Exceeded all my expectations and then some! I brought both my boys for a haircut. My youngest is 2 and does NOT like getting his haircut. Everywhere else I've taken him, he cried and screamed and we had to walk out. Alberto was SUPER patient and met us where we were and was able to show my son that haircuts are not scary and gave him a superb haircut. I was truly shocked that we got through a haircut without any tears and he looks fabulous! My 4 year old has never looked better after his cut as well. Alberto is a gem! I personally saw Oscar (the Owner) from age 6 all the way to my early 20's. He cut my Dad's hair as well and for a long time he was my go-to for anything only a Barber could do. Unfortunately after returning from school out of state, he had changed. I came in tatted and pierced up because I'm an artist and was looking into school for tattoo and piercings and had plenty myself. The first thing he said wasn't "Hey man, long time no see!", it was "What the hell did you do to your face?". I explained that this was who I am now and it falls into my art, but he just judged me for how I looked. No mater what I said, he shamed me for it and told me to take that junk out of my face, then instead of seating me, handed me off to a rookie, still in training (which I didn't know at the time). She ruined my hair wile Oscar watched smiling and she even was shocked when I went to pay tearing up. She asked "Are you sure it's ok?", but I just wanted to leave so I payed and left. After that I never returned. I warned my parents and had my Dad stop wasting his money here. The environment went from splendid to toxic just like that, and I didn't want anyone I cared about to receive the same treatment I did. Wish I could give this place 0 Stars because it's worth none! Pretty poor service. I didn't stay for a hair cut since I was unsure of the service I would receive based on my initial greeting. The stylist felt like I was wasting their time: she basically had her coat on and keys in hand waiting to leave. I encourage all to look elsewhere. I was ensured by the owner that I should try and come back for excellent service, citing, "we treat you like family". If the owner had been there, this probably wouldn't have happened. Been coming for years; yes, even before It was named Oscars -- was named Philip and Anthonys. I believe one of the owners died and Oscar absorbed the whole business. Even after they modernized the business, you still will get a good haircut for a reasonable price. Yes, it's pricier than most, but you're paying for quality. Men's haircuts are twenty-five dollars and I think shampoo services come with it. Usually a game or two is on. read more

Please avoid this Saloon !!!! I was there last week to promote our local small business but the service was nightmare. Though they try to be nice but the hair cutter was in weed or unexperienced , not sure coz he even donot know how to hold the scissors. Though i ask for other team for help but nothing much and they charge me 35 bucks and later i have to buy new cap costing 18$ to hide my hair. So I was in the area and decided to stop in to Oscar's hair salon for a quick haircut. My hair has always been difficult to style due to the Dennis the Menace cowlick that I have. But at this point my hair had looked more like a mop than an actual haircut. Connie came to the front desk and took me right away. Connie talked me into to doing a style verse my normal buzz cut. What a good idea for me to take Connie and Oscars advice. I don't think I've been this pleased with a haircut in a very long time. High five guys!!! Alicia cut my hair and was great. I went in after not getting a hair cut in 2 years. I donated 9 inches and had little to work with but I love the cut Alicia gave me. It's a layered bob, which is what I was hoping for. My husband loves the haircut Sue gives him. Sue explained to my husband that he should part his hair the other side and it magically looks better! Oscar's is the place to come in the North Shore for haircuts. The facility is clean and gives off a very friendly and inviting vibe. This is also true for Oscar himself. He is quite personable and you may wonder why he owns a hair salon instead of being a talk show host. Until he starts cutting your hair. Oscar asks what the customer wants and makes it happen. Perfectly. Every time. I could delve into details for days, but it comes down to this: You can't put a price on looking good. For the extra ~$7 vs crappy commercial hair salons that are ALWAYS hit or miss (usually miss IME), it's a no brainer. I went to oscars hair salon yesterday, one of my moms friends recommended Alicia. So I went to her to get a hair cut and add some blonde in my hair. I don't trust anyone to cut my hair besides a guy that cuts my hair in Mexico. So I was scared for the outcome of my hair, especially because I was gonna get a lot of my hair cut off. I'm loving the outcome of my hair! I got so many compliments from my friends, I would recommend Alicia to a lot of people. Tell her what you want and she'll make you love your new hair! Found a jem place today. This place is absolutely amazing where all staffs are incredibly welcoming. I went in for a dye from a dark to a lighter brown with ash highlights done by Alicia. Daniel B, you must not know what you are talking about. Maybe you are mistaking oscars for the "super cuts" that you previously visited? Anyone that knows Oscar and ALL of the staff that work there, knows that they are VERY FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL! The same people (for the most part) have been working there many years and have built trusting relationships with their clients, and some of the clients that first started going there as children, now bring their children. Oscars will be there a long time because of their friendly and easy going attitudes. If you were that disappointed with your haircut, I'm sure if you called and talked to Oscar or Connie you would've been reimbursed for your services because that's how they treat their clients. Wouldn't go anywhere else! I've been going to this salon since 1990 and will be very unhappy if things change. I have hard to cut hair, many cowlicks, and Oscar is the best! Time after time my haircuts are consistent and perfectly cut. Oscar is also a very personable stylist, listening to every concern and request.
