By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If I could give a 0 in here I would, I called to inquire about one of there procedures. Simply doing my due diligence. This doctor was actually recommended by friend who happened to gush about his work for hours. The lady who answered the phone sounded much older. Her tone was dismissive right off the bat. I highly recommend Dr. Dean Johnston. He & his staff are professional, courteous & kind. The moment you walk in the door, you will fill comfortable. Every member of his staff that I had to interact with was caring & thoughtful to my needs. CONSULTATION... I had interviewed other Plastic Surgeons before deciding to go with Dr. Johnston. After my consultation I had no doubts. I wanted Dr. Johnston to do my surgery. He spent so much time discussing my options etc. during the consultation. I don't believe another Dr. has ever spent that much time talking with me before. I never once felt like, he had to get going to do other things. He took his time with me until I was satisfied with all my answers to my questions. DR'S ATTITUDE / APPROACH... I interviewed (2) other surgeons besides Dr. Johnston. I went with Dr. Dean Johnston because he was the most down to earth. He was friendly & modest. He related & seem to understand my worries & anxieties. He & his wife Kathy got me to open up & talk about what was important to me & what I was expecting from the surgery. He eased my concerns with his professionalism & a soft touch of humor (to help me relax). Kathy (his partner & wife) was very gracious & gentle with misc. procedures. You will be impressed after your consultation & will not want to bother to continue researching other surgeons after meeting Dr. Johnston & his staff. RECOVERY... I am still in the recovery stage; however... the recovery is going very well. The incision is healing beautifully & there were absolutely no issues. Once you are scheduled for surgery, they make sure you have everything for your recovery A HEAD OF TIME. My husband did not have to worry about going to the Pharmacy for meds after the procedure, because we had everything before it. Their pamphlets & instructions for preparation & recovery were excellent. I knew exactly what to expect. Their vitamins they had me start taking prior to surgery actually cleared up my light blemish issues on my face. My face is still very clear, what a bonus! In addition, I had NO BRUISING. Bruising was prevented by the supplement he had me take the day of procedure & thereafter. PROCEDURE LOCATION... When I had heard that the procedure was at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee I was bummed because of the drive. Oh my goodness, it was worth the drive! The hospital was great! The hospital did a pre-register over the phone which totally cut the time in registering when I got there. The nurses & techs were so kind & gentle with me. They made me feel special, like I was their only patient. If I ever have to go back to Health Central again, I would welcome it! HOW I FOUND DR. JOHNSTON's OFFICE... I researched the internet for surgeons. His website was easy to navigate. Patient forms are available for downloading which saved much time from filling out at his office. I have been nothing less than thrilled with all of my procedures that I have received from Dr. Johnston. When I was contemplating a breast augmentation fifteen years ago and had consults with two other very prominent Orlando plastic surgeons, their response to my request was "Why are you here about your breasts, you should have your nose done". I had such a degree of comfort with Dr. Johnston and his staff that I left and scheduled surgery within a month's time. This was after wrestling with the idea for years. Further, when I asked him about getting a TCA peel to improve my facial wrinkles and texture, he responded by saying "I am not so convinced that you even need a peel. Let's get you on a good skin care regimen first and then we will revisit the request." This doctor does not sell you anything you do not need and the time, care and consideration that he and his staff affords his patients is amazing. I know several people that have had cosmetic procedures with other doctors and only saw their surgeon at the consult and five minutes before surgery. Some practices have a P.A. open and close the procedure. This is NOT the case with Dr. Johnston. He is with you from start to finish and thereafter. He spends a great deal of time with his patients and his clients travel from all over the United States just to be under his care. Lastly, I remember when Dr. Johnston shared a story with me about a terrible accident that occurred several years ago. He was on call at the hospital and a patient arrived in the ER facially disfigured, requiring extensive reconstructive and plastic surgery. Everyone was freaking out but he walked in and very calmly assured the attending physicians that this was as simple as a puzzle and that he needed to just match one side of the face to the other. I am appalled by the appearance