The Good: Food had great taste. Food quality was really good actually. Everyone was full at the end of it. Our server had a great memory and remembered a lot on what we ordered without writing it down. The Bad: Oh boy. We got to the restaurant at 4:15pm with a table of 8. While there was a lot of seating available we still waited 20 minutes to be seated. Restaurant wasnt busy yet either (couldn't do a reservation either after 4 according to them when we called). Arrived and had two new young front service people greet us. They were obviously in training because someone who I assumed was the manager had to tell them to seat us and get cutlery. After being seated, we quickly got our drinks ordered but they took forever to get to us. We ordered everything at once (food and drinks) and we waited over an hour to get our food delivered to the table. We had 4 kids with us and they were hungry and bored so waiting an hour was an eternity for them. Finally food arrived and one meal we ordered came with the wrong pasta. The menu said Viel Parmesan came with Penne but Spaghetti was delivered instead. When we questioned why the meal wasn't what matched the menu we got a "the menu is wrong". They DID correct it but was kind of a shock to be told that as an acceptable answer. Finally after we were all done and asked for the cheque, again we were left waiting. Close to 30 minutes to pay and leave. The table next to us said they also were waiting a long time to leave the restaurant and complained about the delays. We had to get up and find a manager in order to give them money for the food we consumed. Overall this is not the experience I expected from this establishment. The server apologized and told me that all the senior staff took this weekend off and left trainees and new people. Management never made any rounds, never saw them trying to assist with the orders and instead stood and just "watched". Won't be back for a while personally. Total time in the restaurant was 2 hours. Tell me the last time you entered a half empty restaurant and waited two hours to eat and pay. read more

Took my 6 year old daughter for a daddy daughter date. Salad was gritty like there was dirt in it. No big deal bread is good and pasta is decent. Well a few hours latter I got the runs and my poor daughters stomach hurt and she started puking. We both got sick and the only thing that it could have been was the food. I don't normally post things like this... but I am livid. I called East Side Mario's on LaSalle @705-670-0900 (a favourite restaurant I'm sure I spend about $1,000 per year) for pick up and the phone prompt tells customer to "press 1" for pick up. So I did. I had no idea this was a centre nor was I informed of this. I placed my $75 order and was told my options for pick up were immediately or 45 minutes. They processed my credit card payment. I called the restaurant 20 minutes later and they didn't even have the order yet. So I called the call centre back and told him to change the pick up time to immediate otherwise it wouldn't be ready for 4:45. The call centre rep didn't tell me changing the pick up time meant he had to reverse my credit card payment (which takes days to show up on my statement) and now I would have to pay again. I asked to speak to a call centre manager and was put on hold. I called the restaurant and spoke with Manager Jennifer then Jerry who refused to accept any responsibility for the call centre (he referred to them as Head Office) errors. It was 4:40 and they still didn't have the order. They suggested it was my fault numerous times because I should have just called the restaurant, that the call centre isn't reliable. I thought I was speaking to East Side Mario's on LaSalle because that's the number I called. Despite changing the pick up time to immediate, the order was 15 minutes late. When my son tried to give them my credit card number they wouldn't accept it. (They can accept it verbally over the phone but not in person???) I TOLD HIM TO JUST LEAVE but he didn't. So he had to pay the $75 out of pocket. I suggested to Manager Jerry on LaSalle that it isn't appropriate to have a phone prompt telling customer what option to select then tell them it was their mistake for following the instructions. Jerry and Jennifer accepted that these were unacceptable errors. When I suggested to Jerry they might offer me a discount as compensation for all the errors and delays he refused saying it was the call centres (HEAD OFFICE) fault, not the restaurant. I said it was East Side Mario's fault and they should be fighting with each other internally not the customer. Jerry said he didn't care if I gave his restaurant a bad review online. So readers, do not order for pick up from East Side Mario's. As a customer, they will never have my business again. read more

I love East Sides! It's such a staple restaurant here. Great for family events, dates, a night out with the friends, etc. They have a bar section for anyone who wants to drink and watch whatever game they have playing. There are plenty of nice flatscreens all around the restaurant. Kids menus are available as well as gluten friendly menus. If you and a group of people are looking for a nice place to eat that isn't too expensive, then you've found it. I love that they are constantly bringing your table free garlic bread and depending on what you order, they often bring endless salads for the table as well. It's always nice to have some food that is unlimited because it can make you feel like you're getting your money's worth. The food is always great and there's always something to do during the wait, whether it's watch the tvs or use their free wifi. My only complaint is that they have no vegan options. read more

Maybe it was an off night, but everything about our visit was quite meh. There were 6 of us, and though I realize it takes time to prepare that many dishes, we were certainly all ready to leave rather than wait any longer. Just then, the food showed up. Most looked good, but several of us were disappointed in the portion sizes for sure. I got the Ultimate Italian Grilled Cheese and was HUGELY disappointed, especially for $16, which is way too much for what you get. The flatbread was a bit crispy on the outside, which is good, but feels almost raw inside. There's not much filling inside either. Quite a small portion of fries, too. I wasn't crazy about going there in the first place, and this visit didn't entice me to return. I will say, though, that the Mario's pizza spice is GREAT and they let a friend buy a jar for 5 bucks. The food is good. The location is nice (better than Algonquin). However, the service is SLOW. Went on a Sunday for lunch, wasn't too busy and no crazy orders and it took an hour. Thought perhaps it was a fluke and ended up going two more times, all at lunch on different days of the week and every time SO SLOW. Not a big deal on the weekend but we went on a lunch break for work to have the "Mario in minutes" special... I guess they don't specify how many minutes... read more

Not impressed with the management. Floors are very dirty, restrooms always seem to be plugged, and everything is extra on the bill. It's often where there are added charges that you're just not aware about and nothing gets done about it. Can't go wrong with the cheese cappelletti though! read more

Went to east side Mario's on Lasalle for lunch on labour day, was not busy but waited for at least 20 min to get our drinks, ordered our meals got salad and the lettuce was dirty and wilted, had to swat at flies during our whole meal, luckily one of them died in my friend's drink however she still had to pay for it. The flies in the bathroom were twice as bad. This was my second chance at this location and will not go back service is slow, food is eh not bad just don't get the salad, and you have to swat at flies. read more

One of the very worst restaurant experiences We have ever had. And it's sad too because the food is usually good at other locations. When we entered we waited almost 15 min to be seated. The place was nearly empty. He were placed at a table at the far side the bar and neglected for another 20 min. After that the bus boy asked us to move to another table and places us directly behind a cramped server station. When we requested a more appropriate table we were refused. We tried to contact a manager. No one has called back. We also contacted corporate who assured a manager would contact us but it's been over a week and still nothing . We will no longer support this franchise and encourage others to do the same. read more

My son took me there for Mother's Day and everything was delicious. The service was excellent. Getting our entrees took a little longer than usual but the wait staff offered a discount or free dessert as comp. We didn't even complain. We ordered the sausage and pepper penne and if you have trouble with spices....beware....it was hot. They were also collecting for the Alberta fire victims, which I thought was great! Went there for lunch, service was horrible and slow. What's the point of having 'all you can eat salad or soup' if you never see your waiter? They charge $14 for a salad with chicken that took 45 min to come to the table and the lettuce was wilted. So what exactly was I paying for? Not the service, and not the quality of the food.
