(i don't like hard shell tacos, greasy) Definitely not the ground beef meat that people typically use. I am very satisfied and will be going there more often! The service was very quick, the workers didn't talk much but they weren't bad nor very friendly. Who knows, maybe I went at the wrong time of the day! (2pm) This location is Cash Only. Meh. Second time around I tried the queso which was very good but had clumps of cheese that were cold, so that was good yet disappointing. Had the chorizo tacos again and they were blah at best. They also forgot to give me one of my chicken tacos so they rushed that out and it tasted like rushed food always does, like crap. I eat here every time I come to town. The food is always fresh and reminds me of SoCal! I've never had a bad meal here. My wife and I popped in on a Thursday night. Very friendly employees, clean interior (though the atmosphere is nothing to get excited about). I was hankerin' for a fish taco but was a little bummed that they only offer fried fish and not grilled. Nevertheless, we got the fish tacos and really really enjoyed them. Oddly my taco had no pico and my wife's did, and hers was quite a bit fuller than mine. But no big deal - they tasted great. Love the corn tortillas! much more flavorful than flour tortillas. We also got the guac and chips ... .the guac was really good. Just a tad on the salty side if I had to nit-pick. I also got a Carne Asada taco and felt it was a little dry. All-in-all it was decent. Chicken Tacos! I've been to Oscar's many times and the food is always consistent, always fresh, and always delicious. They seriously serve some of the best chicken tacos I've ever had. This last time I went to Oscar's, I tried their chicken super nacho's and they were also amazing. It's literally a TRAY that is piled with fresh tortilla chips and smothered with chicken, guacamole, beans, and salsa. I split it with my boyfriend and we still couldn't finish it all. The prices are great, the staff is friendly, and everything on the menu looks excellent. They even serve breakfast burritos with eggs and chorizo, so you could eat here three times a day. I had a chicken taco, and 2 beef tacos. They were good. Even though they both were on the taco menu, the chicken taco wasn't crunchy, it was a warmed corn tortilla. The beef tacos were crunchy, but seemed deep fried. They were both great. The beef is shredded, not ground. I usually like ground beef. The chicken tacos were better than the beef (I thought anyway), and I'm usually not a fan of chicken tacos. It's fast and clean. I ordered sides- 3 tacos and a small soda- and it was almost $10. I thought that was somewhat over priced. 3 tacos? They were just tacos. They were good- but should be cheaper. It wasn't organic or local beef or chicken. read more

