Terrible company!!! My family came to orkin with a mouse problem they assessed and gave us a plan that cost us over 10,000 with a guarantee that the problem would be solved and to enter us into a monthly payment of 100 to ensure that they would fix any issues that came up. We did as they said spent our money and continued with them. When after 6 months we noticed the problem did not get resolved they said give it time and we will come out again. We gave them a full year also including our monthly payments NOTHING changed we still have the problem to this day. We took them at their word and they lied to us took our money and provided nothing but debt. I advise everyone to stay far away from this company unless you enjoy being lied to and your money taken. This is a company that cares only to line their pockets and to cheat hard working middle class families with lies of solutions. If I could leave negatives stars I would. Shame on you. read more

BEWARE!!! we where told we had a mice infestation in our attic and crawl space. The Orkin inspector told us it would cost $40,000 to get rid of the mice, treat all the damaged wood in our attic and put new insulation down, and treat our crawl spaces. We had checked with our home inspection team and they told us...please get a second opinion because the wood in the attics was not damaged from the mice. We got a second opinion from a very reputable company, and they also said we didn't need all that work done. Needless to say the 2nd option was way under $10,000. read more

By far the worst service after covid. We have Orkin as pest control company in our condo assoc for years but after covid, the quality of their service have greatly declined. Our local branch phone number is (847) 724-4800. Since October last year they have been missing appointments. After the 2nd incident I have to micro manage: call a few days before the scheduled date/time to make sure the date/time is correct. But even after that they still fail, no show and when I call they say it was schedule this day and not that. I have voiced this concern how they keep on changing the date/time and with no notifications to us. It is hard to coordinate the times that unit owners have to be home for the spraying. No one in this branch seem to understand that and no changes/improvements have been made thus far. Even today they change the sched 3x. It was supposed to be Tue-Apr4, 8-10am when I called a month ago, then last week when I called to veify it was changed to Fri-Apr, 7 8-10am. Yesterday when I called they said it was 6-8am and today when I wasn't getting any call by 7:45am I called the office. They said it is scheduled 2-4pm. This is after the many times I have explained our dissatisfaction and need to keep their schedule. We have been paying our bills. I tried to get connected with corporate but I keep getting the local brach. This is absolutely terrible service. Nothing has been done to correct the issues. read more

I would not recommend Orkin. I signed up for the monthly service and found that they don't do half the things they promise to do. For the first few months, they were coming monthly. Then they missed a month and told me that the service is bi-monthly. I would think maybe I misunderstood, but they did come several months in a row. They also did not come one month after rescheduling several times. They insisted that they did come. I did receive a text that they were at the house. Both my husband and I were home but didn't hear the doorbell ring and when we went outside to see if they were there, they were not. They claimed to have sprayed the front of our house, but cannot get into our backyard without us letting them in. They should have rung the doorbell or called. When I called to cancel the service since I didn't feel I was getting much for the high cost, they told me it would take 30 days to cancel. I asked that they perform the next service appointment since I had paid for it and then they told me I had to call back after the appointment to cancel. Overall, they're frustrating. I wish I hadn't let them talk me into the monthly service. You get very little for what you pay and it's hard to get out of. read more

I just called for our first re-visit since having the service (alomst a year now), as I noticed a few ants on the counter and this is what Marie told me "We are not concerned about one or two ants and you have a service appointment coming up in just over two weeks." I don't care if I have a service appointment coming up, she should have scheduled the re-visit (that's included) or moved up the regularly scheduled service. I will be cancelling, I refuse to pay money to a company and have them treat me like they are doing me a favor. We called Orkin to our new home to help with mice and ants. We called them 3 times after that and we STILL have mice!!! Do NOT use this company! I called them to rectify and they could only send out someone to look at the home and anything additional we would be charged for!! I had a year contract with Orkin (Skokie) to manage mice. Initially, treatment for mice by placing poison. After several treatments, I had a manager look for entry points. Identified a point of entry and mouse dropping seen in the kitchen resolved. Continued monthly treatments. The Orkin worker stated that mice droppings were noted in the attic and recommended a full inspection of the house. Another manager came and provided a quote of $8,200 for a full house treatment included adding additional attic insulation. After hiring an individual to look at the attic insulation, he indicated that more insulation was needed BUT he found NO mice droppings or dead mice. After working in the attic for 4 days, cleaning and adding insulation, he confirmed his initial finding that no mice had been in the attic. Please do your homework and have another company take a look. I was taken for a year..thankful that I never signed a contract for additional work! read more

My parents used Orkin while growing up and the same technician came out for a decade plus. Orkin was then reliable and friendly service. I still remember our technician's name after 30+ years; Jeff. Orkin in Chicagoland is completely different for the worse. It is frequently a different technician everytime. They unilaterally schedule appointments without inquiring with the customer first. They notify you via email of upcoming appointments, but when you reply to the email that the appointment does not work, the email apparently goes into a black hole as the local Orkin people say they did not get it. And the fact that they do not receive reply emails does not bother local Orkin one bit. When you call to complain of such things, they say the service or branch manager will call you, and then they don't call you. This has been going on for years now, and I finally had enough. I asked for a credit because they did not treat the inside of my house because they did not call, and they would not even give me a credit. Bottomline; terrible customer service experience. I gotta believe Terminix would be better. read more

