You can access the park via a dirt road, just off of West Street, next to the YMCA. Park at the YMCA or drive down the dirt road a bit to park inside. It is an easy jump skip from the East Bay Bike Path as well for those using a bipedal method of transportation. The trails are not extensive, only about 2.5 miles in total if you traverse all of the loops, but the views of Brickyard Pond are worth it. The 84-acre body of water sits on 230 acres of land, named for its history as a site of the brick-making industry in the area up until the 1940's. Due to hazardous structures in the water, swimming is not allowed. Fishing is allowed only certain times of the year since the pond is home to some herring spawning grounds. There is a boat launch as well as several points of access to the water for kayaking. Two trails, the Red and Green, make their way along the shore of the pond and into the forested acreage of the park. Summersweet plants flower everywhere along the trails, filling the air with their pleasant aroma. For the most part I stayed on trail but there were a number of unmarked routes leading who-knows-where. I explored some of these but didn't stray too far. The trails were well-marked with their colored blazes and arrow signs but with so many trails breaking off from the main loops, it was easy to get turned around. Well-kept, there were several bridges and walkways built into the path to skip over lazy moving streams and marshy areas. From their maps, it appears that several more trails looping around the pond are in the works, connecting the park to the bike patch directly. It will be wonderful once development is complete. Near the boat launch is a peaceful clearing with tables and park benches. A great place for a picnic or to simply kick back and soak up the outdoors. A nice find in downtown Barrington. As a side note: there was a surprising amount of litter in the parking lot inside the grounds... the trails were clean but some of the areas with grills and benches were visited by litter bugs and party animals. Trash, broken glass... dropped it down to 4-stars for me despite my enjoyable experience in the rest of the park.

This walking path is located within the Rocky Point State Park. It's a 1.6 mile loop paved path…read more Many people, walk, walk their dogs, skate, and ride bikes on it. There are benches along the way to rest at. I really enjoyed the beautiful views of the Narragansett Bay. There are some educational signs along the way, remnants of the old amusement park, and a fishing pier. There was ample parking when we went. There are paths to the water; I like the cute little hidden beach off the path. Overall, a great spot to take a walk and get some steps in!

Definitely use caution when the tide is coming in however, as the currents here are extremely strong and tragedies have occurred. There are also benches overlooking the water, picnic tables, a playground and bathrooms. Nice place to walk, enjoy a picnic, or just relax by the water.

I only walked the area in East Providence near the troll, so I can't speak for the whole path, but this area offers a nice view of the waterfront. I've seen other posts complain about ticks, but the areas off path seemed trimmed and maintained, so it didn't seem to be an issue. Even as crowded as it was, bicyclists were flying along the path, so be careful.

There are beautiful water views along a lot of the way. It's also mostly flat with just a few small hills so it's very beginner friendly and kids can do it. There's a Del's lemonade stand right off the path in Warren where we usually stop for a refreshing frozen lemonade or ice tea along the way. There's also a taco trailer behind the Del's which is open seasonally but I haven't tried them yet. It gets pretty crowded on sunny weekends but it's so fun and everyone is in good spirits.

I felt my cortisol drop significantly just after a few steps on the trail. At one point, the Providence noise pollution almost disappeared & all I could hear was birds & bugs & wind. Unfortunately it's a seriously confusing smorgasbord of trails. I had to pull up AllTrails a few times, which is borderline embarrassing, considering how small of a park this is. I'm not sure I really followed any of the proper trails, just kinda zigzagged around. I would've felt more at ease if the trails were marked more clearly. Still highly recommend as a great green space. Enjoy!

Thr view from the top is amazing and it has seating and a fire pit. Great place for early morning sunrise or late evening sunset yoga and meditation ‍. The skate park, playground and baseball field makes this a big family spot.

Several years ago, this beautiful waterfront property was an amusement park. After the amusement…read morepark closed, Rocky Point was abandoned for several years until the state of RI purchased it and reopened the property as a state park. You can still see the remnants of some of the rides, and there are informative signs throughout displaying the history of the property. I love the walking paths here, and I especially love poking around the shoreline at all of the little beach areas (some which are only accessible at low tide) and looking for shells and seaglass. Several of the walking paths are paved and are wheel chair accessible, and others a just a little more rugged with some climbing over rocks to get down to the shoreline. I also love the large fishing pier and this weekend my daughter and I relaxed on one of the benches out at the end of the pier and just enjoyed the sunshine. Rocky Point is an awesome place to spend time outdoors.

Rivers mills and…read moreivy The Pawtuxet River Trail is a short trail that goes along the Pawtuxet River. You can maybe get two and a half miles with a round trip from this trial. Possible more, depending on how lost you get at the south part. The trail is well marked if you park at the famous banquet hall, Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The trail then just follows the river until you get to Dallas Ave or perhaps if you get creative you can make it to Warwick Ave. The trail is narrow and over grown with all kinds of very healthy poison ivy, thorns and bushes. Lots of mosquitoes and ticks love this area and the river itself looks less than clean. You pass some old and abandoned mill type places and get to see some debris left over from another time. It's difficult to really know where this trail exactly stops because if you cut through parking lots you can find other section of trails along the water. Certainly not the most scenic trail and probably a place I wouldn't want to be a night. I doubt it gets much traffic because parts are almost impassable because of the poison ivy and thorns. It might be one of those places that looks a whole lot better frozen, when the ice and snow covers most of it. During the summer it is probably best left to the ticks and flies.

Yesterday 3/18/20 I was doing some wildlife photography there because there is a lot of wildlife in…read morethat small area and by chance happened to start talking to the most beautiful woman I ever met that was walking her dog. I showed her a few photos of animals & birds I have taken there. I haven't been able to get her out of my mind. The area is very enchanting and so was she. Oh well, didn't get any photos of the wildlife but meeting her made for a successful day of seeing beauty besides the beautiful surroundings of the Pawtuxet River. Who knows, might run into her another time ?
