I recently purchased 5 yards of stone from Osborne and told them I wanted it dropped at the end of my driveway. Unfortunately, the driver misunderstood the instructions and dumped the stone in the middle of my driveway blocking one of the garage doors. I contacted the manager at Osborne and he said the driver followed protocol. He offered no help or credit. So it took me about 3 hrs that night to shovel enough stone to get my car out of the garage. Suggestion: If you order material from Osborne, I suggest you buy a can of neon orange spray paint and paint a big X where you want the material dropped so there is no room for a misunderstanding. read more

I am posting this in the hope that it will help someone else avoid getting ripped off by Osborne Nursery in Plainville, MA as they totally misrepresent what they are selling. I needed to overseed several areas of my lawn so I ordered several yards of what was advertised on the Osborne Nursery website as screened loam. However, I am not exaggerating in the least when I state that what they delivered was the furthest thing from loam that I have ever seen, and it was completely unusable for growing grass. Even people who do not work in the nursery business know that loam is distinguished by its mix of organic matter, sand, and clay which make for a very fertile soil with qualities that are very beneficial for growing plants and grass - those qualities include its ability to retain water and nutrients as well as the ability to allow water to flow freely, preventing erosion and other damaging issues which may result from over-watering or bad weather. What Osborne Nursery is passing off as loam is the poorest quality dirt - so dense that it is hard to get a shovel into, and it is also loaded with small stones as though it might have come from a gravel pit. I tried raking out the stones from some of it to see if it might then be usable (what an ordeal) but it was so dense and infertile tht nothing would grow in it except weeds. It is simply appalling and completely unethical that they are selling that stuff as "loam", and I am sure that it cost them next to nothing for this stuff. As I cannot use it on my lawn or for anything else, I am just going to haul it into the woods behind my house and dump it. What a scam. read more

A few years ago we spread 10 yards of TERMITE INFESTED mulch around our home. Upon inspecting it, OSBOURNE took the charge from our credit card, however OSBOURNE refused to pay to treat the termites. We have now spent about $1,000 trying to treat the termites and they are still thriving. I live in fear that my house will be damaged and my well water contaminated. It causes tension in my household, my friends won't trade plants with me anymore, and finding termites among flower beds takes the fun out of gardening. I don't know how a business person can sleep knowing the destruction they have caused in order to gain profit. read more

I purchased materials to build a retaining wall through this nursery because where I usually went was closed and I really wanted to start the project. The total purchase price was somewhere around $800.00. The gentleman who helped me seemed friendly enough. I gave him the measurements of my project and we went over what I would need. I asked if there would be any problems returning any unused product and he said "not a problem". The product arrived and some of the bricks were chipped and or cracked. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it because I knew I would be doing some cuts and they could be used. The next day I received a 10% off coupon from Osbourne in the mail. I wasn't going to ask them to honor it because I felt the transaction was already complete. After the project I had a few bricks and caps left over. I put half of them in my wife's mini van ( they're very heavy ) and went to Osbourne to turn them in. The dollar value was somewhere around $85.00. When I arrived i told the young man behind the desk what I had. He didn't have time to say anything because the man ( Eric the owner ) in the rear of the shop said in a confrontainal tone " you know there's a 25% restocking fee on those". I told him I was not aware of that and told him about the conversation I had when I made the purchase. After some back and forth I thought he was going to honor that. He told me where to put the product and one of his guys helped me unload. I then returned home and loaded the rest of the product in the van. When I returned I put the rest of the product in the yard with the help of the same guy. I then started to drive to the office and as I was doing this I noticed Eric driving towards me in a golf cart. When we met he said here's your gift card, and I did you a favor by not charging you the 25% restocking fee. I told him this is not what I expected. I reminded him of what his employee told me when I made my purchase. Eric said " He shouldn't have said that" ( well he did and you should honor what your employee tells a customer ). After a little more back and forth ( neither of us were getting loud etc ) , he snatched the gift card from my hand and said " now I'm charging you the 25% restocking fee". In Eric's defense, the receipt did say gift cards would be given on all returns. The sign that had all this information is located in the office. I never saw the sign due to the fact it is placed on the wall to the left of where all transactions are completed. In my opinion Eric let this situation get out of control. We were not talking about a lot of money. In fact the 10% coupon in the mail would have covered it ( and he gets the product back ). I would have thought he would look at this as a "win" for his business. I have been in this area for over 15 years. During this time I have made many purchases with the company I usually purchase from and never had an issue. I learned my lesson. I should have waited until Monday and used the company I was familiar with and liked.. read more

Very disappointed in their service. We have always bought our 15 yards of mulch from Osborne, along with purchasing in previous years pavers for our patio and front walk way and blocks for 2 retaining walls. This year, they were short at least 4-5 yards as we ran out of mulch with only 2/3 of our annual project completed. When we called to inquire, they stated there was nothing they could do about it, nor would they waive the second delivery fee for the additional 5 yards we purchased. Not too mention that now we had to rearrange our schedules to complete our project during the week, hey my time is money too! Will not be going back there again. They lost what was a loyal customer. read more

