This company has many independent subcontractors with different skill levels. They sent an inexperienced worker to find the source of a leak and fix the problem. He couldn't get the job done and suggested to replace the whole vanity. The company raised the estimate. In desperation I agreed to pay $250 but insisted on a different plumber who did the job very easily. As a result, I had to pay $250 extra and buy new faucets that cost $300 more. The inexperienced plumber cost me $550 altogether. My calls for at some reimbursement was not returned. read more

Do not call! This was the worst plumbing experience that I have ever had. We called for what I thought was a simple hot water install. It turned into waiting for 2 full days and 2 night appointments to get it working well. There was also a morning where no one even bothered to show up. We paid a lot of money and I can't see the pilot light as the water heater was installed askew as it faces the shed. I called and talked to who I thought was a manger to express my concerns. There was no discussion of fixing the install, but he said he would give us some money back. We have the email that even states the amount that we would get back. In 4 months and several emails, I found out that promise was a lie. Sometimes things are not done well and I feel like I am a responsible and obviously patient person. I am very disappointed with being lied to. I am still surprised that a company like this does not stand behind their work or even what they tell customers. Thank God for Leo and Oscars Plumbing. We were in a jam for over 4 days. We initially thought our septic tank and cess pool were full and needed to be pumped out. Once that was accomplished, same problem - kitchen and utility room (clothes washer) were backed up. They were extremely OVER PRICED plus I was talked into getting more than I wanted or needed. By researching, unfortunately after the fact, I discovered the actual cost of the equipment from the same manufacturer and exact same model of the gas water heater. The equipment was probably purchased at a well known plumbing supply store in the area (not a big box store) and the cost of the heater and all the assembly parts is priced at $900. Although my bill was not broken down by material and labor although I did ask for that breakdown - twice, it looks like I was charged $1,800 for the equipment alone which is 100% mark up (labor is a separate charge). I've since learned from many sources that the mark up to the customer is usually 20%. Labor of course was separate and I was charged an additional $1,000 for the approximate 3 hour installation. Total charge was $2,800. According to Google, the cost in my area should have been in the range of $1,400 to $2,100. BUYER BEWARE! read more

This company came to my home now for two drain repairs. The technicians were friendly, competent and honest. I had another company with high Yelp ratings tell me that the drain needed to be jet cleaned when this was done just a year or two earlier. He said that if he used a rooter it could break the pipe. Second time using Oscar's Plumbing and Rooter Service where I work and really pleased! Jenny the dispatcher keeps us informed of whether or not the plumber is on schedule and headed our way (from the Valley to Santa Monica so you know how that goes with traffic). Miguel is the type of plumber and person who makes it worth it to go with a smaller company vs a big one. He like other reviewers have said was honest, friendly, knowledgeable and prepared! He brought with him extra parts just in case and ended up using them in the replacement of our leaky sink faucet in our kitchen. He took a look at issues with the plumbing and sinks in our men and womens room as well. From start to finish Miguel worked efficiently and had a pleasant demeanor about him. It is so refreshing because most people kind of hate their jobs but you can tell he takes pride in his work and hopefully the team at Oscars rewards him for his great customer service and mastery of his craft! They include a sheet of why they charge what they charge (which is not cheap by any means but is all legitimate costs for parts and labor). Once for my condo complex (I'm the President). They did a great repair for us. Came on time, Price was right. Just perfect. So, when I had a leak in my kitchen, I personally called them to do the job. A different person came to this job. Again, he showed up ON TIME (very unusual), did a great job and did not charge me an arm and a leg. I have gone through a series of plumbing companies through the years and once you find one, they either change hands or a different work person shows up and is terrible. Oscar's did a great job for us. We had a major sewage backup that we could smell from outside for 2 days. yuck! Called Oscar's and they came and saw with the camera that the 80 year-plus old cast iron pipes cracked and was packed and so we got a brand new sewer line with the new approved materials and 2 new clean-outs. It went smoothly . Yes it was a big job and not cheap but it was necessary and worth it and will make things great (for the next owner) when ready to sell. That was during the middle of the pandemic to boot. They did damage a few sprinklers but made good on that which is the right thing to do without hesitation. Had them back to remove and replace a toilet recently and that went well. I would use them again for sure but hopefully the house will keep it together for a long while. :-) read more

I never thought that this would happen but it seems i am hiring out my yelping services......to my dad. Come to think of it, it is kind of cute that my dad came to me and asked me to yelp this business. Seems like I am famous around the homestead. Anyway, my parents needed some plumbing done on one of their showers and my dad called Oscar's to come root for them. They said that they would be there in between 1:30 and 3pm and damn it, that is exactly when they showed up. The plumber called a few minutes before he got to the house to tell my parents that he was in the area. My dad said that he was very pleasant, worked hard and ended up working on two showers instead of just the one (apparently the B. family plumbing needed some extra work. We're a hairy folk). Anyway, the plumber worked hard and got the job done. The place was pretty cheap as far as plumbing goes as well. That is good for my dad; he can use that extra money to pay for my yelping fees. read more

