Worst experience ever. Charged me $6600 for Invisalign and said that they would do everything they can to make sure my teeth got straight no matter how long it took. I made sure to ask them 5 times that they would try 'as long as it took' and they agreed at least until they got my money. I have one stubborn tooth that's just not budging and they are saying "it's been over the general amount of time it takes Invisalign to straighten teeth." What happened to "as long as it took." Such a rip off and the orthodontists barely give you time of day during appointments. You get there before the designated times and wait almost 20 minutes after the time of your set appointment and then wait 10-15 more minutes once you get in the chair to only be there for 10 minutes after the orthodontist gets there. Getting my appointments on days I want them was so difficult. My new retainers are over a month and a half late this time and they didn't give me an appointment date until 2 weeks after they came in to get them. They said that OrthoWorks would give patients more attention and preciseness but I would've gone with Smile Direct Club because I would've paid so much less and gotten the same results. $6600 down the drain. Even braces would've been a better option somewhere else (because they overcharge at Orthoworks for that too) than going through this nightmare. read more

I had my complimentary consultation about two weeks and today is when I get all fitted for my grill :). I'm getting an Invisalign work. I was nervous just because I haven't had any work on my teeth, I've been lucky enough to have good teeth throughout my youth, teenager and adult hood. But unfortunately, that comes to an end as we get older, things starts to shift :( I checked it, quick wait, and Nina came out to greet me. Nina was very personable, carries a great attitude, soft spoken with a nice smile. She asked how my day was and if I was excited about getting my Invisalign. She walked me throughout the process of getting my grill fitted and paperwork I needed to sign. They have this cool robotic x-ray machine that scanned 360 degrees of my mouth. She took pictures of my teeth so we can compare the beautiful art after my Invisalign. My doctor came out and discussed my x-rays and was told things look good and ready to go. Keep in mind, Nina was by my side the whole time, she made sure I was comfortable and to ask any questions. Nina also showed me a sample of how Invisalign will look and feel like, how to take out and put on. She'll provide more tips once I get my trays in 3 weeks. Nina walks me over to Monique to discuss billings. I've met Monique during my consultation. She was glad that I'm getting the work done. She made the paperwork signing go smoothly and comfortable. She even asked if I wanted to read the long agreement before I signed (I was like who reads that long a** agreement, cuz I don't...I should but who does?!?! hahahahaha). Just the simple fact that she asked, says a lot about making sure you are aware of what your signing. Last step, was to get my teeth scanned by Janet, using another high tech machine so that my Invisalign trays fit my mouth and teeth correctly. It was cool because while Janet was scanning the inside of my mouth, you can literally see the shape of your teeth being made on screen, cool 3D look. Thanks Janet for being gentle with the machine! Nina had to attend to another patient near by, after she was done she came back to check on me and made sure I was doing good and looking over the outcome of my scanned teeth. Nina and Janet worked well and did a final cleaned up of my scanned so it can be sent to the lab to get my trays made. Thank you Nina for making me feel comfortable throughout the process. I came in feeling nervous and came out feeling great about getting my Invisalign. Looking forward to seeing you on my follow ups!!! I think all of you, Bay Area techworkers who has an excellent PPO insurance should read this before you consider giving any business to Orthoworks. I am under invisalign treatment at this location and I regret even started my treatment here because of their rude customer service and lack of knowledge of their claims department, hassle and frustrations caused by this office. I have checked my insurance benefit which covers 50% up to $3k/yr and I told them before my treatment began with a hard copy benefit sheet. However they insisted and demanded me to pay initiation fee $1,000 and monthly installment fees. Make situation worse, they deducted these fees and claimed to Delta less total treatment fees. I am still dealing with this mess with billing department. Dr. Shen has contacted me and he is trying to solve this mess but I am not sure if it will ever be fixed. I love OrthoWorks! :) This one in particular has such friendly staff that always work well. The workers are nice and welcoming. They all obviously know what they're doing and I don't recall having any problems. (the closest to a bad experience was when one of the hygienists was a little rough when she was working with my mouth. I think maybe she was upset or having a bad day, so I ldidn't say anything. That happened only once.) For whatever questions you have in mind, they have answers. When they're working with me they try to make it most efficient as possible. If it's a quick appointment I can be out of there in less than 10 minutes so it's very convenient, and even if it's a long appointment they work carefully with my teeth. Making appointments and rescheduling appointments are easy as well. I'm already starting my second year of having braces with about less than a year to go (I hope) and so far my experience of braces at this Ortho is great. I would highly recommend this place for braces/invisalign. read more

They really do a great job as what I've seen from my friends son & was recommended by her last year ( about 9 months ago ). Put her name down as referral & knew that she'll get something from referring a friend. Followed up about it almost every month but nothing happened. David Shen convinced me to wear Invisalign to close the gaps between my teeth. Since I am not a professional I listened to his advice. After $7,000-worth of treatment, my jaws were hurting, the gaps were not closed, there was overbite so nothing got better. Initial exam was carried out by David Shen but after the first treatment some less experienced dental personnel (I am not sure if they were dentists) worked on my teeth. And he wanted to charge me extra money to fix the failed treatment. read more

