My first time seeing Dr. Blank. (Interesting name) The office has a weird layout.. there are like 5 waiting rooms..made me wonder if each Doctor had their own individual waiting room. The receptionists were very efficient, got me checked in and seated quickly.. handed me a form to fill out. Funny thing was it had those #2 pencil circles like a sat test where you fill in the circle in pencil for your choice. This office is pretty busy because theres a long wait to be seen. I was warned in advance that this would be the case. Once I was in the room to be seen a super nice tech took me back for x-rays. When Dr. Blank finally came in to see me he was pleasant and had some good options for how to handle my issue. read more

Drove to Short Pump to see Colin Mudrick with great expectations. Left without being seen. I arrived at the Tuckahoe Orthopedic Practice in Short Pump at 2:50 for my 3:10 appointment. It was obvious Dr Mudrick had been overbooked and was running significantly behind. At 3:30 after another patient was called back, a gentleman asked the individual if she was Dr. Mudrick's nurse. She responded yes. He then asked how far behind Dr Mudrick was running and said "I'm a doctor." The nurse asked his name, looked at her pages of patients and responded "you're at 3:40, I'll be calling you next." That got my attention and I responded "excuse me, my appointment was at 3:10 and I'm leaving" which I did. There are any number of highly recommended orthopedic surgeons in the Richmond area. And unfortunately a supposedly great doctor can be tremendously undermined by his/her staff read more

Well, I had called 2 weeks ago got an Appt. for today, May 19 at 3 pm. But no email confirming so I called at 8 o clock this morning. Guess what, I was told they had NO appt for me. When I called to get an appt I immediately received an email to create an account in My Chart, which I did. What is going on in a huge medical practice when you make an appt only to find out you haven't? I work full time also and had scheduled right after I made the appt to leave work at noon so I could go home and get a bite to eat before I had to go across town. I am 66 yrs and have NEVER scheduled an appt at any Drs office only to find out it was NEVER put in the system. Incompetence....​ read more

I recently had my hip replaced by Dr. Dobzyniak. He is an amazing surgeon who has quite literally changed my quality of life. In less than a month, I have gone from significant pain (pre-surgery) to biking 20 plus miles per trip, being able to work out in the gym, and truly enjoy the outdoor environment. I'm really disappointed with my entire experience at Tuckahoe Orthopaedic. I think they might just be overworked and unhappy people, but let's start from the beginning. A month ago, I was walking down a city street alongside friends at night in the rain and didn't notice a hole in the sidewalk where a tree should've been. Twisted my ankle something awful. After a few days in pain with swelling/bruising, I visited Patient First in Carytown and was referred to Tuckahoe Ortho for further care. I called the next business day and was told that their one foot and ankle specialist was booked up for weeks but that their "hip specialist has worked with ankles before" and could see me that afternoon. That probably should've been the first sign to go somewhere else, but I was in pain and wanted help. Many forms and an hour+ wait later, Dr. Mudrick arrived. He looked at my ankle for maybe three seconds, declared it was sprained, and suggested buying one of their braces instead of the air brace from PF. I asked if it needed any testing and he said no, it's definitely just a sprain. Okay. From there I waited nearly another hour just to get fitted for a brace, paid out of pocket $55 (because if you pay in cash, you have to round up to the nearest dollar because they don't keep coins at the desk), and went on my way with a reminder to call in a month if still in pain. Not only am I still in pain, but it's radiating from my back (longstanding issue) down my leg now also...probably from walking in a brace for weeks. So I figured I'd call to set up a follow-up. Called, and the receptionist could not have been ruder if she tried. I asked to see the actual foot specialist being that Dr. Mudrick spent three minutes with me and I wanted a more thorough exam. She replied that they only have one (which I knew) and that she's out all next week. I replied that I might not have insurance by then and would have to think about how to handle it. Her apathetic reply? "Well if you don't have insurance, you get a bill." I thanked her for her time and hung up. Are you kidding me? Seriously? Where is the empathy, woman? Have you not ever struggled in your life? No pain? Mind. Boggled. I don't have many one star reviews on this site, but this place now gets to join the elite club. read more

