The parking lot is pretty small and there's no valet, so it's a little tough getting in and out. They also seem to limit how many people they let in, so reservations are probably required. I came here for my birthday and the service was pretty mid. I was a little disappointed because the atmosphere makes it seem like it would be more of an upscale place, but the service didn't match that at all. We weren't welcomed or asked if we were celebrating anything, which I kind of expected. I had a few questions about some of the dishes and the server couldn't really answer them and had to go back and ask. He also didn't seem aware of any birthday or celebration things they offer, which made the whole experience feel a little underwhelming. I tried the 6 course meal and added on a scallop, cucumbers(sunomono), chutoro, otoro, and savory taiyaki from the à la carte. I also tried a couple of their drinks the pandan and yuzu matcha. First, the 6 course meal started off with a salad (Popeyes salad) and that was topped with a bacon dressing. I would give that 4 stars. The next item that came out was the kanpachi crudo and that was a refreshing yuzu flavor and interesting coconut jellies that paired well. I give that 5 stars, it's a must try dish. They brought out the waygu lumpia next and that was crispy and savory waygu on the outside. This is also 5 stars as a must try dish. Then they brought out the flight of fish-Suzuki sea bass, madai butterfish. The flavors for each one of these were unique and something I've never tried before. The quality of the fish was silky and fresh. I'd give them 4 stars on this just because some of the flavors did not really hit for me. I also think they use brown rice which is interesting and I actually like the take on that. Then Uni was next and that was melt in your mouth and buttery, also 5 stars. Last they brought out was the Cornish hen and that was filling and so tender. It came with broth which really elevated the dish. The potato's that came as a side with it was odd with a mustardy dressing, I don't think it paired well with the dish. For dessert, a pistachio molten lava cake. It was a little bit too rich for my taste but it similar to a Dubai dessert without the chocolate and Kanafi. I give that 3 stars. I was also given an extra dessert for my birthday which I chose the coconut ice cream that had wasabi jelly. Surprisingly, the jellies did not taste like wasabi and this dessert was amazing. It was creamy and light, 5 stars. The added items that I tried were the cucumbers and that had a spicy flavor and sour, 4 stars. Then the otoro and chutoro which the quality of the fish was fresh, 4 stars. The scallop was next level I highly recommend this. It was perfectly seared and had a velvety melt in your mouth texture. That one was by far my favorite out of all the dishes. The savory tayaki was unique I can't even really explain the taste but the butter that it comes with is smoked, 4 stars. The pandan alcoholic drink was way too strong and I think ruined the pandan flavor for me, 2 stars. The yuzu matcha (non alcoholic) was very bright and refreshing. I loved this drink 5 stars.

I'm a big fan of Neo so I was excited to try this place. The highlights are definitely the fish pastries and roe, the chicken and Wagyu lumpia. What I anticipated to be the hits were unfortunately a let down. Nigiris were my least favorite course of the entire meal, which was quite surprising. Fish options were flat for me. The crispy tuna was also a no for me. I love crispy tuna but I did not appreciate this take on the dish. It was not for me.

We never made it into Neo before it closed so I was very excited to try out Oru. We had a 6:45pm reservation for 4 people on a Saturday night. When I made the reservation you could book either the dining room or the bar so I was a little surprised to find that the dining room is also all sushi counter. We arrived promptly at 6:45 but weren't seated until around 7pm. They were apologetic about the wait and brought out some sake for us to drink which was very hospitable. We were eventually seated at the corner of the sushi counter which was great because we were still able to visit as a 4 top. For dinner we ordered a hodge-podge of different items but we especially enjoyed the Tuna Crispy Rice, Okage (Mushroom Porridge), and the fresh nigiri. For dessert we had the coconut sorbet. I am personally not much of a sweets gal, but this was OUTSTANDING. The texture was pillowy and almost marshmallow like and was so light and delicious. When we come back I will for sure be ordering the banana ice cream with caviar because if the coconut sorbet is this good then that is for sure worth trying. I very much enjoyed sleek modern design of the restaurant, the chic restrooms and the food, but mostly I was impressed with how phenomenal the service was.

I was in town visiting a friend who hadn't been to Oru yet so we made reservations for a Friday around 8:15pm. We were immediately sat, asked if we were celebrating anything, and had a super cute and friendly server, Kaylee (I think that was her name!) who helped us work through the menu. We picked a few appetizers and nigiri (scallop was incredible). The tuna crispy rice was heavenly. I loved the Wagyu lumpia but my friend did not (probably a mistake on our part to order). Some of the flavor with the nigiri was almost too overwhelming, taking away the flavor from the fish, but we still enjoyed it. The uni was buttery and delicious and absolutely hit the spot. Very clean, modern ambiance.

