Don't recommend. They said that only breakfast and lunch prices are higher than what the menu says but it's in fact dinner too. Price for quesadillas was $4 higher than what's on the menu. They nickel and dime you for everything. You can't even get a side of chips to go without paying to go with the guacamole your food comes with. Ask for the prices before ordering and paying because otherwise you'll be surprised like i was about a $4 difference. Mother and daughter were both rude. No one was there when I came to order dinner to go and I see why now. I should have just turned around. It's not the way to keep business coming in. Do not recommend. Just spent 40 mins to get my order wrong. Asked for a carne asada burrito just meat and cheese and got a nasty tortilla filled to the brim with ALL RICE and some sprinkles of cheese. I placed a to go order today which was a disaster. It took 3 different waitresses to take my order because none of them could understand English well enough to take the order. I was finally told 20 min. It took way longer than expected and I had to ask go my order twice. Once I finally got the order the waffles did not have the chocolate chips I asked for. I confronted the waitress and she said it was just waffles and showed me what she wrote down and said she repeated it to me. However when she repeated it to me she said chocolate chips and I know for a fact they charged me for them because I get this same order all the time and it was higher than normal which means they did charge me for the chocolate chips and not give them to me, then refused to refund me or fix the order. My tacos were not correct either. Don't bother eating here if you don't want to waste your money. read more

Visiting the area for a few days so my host recommended this hole in the wall for breakfast.Apart from misunderstanding my request for ice water and not iced tea the meal was very good.An omelet with cheese and veggies,side of sausage and perfectly cooked spuds and refried beans...no need for the tortillas,which were good.Green and red sauces were high octane.Salsa,mild but flavour full.Now when you look at the prices you know you are not going to get the best cut of this or that,so for what you get and for the money you spend this is a place I would frequent.Heard their fish meals are very good also.Friendly service. read more

Well, I must preface this review by saying I am sad to give only 1 star... my husband and I have been coming here for a couple years now. There aren't many places to eat in Rockport, especially for vegans. The Original Vallarta has always been our go-to Mexican joint in Rockport, however after this last visit we will be looking elsewhere. Love the decor and home style vibe; service was fast and friendly, as usual. Our waitress even helped us with the menu because it changed since our last visit. Everything was going great until the food came out. We both ordered the fiesta burrito - as recommended by our waitress - a simple bean burrito with lettuce and tomato smothered in enchilada sauce, came with a side of beans and rice. We made it very clear we did not want any meat, cheese or sour cream and it seemed like that was duality noted. When our burritos came out they were covered in what appeared to be a meat sauce and our side of guacamole tasted absolutely horrible. Our burritos did not have lettuce or tomato in them. I ate as much beans out of the inside of the burrito as I could and the sides of rice and beans but left with an awful stomach ache. I can understand now why this restaurant received so many terrible reviews recently... sad to see because it used to be pretty awesome. I recommend going elsewhere... read more

This is by far the best food we have found in Rockport. Breakfast Tacos are huge and eggs are fluffy and fresh. My wife loves the chocolate pancakes. We eat lunch and dinner there also. The OG-V is what I'm gonna call ya. Thank You Thank You Thank You I have been on the West Coast way too freaking long and this place just drove it home like a railroad spike to my heart. Why?? Because OG-V is a no nonsense no frills breakfast taco serving hole in the wall taqueria on the outskirts of town. These joints haunt my dreams and wake me up to a wet pillow. Just a quick rundown of what I had. Huge breakfast tacos $1.50 a pop served on a homemade tortilla with egg, meat and smothered in their superb green salsa. Nada Mas. The non greasy chorizo was very flavorful. The sausage was a great choice. The bacon was smokey but a little skimpy with just one piece. My friends and I ALWAYS eat here for breakfast and you can't beat the prices. $1.40 for a ginormous breakfast taco?$5.00 for 2 eggs/2 biscuits w/sausage & hash browns?? The Original Vallarta is taco truck cheap and portions are plentiful. Service is decent, not great but never bad...and honestly based on the amount of money one spends to dine here you really *shouldn't* have extremely high expectations. The coffee is also surprisingly good which ranks high in my book. This is sort of a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant. You drive down the road, almost out of town and WHAM, there it is. It's cheap, it's good. Service is iffy but for the price you really can't beat it. I had migas for breakfast after a long night of not catching fish or ZZzzz's. Add the salsa on the table and it's pretty darn good. Everything is fresh. It's not 5 star cuisine and it's way better than McDonalds. They are fast, not real friendly but they will get your food to you and it will be decent. read more

I waited 45mins for MIGAS!! Worst service!! Rolled their eyes at me when I asked how much longer my meal was going to be. They told me there was a large group in the back. That was their excuse. While others walked out after they got tired of waiting . When I checked out I mentioned to the cashier that my meal took over 45 mins "just for migas" and she wasn't apologetic at all. She told me that I wasn't the only person waiting that long and other people were waiting for 30,45, and up to 1 hour for their meals. Then turned around to the waitress next to her to talk about me in Spanish (like I didn't understand what she was saying). Waste of time and money. The food wasn't that great. read more

I love Elena's restaurant! She is one of the hardest working women I know and I appreciate this restaurant because of her. We've been customers since this was Rosie's in the early 1990's and the menu has changed just a little bit. Stick with the mexican food like flautas, green chicken enchiladas or fajitas plate. It's all good. It's not great but it's all good. I'm surprised at the reviews that say the service is poor--I have never had bad service at this place. Of course, I go in with a friendly attitude and greet all the waitstaff with with a big Hello! Try being really friendly. It might just pay off in better service. And, I try to remember that I'm not the only one in the store. Back to the food. For a quick, inexpensive meal, this is a great venue. We've eaten almost every menu item over the years with very few disappointments. Give Elena and her crew an opportunity. Go to the other one on the other side of town. One star is too many. We arrived at noon. Everybody was eating breakfast. It was Sunday. The menu they brought was a breakfast menu even though it said breakfast ends at 11 am. We wanted lunch so after a long wait the unhappy server brought a lunch menu. Another long wait later she took our order for lunch. After 30 minutes longer, an hour total time, we decided to walk out. No food, no service, no atmosphere. I'd rather eat in a barn. We used to eat there a lot. I don't know how the service can get that bad. We have always been happy at the taqueria on the north side of town so we will go there from now on. read more

So I give this three stars because the food is excellent but the customer service is just quite the opposite. By this I mean I ordered food from here the other day by accident and hadn't realized that I had done so and went elsewhere for my food. Which is how it should have been left I understand it is annoying to have someone call your business and order something then never get it because it is a waste of food and money but you should never call the customer and treat them badly.