Dr. Dobzyniak gave me a right knee replacement in 2022. It was life-changing. I hadn't realized how my activities had been limited over time until I got this second chance. Since then I have lost a significant amount of weight, become a regular at the gym and joined a hiking club. I was so pleased with the result that I am now having my left knee done. My only regret is that I put the first surgery off for so long out of fear. I wish I had done it years ago. read more

I saw Dr Colin Mudrick for hip pain. Xrays were taken and determined that I needed total hip replacement. After spending time with Dr Mudrick and his nurse/assistant Amanda, I was impressed with their knowledge and how they seemed to genuinely care about me as a patient. I decided a second opinion not necessary and had my surgery at St Marys 3 weeks ago. I don't think I would have received this care from anyone else. Pre-surgery I had a ton of questions and Amanda was quick to return my calls and answer my concerns. Dr Mudrick actually called me the night before my surgery to ask if i had questions or concerns. His surgical team at St Marys were outstanding, kind and so professional. My care post-op has been great, too. I'm very please with the surgical results and highly recommend Dr Mudrick. read more

Dr.Colin Mudrick of Tuckahoe Orthopeudics and the entire team at St Mary's Hospital far exceeded my expectations. From the start to finish for a total hip replacement, the entire procedure went so smoothly. My recovery in just 5 weeks amazed me and everyone I know. I would highly recommend the team to EVERYONE. I'm a military dependent and this is not the right person for that position - first impressions matter, in my case so much that I just canceled my appointment. Earlier I called them about a billing issue several times. They filed the claim wrong. They said call back in 30 days. I did and nothing happened. Now, they say they have no record of previous calls despite my having the names of the rep's I spoke with and the times. Now they say there are no notes about my previous calls. Add to that when 5 p.m. rolls around and you are discussing the issue, they close and the call simply drops. Called the office and got the operator. She said she can't help, that there is no one to escalate the call to and that she - the operator - answers her calls, all with a snarky tone of indifference. In short, Tuckahoe Ortho has devolved into a practice which simply doesn't care; if they did, they would fix this. read more

I will start my very negative review in the waiting room, where I was still waiting to be called back (to then wait even longer in the exam room) for my 9:15 appointment. At 9:18 my doctor, Dr. Matthew A. Dobzyniak, M.D., walked past me (I've got a time stamped picture), through the waiting room and out of the practice with a takeout tray full of cups of coffee. Well that was a bit surprising/irritating. I was called to come back to the exam room at 9:28 for my 9:15 appointment at which time I said to the person walking me back. "I just saw the doctor walk out of the practice with coffees, am I not seeing him today?" Her reply was chock full of attitude "he is just bringing coffee to another floor, he will be back". When I called her out for her attitude towards me, over her shoulder she said "I don't have an attitude." Wrong!! While I do have her name, I choose to leave her out of this review. For now. Maybe she has stuff going on and does not know how to be polite as she was unpleasant the first time I visited the practice as well. At 9:47 the doctor came in for my 9:15 appointment. (obviously he wasn't late because he was tied up with other patients but because it was more important to deliver coffees to others opposed to respecting my valuable time) I said to him "You're late". Ready?? He makes a fist with his thumb sticking out, uses his thumb to point to his chest numerous times and said "It's my job. I can do whatever I want". Most disrespectful response I have ever, ever gotten from anyone in my 60+ years. I explained (lord help me as calmly as I could), "I have a job as well and need to be back in my office in a timely manner". He completely ignored me and went on to ask me "So how ARE you feeling?" Shock, anger and disbelief that I had been spoken to that way does not begin to cover my emotions. I had my husband on the line (I advised the doctor) listening with me for my test results. He, too, was in total shock at the total disrespect that doctor showed me. I knew at that very moment he would never see me again. Let him operate on me? And be as lax about my care as he was about my appointment? Not a chance. By the time he gave me test results and summing up, he had asked me a total of 3 times, "So how ARE you feeling". Was he not only late and ignorant but not listening to me as well?? Good bye Tuckahoe Orthopedics. Looking at other reviews about this practice, I can see I am not alone in my opinion. read more

I visited TOA and saw Dr. Paul Caldwell for a knee injury. Everyone on his team was top notch. The appointments were efficient, the staff was really kind, and the office was comfortable. I felt really heard by Dr. Caldwell and he fully explained everything about my treatment plan and put the plan in place expediently. read more

