Horrible culinary experience. Chips and queso were equivalent to bad Velveeta, Rotel and cheap store bought tostadas . Had nothing 'authentic 'or appealing to it. We then asked for ' better' chips and 'homemade' variety was not better. The margarita on the rocks was not pleasant at all . The 'complimentary' sauces served with chips didn't have a great taste , maybe it was because the chips were just BAD and ruined the other. It was hard to get past the bad appetizers and drinks . Then the main course , green enchiladas was just ok. Better presentation when served but overall so disappointed. Any good or great Mexican/ Tex-Mex restaurant should taken great pride in drinks and appetizers. Good margaritas, tostadas, salsa and queso should be STANDARD. Very disappointed. I'm from San Antonio, so I have high standards when it comes to Mexican food, and I honestly did not expect to find such an amazing Mexican restaurant here. The beef fajitas were incredibly tender and full of flavor, the rice and charro beans were absolutely on point, and the queso was so good we couldn't stop eating it. Food was great! Amazing seafood nachos. The shredded pork enchiladas with tomatillo sauce was good. My wife ordered the Reyna plate. We went back again and ordered our seafood nachos...again. I have to say this was the best fajitas I have had in a long time! Slightly pink inside and extremely tender with an excellent flavor. We were seated immediately and our order taken within a few minutes. We were running late for an appointment so were in a hurry. Our waitress was understanding and brought us our check with our entrees. Metal silverware and ceramic plates. We had a beef fajita nacho plate and a Guerra plate. The inside is colorful and looks beachy themed. If I lived here I would be her all the time. I definitely recommend them. read more

Went with a rather large party (9 people) on Sunday night. I ordered the fish tacos which I upgraded to Snapper and although there was a 2 dollar up charge I don't regret it at all. Generous portions, a patient and very kind waitstaff and to top it all off, delicious food. I really could not ask more from a restaurant. Los Comales has been a long time favorite of mine every time I visit Rockport. Their cheese enchiladas with rice and beans are always good. Salsa is always a good measure of a place. The salsa here always tastes fresh and spicy. Just the way I like it. I definitely like the frozen margaritas as well. Other places margaritas are often weak with too much ice and not enough zing. Visiting friends in Aransas Pass and this spot was picked for our first sit down meal since arriving earlier in the day.Spacious carpark with some outdoor seating.Restaurant is one big room with a separate bar.Family friendly and a bit noisy but in a good way,with patrons enjoying themselves.Menu provides way too many options.Service was fast,friendly and discreet(a beer was delivered without me noticing!).I enjoyed two seafood enchiladas,a mix of crab,shrimp and scallops...rice,beans and salad complimented the dish.My friends enjoyed their meals.A return would be guaranteed to work through the vast menu.By the way..the margaritas are delicious but deadly if you try too many!. read more

Where to start? From now on I will use the restroom first. If a bathroom is that dirty, what is the kitchen like? I thought I was at a bait shop or indoor porta potty. I would of left if went in there first. Now to the food!! The quality of food served does not match price. I had the shrimp stuffed chili relleno which came with the cheapest shrimp possible. "Spuds" the tiny no flavor shrimp they use in cat food. They used the same cheap shrimp in their fried eggplant, $30 which is stuffed with a seafood mix. Come on. You are on the coast. Atleast pretend you have decent seafood. Especially for the price. The stuffed avocado was a ball of fried cheese with more cheese in it, served with cheese on the side. The salsa was meh! The ambiance, wait, what ambiance? The Margaret was week all around. I will not eat here again. read more

