There was a bit of a wait, but the food arrived hot and well-seasoned. There are only two single bathrooms, so be prepared for a bit of a wait there as well. And the drinks? Strong, delicious, and definitely did their job. I'd come back just for those alone!

I didnt make a reservation but walked in and was seated immediately. Dim lights and everything had a hint of purple to it. Definitely like the change from what it was before when crazy Cajun was there. Just a chill kick back spot for food and drinks and good music. I ordered catfish strips and some wings. Didnt realize it was happy hour for wings though, or else I would have got more. It did take a bit for the food to come out but it was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection when it did. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only issue was I didnt understand the tab at first. In a digital world where we dont get to see the actual tab, I had to ask why it was the price it was. She told me tax, but when I got the actual receipt, it was actually because they added gratuity. I just think being transparent about that goes a long way, and I actually tipped 7% on top of the %15 already on there. Other than that, a really good experience and I would definitely go back for more food.

The cocktails were always good but have gotten even better. The Is Your Real Name Fonzi is my fave cocktail to pair with one of their cigars. Same with the food. It was always good but is even better now. The wings are fire and the collard dip is a fave. Salmon spaghetti is delicious. Beef tips are great too. There's live r&b and soul music multiple times a week. Great happy hour specials. This spot is a whole vibe. Friendly service. I'm always running into a friend or acquaintance when I go. It's the culture for me plus no foolishness. Love that for US. I love what they've cultivated here.

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

And while the crowd might trend older, these people have aged gracefully, maintaining a sense of cool. The story behind Crooners is fantastic. A former teacher, the woman owner made money building health facilities. She fell in love with a piano man on a cruise and built Crooners as a testament to her loving spouse. Sadly, her husband passed away before Crooners came to fruition. Her philanthropic work for developing countries and the indigent is well documented. She has a big heart. This was our first time at Crooners, and to test the waters, we drove up the Sunday evening of Memorial Day weekend to enjoy a R & B lounge singer in the free Maggie's Piano Lounge. While the sightlines at Maggie's are ridiculous (it's used as a holding pen for the bigger venues, and the patrons coming and going block your view), we had a great time. Dave, the vigilant and hard-working manager for all of Crooners, also acts as publicist, and was kind enough to show us the other venues. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Marci was our server, and she covers the rooms like a safety on a football field. How she knows when everyone is ready for another drink, to order, or for the check is magical. The food was good, and the menu covers all tastes. We enjoyed Crooners and will return when the performer matches our taste. Knowing what to expect helps. The Minneapolis metro area is fortunate to have a music venue that caters to music lovers outside the mainstream. Go and support Crooners. You'll enjoy yourself.

Pour is in a little strip mall. They have added black curtains and some cozy seating areas from when we were here last. Nice updates. Our waitress was very accomdating until she got busy then we felt we were forgotten. We ordered the Drunken shrimp , bread with olive oil and the avocado toast to start with. The drunken shrimp is just as good as we remember the saffron sauce is sooooo good! but there were 3 of us sharing the apps and it only came with 2 crostini's we asked for a 3rd so we could each have one but little did we know that one very small skinny piece of bread had a $1.00 charge to it. The steak bites with their homemade blue cheese sauce was to die for melt in your mouth!! I even asked if we could buy some of the blue cheese sauce, she said no but that she would bring us another dish of it but she never did. My girlfriend ordered a cranberry mule drink, she was charged an extra $1.00 for the cranberry. We also ordered the goat cheese with sauces that were very delicious with an ample amount of crackers. We got the chocolate Ganache cake to share for dessert. But............ the waitress never took our empty dirty plates but showed up with the dessert with the mess on table, I asked for extra clean plates but she never brought them. Everything we ordered was very delicious, but as the night progressed our service got worse, we asked for the bill but she never came back to get our payment and we had questions my girlfriend walked it up to the bartender with our payments. 2 of us were paying cash and one a credit card and we were charged an extra fee of $5.18 for her using a credit card. That is when we saw the $1.00 charge for 1 piece 3/8" bread and the $1.00 for cranberry mule. Talk about nickel and diming. We would love to go back but unsure if I can get past some of these things. Also, now looking at the bill even closer, none of us had a mimosa and we were charged $8.95 for one.How did we miss that? All added up we paid $16.00 more than we should have. CRAZY!! Sadly, Don't know if I'll be back.