I'm unhappy with several visits we had at Tuckahoe but will focus on the handling of my daughter's first MRI. My daughter (let's call her "Em") was 7-years-old and is petite. She was given adult sized scrubs; the waist came up to her chin, the shirt hung to her knees. They said, "just roll and cinch them" to fit. This lack of basic preparation for a pediatric patient set the tone of the visit. We were 30 minutes early, yet the tech rushed us to the MRI room and put Em on the scan table with no time for Em to assimilate to the room and machine. The tech treated us like we'd been in an MRI before (we haven't) so nothing was explained. The tech gave me earplugs and I saw her put a pair into Em's ears. She then had Em lie down and arranged foam blocks around her head. Em was lying perfectly still with her arms at her sides as I was putting my earplugs in, when I heard Em say that one of her earplugs had fallen out. The tech answered, "no it didn't." Em had a floppy pink bunny in her arms when we got there. I'd phoned ahead about bringing a security item into the MRI with her, and they said yes if it was entirely cotton. The tech took the toy and situated it below Em's feet where she could neither see nor feel it. The tech told Em, "Now don't try and raise your head to look at your mom" then she exited the room and the MRI began. I was left standing in the room with no instructions. Even with earplugs, it was louder than anything I've ever heard. In the quiet moments, Em would ask, "Mommy, are you still there?" and I would say, "Yes, I'm right here." When her chin began trembling, I knew she was scared and crying. I wanted to touch her feet but feared it would interfere with the MRI. The tech's voice over the intercom said, "You have to stay still. Are we gonna do this again?" It was painful to realize the tech had no interest in offering encouragement or comfort to such a little child. When it was over (an hour later), the tech came into the room and removed the foam blocks. The right earplug dropped from Em's shoulder when she sat up. It was, in fact, out the whole time. Em sprang into my arms, crying with relief and squeezing me tight. While I was still holding my little girl, the tech said that we should just schedule another MRI. Surprised, I asked why. The answer? "She moved too much". I observed she was perfectly still for the duration. The tech said, "all that crying; that's movement." What a cruel remark. Thankfully the doctor makes the determination as to the usefulness of the imaging, not the tech. Turns out this MRI was sufficient to diagnose Em with multiple neurological conditions. She was slated for neurosurgery as a result of the findings. Beyond the insensitivity, I believe sending Em into the machine with improper hearing protection (dismissing her when she said the earplug had fallen out) was gross negligence on the tech's part. I reached out to Tuckahoe with this account but never heard anything. We moved Em's care to VCU and are glad we did! Tuckahoe Orthopedics is FAR from kid friendly. If you love your child, don't take them there. read more

We were referred to this office by a physician at Patient First. My 4-year-old son had fallen at the playground and got a splinter embedded deep into his little finger. After the physician at Patient First told me "I can take it out but I won't," I knew that it was going to be a long morning. Reluctantly, I agreed to go to Tuckahoe Orthopedics in hopes that we'd be more successful there. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour, it wasn't any better. Upon going into the treatment room, the nurse tells me that we'd need to have an X-ray taken. An X-ray for a splinter?!? I respectfully declined. She said, "well you can talk to the doctor but he'll probably want you to get an x-ray." The doctor comes in and he says, "We need an x-ray." I told him, the splinter is there, if you examine his finger you'd see it. He then proceeds to say, " I'm not going to go digging in there if I don't have an x-ray." In my mind, I'm thinking to myself, if this is what it'll take for you to even look at his finger then fine. But there is no way an xray will show a wooden splinter. It's not like there is metal shrapnel in his finger. We get the x-ray. At this point, my son is anxious and upset. All of which, was unnecessary. So, after the x-ray, the physician comes in and tells me, "I didn't see anything....You have two options, we can wait and see or we can schedule an appointment for us to put him to sleep and then we'll go in there and do exploratory surgery." "Put him to sleep and ....do exploratory surgery..." on a 4 year old for a wooden splinter. I wish I was joking but no, this is what this man told me. I quickly picked up my son, said "thank you" and left. This obviously was a bad idea. Not only was he willing to sedate my son, but he wanted to cut into my son's finger when in reality all he needed to do was examine my son's finger and he would've seen the foreign body embedded in his finger. He told me that my son's finger wasn't infected even though it was swollen, warm, red and painful. I was livid. What a day! I met a physician that told me "I can take it out but I won't" and a orthopedist that did not even bother to examine my son but was quick to recommend sedation and surgery. I will never take my children back to this office nor will I recommend them to any friends or family. I am now stuck with a $200 office bill and have been on hold for 30+ minutes just to pay the bill. read more