Coincidentally, the same day we discovered a problem we drove past a truck on the freeway for Oscar's Plumbing & Rooter Service, I took down the number and called them on Monday. I spoke with Oscar about what seemed to be the issue, he was very clear and informative. They were willing to come out that same day but, nobody would be home so I scheduled an appointment for the next morning. They thoroughly checked the entire house and the simple rooting issue we thought we had turned out to be a partial main drain replacement. The gentlemen that came out, Steve and Gil, were also very clear and detailed about what they'd be doing, what they found, and the expense. I wasn't home, so after explaining everything to my husband, Steve also got on the phone with me and re-explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. It was a two day job, all the prep work was done the first day and when I came home in the evening was pleased to see how orderly and clean the work was being done. Tarps were laid out below the piles of dirt, the deep holes were covered so nobody would fall in, a bright orange cone was set out, and all my potted plants had been neatly moved. And, our trash bins had been brought in! I got to meet the guys in person at the end of the second day. Again, Steve showed me the various things he'd done, re-explained it all, and answered some more questions. Everything had been put back in place. They were honest and upfront, respectful, informative, orderly, and thorough. We'll definitely be keeping their card and calling them for any future needs (which I hope doesn't happen soon) - and asking for Steve. read more

I learned my lesson the hard way with this company. I called them from the reviews here on Yelp. They came to the house and were very friendly. It was Miguel and one other guy. I should have known as soon as they kept on repeating how they always try to help people and how honest they were. Then the act started which was a bunch of up sell. A simple plumbing job to re set a toilet and fix a small leak that took less than 90 minutes total and about a $90 part they wanted $750 for! On top of that they tried to sell me on additional service that wasn't needed with dropping a camera down the clean out which I did not ask for and was no need for. Tried to sell me a service for $3000.. The act continues as soon as I'm not really wanting that. Miguel calls Oscar and the price drops on the added service but not the work they did and wanted $750 for. I called another plumber at that point with them there and was told point blank 90 minutes of labor and a $90 part would come to no more than $300 if I was correct. Well I went to home depot and found the part for $70. I had no problem with the extra $20 they charged me for parts but the labor was obscene! * The back and forth phone calls between Miguel and supposedly Oscar were about 5 calls altogether. Each time the price came down for the added service. * Very important - I was quoted less than 1/2 by another company and told that service was not necessary for my home. Bottom line is I do not recommend them! read more

These guys were awesome! I had a shower drain clog I had been dealing with off and on for over a year. When drano stopped working, I looked online and found Oscars. Jaime was very friendly and got the job done quick! A few minutes with the snake and the job was done. They even threw in a free shower drain cover (I had to break mine because old stripped screws) Jaime also unclogged the bathroom sink free of charge. Oscar's Plumbing & Rooter Service did some major work for us, and we are extremely pleased with the service they provided. I'm usually too lazy to leave reviews, but these guys really impressed me. We've had problems with our pipes ever since a shoddy remodel about 20 years ago. Over the years we've had different plumbers come and go, trying to fix a major problem with minor patches. Marco and Ulysses came out to do a rooter service and assessment. They inspected everything inside, outside, and under the house. They took pictures under the house of our rusted and leaky iron pipes and all the water the pipes were dripping under the house, plus the mold it was creating under the kitchen sink. Marco showed us the pictures and explained the situation thoroughly. He drew diagrams of how they would repair the problems, and he offered us estimates on the service. He said the job would take about 2 to 3 days, but the job was completed in 2 days with no hidden costs or "surprise problems." - I was introduced to all the workers. Marco and Ulysses again, along with Ray. They were all courteous, professional, and polite. - They called when the were going to be a little late the first morning. - They gave updates about what they were doing as they were working. - They were careful about not damaging the garden and patio. - They cleaned up after themselves and even swept afterward. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because Miguel didn't initially check the problem that was reported (moaning sound when flushing toilet and using bathroom sink) nor did he check it after he was done. I did have to call him back inside as he was about to leave to let him know the sound was still there. He checked it out, and fixed it pretty quickly though at no extra charge. In the midst of a plumbing emergency, (and aren't all plumbing issues emergencies?) my "regular" plumber referred me to Oscar's. Too bad for the "regular" plumber, because Oscar is now my regular plumber! They were able to fit me in on a Saturday, were very friendly, yet still professional. Most importantly, they fixed the problem easily and at a very fair price. That said, when the original problem turned into a brand new problem on Sunday, Oscar himself came out to take care of it. When it turned out that the problem was something beyond Oscar's scope (this was a dishwasher that needed an authorized technician) Oscar was honest and told me he couldn't do the work. Besides that, he was extremely fair and didn't even charge me for the second visit. I would highly recommend them for any plumbing needs! read more
