Good Mexican restaurant on the main strip near the Walmart in Rockport. We prefer to sit at the bar where the service is friendly and quick. Drinks are good - we like their margaritas. I'm a fan of the enchiladas verde and my wife loves the aguachiles which have a great spicy salsa with fresh vegetables. After searching Mexican restaurants in Corpus we decided on this one because the reviews. What a nice, clean place! Restrooms were nice and clean too! The service was great. The music too loud. The food, not so much. We started with chips, salsa, and a bean dip with chorizo. That was good. We ordered a ground beef quesadilla supreme, and a cheese enchilada with onions, charro beans, rice, and a side of guacamole. The quesadilla was OK, but lacked seasoning. The enchilada lacked that real cheese flavor and was more like cheese whiz or Velveeta. I couldn't even taste the red sauce that was on it because of all the cheap cheese. The guacamole was too lemony and tasted food service, and had that dull green color like it wasn't fresh. The rice was bland. The charro beans were good. The prices are fair for the food quality. In Rockport, one place has great guacamole, another great margs, another great enchiladas, and another the best charro beans. None of this is under one roof. I didn't have a marg here, but I hear they are very good. We went there today because our regular place was closed and we needed to run to Walmart anyway, so that was convenient. The service was great. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant was too hot. The food was so disappointing. The beans tasted burned, the tomatoes on the salad were old the enchilada cheese was like Velveta consistency and the chili was more like meat gravy than enchilada chili. The rice was good and moist. No tortillas are offered with your meal. The tea was fresh. We usually do not give a review one way or another, but I have to say the food quality was very poor and disappointing especially after paying $45.00 +. Table we were seated at was beyond wobbly. We fixed it enough with coasters so that our drinks wouldn't be in our laps. The queso tasted just like melted Velveeta. There was no salt and pepper at our table. We asked for salt, but had to ask again before we got it. Salsa was just ok. The chicken in sour cream chicken enchiladas was flavorful. Tequila Jalisco has the best margs in Rockport! Not only are they tasty, but the presentation is great. They're not too tart or too sweet and we often get a floater on top if we are feeling a little crazy. They are located on 35 just outside of the Walmart parking lot. Enjoy! read more

We went to 2 other Mexican restaurants 1st but they were closed, so we decided to try La Tequila Jalisco. The food was VERY GOOD but the service was horrible from the moment we were seated. Never offered us water, brought chips & salsa AFTER we ordered a trio appetizer of chips & dips. The bean dip was very flavorful but very watery. Asked us what we wanted to drink, said we didn't see drink options, she pointed to the tea, water, lemonade, etc., never offered adult beverages from the bar, we corrected her. VERY SLOW to refill our drinks. Did offer a free birthday shot for our celebration. Waited & waited for table attention from the waitress, nowhere in site most of the time, with ONLY bussiness at 2 other tables the whole time we were there, had to stand up & wave our arms to the staff to get our check. We weren't quite sure whether we were going to really stop here. It looked kind of like a fast food Mexican restaurant. However, we were pleasantly surprised after we decided to check it out before deciding. So much of Rockport has been rebuilt since the recent hurricane. This place was gorgeous inside. For a Mexican restaurant we were a little surprised not to be served chips and salsa when we sat down. Now, if we just didn't get it, knock down one star from what I gave it. Server was fast. Between us we ordered: Chili Relleno: Lots of melty gooey cheese inside a lightly battered poblano pepper - the sauce was a bit spicy but very flavorful. The quality and quantity of this plate was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. Chicken Sandwich: Cooked perfectly with a nice grilled flavor, the hubby liked this dish a lot. The french fries were standard fare - nothing special. Salsa: Very good, a bit of heat but not too much. Fresh and yummy, I could eat it with a spoon. Chips: Thin and warm, a nice compliment to the delicious salsa Prickly Pear Margarita: Sweet and refreshing. Loved this drink The establishment was clean and the staff was very polite. Arrived to Rockport later in the evening and couldn't find a restaurant with decent reviews so we hesitantly went here for dinner. After the long drive we decided to take our meals to go. We got the San Antonio platter and a margarita. When we arrived to our hotel, we were pleasantly surprised, the meal was delicious. The red salsa that comes with it is amazing! So amazing we went back the very next morning for breakfast. We arrived at 11 when breakfast is no longer served but our waitress was bad ass and got it for us anyway. We ordered chilaquiles and the barbacoa platters. Both were fantastic. Next trip back we're definitely eating here again! read more