When I was in college, I stopped wearing my retainers every night because of late night parties and sleeping drunk lol. I think this lasted for a whole month to the point where one of my tooth gradually shifted (not too bad though but you can definitely see it in pictures if it was zoomed in). This was in 2009. During that same year, I went to the San Francisco downtown location to see Dr. Tomer. She made a new retainer for me and added a screw on it to push that one tooth forward. To this day, my tooth is still not as straight as I hoped to be. So I decided to come to this location since it was near my house to see if my retainer needed to be adjusted again or do I need another braces treatment. They charged me $80 for an office fee because they only cover patients for follow up visits for up to two years from the time you get your braces off. My appointment was scheduled for 11:30 AM. However, I didn't see the ortho until 11:45 AM. The nurse who did the pre-consultation of my teeth for measurements was completely lost. She didn't know how to use the the computer and she was grumpy too. I don't remember my ortho's name but she's young and I think Korean? She just quickly glanced at my teeth and said "oh, you need a brand new treatment. I would suggest Invisalign". I asked could it be the retainer and she said no, because the screw should've helped the crooked tooth but it didn't. Then she ran off to another patient and the nurse who did the pre-consultation brought me in to speak with the finance lady about the cost of Invisalign. The cost for Invisalign was supposed to be $7k but they got it down to $5300 since I was previously a customer. I asked the finance lady if I could ask my ortho more questions about alternative options and she was nice enough to check with the dr to see if she's available. Of course the doctor wasn't available. Instead, they brought in another nurse to see if she could help me answer questions. Even though I'm highly considering of getting Invisalign, I refuse to give OrthoWorks my business. The customer service has gone down hill and it is not worth the hassle and frustration. read more

This place is alright. I went here BC my old dentist referred me here for othro work..and I read the reviews here of course. I was searching for quotes for invisalign this place quotes me for $5600. I told them no thanks cuz the previous place was $5500. They told me they can price match..that easy? Why not drop the price so its affordable? Anyways, when they were taking the photos of my teeth the assistant put some thing in my to help pull my lips apart to get the whole view of my teeth..this thing smelt disgusting and there was a taste to it that was horrible ..it ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth and smell for like 3 days. I was consistently brushing my teeth, flossing and rinsing with mouth wash. After going to other othro places for quotes none of these other mouth pieces tasted like that or swnlt bad like that..so im not sure what was going on with this place. Lol. I ended up find a place that was a lot cheaper and cleaner. this place seemed good and everyone was friendly but I would recommend my friends and family to another place. read more

I would to commend the staff of Dr. Shen's clinic at his San Bruno location, they are exceptionally friendly and approachable and easy to contact. I had few emergencies and left them messages, they always get back to me on time. Secondly, I am very picky and particular on whoever is doing my adjustment I don't want to keep going to different dental assistant, after testing some of them. I found a couple of exceptional dental assistants first is Tina who used to do my adjustments but she is always off or on vacation during my appointment. So I found Mercedez who is extremely talented and caring for her patients. A new Doctor who joined the team last year is an additional asset to that clinic, I always tease her I can wear my braces till I'm eighty so that I can keep coming in that clinic and chat with them. Unfortunately I forgot her name she might kill me if she knows that I don't remember her name because I always address her as Doctor. read more

Had my braces here with Dr Shen and now wearing my permanent retainers. Dr Shen is very kind, skillful, patience, always listen to all the questions or concerns I have. Best orthodontist! I had other doctors before and they weren't as great as Dr Shen. I broke my brackets 1-2 times, and the glue on permanent retainers sometimes get loose, staff will always help to squeeze me in so doctor can fix it for me. Dr Shen always spent time to explain the procedure - what he will do and why he did that so I understand the whole process. The rest of the doctors are great too. All the staff who work there are wonderful, friendly and nice. The office is clean and all instruments are always sanitized wrapped. Highly recommended! read more

I've been coming here for almost 2 years now- it was recommended by my co-worker. The office itself is clean and organized. The financial part of it was pretty straight forward and the woman helping me was very kind and informative. The front desk is always friendly and courteous. I would LOVE to know the name of the Orthodontist that I'm working with. This is how ALL of my appointments have gone so far: Check in on the computer, wait 5 minutes, come into the treatment area and sit on these reclining chairs, lay back and have some lady look at my teeth... they do their adjustments, "see you next time", I make my next appointment with the ladies in the front desk, and that's it. This is just me-but I would like to know the names of the people who I'm working with to make my teeth straighter... whether its the orthodontist or the tech I'm seeing... Tbh, they have great hours and convenient services for a patient like me. They are quick and have an easy check in process when I come in for appointments. Monique helps me every time with appointment reminders and rescheduling via my personal preferences (text or email) and whenever I come, Dr. Yoon, who could be frustrated with my slow progress, is always patient and encouraging. I've passed by this building so many times knowing one day my kids might need braces and if they would be a good office to bring my kids to when that time comes. Well yesterday I actually went there to meet my wife and kids for a consultation for braces for one of my daughters. Got in to the office and filled out some papers and not too long after, Tina came and brought us in to start the consultation. Tina was very thorough and let us know what she was doing during the examination. Next, Dr. Yoon came in examined my daughters teeth and explained what she was looking for and what needs to be done. I asked so many questions I thought I might start to irritate them but they happily answered each and every one! My kids, just like most get a little nervous when it comes to anything "dental" even though they've always had good experiences. My daughter didn't seem nervous so that was a good sign. After meeting Tina and Dr. Yoon, my daughter actually felt ready to get braces. Once we were done we met with Monique to go over the costs and options for financing. Again, I had plenty of questions that would piss most people of but she gladly answered them all! I didn't realize that my wife and oldest daughter was in the same office a week before for a consultation and now it seems OrthoWorks might have 2 new patients (maybe 3 when my youngest daughter is ready) in the near future. Overall they were very professional, very thorough and made us feel comfortable.