Bon Secour is a bunch of chicken hawks preying on people in pain and in need. They have bought up this location and instead of an MRI being $800, it is now over $2000. Seems slightly excessive for a magnetic knee x-ray. This establishment will not actually quote you prices for procedures until after you've scheduled an appointment and show up. This price they disclose that that point is astronomical and puts your credit and livelihood at risk. Beware! Our Virginia government needs to step in and control these medical charlatans preying on people in need. read more

Appointment with Dr. Victoria Matt. After dealing with two bone spurs, one under the arch of each foot, I decided to bite the bullet and seek out an orthopedic for help and advice on my unique situation related to these spurs. I called Tuckahoe Orthopaedic, because it had pretty good reviews at the time and I live really close. I set an appointment and was told I'd be seen by Dr. Victoria Matt. The clinic itself isn't bad, it was a comfortable environment, but it seemed a bit hectic in the waiting room. There was a receptionist on the phone and chatting the whole half hour I waited, while others were complaining about their day, so far. The nurses that took me in were really nice, but when Dr. Matt came in and started asking me questions, I could tell right away that she had already formulated her own opinions about what my condition was, before I'd had a chance to speak a full explanation. She only spent about 5 minutes in the office with me, and gave me such bad advice, I could've googled it and gotten better results. Her bedside manner consisted of cutting me off at every turn and not allowing me to speak a full sentence before stopping me abruptly to inform me that I was simply 'wearing the wrong shoes' and then proceeded to recommend several high end brands that I can't afford on the best of days. She told me, without actually inspecting me, that I needed to stretch my feet and calves more, and that that was the cause of my pain, when my reason for visiting to begin with, was the immense pain that the bone spurs themselves are causing. Rather than helping me with my issues and recommending an appropriate course of action, she told me that I needed physical therapy and better heel support in a pair of shoes. I left feeling highly disappointed, completely misunderstood and not given the time of day enough to explain that I'd already tried these things and didn't have any luck, which is why I'd come, to begin with. If you want a doctor to listen to you, to be polite, to give a proper examination of your issues, and to take the time to learn about your individual needs before making any recommendations, Dr. Victoria Matt is NOT the correct doctor to see. She needs to learn more about bedside manner and have less tunnel vision for this to work. read more

WARNING!! The surgeons are wonderful- the staff are AWFUL. My mom had a knee replacement last week, they sent her home, outpatient, with the promise that home health and PT would be at her house the next morning. My mom lives alone. We're now on day 5 and no one has reached out to her to set anything up. My mom has called TOA multiple times a day, specifically to Gizelle (her point of contact) who, when she actually called my mom back (ignored most of the calls), reassured her everything was taken care of. It's now Monday and my mom calls her insurance company, nobody has ever sent in any paperwork for her to have home health or PT. I am livid. This is extremely neglectful. DO NOT GO OR SEND YOUR PARENT WITHOUT MAKING CALLS YOURSELF TO ENSURE EVERYTHING FOR AT HOME AFTERCARE IS PROPERLY SET UP. Doing outpatient surgery without properly setting up aftercare once they are home is a lawsuit waiting to happen- I am shocked they would put themselves and their patients in this situation. read more

First off, let me say that Dr Tuten is a wonderful doctor and we have always been happy with him. Our children have seen him for approximately 7 years for various issues. That said, one would imagine with our history that their customer relations would be better. After 7 years with the practice, we recently missed a bill (first time in 7 years we've missed a payment). Rather than call us about it, they called an attorney and added approximately 250$ to the overall bill. As soon as we found out, we tried to work with the office. Their management team refused to back the charge off. While we were happy with their doctors, we believe we can find equal care with better patient-to-office practices and relationships elsewhere. In all, we have ended up paying the additional fees, but ultimately left the practice on principal - had they simply called us instead of an attorney, we would have paid it on the spot. Very disappointed as long time patients that their management effectively told us that strict adherence to their flawed protocols (they have a policy of calling their attorney rather than the patient) and bottom line was more important than their relationship with their patients. read more