Oscar's is my go-to place if I just want a burrito. Growing up in Chicago we had a lot of places that sold burritos and tacos and this is very comprable to those places. Oscar's is delicious and affordable. I love their breakfast burritos (chorizo and egg is my fav), and my husband goes for their carnitas. I've had their quesadillas too, also good. Their queso and chips is a MUST, and everything is cooked to order and piping hot. We can get two burritos (big!) for like $12, which these days is a deal. Plenty of seating, clean restrooms, nice employees. No frills and no complaints here! I also like to call ahead for pickup on my way home from work. I have always driven by this place living in the area and I was curious one day. I went it and grabbed on of the all day breakfast burritos. The chorizo variety with add potatoes. AMAZING!! The taste is perfect. You can never beat a homemade tortilla and the salsas pair great with it. The portion is also great for the price. If you are super hungry, this will fill you up. I was working at a nearby recording studio all week, and was pleasantly surprised when we stumbled across Oscar's for lunch one day. It's cheap, it's good, and the folks are really nice. It's actually really good when compared with most of the Mexican/Tex Mex hybrids I've tried in the Nashville area. I had a shrimp burrito with a side of chips & queso. The shrimp was marinated and grilled perfectly, complimented nicely by the avocado, cheese sauce and onion filling. The order of queso was enough for 5 people. When we ran out of chips, I order an extra serving for $0.97 and despite having a tub full of chips ready to go, the cashier made mine fresh to order. Did I mention I spent less than $10? I love this place. I usually order the Carne Machaca combo plate which is a shredded beef / egg blend with beans and rice and tortillas. It is a lot of meat and from what I have seen every dish offers a generous amount of meat. It is always lean cuts, good meat. The dish also comes with great pico de gallo (which I don't usually like, but is great here), guacamole and sour cream. The only reason that I give it four stars instead of five is that I am not crazy about either of their two salsas. I don't find them flavorful. Another place I finally got around to going to. Just like with SATCO, I will say again... I grew up in Texas so I feel I know what I should expect from good Tex-Mex. But before I get to the food, some details that I feel should be mentioned. 1) The staff here is really nice and the seem to be a family owned business (big plus in my book). 2) Not only is their food fresh and service prompt, but the staff even eagerly makes suggestions as to what you might like if you ask them for their opinion/advice. As for the food, very flavorful and a great variety to choose from at that. Also, this is the first place I have been able to find with breakfast tacos in Middle TN! Now that I really want to go back for and try. Finally if you are unsure of just how good they are, well, the dinning area was completely full when I was there... so the food must be good. I had a hard time finding a seat at first. In the end, my only complaint is that their cheese enchiladas (which I ordered) had barely any cheese in them. Best fish tacos ever! What's not to love about Oscar's. Delicious food and super cheap prices. My husband and I can eat dinner, including drinks and queso for $10-15 bucks (depending on how hungry we are)! I've given the downtown Franklin location a 5 star review as well, as both locations are fantastic! Their homemade soft corn tortillas are great, and although I prefer the fish tacos, everything I've tried as been great. My husband likes the chorizo burrito. Let me start with this, people complaining about the parking are drama queens (and apparently lazy ones). There is only one row of parking at the store front which does fill quickly, but there two lots on either side of the strip the restaurant is in and there's plenty of that. So you had to walk a couple extra steps, no reason to knock the restaurant for it.... As for the food: Yum Yum Yum!! I am a fan of Oscars taco shop and am very excited there is another one down the road from my house near Antioch. Huge portions for fair prices, I had their chicken fajitas for around $9, and the plate was as full as they could stuff it, had plenty left over to make a second meal out of. The chicken was flavorfull, the rice was great, the beans were yummy, all that great flavor you want when you go for Mexican. I was there with two other friends, one got the fajitas as well and the other got a huge loaded quesadilla, looked awesome. We all split the "small" order of chips and queso, plenty for the three of us. I will most definitely be back. The only thing I didn't love about Oscar's was the interior. Hard minimal booths, not much decor, kind of reminded me of a Mexican subway, not a place I would want to take my time at and have a couple beers (which they do serve), it seemed styled and set up to be a quick in and out for lunch or dinner. read more

My girlfriend and I love Oscar's, it is quick tasty and consistent. That being said, I must agree with the consensus of feeling like a huge burden to the girls working the front. Last time we went, my lady instinctually ordered "a diet coke" because that is what they always have had until recently and rather then "we have actually changed to Pepsi", or something similar, we get a scowl and a snotty "we don't have coke, would you like a soft drink instead?" Walk the 75', people! Pros - chips, queso, and sauces Cons - fish taco had almost no flavor So-so - Shrimp taco was mediocre at best for flavor I didn't find the expense of items as price gouging. The place isn't Taco Bell (which is actually more flavorful), so don't expect 99 cent tacos. A large queso is around $4 and a fish taco around $3. Three tacos (2 shrimp/1 fish), chips, large queso, and 2 drinks were approximately $17. Not a bad value if the flavor was there. In the end, I wish I had driven up I-65 to Chili Burrito or Baja Burrito, which is what I'll do next time. read more

If you want the experience of what a REAL BURRITO or TACO is then by all means, haul your butt down here and Grub out. This is a taco shop that represents Southern California food. It is much different and must not be compared to a Mexican restaurant that is typical of this region as in not a bunch of flower tortillas from Kroger warmed up canned beans and tomato sauce with little green specks in it to make it appear to be anything more. There are not bottomless chips or margs but that's not what this place is about. Come with an open perspective if you've never tried this type of food and don't try to order something that closest resembles what you already know. Like guacamole dip. It's not good here. It's lame. Get a beautiful burrito that will fill your belly and taste better that most anything you could put in your mouth. Order at the counter. Find your own seat.
