Such a great dining experience in Rio. I wanted to try Michelin dining in Brazil and whilst there are no 3 star restaurants in Brazil, there are three 2 star restaurants located in Rio. Oro was top of my list to try because its Brazilian food inspired gastronomy. Simple yet modern decor in a very intimate restaurant. There were only around 4-5 tables on the first floor. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time online to reserve your spot. They have an option where you can sit in front of the chef that's preparing your meal and we chose that option. The menu is quite self explanatory. There's 11 different appetizers to start. Then you choose from either a 2 or a 4 main course meal. We chose a 4 course meal to get a more comprehensive experience of the restaurant. Service is wonderful. They are so attentive to every detail and made the dining experience so special. My favorite from the appetizers were definitely oyster and guava, shrimp and chayote mochi. Note that I absolutely hate raw oysters but the way they combined with oyster with the guava the taste was definitely tamed. You can taste how fresh the oysters were and the texture was to die for. The shrimp mochi was SO good. Al's it tasted like a dumpling. Special from the chef, he actually asked us if we wanted seconds of any appetizers and I chose the mochi immediately. My favorite of the main dishes were the fish of the day with corn and the Brazilian beef. The fish with corn is so flavorful and the broth is so delicious that I did not leave one drop in the bowl. Beef is so tender, melt in your mouth and it's so flavorful. Honestly all of the main courses were delicious but the fish and the beef were definitely the most memorable. You can choose 2 out of the 3 desserts but once again the chef gave us all 3 desserts to try. I loved the caja fruit and almond cake dessert the most. A little tart, not too sweet nor overpowering. They gave us a truffle dessert box to take home afterwards as well after the dinner. Oh! Definitely get the wine pairing, well worth the money and it pairs so well with the meal. Literally no complaints from my standpoint. One of the best Michelin meals I've had hands down. Definitely make it a point to stop here on your Rio vacation.

LOVED our time at Oro -- everything we were served was delicious and service was great. The space itself was beautiful. Our drinks were just ok though. The 14 course for two was filling, dinner was just under $400 with the added cocktails

We returned to see if things have changed since covid, and while there were some great dishes, my comment about this being a 1 star Michelin still stands. The good: everything on the "starters" which were a collection of interesting and very tasty snacks, with the highlight being the "burger" with kimchi. Just fabulous. We also loved the wine pairing which was a nice way to discover some great local or eclectic wines. The not so good: the main dishes were all good but a bit bland. For example, corn on white fish is not going to be very flavorful. Everything was cooked well but nothing stood out. The bad: while the service was very good, for a 2 star Michelin, there were some bad misses. For example, the beef and fish dishes were overcooked and we didn't eat most of it but the waiter seemed obviously that something was wrong despite us making comments about it. Our dessert was very late and it appeared to have been given to the table nearby by mistake. Again, no acknowledgement about delays or even awareness ot happened. Overall, this was very good but absolutely does not deserve a Michelin 2 star. But as a 1 star, it would be considered great

This is my second time to this restaurant. The service is impeccable. The cuisine is elevated and unique. Definite must come to win in Rio.

One of the best fine dinning experiences I had ever. The combination of flavors, each step was unique & original, the deco is really nice & modern, clap clap to their amazing chef, Felipe Bronze! For a Michelin restaurant, I was not impressed by their food. I went with the grand menu, which includes 3 meat dish. Fish was terribly hard and dry (the British girl sitting next to me also left hard untouched, which was a clear sign), duck and steak were lack of flavors.

Gin tonic to welcome us - excellent !

Visiting from NYC, I really loved dining at Oro. From the atmosphere to the service and the food, this is a delightful experience worth the michelin recognition. We also choose the wine pairing which ended up being a great deal. Dinner started with their interpretation of the gin tonic. Some bites -- including foie gras bites -- followed. I had the duck as a main dish, simply and perfectly executed. Desserts were great as well. Will definitely return next time in Rio.

Delighted beyond our wildest expectations. From the moment you step into the intimate space of Oro, you know you're about to have a once in a life time experience. You're greeted with a bright and warm smile by James, the manager of the restaurant. You'll find each sitting to be intimate and spaces at the same time. Every waiter is knowledgeable about the menu, the experience and is ready with recommendations. We were fortunate enough to be able to taste every single item on their tasting menu - get ready for your taste buds to go on a journey. Every single item item on the menu is prepared to perfection. Taste exactly the way it is presented - perfect! This is exactly what we expected from a two Michelin star restaurant. However, James the manager made our experience, one of a lift time. He was extremely attentive, very friendly and full of surprises. He surprised us with 6 - I say again - 6 different drinks. We simply asked for a whiskey drink and he made sure we got something new and refreshing every single time! Before the main course arrived, he asked which one of the starts was our favorite - we each had a different favorite. A second later that favorite showed up on the table for us to experience again. I kid you not, a tear came down my eye with how pleasantly surprised we were! Later when it was desert time, we realized that the entire table ordered the same dessert so we asked to make some changes to make sure we get to try every single desert on the menu. James then yet again, surprised us by fulfilling our original order AND bringing out the desert we hadn't ordered, on the house! WOW - what a service. When we called for the check, we thanked James for allowing us to taste every single item on the menu; our taste buds went a journey very little get to experience. But James had just one more surprise waiting for us, an Item that wasn't on a menu but he wanted us to try. I'm not too sure if everything above is coherent or making any sense because I'm still shocked by the amazing experience my friends and I had. But what I'm very clear minded about is this - from the staff, to the bar tender, to the manager to the incredible chefs, this place is A MUST! I would have paid 10X and would still believe it was a steal! I CAN NOT WAIT TO RETURN! Thank you James, thank you ORO! Ziv

New menu for Michelin star chef Felipe Bronze. Felipe and smoke since last year abandoned his tradition for "el buli" foam and went to primitive flavor guided by charcoal! The results last year was best chef and best restaurant award by Veja Rio a local magazine. This season Felipe comes with all renewed menu keeping the essence of the result of his research in the charcoal flavor. The result is amazing and definitely worth a visit. Wine list by awarded sommelier Cecilia Aldaz does a great research in no so obvious wines that worth to taste! Enjoy!

I had the Grilled Chicken with Broccoli rice, which initially sounded slightly strange and bland but turned out fantastic. The grilled chicken was well done but also well seasoned with savory hints of salt, pepper and onion, deliciously crisp with every bite. The strong savory chicken blends perfectly with the soothing broccoli rice side and I devoured both after a long day of hiking. The dish also came with fries (not advertised in the menu), which tasted better than most american fries and were fresh, crisp and a nice tangy complement to the meal when paired with ketchup. The entire dining experience was enjoyable and I would highly recommend this spot for future tourists and visitors of Rio!

We ordered the pizza calzone which was delicious and the calamari which I would not recommend. Calamari was heavily battered and a little fishy -- if you're used to the lightly battered style you get in the US, this will seem more like the batter they use on fried clams. The Italian sausage (check out my pic) was the highlight though. It was so good, we actually ordered a second one. And of course, being as immature as we are, we laughed at the enormous length and made a lot of dirty jokes as we ate it. Fun! The drinks are smaller here than most other places we've been but are strong. Caipirinhas were good, but we had better a couple blocks away at Porcao. The ambiance is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable for Rio and like most restaurants in the city, they add a 10% service charge.
