I have been searching for the best burger in Milwaukee. Many locals suggested Oscar's. They were right. I ordered the Gringo burger. This is probably one of the best burgers I've had. The gringo has Wisconsin American and Cheddar cheese and smoked bacon. It was fantastic. I also tried the Big Foot. This was my favorite. It has a thick layer of crumbled blue cheese. They serve five burgers, and all of them are huge. They are thick, juicy and flavorful. They were accompanied by a side of crispy and slightly seasoned fries. Plus, they are super cheap. All burgers are around $7. Isn't that awesome? 4 stars! read more

This place is repeatedly considered one of the best burger places in Milwaukee, so it's probably my fault for getting the wings! They looked like they might be pretty good, but I'm the end they were average at best. Wanted to try two of their sauces, but it was apparently too busy for them to do that, despite half the tables being empty, so I went with traditional buffalo. I was hoping they'd have a little kick to them, but no, not really. The service wasn't the best either. Every time we needed something, whether we were ready to order, needed napkins/utensils, soda refill, check, etc. we needed to flag our waiter down. Nice place, very busy but no problem getting a seat for a party of five. Limited menu with standard appetizers and various burger choices. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was perfectly cooked and very fresh tasting and had a wonderful consistency. Others in the group enjoyed their burgers very much too. Fries were fabulous...could eat several plates of those. Food gets 4.5 stars - mainly because one in my party bit into square of wax paper...they offered her a replacement burger...but she declined, and ate hers. Service gets a 3.5 - while we were seated quickly, and our orders taken...the waitress never came back around. Another server brought out food out, and helped with a request for water. Perhaps she did not hear us, but we never received the chicken wings we ordered...but they were not on the receipt either. Worked out...we were very full. Prices are very fair - but the receipt price of my beer was $1 more then the menu price. I deducted it from the tip...still I was generous enough. Definitely will go back and recommend. read more

Oscars used to be a little known hidden gem but even these types of places can't hide from their own hype. Oscar's has a chill, casual vibe with friendly staff, attentive service, affordable prices, and decent drink specials. And that outdoor dining area--love it! Even though you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, I'll give you some of my favorite suggestions: -The Big O -Big Hongo -Big Aloha -And those damn sweet potato fries!!!! Took some Outtatowners her for a Burger they would remember after we took a tour of the Miller Brewery. I would definitely give them a five for their Food; but the Miller Light in a bottle Had a metallic aftertaste. We ordered the onion rings to start which were devoured pretty quick bye everyone at the table. The burger selection was sufficient for any palate. This place was surprisingly great! I had a burger and the kids had Buffalo hot wings. The burger was big and flavorful. The wings was perfect! The service isn't the best. I called first and the guy who answered didn't bother to try and hear what my order was. I was trying to order before going on because I had my kids with me. That wasn't an option & when I went in they wasn't friendly at all. It was about getting your order and get you out! Will I be back, that's a big might! We came her for a burger brigade meeting and loved our burgers. This was our first time here. The ambiance is casual and friendly which I like. The bar is lined with taps from tons of local beers. The bartender was very friendly and helped us all decide what to drink. The cheese curds, pickles, and fries were very good. We thought the star was the delicious chicken wings. The burger menu had my mouth watering. I opted for the burger with blue cheese. You were able to add things to the burger if you wanted for an additional charge. There's nothing quite like randomly running into a group of beer rep friends while having a mariachi band serenade your random Wednesday work lunch. Oh, except that random Wednesday today just happened to be their anniversary, so yay for us! First and foremost, the beer list didn't support local brews, it specialized in GOOD local brews; huge difference. And what's more, they had an 8.5" x 11" sign on the bar that boldly stated their tap lines are cleaned bi-weekly by ...xyz co... - whoever. That's an excellent move by Oscar's and a clear indication that the people who sell their beer to Oscar's endorse it enough to come by for their anniversary. Food! The burger lived up to the hype, and then some! Grilled exactly as requested and served with a gracious amount of pretty good, not amazing fries, The Big Gringo was an exceptional burger. Gooey cheese and thick cut bacon managed to stay together (and so did my customer's Big O which was topped even more heavily) without dumping everywhere though, be warned, my burger and bun were both soggy from being done medium rare. Next time I might opt for straight medium. Either way, it's 11 short blocks from work making it a super dangerous artery-clogging weekly lunch stop for this soon-to-be fatass. read more