Dr. Matt performed surgery on my 4th right toe for a myxoid cyst. The sutures she used were either wrongly labeled or the the wrong ones. They did not dissolve as intended. My toe was inflamed, tender, very red and sore for ten weeks. The undissolved sutures caused a large immune response that triggered premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) (3,500 a day). I had to see a cardiologist. They also triggered a tachy-brady arrhythmia. She blamed my shoes and placed a band aid on my toe. For each of the two emergency room visits I had to make, her staff did not respond to my calls for a full day. After 8 weeks of misery on my part, she suddenly thought about the sutures. Neither Dr. Matt or Tuckahoe orthopaedics will disclose to me whether she used the wrong sutures or was provided with the wrong sutures by the St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center. She performed revision surgery 10 weeks after the initial surgery. The PVCs stopped four days after revision surgery. read more

I actually ended up at this practice after getting conflicting information from another ortho practice and needing a second opinion. A friend recommended Tuckahoe and I'm so glad she did. I was referred here by Patient First (5 stars) by my favorite PA in Richmond. I was out of town and was not able to go until today. The friendliest person was the operator that gave me directions on where to park in the garage! LONG story short, I was there 15 minutes early being a new patient, I had to wait almost 1hour to get Registered! By the time I got into the actual patient room it had been 1 1/2 hours, The doctor came in, No introduction, No hello, but "I see you did this last month, take your sock off and let me see it" "ok come back and in 4 weeks" Like Hell!! I can't say anything positive about my experience here, please go somewhere else! read more

Between my first visit and the follow up at their Short Pump office, I spent about 90 seconds total with the doctor. They SIGNIFICANTLY overbook appointments. Which is why I'm not surprised he misdiagnosed my issue, claiming it was a rare issue he had only seen in textbooks...even though it was happening in both knees...and suggested arthritis cream. The doctor at OrthoVirginia laughed at that diagnosis, figured out what it was, set me up with PT and I'm back to 100%. read more

I would like to start by saying that this place and Dr.Sharp was my second opinion Doctor for my young son who was born with birth defects similar to club feet. It runs on his dad's side of the family. My son was first treated by Dr.Kim Orthopedic doctor who did over 8 surgeries on my son's legs and feet. My son never got to complete grade no school and never went to middle school. He had so many surgeries the first time he operated on both legs and feet so he had full leg casts on both legs. After surgery the nurses and I became very aware that my son wasn't handling the pain very well at all. He said that the surgery was same day surgery. Well I thought about it and I said if you wanted to do same day why would you do surgery on both of his feet and both of his legs in the same day. It was a bit much for someone who was in grade school. Any doctor will tell you the orthopedic surgery is the most painful thing ever. Well my son had growth plates put in each leg and bone removal and exposed thick metal rods were exposed. Anyway they sent him home I ended up taking him to the hospital in the middle of the night and the ER Doctor was livid that they did 4 big surgeries and sent him home. They called the surgeon and reminded him how old my son was. He ended up on a pain pump of morphine and dilaudid. Anyway took him to the doctor and the doctor decided to take the exposed tracksion rods out in the doctor's office that day with no pain meds or anything. I later learned that he should have taken to the operating room and put to sleep to have them removed. I was a young mother. After 8 surgeries I knew it was time for a second opinion. Well god sent a angle when Dr Sharp took over he got my son in water rehab to get him stronger for his next surgery. He was fitted for a battery powered scooter so he could feel like he was doing activities. My son was still on narcotics due to the damages and scar tissue caused by the other doctor. Anyway when Dr Sharp did surgery on my son's feet and legs it was never same day. He always admitted him which I learned was standard procedure for someone his age getting 5 hours of orthopedic surgery and someone who was asthmatic and was on homebound instructions because his immune system was down and he was wearing mask. Anyway after 6 surgeries which I will say we're not done back to back he gave him time in between so that's why it took 4 years. Dr. Sharp promised my son that he would have him walking by graduation. My son never went to high school due to his immune system and all the surgeries and rehab he had to have. But my son wasn't in a wheelchair or scooter when they called him on stage HE WALKED. He had to use his walker but Dr.Sharp fulfilled his promise. My son still has 2 more surgeries to go but he's 22 now. But he doesn't use a walker wheelchair scooter nothing else and no pain medicine. Through this journey my son had a follow up with the doctor but 4 days before his appointment I was scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees and went to stand up and both legs and feet separated and both ankles turned. Believe it or not I broke both of my feet in the same place so not only was my son there patient I became a patient myself. It was a long road. But the doctor's and nurse's and office staff are the most amazing incredible smart compasionite group of people I've ever met. You might feel like you're alone but every win my son received was celebratex as a win for everyone there. They gave my little boy hope and love and a promise. This is a wonderful place for kids and adults. If you're looking for a great orthopedic specialist look no further if you come here you will receive 5 star service and if you have a young child it's hard to see them suffer in pain and miss out on alot of things it's awful when they have to give a small child IV Pain medicine and then there so loopy. My son missed everything important at school but with Dr Sharp and my son's hard work fight tears determination my son walked across the stage to receive his diploma. He received a standing ovation by the whole senior class and teachers principal and guidance counselor. It was amazing it was all for him. We had no idea that was going to take place but I wish Dr.Sharp could have been there because without him it wouldn't have been possible. So thank you. Victory. Excellent quality care read more

