossible burger is the reason I tried this spot out. Once I find the pictures I will upload them. I ordered the Impossible burger with a side salad and I ordered a side of the poutine! My partner ordered their chicken sandwich with veggies as well as the poutine! Everything was a hit. Our waitress was so friendly and excited about our move! A neat environment. The hubby and I have ordered a couple items from here off the skip the dish app and this place has yet to disappoint. First of all they will deliver cookies and milk right to your door! I could have stopped there and been happy!! We came here after a Sunday play date with some friends. I ordered a few brunch menu items for my 1 year old daughter. One turkey sausage an egg and a fruit skewer. First the turkey sausage came out frozen in the middle, scrambled egg looked like it had been cooked first and sat while the rest of the food was being prepared. The fruit skewer was a piece of orange that looked like it was cut on Monday and sat in the cooler all week and a few pieces of cantaloupe and honeydew . I talked to the server about the sausage, she apologized and told me it would be taken off the bill and replaced. It's replacement was a very over cooked (microwaved) piece of turkey sausage jerky. Couldn't as a parent feed it to my daughter. Then my food came out, and boy did I wish it didn't. I ordered the Kona burger with chicken instead of beef with a Caesar salad and mash potatoes. The potatoes seem like they were sitting in a warmer and developed a thick top skin and when scooped out dragged a bunch of that skin with it. The salad was great but then I took a bite of the burger. The taste of burnt chicken filled my mouth. I was so shocked that an item of food could pass a cook and an expediter. I love OJ's and was a very happy non parent customer for many years. Then we had kids and was very disappointed that they were a no minor restaurant. When I heard they were allowing children till 8 I was thrilled. I will no longer come to this location and will travel farther to the north I'll location for better food. I remember when Original Joe's first opened. I had just moved to Calgary and was working with one of the Franworks partners. They had one restaurant at the time. It's been awesome watching them grow and expand across Western Canada. My one dislike about Original Joe's is that they do not allow kids. Ever. Unfortunately they lose business over this (and not just mine) as my family will go to the pubs for dinner that do allow kids until 8 or 9pm. In this economy it is a bad business choice IMO. But moving on. A new OJ's has opened not far from where we live. So hubs and I had an hour w/out kids one Saturday afternoon and decided to pop in. The decor is gorgeous. Franworks has their own contractor for their restaurants and I must say they do amazing work. There were a handful of people in the restaurant so we were able to pick the table we wanted. We sat next to the large floor to ceiling window that almost over looks the Deerfoot and you can even see Nose Hill Park in the distance (less than a 10 minute drive). Service was friendly and quick. We weren't overly hungry so ordered a couple of the on tap beers along with our wings and parmesan chips. There were tv screens playing different sports games for those who were interested. It's not a huge space but a cute one for sure. And note it is upstairs above Smashburger. Like the location, everything was spot on, we will return. read more

Dinner was okay on a busy Friday night. I had turkey wrap w fries & a salad. The wrap tasted bland & it was cold (as in part of the wrap had been sitting next to an ice cube). Salad was ok - lettuce was kind of wilty but feta & crisp apple were delicious. Friends all enjoyed their dishes so I guess mine was the odd dinner. It wasn't bad - just tasteless. Wine special? I don't know but 5oz of house white was only $4.50....and it was good. Excellent service for this table of 7 gals. Great atmosphere w plenty of TVs & good music (not too loud). read more

Save your hard earned money! We dined at OJ's in Medicine Hat a few weeks ago and it was amazing so thought we would try it in Calgary. Big mistake! Ordered a bottle of white wine, it wasn't anywhere near being cold. Ordered dry ribs, they tasted like they had been fried in dirty grease. Then we ordered beef dip....it was falling apart, the au jus was thick like gravy. Should have stayed home and made a grilled cheese! Avoid this location. read more

OJ's, what's happened to you? I used to love you, depend on you, crave you. Now look at ya. So disappointed in how you've grown up. I'm taking out my frustrations on the chain restaurant as a whole based on my experience at this newish location. My friend and I got there just in time for happy hour - whoo hoo! We quickly ordered glasses of white wine and each ordered a $4 fish taco of the HH menu. The wine was great - a nice crisp refreshing house wine. The "fish" tacos, however, BOO. We couldn't even identify if it was fish. I think they scraped the bottom of the pan to give us the leavings. And the rest of the taco had no flavor. We told the waiter what we thought, and in fairness to the restaurant they comped our tacos. Hence the second star they are receiving. We then ordered the dragon boat lettuce wraps and sweet potato fries instead. We didn't eat much of the wraps - waaaay too much hoisin sauce and very little chicken. But the flavor was ok and there were a decent amount of veggies in there, so a C+ rating. The sweet potato fries were good but I think their pepper shaker lid came off when they were seasoning them - most of the fries were almost completely covered in black powder, which was a bit disappointing. Our server was very busy but still very good. The space is weird - tons of stairs to get in the door and you feel like you've entered an apartment building, and the restaurant is quite small. I'd like to give this place 2.5 stars, so I waffled between 2 and 3 but to be honest I won't go back so it's gettin' a 2 from me. sorry. read more

Came here on Saturday lunchtime before heading over to the Rec room. There was ample parking and entrance on thru the north lobby on the 2nd floor. This place is brand new since they redid deerfoot mall to deerfoot city. The restaurant looks really nice and our server who was also the bartender was super friendly and service was excellent. He told us about the drink specials and I decided on the Cesar which was on for $5. The Cesar will super tasty and one of the best I have ever drank. The brunch menu was on Saturday, Sundays until 3pm so I decided to get the Eggs Benedict. It has shaved ham with medium poached eggs with generous Hollandaise sauce with a fruit skewer and smashed potatoes. The potatoes with fried nicely and the whole meal was good. This was our first time at this restaurant. Our MIL had been to one of these places in another town. We had several items from the menu. We tried the daily soup, fish and chips, and lettuce wraps. I was trying to be healthy and tried the lettuce wrap with Chicken. I will try it again and look for a recipe to try at home. Made a reservation for new years. Was seated for 25 minutes without seeing a server. Ended up leaving to go elsewhere for food.

