However, I give the venue only two stars because: 1) the owners promised a lot of things up front that they never followed through with. 2) the bathroom option for guests is port o potties 3) the owners made us turn the music down at 10pm despite their previous claim that we could keep the party going as late as we wanted 4) the male owner was overheard screaming at the female owner about how terrible we all were in not very appropriate language. He also said he had been turning the power off on us all night and was frustrated that we kept fixing it (we thought we blew a fuse so we plugged the equipment in somewhere else) 5) they did not clean up the barn the day of the wedding, so there were owl droppings all over the dance floor 6) they have dogs so make sure your guests watch for dog poop on the property. Also, ask them to keep them inside during the ceremony or they are likely to come visit the guests and possibly walk the bride down the aisle. Friendly dogs though, and very cute I must say. Overall, the wedding was beautiful. But I know my friend was disappointed and stressed out by the venue and that is not okay on your wedding day!

Pretty spot though you hear the traffic going by when outside. Inside the room it is faint. I liked that my room was one level (nobody upstairs). However, I had a neighbor in the next room who got up at 5am and was heavy footed and had a dog. The noise they made traveled into my room. They woke me up and kept me awake way before I planned to get up. Noise level depends on who ends up next to you. Luckily they were not there for my entire stay. The room was just right and I like the way it looked and the covenience of a kitchen with a full size fridge and stove top and microwave. I bring my own pans. I am glad because I didn't like the pans in the room. I appreciated that the fridge didn't make hardly any noise. Less than mini fridges in most hotels!! Bed was comfortable and management was reachable via text message and provided information via texts that was helpful. Beautiful trees on property and I liked that behind my room was left unmowed-good for nature and made it private. I also loved that the windows opened (four windows in the room (on both sides). I'd definitely stay at The Pines Inn again.

Upon first arrival we saw the place had festive Halloween decorations, which I love. Tony immediately came out and greeted us, then directed us to where to park. He then gave us a quick tour of our room, then gave us a tour of the rest of the outside areas. I love how personal Tony was and his genuine enthusiasm in showing his establishment. After we had settled in, we were able to inspect the cottage and it was ideal for two people. Everything was exceptionally clean. The kitchen had utensils, dinnerware, and cookware. The bathroom was also in good condition. The only inconvenience encountered was from my husband (as he is a tall individual) that the toilet area was slightly cramped. We were told that our rooms bed was just upgraded to a king size. Let me tell you, that bed was big and ridiculously comfortable. We both slept so good, we couldn't stop talking about how comfortable it was. As we left for dinner the ambiance of the place was truly enchanting. The beautiful lights created a magical environment, and the canopy with the projector added to the inviting atmosphere. He had kindly opened some wine for us, and we helped ourselves to it upon our return. Tony asked us before he left, what we would like for breakfast. I opted for toasted bagel w/ cream cheese & honey yogurt. My husband asked for avocado toast with fresh fruit. The next morning, he delivered our breakfast to our room. To say we were shocked at how good and fresh everything was, would be an understatement. We certainly plan to visit again in the future. Thank you, Tony, for your wonderful hospitality.

The location was fantastic--right in the heart of town, with plenty of local restaurants, charming shops, and boutiques all within walking distance. We stayed in a king room with an incredibly comfortable bed and a cute little courtyard just outside our room, which was such a nice touch. The room had everything we needed, including fresh-ground coffee to brew--not the typical packaged hotel coffee--which we really appreciated. And the complimentary breakfast was amazing! Fresh-made omelets with real eggs and your choice of delicious ingredients like bacon and fresh vegetables, along with an impressive selection of fresh fruit including bananas, kiwi, and grapefruit. There were also plenty of breads, oats, cereals, and other breakfast choices. We were only able to stay for one night, but we honestly wished we could have stayed longer. The Courtyard Suites was comfortable, welcoming, conveniently located, and exceeded our expectations. If you find yourself visiting Grass Valley, I would absolutely recommend making Courtyard Suites your place to stay. We certainly will on our next visit!

It's a lovely mix of wildlife and comfort! We found so many birds - woke up to a singing Bullock's oriole; Pied-billed grebes and Wood ducks were calling and setting up their nests; an osprey, kingfishers, and herons were regular visitors. They have friendly dogs; Buster will join you and lead you on a walk around the pond if you'd like. :) Highly recommended!

I have a 6 year ol and 2 14 year olds. They had so much fun and my 6 year old was so safe. She played at the playground, swam in the beautiful clean and very cold pool, She had so much fun. My 2 teens met so many fun kids and played volleyball soccer, and the staff entertained them with great bon fires, camp story time, rock wall climbing, segways to ride and always always so friendly AND clean the entire place was clean at all times the showers and bathrooms were clean and very pretty. In one of the newer meadow sites they had great showers and porta potties the were clean. THe company that takes care of the porta potties does not clean them on weekend so they got pretty bad. The restaurant has changed to a pizza burger and sandwiches place and I was a bit disappointed in that because I was looking forward to liver and onions. haha Our 3 day weekend was fabulous and we were tenting in the meadow. WAY better than dirt camping. LOVED IT!!!! Lake Francis Resort perfect for families who want to have good clean fun. The ice cream parlor is wonderful Great fun, Great Lake and Great staff Thank You so much for showing my kids such a great time.
