Wonderful will be the word. I went there with my family visiting for Christmas, the ambience brings the Thai vibe. Our waitress was funny. She was amazing and she made us the recommendations about the food we ordered two different beers (Thailand) just for the experience. Can't tell about the difference with another beer but was good. There's sushi, rolls, ramen, miso soup. Also cheers with hot sake. 100% recommend, we ordered rice and pad Thai noodle with crispy chicken in tamarind sauce. Delicious. Love that the menu has jalapeño next to the description of every dish so you can pick one mild or moderate or none. Funny story: my boyfriend asked if he can get more spicy ; our Waitress said hot Thai level will make him cry hahah so he kept his mild/moderate spicy dish, but he said wasn't mild at all. Came to the mountains for a hike and wanted something to warm me up and fuel my hike. I landed on Thong Summit and was not disappointed. You can order online and pick up through a few options. I got a text when the order was ready and it was spot on for the estimate I was given on the website. The parking lot is large and plenty of parking. The space inside was smaller, but quaint. When I walked in, the front desk worker was quick to get me the food and I was on my way! I followed the other Yelp reviews and got the Khao Soi add shrimp mild spice. It was so so so good and a large portion, which makes sense for the price. I also got a spicy salmon roll, which isn't too bad, but not the best I've had. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the mountains and plan to get another Thai style meal option. read more

We've eaten here many times over the past few years. We were very happy until late last year and this summer. Ordered take out tonight and it was less than memorable. Pad thai with shrimp had 5 shrimp and very bland flavor. Husband had thai fried rice with shrimp. He said never again. 5 shrimp, broccoli, some onion and very little egg. Lackluster flavor. Sad because it used to be so good and our go to. read more

What a surprisingly delightful little gem hidden in the mountains of Western NC! We walked in with a party of 10 and were seated within minutes. After taking our drink orders, we received appetizers (seaweed salad) within 5 minutes before getting our main course, a giant boat filled with a variety of delicious sushi rolls! Everything was fresh and the presentation was fantastic. The kids in our party also appreciated many of the fun decorations. Thanks again for an excellent dining experience Thong Summit. It's a cute little restaurant inside- very cozy. The food is ok- I got the pad Thai- the noodles were good, but the chicken looked and tasted like a microwave pre-cooked chicken breast. I just didn't feel like I was eating real food. The servers talked to each other and to customers across the restaurant loudly, and in a small space it felt like I couldn't really carry on a conversation with the people I was with. Cute place with both indoor and outdoor seating. A bit small on the inside (still a good amount of seating tho) but lots of space on the patio. The food was amazing! We started with the shrimp tempura roll and were all very impressed with how good it was. Crab rangoons were super yummy too. For my main, I had the yellow curry and it was delicious. What a wonderful jewel of a restaurant right here in downtown West Jefferson! The service by server Boat was attentive and friendly. We ate on the patio because we had our dog. Absolutely the worst sushi I've had. The signature Magic Roll had no flavor. Had two other guests try the roll and they had the same thoughts. Shared with the waitress our experience and the specific issues. The spicy tuna on top tasted canned with no flavor, avocado has not ripe and hard. Topping was inconsistent and missing completely on half of the roll. Waitress understood our disappointment and agreed, however management was unwilling to offer anything. No apology, discount or comp. Just full price check. Would not recommend the restaurant to anyone. Try any other restaurant in the area before going here. One star is being overly generous. If you've ever had fresh sushi, this place will definitely disappoint you. read more

Wish I had remembered to take pics, sorry. First if you like crab Rangoon's you better try theirs, the best I ever had! Fabulous seafood salad, with lots of goodies and spiced just right. I wanted the Tom Yum Soup but due to Tuesdays being slow they didn't have it. I had Tom Kha soup, very good! Then I finished it off with a spicy Tuna Roll, yum. This is absolutely an amazing place here in West Jefferson. If you have any inclination to try Thai food, this is the best you'll find anywhere. This was our second time here. We ordered steamed dumplings, Tom yumm kha soup, chicken pad Thai. It was all delicious! Even the honey ginger tea and the wine bottle we had were great! The soup is my favorite though! It's hearty, lots of veggies and full of flavor! Spicy, citrusy, delicious. The Pad thai was also very flavorful. The service is friendly and welcoming. Food was good however I was disappointed they don't offer chicken as a protein for the Tom Kha soup. Asked server as I wasn't wanting shrimp, tofu or vegetable but was told chicken couldn't be added. Thought that was odd as every other Thai restaurant I've been to across the country offers chicken as an option for the soup. read more