Went for lunch today and couldn't have been more disappointed! Waited a good 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge me. Ordered the starter salad with a salmon skewer. When it arrived, I was pleased to see that it had a substantial amount of goat cheese, nuts and apples. Unfortunately, it seemed like half of the salad had been sitting in the dressing (it was limp and soggy) while the other half was just added on top. Then there was the salmon...it was so overcooked, it was practically jerky. I didn't know fish could be that dry and tasteless. I also wonder why servers ask questions only to ignore the answer...Do you need cream and sugar for your coffee?...just cream...(drops multiple packs of sugar with the cream). Second cup...do you need more cream...no thanks...(fills cup and drops 3 more creamers)... At least it was good coffee...but next time, I will go elsewhere for lunch. read more

Pacific noodle soup. Usual with chicken, shrimp and chilli sauce rice noodles. I'm allergic to shrimp, so they make it without, which makes for a lot of broth. And not much chicken. Makes a good partner with the Wraspberry ale but meets more protein. read more

Great selection of food without getting overly fancy. There are many gluten free options, the food is very consistant, and the staff is pretty nice. The pricing on the food is a great value, and portion sizes are filling. One of the only places I'll eat out at in Calgary. read more

Original Joes is one of my favourite places to eat for pub food. We tried to eat here a few weeks back on a Friday. 5 of us arrived at about 7:45, 3 of us ordered food within about 20 minutes. We asked the server for our food closer to 9 because it was taking forever and they weren't that busy. By 9:15, my 'hot wings' came out at room temp with a dash of sauce. I asked our server for some additional hot sauce and she wanted to send them back to the kitchen because she knew they looked like crap. When they came back out 5 minutes later, they were the same wings, colder, and with a side of hot sauce. I asked if my wrap was going to be out soon, since it had been well over an hour since we ordered, and she came back and said she had no idea how long it would be, but it would be more than 5 minutes, so I cancelled the wrap. My wings were comp'd which was good because I would have been super unhappy paying for those. We finally left at about 9:45. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Our server was apologetic, but I think she should have warned us ahead of time that they were short staffed in the kitchen. She should have recognized it took a plate of wings, nachos, and dry ribs over an hour to get to a table, rather than us having to bring it up and ask multiple times. Even after cancelling the pita, there was no manager or anything to apologize for the terrible terrible service and quality. OJs is usually our first choice when my husband and I have our date nights or want to go to a pub with friends, but I think that has changed since that experience. read more

Absolutely terrible! I would give negative stars if I could. It was busy but there was enough staff to have been able to run the place smoothly. There's young adults in their early teens that can run 200 seating so I don't know how there's so many adult employees and still handicapping the place. The wait for a table wasn't bad. Waiting for our waitress was ridiculous. It took 20 mins to get our first round of drinks and for her to take our order was another 15. She was friendly but a lost cause like the rest standing around. Our food took over an hour and it was cold. There was no service what so ever. We attempted calling another waitress but she decided to ignore us. We walked over to the hostess and she insisted we wait for our waitress. Customer service was as disappointing as their food. If you're in that plaza there's plenty of other places to eat! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! read more

It's not that great I feel like ever since Cara took them over things have gone down hill.

Placed an order through skip the dishes at 10:30 it arrived at 11:30. That wasn't the problem though. The problem was, I ordered 6 cans of pop with the order and that wasn't given to the courier to deliver. Also I ordered 2 orders of wings at 1lb each and instead received 2 containers of wings with 6 chicken wings in each container. Nowhere near a lb in weight. Also placed an order of the chicken gyoza and the bruschetta. The gyoza was well overdone and they were tiny. The gyoza was also packaged with the bruschetta and one of my roommates is allergic to tomatoes. All in all this location is fucking garbage. The only saving grace was that the skip the dishes representative that I talked to was very sympathetic and got us a partial refund. 10000% would not recommend this location, I've ordered before from a different location and it was more than satisfactory. This location just really fucked it up. read more

A couple friends of mine from work and myself met up here on Sunday of this past Thanksgiving weekend. I have been to many Oj's before and usually you can't go wrong, but this night gave a unique experience. We first ordered some beers to start, as per the usual routine. Then a couple more......then some food. All was going well until after we ordered one more round, our server told us that their debit/credit machine was down so we would have to pay cash. This would have been fine if they had an ATM onsite, but they do not. They also do not have a "back-up" like an old school credit card imprint device (yes, places still use these as a back up and they will have to enter the credit card numbers manually after). Well we did not have enough cash to cover our bill (it's a surprise we had any as most do not these days). We were a little ticked off, not at our server and not at the manager who was more than understanding and was upset in his own right that a large franchise like Oj's did not have a back up, OR and ATM at least!! One of my co-workers went across the street to try and find an ATM somewhere (lucky the mall was still open or he would have had to drive somewhere!). When he got back, the manager (Patrick) decided to make our bill the price of whatever cash we had and also bought us a couple more rounds! This was beyond what he had to do, and it showed how much he cared about the inconvenience of his customers! So two things.....Oj's needs to find a back up system for their payment system, and Patrick should be commended for what he did. read more
