Shrimp cocktail roll special
Anne O.

This family operated sushi and teriyaki restaurant is the best in Fredericksburg. The food is outstanding and the family atmosphere makes it our"go to" restaurant for sushi. Chef O. is trained in the Tokyo style and his preparations are outstanding. Daily specials are inspiring, too.

Best sushi in Fredericksburg!! Workers are super nice as well! My favorite is the spicy crab shrimp tempura roll!

Bibimbap and bulgogi
Nick S.

Overrated in my opinion. Very few Korean options despite being told the owners were from Korea. Having lived in Korea for several years thought we would give it a try. We ordered the bulgogi and bibimbap. Bulgogi was salty and the portion was way too small for what they were charging. Bibimbap was lukewarm at best and was served in a regular large bowl. Have never had this dish served in anything outer than a stone bowl and comes out sizzling. Overpriced for what you get as well The ONLY reason the rating wasn't lower is because the service was really good and the kimchi was good. Other than that, this is not even close to being 4-5 stars.

OVERALL: superb sushi and great atmosphere. FOOD: the menu is extensive with lots of bento boxes, rolls, and specialty options. They also have sake which I highly recommend. We got the Peach sake and it was the perfect blend - not too sweet not too alcoholic. They sell bottles for $17. SERVICE: pretty quick and easy! VENUE: there's a bar inside and tables on the other side for sitting. Very quaint. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and casual. You must check it out!

Good. The place was a bit small. It was difficult to get a table for 5. The food was good. Both sushi and the kitchen food.

Chicken Yakitori on skewers

A great little spot in downtown Fredericksburg - I was recommended Osan after getting a sandwich at "The Worst Deli" in a different part of Fredericksburg. I heard they split off and started their own place at a sushi joint, so we decided to take a look! The restaurant is small, but not in a bad way. It's a cozy feeling and it has a good ambiance to it. We were seated immediately and surprised by all of the options. The bar seems like the best seat in the house where you get to watch the sushi being made, however we opted for a table. We started with the Chicken Yakitori which was stellar and I would love a whole entree of just this chicken, that's how good it was! My husband is not a sushi eater, so he always goes for Chicken Katsu. He enjoyed his entree, miso, but was a little taken back by the salad included. This was mainly because we're used to the familiar ginger-carrot dressing that is usually included at sushi restaurants. He said it tested a lot more peppery and more like mayo than he was used to. Nonetheless, he still cleared that bowl! I ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll which was delicious, albeit a bit small in the portion sizing than I'm used to for the price. I also ordered the Jaeyook Bokkeum, which is a Korean spicy marinated pork. I was happy to see more Korean food on the menu and wasn't expecting that. I was told it was about comparable in spice to a medium wing. As someone who moved here from Buffalo, NY, I would say it's a little bit less than a true medium. Enough to make your lips feel a bit warm, but the flavors were great. I would get more in a heartbeat if my stomach could fit all the meat on the plate they serve it on. It also comes with a side of rice if you needed something to help cool your mouth down if you like spice but aren't quite equipped to handle it. I always love to see what people order here while eating and it is overwhelmingly the bento boxes. Because this was already such a fantastic outing, I think that will be on the docket for the next visit!

Located in the historic walks of Fredicsburg, Osan is a nice option quite different from the old Virginia Fair. The sushi is fresh, and the menu has many combinations so that you can try a litlle of everything. Oh, every table was taken, so you may have to wait a few minutes. Clear standouts included: Hamoro Salmon Nigiri - Order two for a pair. Thick, marbled and slightly seasoned. For sure the dish of the night. Tuna Tataki - Lightly seared Tuna dusted with cilantro and touch of lemon and soy. Bimbimbap - Comforting Korean style mix mix veggie and meats. You'll have left over for lunch. Bentos forever! - All kinds of Bentos that would be perfect for one person, but if like to over order, find a combo with the hand rolls and sushi and have a feast for two. Splitting hairs - They did not have any of the Toro/Blue fin dishes available. Not so great - The Miso soup was luke warm. Outside temperature was below 40 so this was a bummer :( Solid offering, and perfect if you've already had your fill of colonial food in Historic Fredricksburg.

