I came here for a date last night. Ormsby's seems like the most perfect date venue: Giggle together as you both do terribly on skeeball! Enjoy some friendly competition on the arcade games! The guy can get all up in your personal space and teach you the "proper technique" for tossing bocce balls! Unfortunately I think the execution is lacking. The last few times I've been have been on a weekend, and the line is often 3-4 teams deep to play a round of Bocce. Thinking it'd be a little better during the week, we came on a Tuesday, but the downstairs bar area (where all the games are) was "insane" as described by an upstairs employee. It's great that Ormsby's is getting so much business even on a weeknight, but having to wait forever to play games takes away some of the wow / fun / great date night factor. So instead, we sat at the bar for dinner and drinks (truth be told, the bar is where I prefer to be anyway). I love that our bartender, Ricky, made sure to not only introduce himself but get our names as well. They still have an excellent selection of beer, and all of their selections are available for purchase at Hop City right down the road. I tried one of their beer cocktails, a Berliner, which was a mix of hefeweizin with raspberry frambiose, vanilla vodka, and orange something or other. I really liked it, despite the $11 cost. It tasted more like a an interesting beer than a beer-infused cocktail, which I liked. For dinner I had the chicken pot pie which was better than I thought it was going to be. It was the perfect portion size for one, so I definitely recommend it if you're trying to eat lighter. All of the sandwiches came with an enormous amount of fries. Many of the other food options here are tempting and go with the game/carnival theme; soft pretzels, hand-dipped corn dogs, and (most tempting) pimento cheese and corn fritters. If you're not watching what you eat you can defintely have a field day here! Oh - and people STILL don't know where this place is. I ran into a group who were standing right in front of the door when they asked "Can you tell us where Ormsby's is?". If you haven't been, note that it won't be obvious especially since you can't see it from the street. It's across the way from Yeah! Burger. Go down the few steps and look for the wooden door with a fancy 'O'. I'm still not a fan of the parking and restroom situation. And this is totally my preference, but I prefer places that are just a little calmer. Ormsby's is still on my "won't suggest it but won't protest it" list for Midtown spots. read more

The drinks weren't cheap but also not outrageous. My Bloody Mary was yummy! The staff was all super friendly and helpful. The games were a blast -such a variety, and all with plenty of room and in good repair. And I love that it's non smoking. As someone who doesn't like just sitting at bars, this is the perfect place to meet friends or go on a date! read more

Always flying solo this pub is so chill and low key. Didn't really care about the game room just good beer at the bar. Great selection of beers, burgers, sandwiches and good ole selection of bratwursts to die for. Nice space for a mature crowd atleast when I went :/. This place is tons of fun! If you're going on a first date and you want it to be a relaxed, enjoyable and social setting that this is definitely the place for you! The entire bottom level is full of games and different social activities. There are bars on both levels and plenty of televisions, standing space and great drinks! Their french fries are great and a good option for finger food to enjoy in between gaming. It can get a little loud at times but if you like being around people and enjoying a few drinks, this place is a great option. read more

This place was really hard for me to find. The door was tucked away under stairs and there wasn't really a visible sign, so my friends had to come out and find me. Service totally sucked. It was a Sat night, so the place was packed and we had to pretty much wait by a table and then snatch it as soon as its occupants left. Seriously, we asked a waiter for help before that and he just shrugged us off saying tables were first come first serve. He didn't even take our names down to put on a waiting list or anything. And once we got a table, our waitress took forever to bring out our orders, check up on us, and give us a bill. I had to remind her to bring out my drink order (after everyone had their food) cause she'd totally forgot. It was a busy night and there was a party in one of the rooms, so I like to imagine that service isn't usually that bad. I loved how huge the place was and my food was really good too. The game concept is pretty awesome and the crowd (20-30 range) was just my type. I'd most definitely go back, although I might grab dinner somewhere else and come here for games and drinks instead. read more

Pretty good place for grabbing drinks with a group. You can attempt to grab a table or there's plenty of standing room. Menu is pretty extensive. My friends and I ordered a bunch of appetizers to split and found it better this way. Great list of cocktails, beers and liquor. Not just your typical large brews but also plenty of craft brews as well. Bad part is that it can get loud in there at night and hard to get a table. Parking deck is good or can you valet. Nice interior and it looks clean. I did check their current health score because of their low score a few months ago. Gladly I can report it is currently 100. Now to the food. I ordered the Bruno burger with coleslaw as the side. I like my burgers a little pink on the inside and man the burger was cooked perfect. The coleslaw was coleslaw but still good. The sautéed onions and mushrooms were grilled real well and complimented the grass fed burger. The burger is a huge 1/2lb patty and tasted great. Overall I will come back here again PS my friends Rueben sandwich was one of the best he has ever had plus the onion rings were GIGANTIC! read more

