Orthoworks puts a bad taste in my mouth every time I think of how they hustle patrons. My husband had his braces done here. Well he lost his retainers and I was fine with paying for a new one. When I consulted them they told me it would cost $550 for a new one. Well they didn't know before hand that I check with his dentist to call his insurance company if they will cover retainer fees. The insurer said they cover a one time fee of $500. So when I went to orthoworks to get him molded and discuss prices. They said $550 so I tell them that his insurance covers $500 so then they said ok. Walk to the front then came back and said that his insurance covers $500 but they would need an additional $550 total from us to cover their fees. Smh. I had no choice because no other orthodontist will mold him for a replacement if he was treated by them. So I paid and just said to my husband when our son needs his braces done we won't be coming here. My sisters had their braces done here and this is how they tack on fees. First let me say I had my braces done from Orthoworks some 15 years ago when I was in my teens, with AMAZING results. My son is now a new patient of theirs and I gotta tell you, hasn't much changed (that's a good thing). Their Dr's and staff are very friendly and patient. Atmosphere of the office is great. Consistent. Consistent. Consistent. These ladies make you feel welcomed from the start of consultation to each appointment. I am greeted by Monique, May and Edna as soon as I walk through the door. There are several technicians, but appointments can take up to an hour. I usually see Dr. Shen, but Dr. Yee is also very advisable. Their goal is to correct your teeth as safely and efficient as possible. You'll feel instant changes within the first week. They have sinks for the patients stocked with toothbrushes, floss and mouth wash. The office is very clean and the patient chairs are sanitized and covered with plastic lining. Also, they open dental instruments from new sealed packages. OrthoWorks gives you pamphlets of information about what you need to know about your braces and how to maintain them at the beginning of consultation. They have a nickle wooden program they offer to earn cool prizes! They offer Invisalign, ceramic, tradition metal and other options. Love them! Love them! Love them! I got my braces here 21 months ago so I feel like I now know their business well enough to finally write a review. Where do I start? The location is perfect. It's really easy to get there through public transportation, Bart, bus and Caltrain. If you drive, parking is never an issue, there's always plenty of parking. I also love how close it is to Tanforan mall. I can take advantage of my trip there to get a few things off my shopping list. It's super easy to communicate with them, the phones are always answered pretty quickly and they always sound so friendly. They focus on your phone call, unlike other offices where it seems like they're not listening to you and you have to keep repeating yourself. I love their late afternoon appointments, as late as 7:00 pm on certain days of the week, no need to take time off work. The Doctors and the assistants are always so friendly, they smile, they make eye contact and they just make you feel comfortable. I never have to wait more than 15 minutes pass the time of my appointments. I have no idea how they manage to stay on schedule because they just always seem so relaxed, no one ever seems to be rushing. Absolutely love them ! read more

The place is pretty welcoming. I suggest going to the same doctor, one you have found to be helpful and consistent, so that your treatment isn't delayed. My favorite is Dr. Yoon because she will tell me exactly what she is doing and will address the concerns and questions I have. Not too sure about the wooden nickel plan-it's not as much of an incentive when you are older, but the prizes seem to be useful! I think it's great they are using Yelp now too. Their receptionists are okay...depends on who you are talking to. Most I have encountered seem to usually be in training or something because they take a long time for simple things. Calling them is usually a hassle too. Getting things done in person is a lot easier. Will update when I finally get my braces off. I got my braces on at Orthoworks in San Bruno in 2009, wore them for the required time frame, and then had them removed. The results were excellent. Within the less than two-year period that I wore them, I had to show up for my appointments so that adjustments could be made as necessary. The only thing I can say about the office staff is what characterizes them the best: kindness, pleasantness, and caring attitudes. No matter who I came in contact with during each of my regular appointments, I encountered office staff that were kind, caring, and pleasant. From Monique & Vivian (and others) at the front desk to Tina & Doreen who were the RDA's that worked on me, I was greeted with a smile and a friendly greeting, every time without exception. In addition, they actively engaged me in conversation and we would often make jokes that had each of us laughing quite hard. Another thing that also stands out is that they actually remembered things that we had discussed at my previous appointment which sometimes was one-month prior. It got to the point to where I actually looked forward to my next adjustment because they were so friendly. I was an adult patient, but to them age has nothing to do with how they treat their patients. I would often observe how they interacted with other patients (many of them much younger than me) during my appointment and I noticed that they treated everyone the same. I was first introduced to this place from my cousin who received treatment here. This office is really popular. Every appointment was on time (huge plus) I hate waiting... I like that they have an arrangement of magazines I actually read! The website was easy to navigate.
