Food tastes great but 2 Service take out bartender gives it to you and she's very busy but she's very fast so she gets a 5 Ambiance 4 I went there several times and one thing you should know is if you don't pay cash they charge you extra for a card and they just kind of get jazzy with you when you say something about it. Everybody does that. so I try to pay cash and another thing most importantly every time I've went there it's been great the food wise but this last time ... I had a club sandwich with fries and I was hurting and feeling so ill afterwards. I d​on't think it was anything like poisoning but I do think it was just so full of fat my body was rejecting it. I love Big Louie's! Great "local" feeling bar. Awesome good, awesome prices and bar bingo twice a week! We came in for lunch on a Monday most recently and split the $10 California burger with steak fries lunch special. 1st time being here. I am sitting waiting for my to show up. I am looking...they have no ceiling I am looking around. The dust on the ceiling, pipes and vents are ridiculous. A table where people are eating has very dusty pipe and an air vent above them and it is so thick with dust. I just looked up and I can see the back of a TV and dust is just hanging off the cords. We wanted a local bar to watch the thunder vs pacers NBA game and stumbled across Big Louie's. It's a really big bar and grill! We came on a Sunday evening so it was a little dead but I'm sure the bingo nights get busy. The service was a bit lackluster, our server was a bit hasty and unfriendly. She cut me off a few times when I was asking questions and also said we couldn't split chicken wing flavors. We ended up ordering a French dip for me and my husband ordered the walleye. After thinking about it a bit, we couldn't get our servers attention after about 15 min so we put in an order with the bar tender who was walking by. She let us put in an order of naked bone-in chicken wings with two different sauces which was great and was actually really tasty! The French dip bun was super soft and awesome, I didn't realize there were onions so that was a bummer but good otherwise. The portion of sides was HUGE, I got SO MANY waffle fries and my husband got so much broccoli with his walleye which he said was also cooked really well. read more

First they do NOT have pool tables anymore. Pool tables at Louie's have been gone since before Covid and no idea why online searches say they have tables they do NOT have any pool tables. In short they had some female manager who had no clue how to run a pool room (that was very busy and profitable) so she drove it into the ground and tried to blame customers for her terrible management of the basement gaming are. Beyond not having pool, if you go there for food, the food is typical bar food (lower on the quality side IMO) not terrible just acceptable. The service is also decent (not great but not bad). Since no pool tables anymore I won't be back and sad since they had a fun little basement pool area before, still sad it's gone. But bad managers can destroy anything . read more

Living within minutes of Big Louie's, my husband and I finally got around to visiting and trying it out! We came hungry and thirsty - VERY pleased to see their happy hour went to 7 on Monday-Friday! You can't beat the prices for drinks and apps, see the picture I attached to this review. The parking lot was mostly full, although we found parking right away. Upon walking in, it was busy but we got seated in minutes. My husband ended up getting the daily special, also attached as a picture to this review, and was very pleased with the taste, size, and price. We got the spinach dip as an happy hour app and the cost was great and the taste has had us craving it since we ate it, every last bit. The potato skins I ordered were tasty, and lots of them! Plus lots of toppings included. We will be back and continue to watch for their specials on their Facebook page! read more

Came here for a work happy hour and the staff was very friendly and accommodating on short notice for a larger group of people. The happy hour was from 3-7 and drinks and appetizers were inexpensive. The food was your typical bar food, as were the happy hour drinks. The space inside is large and there is also a large patio outside. Plenty of parking available. Good little local spot. read more

