My family and I have been loyal customers for years, but that loyalty ends now. My recent experience with this company has been nothing short of horrific. During what should have been a yearly routine service (which I pay for), their technician perforated an oil line causing a leak in the exact location he had just worked on. This became clear immediately afterward due to the strong smell of oil. Instead of taking responsibility the company misrepresented what happened claiming the leak was 15 feet away from the serviced area and attempted to charge $850 which is ridiculous considering the technician caused the issue. Acting in good faith and as an honest customer, I offered a fair resolution of $300 to cover their material, which was more than reasonable and extremely generous given that the issue arose right after their technician worked in that area. I emailed the company owner, Michael Levi, to resolve the matter amicably but he did not attempt to address the situation fairly after being presented with the facts. Michael Levi ignored the information I provided and did not acknowledge what actually transpired. Overall this company has failed to take any responsibility. Upon calling the office to speak to Michael Levi, I was instead transferred to Lisa, whose behavior was unprofessionally rude, dismissive, and completely unacceptable (they can check their own recorded phone log). She refused to put Michael Levi on the phone or relay any message. This demonstrates the obvious and systemic lack of professionalism within this company. Michael Levi has clearly decided unprofessionalism as the way to cover their ineptitude. Rather than resolving the issue they resorted to threats of collections, something I have absolutely no concern about, given that I was the only one making every reasonable effort to resolve an issue that exists entirely because of OSI's negligent actions. Overall, this company has demonstrated dishonesty, incompetence, and a complete disregard for long standing customers. I live in Manhasset NY. OSI is not the company it used to be. When it was run by the father, Richie Levi, it was a first rate, reliable honest organization. When the father was running the company, it completed a number of successful projects for me including A/C compressor, gas fireplace, minisplit installation, baseboard heating. They had earned my trust and reliance. Unfortunately, it appears that the father has retired and the company is now being run by the son Michael Levi who may have a degree in the relevant trades, but has no idea of how to treat customers. My furnace died in Spring 2023. It used the same ductwork as my A/C so I needed an new furnace unit that would accommodate the A/C coils like my old furnace did. Michael recommended a furnace unit and installed it. It was a fixed price job. The heat worked fine. But the reinstalled A/C coils immediately started to freeze up. I had not experienced this with my old furnace. OSI sent service men twice to try to fix it. The first one blamed it on my filter claiming it was too fine a filter providing too much resistance to air flow. But it was the same filter that worked fine with my old furnace. So it didn't make a lot of sense. Nevertheless, to test that theory, I ran the system without the filter. It still froze up. So they sent another technician who moved a cutoff sensor that was mounted in a position he thought might be mounted too near the A/C coils causing it freezing up. After that change, the A/C coils stopped freezing up even with the air filter in place. As far as I was concerned, all was good. But then, much to my surprise, I received a $548 bill for the 2 service calls to fix the A/C coil freezing problem. It seemed to me that this problem was caused by OSI installing the sensor too close to the A/C coil. I thought this must be a mistake because the furnace job included reinstallation of he A/C unit so that it worked properly. So I called OSI to discuss. The office said I had to speak to Michael Levi. I left a message for Michael asking that he call me. I received no call. So I called again. I was told he was on vacation. So I left a message asking that he call me when he returned. Again, no call, just continued monthly statements claiming I owed $548 for these two service calls to solve the A/C coil freeze up problem that arose after OSI did the installation. I then emailed Michael laying out my objection to the $548 charge. Michael had an assistant Ben Gambino respond. Ben claimed the money was owed because the problem was caused by the air filter. I was astonished. This is the same air filter that worked fine with the old furnace. It is the same filter that i removed before running the system again and experiencing the freeze up that led to the second service call that solved the problem. He offered to reduce the fill by $48 to $500. I replied that I hadn't yet heard a sensible explanation for why any money was owed. If they provide one, I would be willing to discuss it.. I received no response from Ben or Michael or OSI. Based this, it is clear to me that OSI's current management has little regard for customers or truth. Billing and defending billing at all costs is their priority number one regardless of the merits. read more