Worst service ever. I contacted Orkin regarding a tick issue at my home. They came in and immediately wanted to refuse to look in my unit because it's a condo. That was kind of odd. Nonetheless they came in and confirmed I had ticks. After they left, I never got a call back from them as to when they will come back and treat my unit. It was interesting because it looked like they just wanted out...ASAP. They asked a few questions regarding my condo building and managing boats and told them "give me a sec and I'll get it or you, I'm on the board to so have all that info." Yet they didn't even wait. Then, Every time I reached out to ask them for info or A Follow up I never received a reply. Prior to the visit, Justin-my inspector, always replied quickly and now nothing. So I stopped asking. Then I got a call from Orkin asking about my experience. I told them I never heard back and no one followed up. I was transferred to some person that is in charge of my area. When they picked up the transfer they didn't know what was the issue and how to solve it. I hung up and let it be. Never have I seen such lack of organization or customer service. I get it, shit happens and business gets busy but to never follow up or even seem to care and even after it's been over 1.5 week. Thank you but no thank you. read more

Terrible... I had drain and gnat flies in my house. So I called them and set up a time. Long story short - the first person that came to my house really didn't like his job. He didn't answer any of my questions and he seemed bothered that I would ask. He went in with a aerosol can and sprayed perhaps 3 times and then said my bill would be $270. WOW you stray 3 times in the corner of the house and then get a bill for almost $300!!! So that's $100 per spray? The spray did nothing, so again long story short - 4 different people have come to the house with more flies coming out. I even told them where the source was, but they sprayed on some of the corners of the house and then left. There is absolutely no money back guarantee and I just wasted time waiting for these people to come to the house only for them to spray a few times and then leave. There are more flies then ever in my house. I will never use Orkin ever again - another corporate company that doesn't give a damn about quality control. read more

OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX CONTRACTS OKIN ...Beware protect your family!!! .After bi-weekly bug inspection that's been ongoing since October of 2017 , after noticing my underwear drawer had been rifled threw in December, I've refused to allow these unnecessary and invading "inspection's" to continue. After a year I still had the issue with ants after they send the tech back again they said that they will send out a supervisor to check if the tech is treating area right but they never did. The other 5 star review I saw was for a person who had Al come out. I had Al too, and he was great. I can only speak to my experience, but I called for what I thought were termites. Al did a thorough inspection, answered all my questions with smart responses, and what I thought were termites turned out to be a harmless ant species. He didn't try to hard sell anything, and the inspection was free. The treatment needed if it was termites was not cheap, and I can't speak to what they're like if you hire them, but they hire good people. read more

The monthly payments include spraying the inside as well as the outside perimeter of the house. They started out fair, However, once I cancelled, they suddenly didn't notify me when they were coming. They don't seem to care about completing the service once you cancel but they sure want your payment. Should I pay if they didn't spray the inside especially when I requested it be done (like I did every month) on the last service date and they just showed up not informing me and only spraying the outside? I don't pay for services I don't get. Now they are demanding their money and sending me to collections. I would have used them again but not anymore. Poor costumer service. read more

We had used Orkin Pest Control 10 years ago for mice, and they were excellent. Therefore, when I saw traces of mice in my home again in the fall, we called Orkin (Skokie) once again. I suspected the mice were coming from our crawl space and told them that on the first visit. On that 10-minute first visit, they did not do an evaluation and merely put down poison under our sink. Then they came again and did the same. I paid for those visits. Finally, when I realized we still had the same problem and they were doing nothing to get at the origin, I called and asked for someone to come out and do a thorough evaluation. Bill came out, did what seemed like a thorough evaluation and said he'd get back to me. He did not. I called again. He then said the branch manager would come out with him and they'd give me an estimate. They came, but I received no estimate. I wrote them a letter (copying Corporate) and called twice, finally speaking to the branch manager today. He would not send me an estimate, but instead wanted to come out for a third time to do an evaluation. Why they refuse to put anything in writing is beyond me. I cancelled my service and would never recommend them. The company has gone way downhill, and I see that from other postings here. read more

I dont write reviews often.. but. Horrible service, and follow-up Where do i start, i have had horrible experience since the initial time (where they take your money). You get same day service if you call before 2pm, if your a new customer. But once you are a customer i have to wait 3 days for them to come out and check up. How is that service!!! Have had the guy come out 4 times now, not including the appointments which he has missed. And everytime i feel like he is questioning me. Thinks i am seeing things. I keep catching them with my $2 traps from Ace. I have photos and a pantry that is now raided by mice again. The "Manager" has failed to call me back 3 times today and everytime i call for the few hours i keep getting the answer that "he is at lunch". I have worked in professional setttings and have never taken a 4 hour lunch, or not put the customer first! I expect a call from the General Manager or Corporate soon read more