of my skin after receiving CO2 laser resurfacing on my face from Dr. Johnston. I chose to have the procedure to reduce the appearance of acne scars on my face. I informed Dr. Johnston that I was NOT looking for perfect skin. I asked him if I could expect a 50% improvement in my skin, and he told me at least 50% but most likely more. What I received was at least a 50% decline in the overall texture of my skin and only minimal reduction in some acne scars and no change in other scars. The procedure was completed in June 2014 and after nearly 9 months of recovery, I continue to have scars, redness and hyper and hypo pigmentation to my face. One scar, that I noticed the same day as the procedure is 3 inches long and in a diagonal pattern across my cheek. Another unexpected outcome was Dr. Johnston's unprofessional demeanor when after months of listening to him tell me all sorts of ridiculous reasons (he used the laser in a different direction, one side of my face gets more sun than the other) for my scars, he then said to me "you had a good outcome, what do you want me to do?" Up to that point Dr. Johnston and his wife had given me facials and hydroquinone which were not improving the scars. I am completely distressed that I paid nearly $3000.00 for the CO2 laser that visibly made my skin look worse. My friends and family are also in disbelief that my skin is actually worse than prior to the procedure. After consulting a "facial" plastic surgeon and reading research articles, I discovered that I could not substantiate all the information given to me by Dr. Johnston. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) states " . . . causes of scarring include operator error in the form of excessive fluence or density, too many passes or pulse stacking." I also learned that not only did Dr. Johnston use the incorrect laser for my skin and condition, but that it was the incorrect procedure. Based on my opinion and my experience with Dr. Johnston, I cannot recommend anyone to Dr. Johnston for the CO2 laser procedure. I do recommend that careful consideration be conducted with extensive research though both literature and recommendations from patients who were pleased with their outcomes. The CO2 laser resurfacing is only one of many procedures available, it is wise to look at all procedures. Lastly, it is imperative that one receives treatment from a plastic surgeon that is skilled and experienced with "facial" plastic surgery. read more

Dr Johnston has been appointed "Best Plastic Surgeon" by the Orlando Magazine for ten consecutive years. As a very satisfied client, I know how much he deserves this acclaim. I have had two procedures performed by DJ. He "ironed out" my facial wrinkles by means of a chemical peel, which was done with great skill. Before the procedure, performed under anesthetic, he explained my options and their various benefits. He was happy to reinforce these facts and recommendations as often as necessary, until I was certain I was choosing the right option. The opportunity was frequently given to ask questions and make an informed decision. The option which was decided on is not one to be taken by the faint-hearted but has been worth the discomfort experienced. My husband suggested that I consider abdominoplasty to fix the ravages of a "t" cut C-section and carrying a big baby (10 pounds). I didn't want to do this because I was scared, since it is major surgery and also because of the high cost to our family. My husband and I decided that it is worth the cost to prevent further health problems and to better my self-esteem. I started interviewing several surgeons, giving a deposit to one of them. A neighbor mentioned Dr. Johnston earlier on, but I was tired of giving up my time and meeting and discussing and getting naked for an assessment. Something told me to meet him, so I called and got a very quick and convenient appointment. Dr. Johnston's thorough explanations, his concern for his patients, his innovative procedures to help his patients heal better and reduce pain, his staff, his friendliness and his honesty made me question whether I should lose my deposit with the other surgeon or not. His quote was higher than the other surgeon, but I was so much more comfortable and trusted Dr. Johnston, that I forfeited my deposit. And it was worth it! Dr. Johnston never let me down! I felt as if the office was open just for me. He and his staff made me feel special and taken care of all the time. One of the nicest people I have ever met. The staff is wonderful and office is remarkably clean and gorgeous. Dr. Johnston honestly changed my life, my surgery went great and I couldn't be happier with my results. The Dr. is sincere, direct, and honest. He was very direct and explained everything to me about my surgery and encouraged me to ask any questions whenever. The hospital is a little far I thought until I got there and understood why he uses it. It's beautiful! Clean and brand new looking and the people are so nice there and took care of me and my family waiting on me.