We did make the mistake of coming in during spring break, but we ate at the bar and as busy and crazy as it was Nicole served us effortlessly. She was friendly, accurate and handled everything like it was no problem! She is an awesome bartender! The food and drinks were amazing!! We were too tired and hungry to take pictures but trust me! Short story - this is a date night staple for us in Rockport. Great food, good service, fresh margaritas. Long story - their green salsa is the best in town. I get extra to go at every visit. Hubby & I usually split a Don Juanito - beef fajita sizzling plate with cilantro + mushroom cream sauce. Bonus- add the jalapeños toreado to the order. Second favorite menu item is the El Yucateca - a breaded & deep-fried half an eggplant filled with shrimp, crab, & scallops in a queso blanco. Downsides - the connected Agave Room is a smoking area . Also, the concrete block construction leads to a very noisy atmosphere. read more

Craving some great TexMex and this hit the spot! Almost everything we had was perfect. The only exception was weak rocks margaritas. They tasted great but were primarily mix - no worries- we just bought an extra shot and enjoyed them fine. The food and the service were outstanding. Our server was Marisa and she was a delight and very attentive. She joked with us a bit and kept it professional and fun. I saw the positive Yelp reviews about the flautas so was game to try them. Man! Were they outstanding! Huge and so flavorful! The chicken was so tender and seasoned just right. The charro beans were so yummy with tomato, pepper, onions and bacon. Hubs had the Mexican combo plate and enjoyed it as well. The complementary chips and salsas were a hit - If I had to I would order the tomatillo/avocado/cilantro even if it was not complementary. FYI- we wanted to eat on the bar side since we wanted to watch the ball game, but it is a smoking side so opted for the resturant side. Glad we did since we enjoyed Marisa so much. August 15, 2020 at 3:30p we went to have some margaritas in their bar area (which is a separate entrance from restaurant) We had plain, strawberry and watermelon margaritas...refreshing on such a hot day. About 5pm, we walked over to restaurant side...waited about 10 minutes for a table; COVID-19 precautions in place...tables spaced apart. We were seated next to the kitchen...and after a few minutes it became too hot to be comfortable any longer. They had fans on and the AC...and with Covid spacing ...less people were in the place than normal but, damn...it was too hot to eat the food once it arrived. We took a few bites and asked for our check. It took a long time to get to go containers and our check to but, 15 minutes later we were out of there. About 8pm we finished at home. seafood enchiladas (this was my meal) this was the first time ive had seafood enchiladas w/scallops in it (didn't eat those) my friend had a stuffed shrimp avocado...which had a lot of breading and very little avocado with 1 small shrimp...neither of us would order that again. We have been regulars at Los Comales for years and really it has been consistant with quality of food and service. Has been a go to for our families. Tonight we went there with a group of 9 and unfortunately for us we sat in the Agave room. Ordered about 630 and got out of there about 9. Food was average but the service was absolutely horrible. Today was not the norm for Las Comales or maybe it's just the folks who were working at the bar today. Figured I'd sit there rather than take up a table in the dining area. Only a few groups back there enjoying their food and drinks. Waited for service. Bartender walks back and forth several times, she makes eye contact with me but never offers to take my order, not a word. Other bartender was at cash register taking and making calls on his cell phone. Then she makes herself a drink and downs in one gulp. Nice, but can you hold off with on-the-job day drinking until customers' orders have been taken?Bad, bad, bad. Went to dining room and got seated right away. Now I know. And, yes, the food is ALWAYS good here but bar staff needs to do better. read more

Los Comales has perhaps the best fajitas I've ever had. Perfectly tenderized skirt steak is the foundation for these prepared with a variety of sauces. I like them with chili con queso. Los Comales has an epic green table sauce, a good red table sauce and long lines on a Sunday. Had driven by all weekend and seen a ton of cars so was super excited to try them out. Pulled up and not a car in sight, closed up tighter than a tick! We tried the shrimp stuffed fried avocado and shrimp cocktail. Both were very good. The stuffed avocado had frill shrimp avocado and jack cheese inside. Be sure to eat this hot. Plus served with a fish taco, beans and rice, and a small tortilla soup. Shrimp cocktail was fresh and tasty, stuffed with avocado and shrimp. Mango margarita was tasty as well and plenty of tequila.