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had in my entire life! On top of that, we were greeted with warmth and friendliness which made us appreciate our dining experience even more. I can't recommend it highly enough!

I've been here twice for lunch and it's one of my favorite spots when I'm in town. The portions are good for the price and the food is delicious. I get the bento box, adding miso soup and a sushi roll. The service is great too and it's a cute little restaurant.

Tried to order three different beers, and every one of them was "not available today," which is restaurant talk for "the truck's late and so are we." Artie the bartender just gave this little shoulder shrug that said, "Partner, I don't make the rules, I just open the bottles." The place itself helped the afternoon along. The building is laid out so you can see just about everything from your stool: bar, tables, who's coming in the door, and whether your food is on its way. Sightlines were wide open, nothing cluttered or cramped, and the whole joint looked super clean, like somebody actually cares what it looks like before the crowd shows up. So we did what any sensible, thirsty people would do: picked two other beers, ordered some apps, and decided not to take life--or the tap list--too seriously. The beer we got was cold, the food was hot, and Artie turned out to be the kind of bartender you come back to see more than you come back for the menu. We'll be back, too. Lewis would've gotten a whole column out of that shrug. The food was excellent, too. The fish bites alone just about made the afternoon; if the beer list had completely fallen apart, we still would've called it a win on those.

For dinner on our first night, we opted to give Brocks Riverside Grill a try and we were not disappointed. Our waitress, Mckewen, was super friendly and helpful with both ordering selections when both of us have Shellfish allergies and later pairing our entrees with wines. For starters, we ordered drinks. My wife ordered a glass of Chardonnay and I ordered a Spicy Margarita. We shared an appetizer of Crispy Brussel Sprouts and bread rolls that came with a delicious oil and garlic dipping sauce. The main dining area was sparsely attended by other dinner patrons, with large windows to one side overlooking the river. For entrees, my wife selected the Roasted Beet Poke Bowl which she described as "light and refreshing" and I ordered the 16-oz Marinated Ribeye, cooked to Medium along with sides of mixed Seasonal Vegetables (sliced Zucchini & Squash) and Redskins Mashed potatoes with an order of mushrooms to go on top of the steak. I also ordered a nice glass of Merlot wine to go with it. The portions were generous, and the entrees perfectly prepared, and very tasty. If there was any fault at all, it was that the ribeye was a little too laden with a ring of fat rather than simply marbled, but otherwise no complaints. For dessert, I ordered a slice of Key Lime Pie and my wife ordered Crème Brûlée. Both were appealing to the eye and each bite beckoned us to take another bite. It is certainly someplace we would go to again.

We sat in the section that was open to the outdoor elements and got a seat right by the wall overlooking the river. Quick to get seated and host was very nice. We had a wonderful waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly and it all tasted good. The spinach and crab dip was a bit salty for the pita but the dip was good. We both got a salmon salad and it was a nice large portion that was full of flavor. Would definitely stop back. Might need to get the fried chicken sandwich next time!