I visited Ormsbys a few week's ago for a pre-Christmas gathering with coworkers. Ormsbys is located in a small plaza downtown with many other restaurants and shops. It can be easy to miss (in fact, I did miss it and had to ask another shop owner for help), because it is not really labelled and the map does not do the best job of indicating it's location. The best parking is the free retail parking lot adjacent to all shops in the area, although it can be a little challenging to find a spot during peak times. From the parking garage they are located down a flight of stairs to the right, in a building with a door without any labels, but a large O. The food was okay, with my favorite items being the guacamole (perfectly seasoned) and the buffalo wings. A lot of the other items seemed to lack seasoning. The vibe was pretty casual with games to keep you entertained as you mingle with your friends. I enjoyed playing the games with my coworkers after eating lunch. Came here on a Team Dinner event. This place is kind hidden. But it is a cool place to come with friends. Food: 3/5 We Ordered the braised short ribs , their guacamole, popcorn shrimp, spinach dip, and calamari and chai tea creme brûlée. The popcorn shrimp was pretty amazing. Not over fried and not under cooked. I did enjoy the creme brulee, not too sweet and not liquidity. It was also pretty big portion. They had a great selection of beers too. My only concern that not many entree dishes that we had, stood out. Their selection of food seemed to be creative and try to be a unique gastropub. Service: 4/5. I know we had a private room for a private party. However, Their service were great. Always checking on us, and giving us recommendations. They cleaned up plates and cups very rapidly. Had so much fun our night out here! One of our servers wasn't very friendly... they ran out of wings (before 8pm on a Friday night) & didn't ask if someone wanted the bottom of the barrel for their beer (looked very different from other beers we had ordered before) & she tried to tell us we ate the same. I have to say I enjoyed Ormsby's. The decor was very woodsy and had a clean feeling to it. It had a restaurant like feeling upstairs, not the bar I was expecting, and the downstairs was a mix between bar, tables and games. I never made it back to the bocce ball area, but plan to in the very near future. Based on the other reviews I expected the downstairs area to be ridiculously busy, but it was fine. Busy yes, wall to wall with no room to move, no. We were lucky enough to get a table and we all ordered dinner. The menu has an eclectic selection and several looked good to me. I settled on The Richard, which is your basic club with avocado. It was super yummy and very large. I took half home for lunch tomorrow. Friends got the corn dog and, while they said it didn't taste like a traditional corn dog, said it was very good. They have a huge beer menu and a full bar. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with the menu. I met up with friends who had been there since one (I arrived about 8:45) and I think that's the way to go. I have been here a couple times and it has always been a good time. The best thing about this place is there selection of drinks and all the games you can play. They have a wide selection of drinks. They will probably have anything that you are looking for. They have a lot of old school games along with all the classic bar games like pool and darts. We enjoy playing bocci ball and shuffle board. Really cute spot! I have to admit, I had no clue where to enter this restaurant. I visited with a former colleague who thankfully knew where the restaurant was. It was already packed when we arrived, but we lucked out with a table in the upstairs area. I was a bit said to discover that they were having 'kitchen issues' and therefore weren't able to offer all of their menu items. I'm not sure if this would have totally changed my mind on what to order, but some of the things looked quite good and I may have tried them. In any case, I had some wine and the chicken entree. It was really really tasty and nicely seasoned. The portion size was nice and also very well priced for the quality. The drink list was pretty large and definitely has something for everyone. I've been hearing about Ormsby's for a while now, from my friends, but haven't had a chance to venture over there until a few weeks ago!!! And let me just say...I love it !!! I had such a blast out there, it's a great place to go whether you're with friends or even on a date! I wouldn't go there for a "first date" however, especially on the weekend, because it was PACKED !!!! I didn't eat here on this particular night, so can't really comment on the food, but we did grab some beers, and venture downstairs to see what games were available. My only complaint is I wish that they had a bigger space to work with, and more games to play, because 9 times out of 10, you're not going to be able to play anything while you're there. I mean the space is so small, you're literally standing on top of one another. Maybe they'll consider expanding in the future (please please PLEASEEEEEE)!!!! :D We did however get in the line for Bocce ball, and ended up making some great new friends in the process through playing with them, and that's what socializing and games are all about right? Needless to say, it's definitely a great spot