I came here with my dad and we sat at the bar. It took a bit for someone to notice we were there, but there was only one bartender and she was having to take care of everyone, answer the phones, and deliver food. I got the pork carnitas sandwich and it was good. A little on the dry side, but I imagine that's because I couldn't get the cheese or coleslaw due to an allergy. Good: Server was pleasant and working hard to tend to all guests in bar and surrounding tables. Bad: Food. We ordered the chicken wrap and crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken was overcooked and dry and lacked any flavor. Ugly: The space needs a deep cleaning. The front entry doors were covered in fingerprints. The server station at the bar was filthy underneath and in plain sight from the high top bar table we were sat at. Beer lines could use a cleaning, we had switched from tap to bottle beer due to funky taste. Sad: lower level is closed. Once a fun spot with pool tables, darts and a fun bar, is no longer. First time to Big Louie's in Crystal and it was exactly what I wanted. 1) Local, not a national chain. 2) Not a dive bar, but could be if they wanted to be. 3) Had walleye on the menu. We were there for lunch on a Friday and it was uncrowded. There were a handful of locals at the bar having spirited conversations. Very neighborhood-bar kind of vibe, which I like. Christy P. provided super friendly and quality service. Water and soda glasses never got empty. I don't have the chance to have walleye in TX, so it's a priority to find some when I'm in MN. The walleye sandwich here was beer battered (nice and lightly) and served on a hoagie roll with chips, pickle spear and side of tartar sauce. Enjoyed everything on the plate. The food was dry and bland. I guess anything tastes good when you are as drunk as this crowd. The bathrooms are in horrible shape, seriously don't go in there, you don't know what you will step in. They obviously sell more drinks than food. It's a bar I should except that, but 3:00pm on a Sunday-get it together people. I have no reason to ever visit this establishment again. Next time I'll go to the gas station and get what would seem like a quality sandwich compared to what they served. read more

Ummm... it's okay. I went on a Friday night, not really knowing what atmosphere to expect. 2 story dive bar, that serves food and drinks. There are pool tables (5 to be exact) and I think 3 or 4 dart games for $1. I never interacted with anyone, but the guy who ID's you at the door and the security or bartender who was trying to shutdown the lower level at the end of the night. Both were cool.. Over all, cool vibe. Everyone seems to mind their business and enjoy what they came for. This review was not about food, I didnt' try any. The drinks were strong, so if that's up your alley, come thru. It's hard to find a local spot that doesn't charge $8 per hour for a pool table, so this was nice. I'll be back... I've been here pre-Covid and the female who ran the basement pool room was way out of her depth. So Covid comes and goes and I go back and guess what, they now totally closed the entire lower level. Makes me sad since it appears to be solely due to bad management that they closed the entire lower level. They had a bar and like 4-6 pool tables downstairs but it's gone now. No pool tables means I won't be back. read more

Walking into this place it has the flare of a Champps or a Lucky 13. (Some other chains in the TC Metro.) The open seating environment ensures that you'll catch the eye of about everyone eating in there as you hope and pray something isn't on your face. To the right of the entrance is a basement with a sign that reads 'Open Mon-Sun 6pm - close'. I haven't made it down there, I've been told it's just another bar area. Pull tabs and the bar take up the rest of the welcome area with seating towards the central and back. There is a smoking patio out in the rear, which is where the parking is. So you get a nice whiff of that before your dining experience. My wife and I chose to sit at the bar, we tend to do this because you always seem to get better service with the constant attention, plus the fact that the host wasn't anywhere to be found. We found a quick seat and were immediately met by the bartender who showed us a table tent highlighting apps and drinks for happy hour. It has your typical list of beers and apps, nothing really signature. I opted for a Mich Golden on tap since there were no micro brews or other beers with flavor to compete. I got the 'tall' one which comes in about a 32 oz. glass. Some places you can tell from that first sip and smell who cleans the lines often, this taste being a bit stale. After looking at the menu I was quickly reminded why I keep avoiding this place. There's nothing special here. One of the highlighted items on the menu is 'Big Louie's burger', (The menu boasts it is 'Big Louie's favorite'.) however, it's a typical California burger with an egg. So not much there for jazz. Scanning the rest of the menu doesn't bring any other surprises or for any reason for Big Louie to open a restaurant for that matter. It's the most basic menu of salads, sandwiches and burgers. There is a kick at the end of specialties that includes ribs and steak, but I had the ribs last time and it wasn't worthy of a review. I settled on the French Dip and upgraded from chips to the seasoned waffle fries with a side of their 'signature seasoned sour cream'. We didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive which was nice. However, upon inspection and that first bite I could tell why. The roast beef was clearly deli sliced and still cold from refrigeration. Essentially they pulled out the deli meat from the fridge, slapped it on a bun and melted the Swiss cheese over the top in hopes of the meat warming up as well. It was not. This didn't bode well for the flavor. There was a definite 'shine' to the whole thing, either a lot of cheese grease or brushed with some oil. Make sure you have plenty of napkins. The waffle fries were good. I expected more I guess. (Usually when you upgrade for the side of fries you can't seem to finish them.) The side of seasoned sour cream had a nice flavor. However, in execution, I rate the Tavern in Edina or Woodbury as having the best waffle fries and seasoned sour cream. There's nothing about this place that draws you in or makes an imprint on your mind that you should come back to it. It's another restaurant playing it safe and they do that well. I would like to imagine though that Big Louie might've had bigger dreams after the Prohibition was lifted when he first started this place. read more