Went here with 2 other people. Two of us were underwhelmed (I had curry shrimp) and he had some sushi roll. The other person had drunken noodles and they were excellent. I was also told the Thai iced tea was excellent. I'd possibly go back for a noodle dish. read more

The last two times we went to Thong it was cold inside, like mid 60's. The second time we pointed that out. ALL of the other customers kept their coats on, but we had none. The heat did not go up. It's a shame that the food is fantastic, but the customer does not come first. read more

First time here. It was wonderful! We had one of the fall specials: Khao Soi. It was delicious! The service was excellent; when we arrived, the restaurant was 80% full but they shuffled a table around and made seating for our party of three. The dining room is small and quaint but is wasn't too loud and it wasn't crowded at all. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

I am not a big fan of Tai food. That's the reason for only 4 stars. My meal was Pad Thai with chicken. I chose this because I don't like hot spicy food. It was tasty with a sweet flavor. I went with 4 other people who all had Khao Soi with shrimp. They all liked their meal. The service was excellent. The wait staff was very helpful with answering questions and recommendations. SO GOOD! We called to order takeout thanksgiving night and when we went to pick up our order the staff was eating their thanksgiving dinner. They must have stopped eating just to make our order. We ordered pad Thai and red curry and both were so good and fresh! We ordered takeout the next night as well because it was so good. We have been to this restaurant many times, so we could give a good review. This was the first time we had carry-out. 1). The pad Thai is horrible. No flavor, greasy noodles, and barely a hint of Thai spices and it didn't taste fresh. A waste of money. If you haven't had good pad Thai at another restaurant, you'll probably like it. 2) Crab rangoon--Fried well, but instead of the 5 they used to give, it's now 4 and for the exact same price. Cheap. 3) Rice--We measured. We received 4TB in the carry-out portion. Cheap. 4) Red Curry-Still the best thing on their menu. Rate a 5. 5) Sushi-so far, so good. 6) DONT sign up for their frequent customer program. We've spent over $200 there over 3 trips and it's a scam. None of the employees (so far) know how it works. We pay our bill and they say it's too late, or we ask how to apply it to our bill and they don't know. Owner: educate your servers or get rid of the program. Another note to the owner: You're starting to cheap out. We felt we were getting our money's worth when you opened, but now we feel you are taking your customers. Or..maybe you have a new cook who needs to learn more about preparing Thai food. A 2 star means it could have been better, but we gave you a 3 star only because of the curry. read more

I live in a small town in North Carolina and when Thong Summit opened many people were delighted for this type of restaurant. Several of our "better" restaurants are meat and potatoes kind of food but Thong Summit has brought us the combination of Thai, Chinese, Japanese food and in addition they have an unbelieveable sushi menu! Yes, the prices are a bit high but when I leave there I always think...that was SO WORTH IT! I highly recommend Thong Summit in West Jefferson, North Carolina! read more

Upon hearing the name 'Thong Summit,' you might expect to walk into a venue that's... less about dining and more about, well, thongs. But brace yourselves, dear foodies, for the only cheeky business happening at Thong Summit Sushi & Thai is the playful dance of flavors on your tongue! This gem tucked away in West Jefferson is as quaint as it is delightful, offering an array of dishes that could easily turn a skeptic into a believer. Stepping into Thong Summit, I half expected to be greeted by a lineup of scantily clad sushi rolls. Instead, I was welcomed by an intimate setting where the kitchen ballet is on full display - it's almost like dinner and a show, but here, the performers are chefs, and their stage is a flaming grill. The service is so quick and attentive, you'd think they teleported your food from the kitchen to your table. In a blink, my table was graced with miso soup, edamame, and an array of sushi rolls that looked too good to eat. Almost. The miso soup whispered secrets of the far east into my soul, the edamame popped with a snap of freshness, and the sushi? Oh, the sushi was a symphony in my mouth, each roll more melodious than the last. I've yet to dive into their Thai offerings, but if their sushi is anything to go by, I expect my taste buds will be packing their bags for a trip to Bangkok in no time. And before you ask - no, offering both sushi and Thai doesn't mean they're juggling too much. If anything, Thong Summit proves they've got the culinary focus of a monk meditating on a mountaintop. So, if you're cruising through West Jefferson with a hankering for some seriously good eats, swing by Thong Summit. And don't let the name fool you - the only thing risqué about this place is how daringly delicious the food is.
