I have ordered from this restaurant many times. They have found new and inventive ways to screw up my order. The wait staff obviously doesn't care and I'm now going into week two to get a call back from the manager who apparently is never there. They over charge and their food isn't worth the price or the hassle. If you want Japanese go to Hokkaido, their food is better and unlike Osaka their staff actually cares about their customers and don't overcharge. Avoid Osaka, it's a rip off. read more

When my Fiancée and I decided we wanted takeout, we quickly began looking at our options around Boone. After some discussion, we decided Osaka`s would be a great location for dinner. I ordered the hibachi steak and rice. I have to say, it was honestly the worst, burnt, small 6 pieces of steak I have ever had in my life. This is one of only 4 places in Boone that I consider good enough to go back to! I love Chinese and Japanese food and I have never had a bad meal here. They are very consistent and the prices are great. They specialize in Chinese and Japanese, and they have better General Tso's chicken and Orange chicken than any other place I have ever been to. This review is mostly over food, not service. How do I even start this review? Aside from the completely off-putting idea of this business being a mix of Sushi and Chinese food, we decided to give this restaurant a try for dinner. We should have realized that this really was a no-go when we walked in at 630 and only saw two tables occupied. I really wanted to like this food. I love Chinese food. But after being served Egg Drop Soup that was the color of food dye yellow with some egg whites stirred in and no veggies, I became pretty skeptical. Everything except for maybe the gyoza and fried wonton strips that they give you was, at one point not too distant from the time it got on your plate and to your table, frozen. Or from a box. Or from the refrigerator. All the sauces we got (that came with the strips, gyoza, etc.) were cold - like someone opened a bottle from a refrigerator, put it in a dish, and served it. Not only were both the Egg Drop and Wonton soups flavorless, Osaka's apparent idea of a vegetable is a few green onions. The wonton soup was 'made to order' by heating up some chicken broth, adding green onions, and plopping in some maybe freshly-made wontons for a couple of minutes. Not served with traditional ware. The Beef with Broccoli (ordered with 'fried rice') was.....an interesting adventure. The beef itself was okay, but drenched in sauce. The broccoli were stiff, incredibly bitter in the middle from having been frozen, and dyed green by the manufacturer to keep their color. The carrots had freezer burn so bad that they were stuck together and so solid a fork wouldn't stab into them. The 'fried rice' was white rice mixed with soy sauce with peas so frozen and hard that I couldn't smush one with two fingers when I picked it up and tried. The General Tso's Chicken was orange chicken with a couple dried hot red chilies on the side. There were even orange slices on my plate. The sauce was incredibly sweet - not at all spicey as even the menu indicates, and the chicken itself had no taste. It was seriously as if they took the frozen P.F. Chang's bags of orange chicken and served it to me for 9.95. The saving graces for this restaurant are the other server who seated us when she saw that the host was busy with a take out order, and the gyoza - the only thing that tasted like it was actually fresh made on the premises. I'm sorry. I've never written a review before, but this experience wasn't even worth the cheap price. I'll keep my 25 bucks and save myself the stomach ache next time. read more

We used to loooove Hunan in our college days, and we were disappointed it had been replaced by something else, but this place is actually better than Hunan ever was... Hate to say it ... But it's true.. Sushi was good.. Hibachi was good.. Great beer selection.. Awesome! read more

I'll start off on good note by saying their sushi is pretty good as well as the chicken lettuce wrap, BUT I ordered the udon soup, and my mom ordered the Osaka noodle. The vegetables tasted old and the broth was tasteless. My dads food was cold, and so was my moms soup. The waitress got some food on my dad, but she also discounted our food, so I can't really complain about the service. If you do end up coming here, get the sushi; the sushi is the only reason I didn't rate this place 1 star and is worth coming back for when in town. read more

The food is decently priced and we are always welcomed with smiling faces. The food isn't half bad and we normally order off the lunch specials or dinner combinations. We've tried the California roll and it wasn't the best so I wouldn't recommend the sushi but overall the food is good. read more

this place is great. sauces and soups are made from scratch, they have good quality rice, and they will bring you as many fried noodles with duck sauce as you can eat as a free appetizer. they have the best orange chicken and teriyaki chicken in town. The cook here specializes in Chinese food so if its your first time stick to chinese food or the teriyaki chicken or steak. read more

I went here with my boyfriend. We paid with a card but tipped with cash, and as we were walking out the door the waiter yelled at us across the entire restaurant, "NO TIP?". We corrected him and pointed out the $5 bill left on the table, and left without further words. Later to find out this was one of the owners of the establishment. This was previously Hunan. Hunan was plain and simply terrible so the bar is set low. Pros - the food was much better. I had Gen. Tso and Gyoza. This wasn't the best Asian food I've had by far, but it is definitely better than others in Boone (again, the bar is set low as none of the others are even mediocre). Cons - Service is poor. When I entered there were only two tables with diners. There were also two people waiting for to-go orders. Apparently the lady at the register forgot to place the orders so they had not even been prepared yet. I ordered and sat to wait. The order was ready in about 15 mins. When I stepped up to pay the total was more than the menu price. She said the menu was wrong. Most places would honor the price clearly printed on the menu, but as she had difficulty speaking or understanding English, I just paid the price on the ticket and left. Speaking of price, it is a little higher than most strip mall Asian joints. My order was $15 (most in the area would have been about $9 for the same order). After I arrived home to enjoy my meal, I realized they had forgotten the soup I also ordered. So after overcharging me, they left out part of the order. Also didn't receive any condiments (soy, duck, ginger, etc), napkins or plasticware or the traditional fortune cookie. Though to be fair, I didn't specifically ask for any of that as I mistakenly assumed it would be in the bag. Long story short - better food than before, but terrible service. If they could step up the service I'd give it another shot. read more