Never going back to this place again. I have a callous on one of my fingers and wanted to get a consultation to see what it would take to remove it. I arrive and the lady at the counter acted like we couldn't have any sort of conversation without me providing my insurance information. Just the way it was done was very off-putting. Strike one. So once I get that addressed, I'm in the waiting room for a few minutes then brought into one of the exam rooms to wait. 10 minutes go by. 20 minutes.....at 30 minutes I step out into the hallway, grab the first nurse I see and ask her to find out where my doctor (John Blank) is and how much longer it's going to be. Strike two. He comes in another 15 minutes later, look at my finger for all of 30 seconds, tells me he can cut it and leaves. Dassit. A month later I get a bill for a whopping $190! I waited 10 times as long as the actual "visit." Strike three! The receptionist tried to blame my insurance company but that's a crock. I'm stuck with this bill, but they will never get another dime out of me. read more

This is for the Richmond, VA office - I wish I could give them a negative review. So, I received a collection notice in the mail this week despite never actually receiving a bill. The billing staff is obviously too lazy to do their job and / or are in bed with the collections agency which then charges you a $125 fee associated with collecting your account. I asked for a bill when I left their facility but they had to wait until every went through the insurance company before billing me. That is fine and understandable, but actually bill me once my insurance company pays their portion...don't just try to mess up my credit and charge me an additional $125 fee for not paying you! I have no problem paying my bills. I've never missed a payment on anything! Besides that the doctor was great but I'm not ever going there again. read more

My experience has been excellent. I like that Maple Ave contains testing, physician offices, medical records and surgery all in one location. Not being familiar with Richmond it was convenient to travel to one location. Dr. Mudrick is the best! His care and compassion is evident during each appointment. Several hours after my surgery he called me at home to make sure that I was okay- it was about 8:30pm. Who does that??? Dr Mudrick. The staff at St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center was awesome, from registration through recovery. They called to check on me the first post-op day and sent a get well card too. The wait time is insane, even for the first appointment in the morning they are running way behind. They suggested surgery for a broken pinky finger only to admit the chances of it being a little stiff are exactly the same as they would be if they put it in a cast... I suggest you find another place if you can. read more

My 7 year old was complaining of his ankle and because I am not a doctor, I took him to this practice at St. Francis. They were happy to see him and took x-rays. To my chagrin, there was nothing wrong with him and by the end of the appointment, he was running out of there. Not a happy mom. Third bill came along, and I started making payments after speaking with someone in the office. Payments made in April and sent to collections in May with a ~$50 additional fee. I wasn't aware that I had to sign a payments form before making these payments. Now my credit it tarnished and I will never go back to this practice. read more