We were looking for a late night bar & grill for a nearby "after the wedding" stop, and checked Louie's out earlier in the week for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by this laid back local pub. It's not fancy, but it was clean, the food was REALLY good - better than the average bar food, and we had great service. When we asked the manager about bringing a group in, she said absolutely and she'd be there. Thanks for getting back to "normal" hours, and providing good service and positive attitudes - that are not so "normal" these days! We stopped here for a company outing after we helped at Free Bikes for kids. It was close and had free parking and easy access from the roads. We walked in and were seated at a nice high top as soon as we got in. Our server got us our drinks within 4 minutes. They have free popcorn and you can purchase pull tabs! Nice happy hour and really good wings. We also had the topped tots and artichoke dip. The wings were the best. Everything was fairly priced. An average experience all around. Nothing negative, but nothing stood out to me and nothing blew me away. If you're looking for a pool hall with solid food, this is a solid option. We went because my boyfriend wanted to play pool so we went downstairs where there's 6 tables. Tables were in subpar shape but nothing terrible. Playable but the sticks weren't in the best condition. However they do have a solid selection of draft beers, especially locals ones! I finally got the try lift bridges mango beer and it didn't disappoint! The lighting downstairs was poor and the place wasn't the cleanest. I think it's a great candidate for a good old remodel and a face lift. Food came quickly and was good. Stopped in on a Sunday night for some grub. I was having a wicked craving for some chicken wings, and I got them. Tried the garlic Parmesan and the buffalo, which were both fantastic. GP needed a bit more garlic, but they were good sized and nice and crispy! Also got a side salad, which was also quite tasty. Husband ordered a burger, and was not disappointed. He's got high standards for burgers, and where this isn't quite as good as MyBurger, it was close! We both ordered tall Woodchuck Gumptions, and were very very happy with those. I've been coming to Big Louie's for years. They have decent food, tonight I had the fajita wrap, but I also like the Philly & the wings. The wrap was just ever so spicy, and had tons of chicken (you can get steak too.) I love the crispy waffle fries, but they are an upgrade. My main issue is the cleanliness of this place. They serve popcorn, but there always seems to be a bunch on floor that isn't getting swept up. There was only a half a dozen tables occupied, and still it wasn't clean and I saw at least 3 servers & a bartender & hostess. I'll come back because I like the food, but they could totally do better at cleaning/presentation. read more

I'll start out by saying I've been here in the past, like 3 years ago and it was just ok. Average bar food. Tonight my brother and I went with average expectations. Boy, were we surprised tonight. Started with some Buffalo Wings. They came out nice and hot. Wings were meaty and sauce had a night spice level to it. Beer was tap but cold. I ordered a Bourbon Sauce Burger. Delicious! Burger cooked just the way I liked it, Med rare. Bacon was crispy. That Bourbon sauce is what made the burger! I even asked for more on the side. My brother got a Ruben Sandwich with kettle chips. He thought the chips were great. He was really impressed with the corn beef. Salty and delicious. The sauerkraut had a crunch to it along with a good sour taste. Our service was great, also.