If you're craving a juicy burger, Oscar's the spot. This restaurant gives bar vibes with bar prices but the burgers are so much more. They're large, juicy, and cheap. I got the Big Gringo and the bf got the Big O. The big O definitely deserve it's name. An O of flavors. We got a substitution of sweet potato fries and the aioli that came with it paired perfectly. We love Oscar's! My son and I came to Milwaukee for a baseball game and once again, like last time, came to Oscar's for burgers before heading to the stadium. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. Then, as we walked out of the restaurant, we noticed a mini-bus - a free shuttle to the stadium! How cool! The driver (sorry - I forgot his name!) was so nice - he dropped us off and picked us up right outside of the stadium. We saved the parking fee and were able to beat the crowds heading out after the game. What an amazing perk! If only for that, I'd return, but once you add in the great food and service, it's a no-brainer that we will be back! read more

Wow! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Oscars yet. Burgers and fries are one of my staple go-our-to-eat foods and I'd have to say Oscars is probably my favorite place in the city. Service is always friendly, prompt, and accommodating. I am always impressed with how fast the food comes and they make sure to keep the refills a-coming with soda. Oscars is so reasonably priced too. A huge burger and fries for $8! On my most recent trip I had the big gringo burger which came with two kinds of cheese and bacon; I added lettuce, grilled onions, and mayo. This is for sure my new go-to at Oscars as it was super delicious! My husband always gets the big o which is a little too spicy in my opinion. The fries are dusted with Parmesan and so yummy. This is also a great spot to eat dinner and take a shuttle to a brewers game; they have a pretty big parking lot. Thank you to Oscars to staying delicious and amazing!! read more

Love this place. Been an avid fan of this place ever since Oscar first opened it back a few years ago. And the burger (namely the big O) still tastes as amazing as it did back then. Perfectly cooked hamburger patty with just the right amount of cheese (a lot), with chorizo sausage for a nice little kick, jalapeño slices, bacon for bad fat, guacamole for good fat, and perfect burger bun. Add Parmesan fries and you've got quite possibly the best burger I've had in the United States (and I've had several of them). Bold statement, yes I know. But I actually mean it. Always nice to see the owner being so involved with his restaurant too. Oscar had probably served me my food here more times than I can remember, all around nice guy. My friend took me here while I was visiting the city. I asked him what his favorite lunch place was and he said.. Oscar's. So I don't know much about the city but this seemed to be in the Hispanic neighborhood so I was excited to try a burger with a Mexican twist. Sat down in the back and ordered two drinks. They had Surly brew on tap! Which is one of my favorite breweries in Minneapolis. We started with wings... because why not!? The chicken wings were good sized and cooked well. We moved on to a burger, and both ordered the Big O.... Maybe it was the start of OMG? Cause this burger was fantastic. Seasoned, spiced, hot and delicious. Perfect burger and perfect fries! We were having a flight of beer over at Urban Harvest (see my review of that!) and The Beloved Dorothy decided that it was burger & fries time. Without telling me what she was doing she began to interview the folks in the pub. The name that came up a lot was: "Oscar's". Well, since that's our grandson's name, it was an obvious choice for our dinner destination. Even though it was a Friday night, we were seated straight-away. Considering that the bar was packed, the short wait for our server was well within the bounds of acceptable. We both ordered a beer (which one escapes me now...but it was great!) and the "Big-O Burger". Dorothy ordered sweet potato fries and I opted for the regular one. Both burgers were requested medium-rare *yes, I know that FDA says "Well Done" for burgers. I'd rather die happy that chew on Well Done*. After a short wait our plates arrived. This is a Good Sized Burger. They were topped with hot peppers and a great sauce. Advertised as Spicy they had a nicely pleasant kick. Spicy in my book? Um, "Midwest spicy" I'd say. Mind you, I drink hot sauce straight from the bottle. Don't judge me! I suppose the "Big-O Burger" is supposed to give you a BIG O. You know... nudge, nudge, wink wink... I wouldn't go THAT far, but I'll tell you that it was a nice chunk of Really Good Burger between a finished-on-the-flat-top brioche bun. Good Stuff. And the fries? They exceeded expectation. The "regular" potato fries were crispy and hot and season just right. Exactly what you want with a burger. Dorothy's sweet potato fries were also great. Fresh cut, and with a crispiness and a full-on sweet-potato flavor that you rarely find in the usual sweet potato fry. Recommended? Even though I was in Wisconsin for that meal, I'll give it a full-fledged You Betcha! for a recommendation. read more