I have mice and ants issues in my home. Despite my son's referral to call Terminex, I called Orkin for my ultimate demise. When I spoke with the person who called the first time, I was told that they do not use spay for ants but instead they use some kind of non toxic chemicals that they inject into the walls. When the technician came a few hours later, he sprayed the corners here and there in the house. I told him that the person on the phone specifically told me that Orkin uses some special stuff to inject in the walls, he replied that some people do things differently. That he only uses spray. Anyway, during his first visit, he could not access our attic and our crawl space because we had stuff obstructing the entry. The technician said that he will take care of those 2 spaces on his follow up visit next week. Today wasd his follow up visit and we made sure that the access to the attic was available to him. He asked if we had a step-ladder to access it. I do not have a ladder and I offered a chair. The chair was not tall enough for him and he did not even attempt to go into the attic. When i asked him that how come they dont carry proper tools for their works, he said he left the house early at 6 oclock and that the office does not open until 7 am, and that he does not carry any ladder in his car. He also said that the attic entrance is to small for his body built. That he is not skinny enough to go in there. So I asked him to tell his manager to send someone else to service the attic. His reply was that nobody else except him will come to my property. Orkin's website says that they are open 24 hours everyday. I will never call them again and I will never recommend them to anyone. This company is terrible! Visits by them have been a scheduling nightmare. Their techs almost never appear on time. A couple of times I have received a bill in the mail for "perimeter service" in which they claim to have shown up and sparyed the outside of my home because no one was home. However, they had just shown up randomly without a scheduled appointment. When they do appear, there is little care taken in their work. Their technicians rush through three floors spraying chemicals and take off. When I have compained about the scheduling and serivce problems, their Skokie office just says that I have a 1 year contract and can't get out of it. The chemicals they use can be bought on Amazon.com. I'll never work with these people again. read more

My building signed a year contract. Their service has been horrible. When given special instructions for who to contact in the building....despite being told multiple times...doesn't seem to sink in. Requested copies of bills and contract. They said they would send them. That was 2 months ago. Any service they provide...just go on line, do some research and head to your local Home Depot. They basically stole money from us - they did a bogus "perimeter check" for $70 and promised to come back and spray in the house for free. Never showed. I tried to schedule for them to come out but they said they'd charge us again. Enjoy my $70 Orkin - you're horrible! The call center rep was more helpful and happy to close my account than actually assist me and retain me as a customer. I can't say enough about this company. I own a condo in a building that had a complete gut rehab. For the first couple years there was no problem but then I started seeing roaches. YUCH. I would rather have weekly root canals then have roaches. As days wore on, they moved in by the hundreds. My problem was that nobody else saw them. Then it got alot worse and when others saw them, the association decided to hire an exterminator. We got the service for a year, once a month. The technology they use is clean, odorless and not harmful to children, pets, or humans. We found that the problem was coming from the unit right below me, just my luck. Orkin had the problem under control within two months. They keep coming to make sure they get any lingering bugs. Our particular technician is Mason. He is so kind, respectful, and flexible. I had an ant and spider problem in my new house we are refurbishing. The people were great on the phone and the first person to come out and look/take care of the problem was very polite and knew what he was talking about. I am pretty pleased with this place so far. They come out every two months and spray around and inside the house. The chemicals they use are pet friendly to my dog. read more

I give them absolutely no stars and horrible rating BECAUSE THEY LIE!!!!! In 1996 I contracted with them for Carpenter Ant control on a home purchase. I was told that after the initial treatment I needed to have the service for at least one year after and that then I would have a lifetime guarantee against the recurrence of the ant problem. Well I had the service until 2007 when I stopped it. Now the ants are back and they say to me there is no such Lifetime Guarantee!!! Their service man Jim DeMarco wrote up the original contract and made the LYING STATEMENT on behalf of Orkin!!! Now they say you need to start up again and pay $50-55 a month and then they reinstate the guarantee. Who are they fooling they lie and they don't care. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should anyone deal with this company they con you into a false belief and lie to your face about their Guarantee!!! We called Orkin 4/26/18 to get help with squirrels in our attic. Orkin scheduled a visit for the afternoon of 4/26. Because Orkin promised to tackle the problem that same day, we cancelled an appt. for 4/28 that we had made with another company. A guy from Trutech arrived at our door as scheduled on 4/26, said Trutech contracts with Orkin to handle squirrels, then informed us that he was not prepared to do anything at that time to address the problem. He said he and his supervisor would return 4/27 to start the trapping and removal process. We told him we'd be out, and he assured us that everything is done from the outside, so no problem. We returned home 4/27 to a phone message from him telling us that because he couldn't get a LADDER, Trutech would not be able to help us out at all, and we should look for another company. So we still have our squirrels and we are scrambling to find someone else. Will never give Orkin OR Trutech our business. read more