Fantastic! A "must try" and one we'll visit often…read more We're in the process of moving to Fburg and decided to have a nice dinner. I looked through Yelp and picked F132 as our first meal in the new town. Great choice! We didn't have a reservation, and it was Friday at 6pm, so we were placed on the bar seating wait list. We were seated in 20-25 minutes, which was super fast and great with us. Lesson learned for next time, make a reservation. But, if you choose or wind up at the bar, the service is great and seating is comfortable. The bartender was with us quickly and walked us through the Happy Hour specials. Drinks, apps, etc. they had a good variety of things in HH and many seemed interesting. But we were there for steak, so we let him know and he took our orders. In the meantime, he got us waters and bread service. While we waited, we watched the bar staff make some amazing concoctions including smoked old fashioneds, and all manner of flavors, textures, and mixtures. I don't really do cocktails but there were egg whites, chocolate sauce, fruits, mints and great presentations. They also were serving HH food and the Happy Dog looked filling: the truffle fries were served in what looked like multi-pound platters. I had the filet with French onion soup and corn salad. My wife had filet with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. The bartender explained sides change frequently and are selected by what is available farm fresh. The corn salad was a sort of chilled street corn with some peppers and stuff. Very good and the corn was so fresh. French onion soup was delish! Absolutely perfect. Black eyed peas were great. I didn't try the mashed potatoes. The steak was the star. I don't know what's in their house rub, but it's perfect. And the steaks are cooked under an 1800 degree broiler so they get that perfect sear. Both were cooked at the perfect temperature. And the meat was trimmed so there was nothing but butter-tender beef. Let me be clear-THIS IS THE BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD! The service was perfect. My glass never fell below 2/3 full, and we never were waiting on service, but it was non intrusive and really made the experience so much better. A++! Wherever you are reading this, stop what you are doing, and RUN, don't walk to Fahrenheit 132. You'll thank me later.

Yes, there are "trendy" restaurants downtown with a larger and rotating, seasonal, or farm-to-table menu. But Olde Towne Steak & Seafood is wonderful. The steak is always cooked to perfection, the shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail are ENORMOUS, the stuffed mushrooms are (chef's kiss), their cocktails (especially dirty martinis) are wonderful, and their prime rib is as big as an infant's head. The interior could use a bit of an upgrade. I went there for my Senior prom in 1990 and although it is still cozy and inviting -especially fireside-the clean, classic decor could use a bit of a perking up. No minor issues like decor can obscure the wonderful service! A LOT of servers in this area consider waiting tables just a job to be done and gotten over with and customers a nuisance. Whether they truly feel it or not, the staff here present themselves as practicing their vocation. But none of this compares to the warmth and personal attention of Mrs. Hyon Harding, the owner. Mrs. Hyon always greets you like you are a welcome guest - not a dollar sign. She takes the time during each visit to personally visit each table to make sure everything is to your satisfaction and you are happy. And it is not just some token "drive by." You can tell she really does care and wants you to have a good experience. All of this beats truffle fries and Mac and cheese, rosemary mashed potatoes, and "locally foraged mushrooms" in my book and always will.

Went on a Sunday night and there maybe 5 other tables occupied, each had over 5 patrons and we had a table near the main fireplace. The atmosphere was as expected no change over the years. Room temperature was great, a bit cool for my wife but that is normal. Our sever (Callie was exceptional and very responsive to our requests) came to the table promptly and took our drink order. Water and tea, no alcohol. Delivered quickly. We also got bread, not warm and very unimpressive. Orders were placed we recovered our salads with dressing on them and I had requested it on the side, not a big issue butt the meal proceeds to go down hill rapidly from there. My salad tasted like it had been sitting out for a while (wet wilted and soggy) and the only flavor it had was the fresh cracked pepper. I honestly expected more from the salad then iceberg lettuce, 2cherry tomatoes and a couple of cucumber slices. Blue cheese dressing was only identifiable because it was what I requested. Prime rib was over cooked but the portion was as ordered. Bake potato was dry and very overdone, 3 servings of sour cream to make it editable. My wife's seafood was equally tasteless, the lobster was great but the scallops tasted funny". Had more bread during the meal cold and tasteless. The best part of the meal by far wast he dessert, chocolate cake with whipped cream and strawberries, plated beautifully. Overall a 2.0 for the meal quality was mediocre at best, desert and service would rate a 4.5 (Callie was a 5.0 as a server). And the owner manager did not come by our table but did visit all the other tables. On the way out she said how was your meal I said very underwhelming and she just glared at me. I didn't complain to keep our 36th wedding anniversary fun, but after getting in the car and driving off my wife stated that wasn't worth it we will find a new anniversary place. In my opinion we could have eaten at a big box steakhouse (T/R) 5 times and higher quality for the ($150) price.