My daughter sprained her MCL. We were seen quickly...liked our doctor; everyone was very friendly. My daughter was "fitted" for a hinged knee brace (meaning she tried them on to see if she was small, medium or large -- nothing custom fitted.) . I was charged $124 on the spot for the brace. A month later I get a bill. They charged my insurance company $908 for the brace AND I owed $62 more out of my pocket! I found the EXACT brace (Donjoy...exact same model) for $135 online. I call to inquire about why they charged so much, and the only response I received was: "That is what we charge for that brace". It's all about money! No wonder health insurance expenses are skyrocketing! Will NOT return. read more

After an X-Ray from Patient first confirmed that I had, in fact, broken my toe, I ended up at Tuckahoe Orthopedics. You see, I had surgery on this very same foot 10 years ago, so while most broken toes wouldn't be of much concern, I had to make sure that I hadn't negatively impacted the previous surgery. The process at Tuckahoe Orthopedics is pretty streamlined, which is very necessary considering the number of patients they must see on any given day. The office occupies two suites at St. Mary's and the one I visited had at least five large waiting rooms. When I arrived (on my crutches), I signed in and sat down. Then I was called up to retrieve paperwork, and then sat back down to complete the forms. Probably about 20 minutes later I was called back to registration, where they took my forms and entered my patient information into their computers. After that, I was sent to a different waiting room to wait for the doctor. All of this is to say that it was definitely a long process, but the fact that it's done in multiple steps makes it feel like a shorter length of time than the actual waiting time. Also, I noted the crutches because the staff were really great in carrying the clipboard/items I couldn't carry while using crutches without my needing to ask for assistance. And I appreciate that even more because I'm not one to ask for help, even when needed. Once I was finally called back, I ended up being given good news about my foot, and although the actual time with the pro was quick, I left feeling 100% confident in the diagnosis and treatment moving forward. So yes, I waited longer than I would have liked, but I left feeling like the wait was absolutely worth it. I felt super confident in the ability of the doctors and I appreciated the fact that I was able to be seen on the same day that I called for an appointment. If you've got foot issues, I certainly recommend Tuckahoe Orthopaedic Associates. read more

Only go here you want your knee hacked up three different ways, don't want the doctor to actually see you for your post surgery appointments, want to be lied to about what's in network, and want to pay co-pays that your insurance agrees you don't owe. read more

Do not go here.  They do not listen to the patient needs,  Think every patient has the same insurance constraints and approaches are cookie cutter.  I begged for an MRI and they kept saying insurance wouldn't approve it without weeks of other treatments.  When they finally checked , approved immediately. I had also discussed a second round of a treatment with the nurse and she told me I wasn't allowed that for 3 months, later that week then ortho prescribed said treatment.  She either lied to me or was just ignorant and never checked with the physician and didn't care about my pain level.  Told me to go to Physical therapy,  Needless to say, my current condition is so degraded because they elongated my care timeline. I am at 6 weeks now.  I should be fixed by now.  Good news, another practice is going to fix me in a few days and that surgeon adjusted his schedule because he recognized how awful  I am right now and I probably never should have been in PT based on my MRI results. read more

Buyer beware. Don't waste your time in going to this office unless you expect to pay upfront out of your pocket all monies due within 30 days. Even if you have insurance they treat you like you have a savings account or credit card ready to spend on this expense even if it is a matter of emergency that you went to have the services done. I have had several surgeries at Tuckahoe in the past with all being exceptional as far as recovery and satisfaction with my doctor. However, I went to Tuckahoe on 2/11/2021 for a second opinion on my knee. I had meniscus repair last March and since then I have been in constant pain despite trying injectons, PT, and prescription anti-inflammatories. I saw Dr. Dobzyniak. He was awful! He spent less than 10 minutes with me, wouldn't let me explain my entire history, and only touched my knee twice to feel it when I raised and lowered my leg. He didn't ask where my pain was or how it was affecting my quality of living. He had no interest in seeing my CT scans, although he did read the report, but proceeded to tell me he only makes a decision regarding surgery based on x-rays. Further, he couldn't give me any other non-surgical suggestions other than I just have to live with the pain. This doctor basically dismissed me without really listening to me. I was just an x-ray to him. Horrible!! I called the office and left a message regarding my concerns, but I haven't heard anything back. I guess they don't care about patient satisfaction. read more
