The best part in my opinion is the Mongolian/hibachi grill aspect. Mix together a bowl with everything and they cook it. Hard to go wrong with that. If you don't like it that was all your choice. They just apply the heat. They have a good selection of sushi. And I didn't get food poisoning. Sushi is always a risky bit at a buffet. I had to ask for a strictly vegetarian roll for a friend and they made it but it's a shame they didn't have any sitting out. Vegetarian options were generally lacking. Consisted mostly of fried food and salad. Chinese food was decent albeit Americanized (as is every Chinese buffet), especially the crab rangoons and sesame balls. The pork bun was pretty good, as were the wontons. Only 4 stars because food wasn't great (just good) and Saturday prices were higher than expected. They had dinner pricing all day, which makes sense but was not well-advertised. Monday-Friday lunch is 17.99, dinner and weekends are 22.99. All in all better food than Canaan Buffet, but worse desserts and no lunch Mongolian station. Today they had cajun-style (?) crawfish which seemed popular and kept getting replenished at the buffet bar. Was very pleased w the covid measures in place, in that, they require using a mask and plastic gloves when at the bar, have hand sanitizers at the bar, and everyone was seated sparsely. I understand COVID has made it difficult to operate a Buffet. Very confused as to why having only two out of 5 or 6 Buffet tables opened is any different then having them all open. We used reusable plates and bowls but were given cheap platic forks and spoons, small Styrofoam cups for water. The soy sauce, salt and.pepper were sticky and unclean. Service was terrible. They only offered small water or canned soda (with no cup or ice). Water was meter refilled. We tried this place on a whim, not really knowing what to expect. The place smelled like fish as soon as we walked in. That was my first red flag. I liked the area where you pick out your frozen meats, noodles and vegetables to be grilled. That was really good. One of my pieces of broccoli tasted like mold. Staffs always keep checking on food and cook more of it's out. The owner always go around and cleaning, make sure the restaurant clean. For $37 for lunch for 2, I'd expect way more. Food is lukewarm at best, and not very tasty, not to mention a limited selection and most dishes had very little left in the pan to take from. Bland is an accurate description. The seating surrounds a makeshift Chinese grocery market which is very visually depressing. Carpet is dirty and stained. One man, presumably an owner or manager, walking around with his mask on his chin, tossing food with un gloved hand, holding his phone in the other, on speaker phone carrying on a conversation with a woman for the entire time we were eating. This place gets one star only because I can't leave zero stars. To wrap it up, avoid this dump and go somewhere else. Better Chinese food has to be somewhere in Spokane. They charged us $17.99 each (my husband and I), they had soft shell crab that all the meat was boiled out of it...NO MEAT IN IT AT ALL, there was no sweet and sour sauce, no egg drop soup, the sushi had OBVIOUSLY been sitting out, the salmon on top was dried out, the only good sushi was the yellow fin tuna and California rolls. My husband did say the clams were some of the best he's tasted, and some mayo based sauce on some chicken dish was good, but the rest wasn't even considered average by Chinese buffet cuisine standards. No one in the dining room, went and asked the cashier for the other tea and water, he tells me to go find someone, it's not his job. Then have someone in the dining room, instead of letting your staff sleep. Tables needed to be bused, same empty tables had dirty dishes on them when I walked in and were still there when I left. Maybe they could have bused the dirty plates off of the tables. Half the plates on the line were dirty, seems they did a quick rinse off. over all the staff wasn't happy to see customers come in. I just keep coming back even though one time i got food poisoning from it, the quality is average at best and the ambiance is that of a 7 eleven mixed with a hospital cafeteria. it makes me feel so bloated and salted out afterwards. Maybe it's all the msg or that it just hits all the sweet and savory notes. Maybe it's the fact that you can eat til you pop. Certain dishes are definitely better than others. And then you notice, the flies on all of the food, and the mold on the cheese in the salad bar, and then wonder why you paid to eat here... We also had steamed pork buns that were extremely undercooked along with a couple of other items that were undercooked. Not quite sure how these people are still open or how or why they seem to charge as much as they do. Really frustrated and annoyed about this. Also, at a Buffet, they should remove your plates as they pile up at the table. They literally just let them pile up and then they finally came to remove them at the very end.