Have used this nursery for mulch delivery. I would not recommend them if you have other options. Did not honor a coupon I received the same day of delivery. Hard to do business in a local community when you don't accommodate reasonable requests from a recurring customer....I will be going elsewhere...you should as well. read more

Rented a dumpster from Osborne and, long story short, every part of the process was excellent. They had a great price and their communication and flexibility were unbelievable. I asked to keep the dumpster for a few days extra over a weekend, and they said it wasn't a problem at all. Run like a family company, and I'll definitely be going to them for more material and work. read more

I know fall is the best time for planting. I have been doing my research but was still unclear what to purchase. The big chain stores DON:T HELP! I stopped into Osborne Nursery & Landscape and walked into their nursery section. They have a full time plant specialist (Linda) and she was FANTASTIC! She knew every plant in the nursery and when I described the location I was planting in and the colors I wanted she knew exactly what to recommend. I was in and out within an hour and home planting!! My flower garden looks beautiful. I would highly recommend Osborne Nursery and will definitely use them from now on. All the staff was pleasant and helpful and I got to enjoy a cold ice cream after too! read more

DO NOT use this nursery. We purchased several yards of loam from them 2 weeks ago, for delivery. While dumping the loam on our property, their incompetent driver drove over the curb and broke our sidewalk. He then proceeded to spin his dump truck wheels on our front lawn, in an attempt to back the truck further onto our property...after it had rained for 4 days...Awesome! Needless to say, the lawn was destroyed and we now have the pleasure of dealing with the town to get our sidewalks fixed. When I confronted the driver, he gave me the "well you signed the piece of paper" attitude and appeared completely unconcerned about the mess he had just created. Several phone calls, pictures and emails to the sales manager later...we're screwed. They refuse to credit us a penny, but will buy us an ice cream at their ice cream stand. Gee, thanks! You just caused me hours of additional, aggrivating work and I get a scoop of vanilla! Additionally, the loam they delivered was like thick, wet, heavy clay...so it took several of us days and days and days to spread and dry out before we could even THINK about seeding over it. Poor, poor customer service and poor product. Stay away. read more

So originally I thought this place was not bad. But... I showed up on a Friday to look at Stone customer service pointed me in the right direction. I found the stone I wanted to purchase. I asked the employees if I need to pre order or if I could just show up the next day with my F-150 and pick it up. the gentleman told me I could show up whenever and pick it up.I showed up the next day to pick up a half yard of stone. I was then told I could order a half yard but I was going to be charged for a full yard. I stated that my tuck could only fit a half yard but that I was going to be getting a full yard. I was then told that if I was to get a half yard at a time I was going to be charged for 2 yards. All local companies around here had no problem with my request . This one just happened to be the closest. So if your a home owner looking to get a little work done using your truck you might want to look elsewhere. read more

On 4-26-16, I called Osborne Nursery to get information about purchasing mulch. I called and specifically told the woman that I had a coupon on my desk at home and what was available to use for mulch. She informed me that there were two mailings that were sent out, but that only if I purchased 4 yards could I receive one yard free. She never said that there were other coupons included, which involved money back depending on the amount spent. She also never told me that in order to use the coupons, it must be presented at the time of purchase. Then when I went to purchase the mulch and spent 45 minutes discussing whether I needed 1 1/2 yards or 2 yards, she never said that I could have used a coupon and I would then have purchased the 2 yards. I then on May 1, 2016, was cleaning my desk and found the coupon, which I could have used. I would have bought the 2 yards, saved time and saved money. I called on May 1st and was told I had to call and speak to Heather on Monday, regarding the coupon. I was told she knew all about the coupons and was in charge of the coupons. She was the woman, that I not only spoke to on the phone, but she also waited on me as well. This woman who is in charge of the coupons, obviously didn't want me to actually use the coupons. I have a friend in business in the area and he is well aware of what coupons he offers. So obviously the woman who "is in charge of the coupons", doesn't actually want customers to use them. I then called back on Monday. I was told that Heather was out sick and the owner was on vacation. I was told that she would check with Heather and get back to me. Later on I was told, that there was nothing they could do for me, since it was the company policy that the coupon must be presented at the time of purchase. How could I present a coupon, when I was kept in the dark that there was a coupon that I could use. I asked to speak to the owner and was told, "he stands by the Heather's policy." I was told he was on vacation and was unavailable, apparently this wasn't true. I then called to speak to a manager, since it appears that Osborne is a company name, not just landscaping. The phone was answered by the store, so that was a dead-end. I informed Rick that if I didn't receive satisfaction, then I would write a review. Apparently, Osborne doesn't care about his customers. I have been buying mulch and flowers for years. Now I will never purchase anything again from Osborne and having lived in the area for 30 years, I will tell all my friends and neighbors of the shabby and deceitful treatment I received. read more