to start your night off, and to potentially meet new folks, or bond with those you came with and already know!!!! Our experience tonight with our service and food was horrendous. Our greeting from Cody? Cory? (A girl) was "do y'all want anything besides water right now or are you ok". She never refilled our drinks. All of our alcoholic drinks were empty. Never introduced herself. Barely pre-bussed. All steps of service were NOT fulfilled. None of them Food- came out staggered. And cold. Fries weren't even luke warm. It took 24 minutes after my fish and chips arrived for my brothers burger to hit the table. Both my brother and my dads burgers were cooked incorrectly. I got up and talked to Whitney the manager who was very sweet. Only thing I'll say.... no one EVER fixed our food. We had cold food in front of us... until the very end when we left. Restaurant wasn't even half full. Server looked ticked, miserable and irritated. Never got ONE SINGLE APOLOGY from her. I have been a server/bartender for 15 years. Went here last night for the first time that wasn't a Friday or Saturday night and had a great time! Our server Axl was super nice and really informative and had a great sense of humor. I ordered the Southern burger (jalapeños? With bacon on a burger? Yes, please!) and my friend just had some of their beers on tap (there are a lot!). Everything was pretty much on-point: Tidy place while still having that cozy tavern atmosphere. Not too packed (like it is weekend nights). Service was quick and personable. The food was actually good, the only thing that I'm counting against them is that the fries came out soggy and old tasting... but Axl swapped them out pretty quickly for some fresh ones! For my pre birthday celebration the day prior to my birthday I invited a couple of friends to celebrate with me at this wonderful pub. They have plenty of games to play on the bottom floor and a bonus bar below too. The servers and bartenders are super accommodating too. This time I got the ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. What more could I ask for? Their fries are delicious with siracha mayo. I did not order food here. It looked very good. I might have had a better time if I chose to stay upstairs where there was room to breathe. Downstairs, it takes forever to get a drink on a Friday or Saturday night. I feel like I am back at a crappy bar in college except everyone is better dressed. The drinks were good if overpriced, but $12 for a cocktail is becoming standard. They have lots of board games, but all of the good ones were gone when I was there. It usually gets pretty packed on weekend nights late into the night so plan accordingly if you're going with a group. My girlfriend and I ordered the Bangers and Mash. I got sweet potato fries instead. Best, crispest sp fries ever!! Everything was delicious, including her mashed potatoes. It's a bar slash arcade game slash little hangout spot for both college students (Georgia Tech being blocks away) and young professionals all in the same place, that can gather for drinks/good food! Parking is free and conveniently located in a parking garage nearby. If you are looking for a fun date place or just a place to go hang out with your friends without having to dress up - Ormsbys is your place! Ambiance: The time you arrive at Ormsby's determines the atmosphere that will be there. If you go early in the afternoon, expect a relaxed restaurant vibe. However, if you go in the evening (especially during the weekend) expect a packed bar atmosphere. Games galore: They have a ton of board games upstairs for you to play and other types of bar games downstairs (boccee ball, darts, shuffleboard, skee ball, pool tables). My favorite game is trying to get the hook onto the ring - definitely try this after a couple of drinks! Watch your fav team: they have so many TVs there that you can catch your favorite college and professional team all in one sitting. They are more than happy to put on a hockey game (which is extremely important to me!) Drinks: They have an extensive selection of beers on tap and a ton in bottles that you are bound to find something you like. I love their oatmeal coffee stout!!! They also have ciders if that's your thing (no Stella though - sad face) Food is good for bar food: I got the beer braut with a side of fries and a pickle. YUM! My friend got the shrimp tacos and devoured them in less than 10 minutes. I have a tendency to eye people's food and I will tell you that everything ordered looked good. Recommendation: GO HERE! Just know that every other person in Atlanta is probably going to want to go here at some point throughout the night, so get here early or be comfortable in an extremely crowded place. Pros: My favorite thing about Ormsby's is the basement area. There are a plethora of games and room for you and your friends to hang out and enjoy yourselves. The taps at Ormsby's are ever changing and normally offer great selections of beer. Cons: Can often be very crowded (some people love this, some people hate this). Pricing: Dinner prices range from about $9-20 per person and drink prices start around $5 for beer and are around $10 for mixed drinks. There is no cover to enter Ormsby's. All in all, Ormsby's is one of my favorite bars in Atlanta! The vibe is great and the food is good. I love to come here with a group of people and have a good time! read more