This was the best sushi we've had in a hot minute. Service was very friendly and attentive. The sushi was so fresh. Everything was so yum. Clean, modern inside as well. Def a must visit if you haven't already. Everything was chefs kiss

There's main room dining and bar seating (small bar seat of 5 at entrance) vs main room showed in the video. Got the 13 piece omakase including the coconut ish icecream for $140 pre tax pre tip. My favorite pieces were the first three pieces the scallop, the sea bass and another white fish. Other pieces didn't stood out as much. Also got the neo's special- the banana icecream with caviar for dessert (maybe two icecream in one sitting was just too much haha). Miso soup was saltier than I would like it to be. If you enjoy omakase or a la carte style Oru is a very solid place for their nigiris! Definitely will return. Service - super friendly staff, fast and attentive.

Really lovely omekase experience. Simple interior design, fresh food. Taiyaki, fish-shaped cakes, coupled with roe and a hay-smoked butter was very smoky & flavorful. The wagyu lumpia is intended to be eaten quickly to stay crispy. Wagyu is wrapped around a deep-fried egg roll stuffed with mushroom duxelles and was all things lovely. We finished off our night with pistachio coulant that was warm & delicious. We also had the banana ice cream with caviar - this surprisingly intriguing combo worked well. Parking is awfully small - uber highly recommended.

Highly recommend this place, whether it be for a meet up with friends, or a date night. Reservations can be made on RESY and I definitely recommend making them about a week out. There is a parking lot, but it is pretty small. Based on the small seating amount, you should most likely be able to find a spot. Now to the good stuff! There is a daily specials sheet of paper that you will get that will have the specials for the day. Then there is a main menu that has starters, salads, and soups, means, and various sashimi and Nigiri. There's also a great cocktail list and wines by the bottle and glass. My friend and I got the Omakase and it was $179 for two people and we definitely felt like it was worth it! You got to try quite a variety of items from each category of the menu. (Pics to follow!) overall, I felt like this place is such a great addition to the heights! It definitely seems a little more casual than most of Omakase places in town, so it's a great place to stop right after work or if you're just bouncing around the area. The trout row was hands-down, our favorite! Highly recommend checking this place out! From the time we walked in until the time we left, everything was completely outstanding from the food to the wait staff.

We came on Monday for their maki Monday and made it just in time for happy hour too! It was really good - loved the wagyu roll and also the Cornish hen was great and everything else was good too. Nice ambiance and really good service, love that they had hot food offerings and not just sushi. Will be back!

Overall everything was pretty solid. Tamago reminded me of the ones in Japan and that made my heart happy.

What an experience! I love how they did not have sodas so my fiancé had to try their non-alcoholic beverage, which he liked. He won't stop talking about Wagyu nigiri and Wagyu lumpia. Everything tasted delicious. I tried 3 of their cocktails 2 pandan, kiichigo bloom, and santalum. Surprisingly no hangover, clean clean! The service was great even though they were visually busy, great teamwork! Have to come back to try some of their desserts, we were full.

Oru is the newest concept from the same people as Neo and Kira where you can order items à la carte. Oru is minimally designed with U-shaped seating. They have a small private parking lot or street parking off of 24th. The staff is attentive and the chefs are still warm and approachable as they were when I dined at Neo and Kira. The Trout Roe Service was whimsical with the taiyaki and the Tofu Karaage was a surprise stand out. The Nigiri were fresh and desserts were unique and great way to end the meal.

Our trio enjoyed a nice evening at Oru. The staff explained the menu well and the chefs were kind and friendly.

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

The restaurant itself was pretty packed - there wasn't any parking (but they do have an overflow lot you can use). Inside the vibe was nice & upscale. It was surprisingly not intimate & was a little loud. The bathroom hallway was very cool (as the other reviews have said) I got the three course lunch w/ an added chutoro nigiri. The restaurant week lunch was fine, but the nigiri really stood out. I wish they would've had even just one nigiri on the restaurant week menu. The kombu salad was good & had nice flavor without being too overpowering. The hamachi crudo was awesome!! I'm a big crudo fan, but this one was above and beyond my expectations. All of the flavors played so well together & my yellowtail was so fresh and light and buttery. I loved the creaminess of the sauce & how it balanced the acidity of the tomatoes & onion so well. I savored every bite. Honestly the hand rolls left a lot to be desired. The kani hand role wasn't super great. The flavor was mid & the texture felt a bit off. I also thought sake hand roll was just ok.. My chutoro nigiri was also awesome. The cut was beautiful & the fish was super fresh and had an awesome texture. It just melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be back to try the lunch nigiri tasting menu. I'd recommend trying this place, just make sure to get the crudo or nigiri

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.
