WTF Sudbury!! what a big disappointment. We went out for a nice dinner and saw this very appealing place called Oscar's and we thought we'd try it. we were directed towards a table and were served by Anthony who was very nice. He assisted us with a good choice of wine. We ordered our foods and got our soup in due time. It was good. Then we waited and waited and waited. We inquired about the main course and 1.5 hours later they had not started on "fish and chips and Caesar salad"?? People that arrive after us had food served. We cancelled the main course and the manager was not very accommodating nor sympathetic towards our situation. We paid and left. I cannot recommend the food as we never got it, but the service needs adjustment. Good luck... businesses like this don't last very long. it's too bad as Sudbury really needs to up their eatery establishment. read more

We chose this place because the night before we walked by and the front wall was wide open. The music and atmosphere were lively and fun. The general feeling was really cool. But we had just eaten next door. So here we are ready to people watch and enjoy the music. But no. The 'windows ' were closed. The ambiance was subdued. We inquired about the difference and was given a snarky response about the heat and humidity and that maybe later they would open things up. Food*****The El Diablo.... (Dang it!) EL FUEGO.. got mixed reviews at our table. Two of our party ordered it, and one inhaled it, while the other was disappointed that 'jalapeño bacon' wasn't the same as 'jalapeño AND bacon'. I made the same mistake while reading the menu. My husband ordered the ribs, and couldn't stop going on about how good the slaw was. So much more than cabbage, if you have never tried it you should give it a go. I had the Santa Fe salad. With descriptions like 'roasted ' and 'grilled ' I expected a warm dish with the flavor profiles of SoCal-Tex-Mex. I was surprised when I was served a ice cold chilled dish that consisted mostly of quinoa tossed in a very sweet vinaigrette. (****edit: looks like they changed the name and description of this menu item. Eliminating any confusion) No worries. My lunch the next day was left over Santa Fe with added corn, chickpeas, more cilantro and fresh lemon juice. (There are no leftovers). stopped in tonight for dinner. Bar menu is just wine/beer no cocktails, or at least we did not get one. Our booth table consisted of two tables pushed together and one was unbalanced. Decor is minimal and feels like a pop up restaurant. Don't sit in the back, it is a black/dark cave. Staff was very good and attentive. Pasta primivera was very good, large portion. I had the rib special and the ribs were good, not great. A huge plate of fries that must of had a double dose of seasoning salt. Inedible! Waiter immediately took them away and brought a new batch of fries, but I was almost finished my meal. I guess the chef forgot to taste the fries before putting out onto plate. read more

after arriving at Oscar's, for our reservation of 18, the serving staff completely ignored our entire group. It was 21 minutes before water was brought to table and 33 minutes before drinks were ordered. An additional 16 until drinks were served, all the while patrons who arrived after us were served drinks and food. All of us were made to feel invisible and servers were unorganized and unpleasant. Good thing the pianist was friendly and welcoming. Our group from town and 2 other cities, will NEVER frequent this establishment again and would not recommend to others. read more

This is my second time here, feel bad having the same thing. I just love their blue cheese burger, very high quality and will have you dreaming of your next visit. Wine list was good not amazing. Dinner this evening was tasty and a favourable experience. Had the Greek Salad which was large enough to share and was piled with fresh veggies even though the vinaigrette was a little sweet. The Grill Platter is a great combo so you can have a little of everything. Good selection of gluten green options. Great, friendly service as well! read more

First time here tonight. The food was delicious. All three of us in our party had the filet - all cooked to different doneness and done perfectly. Accompaniments were well portioned and seasoned. Had a bottle of wine for the table, great price for an excellent bottle. Ended with the cajun-spiced pecan pie. Absolutely wonderful. Most desserts are made in house; great feature. Given the quality of the food I'm surprised there weren't more people there on a Saturday night. Atmosphere at the front of the house was highly appealing. The large windows and bar-height tables were very tasteful. At the back of the house (dining room) there was definitely room for improvement. The pot lights were bright and the floors were old. You could tell it was a converted commercial space. The great food and live music make this place a must visit, just ask to be sat at the front of the house for the best experience ! read more

This poor restaurant space. That open cavern in the back is just awful and the floors are very unappetizing. I confirmed for myself again how much I hate eating in that space. Now, as for the food my wife and I had an okay experience hence the 3 stars. We each had a burger (Oscar for me and Mexican for her). And she had the pecan pie for dessert while I had the brule split. Hamburgers were very good. Fresh-ground and you can taste it. Nice condiments and the burgers weren't too big which was nice. Only con on these was that the server asked how we wanted our burgers done and then the kitchen didn't deliver. We both got well-done burgers. That was frustrating. I think the burger was actually too small to get a doneness but the kitchen and wait staff should know these details. Dessert was excellent. Really, really good. The thing that got me was the beer selection. Bud? Coors? Is this a joke? Have it for the dinosaurs that still drink it but keep it in a bottle. Please get some better beers on tap. Stella and Shock Top don't count. In this day and age there is no excuse for not having Ontario beers available. Especially at the price points you set. If you want to open a resto in the Valley or New Sudbury then sure...have Canadian and Blue on tap. But not downtown please. The standards are just too high now and I refuse to go back to drinking dishwater. read more

I have rarely been so disappointed in a restaurant. The decor was lovely and the menu looked appealing so I decided to splurge and buy myself a steak. After delivering it the waitress did not stop to ask how it was until I had finally pushed it away over half an hour later. I told her it was chewy, difficult to cut and tasteless. She told me she would inform the kitchen. I waited another 20 minutes for the bill and all I was told was "The kitchen is super sorry". The sorry was not reflected in any tangible way so I paid without tip and walked out. I will say that the roasted vegetables were delicious and I ended up making my meal out of them. Still the worst $38 dollars I have ever spent. read more