I would give them a zero if I could. My water heater is broken and I have CHW. I have been without one for 5 days and they they want to charge me $800 and then they say my soft water unit is in the way and want to charge me another $200 to unhook it. Then they will fuck this up and I will have to get Culligan and give them money to fix there shit. All they had to do is send a second person here to switch it out if one person could not handle it and they refused. I could write a lot more but these guys suck big time and are a complete rip off. When I started using their services years ago they were simply an oil delivery company. They've added plumbing, electrical, A/C and alarm service to their "menu". They don't "farm it out". They handle everything in-house. Latest dilemma : my water heater "passed away". Michael reviewed the situation, educated me, and arranged the installation of an indirect water heating system. Water and heat are piping hot and better than I can remember. You can break you back looking for a "discount oil company". What you'll find is they really aren't much cheaper and the most important factor won't be there. Think about it being -5 degrees outside and your oil burner stops working. It's happened to me and OSI was at the house in less than 30 minutes on a weekend! Every associate I've interacted with has always been polite, efficient and most important-knowledgeable. You never want to wake up without heat, but that's especially true when it's 19 degrees out. I called at a little after 7am today and after about 3 rings, someone answered. I was a bit thrown off as I was ready to start entering prompts or pounding on 0. I explained that I had no heat, the guy on the phone was nice, took my info and promised he'd get someone out here today. To my surprise the tech showed up at 10am, did his troubleshooting, explained what happened, what he did and by noon, my radiators and were hot and there's hot water. I have the contract with OSI. I had an issue where it was taking 12 hours to cool a new home. OSI agreed to come out and look at it for $155. They noticed dirty clogged filters that needed to be replaced which I was wiling to pay for, they said Freon was getting low and I was willing to pay for that as well. However, because we had two compressors they said they wanted me to pay essentially double for the guy who came down. They wanted me to pay as if they made two separate service calls before he would even look at the second condenser. They also forgot/lied about the original price they quoted of $155 and changed it to $185. (Before the additional $155 for the second condenser.) I just don't understand why they would throw away a customer with these shenanigans. If this was their actual policy you would think they would ask you how many condensers you have when making the appointment and quoting a price. Having two condensers is not unusual. read more

We've used OSI for 20 years. This week was the last straw. They serviced our a/c 3 weeks ago. It stopped working on Tuesday (94 degree day). We called and begged them to come fix it. They said they MIGHT be able to get here; they'd let us know in 2 hours. We found someone else who came right away. He said it had stopped working because the drain was clogged and gallons of water had backed up. He fixed it for as much as OSI charged for "service." We told him it had been serviced 3 weeks before and he laughed and said that whatever the "service" was, they didn't clear the drain or it would not have backed up. We told OSI and they called us liars. They said the service was 2 1/2 hours long. The guy worked here for half an hour tops and sat in his truck outside for a while, no way did he work in our home for 2 1/2 hours. I have to say right off the bat, these guys came in and took over my house from another company I had RL. The other company had me paying over $4 a gallon regardless of market value. This is my 20th year in a row, and since it is the only house I have ever purchased, of using OSI as my both oil provider and my repair and maintenance company. The entire staff has never been anything but helpful and professional. They kept my old burner going for 20 years by their maintenance and repair and since I pay an for an annual service contract I never had to pay a dime. The same applies to their oil prices. By joining an annual maximum price program I have thousands over the years. Finally this year my boiler and hot water heater completely gave out. They quoted me a price, gave me a discount for already being a customer and installed the new equipment when promised and for the price promised. They also cleaned up and took away the old equipment. Within a day or two I started having trouble with some of the rooms in my two-story house not getting warm and the hot water was not hot enough. I called them around 7:30 am and was treated very nicely and told that I would be a priority call. I didn't really expect anyone before noon since it was the coldest day of the year and I knew they must be swamped. So my family and I began preparing for work and school when the doorbell rang. It was 7:50 am, or about 20 minutes after my call. They had rerouted a Senior Tech to stop at my house immediately instead of going to the office as he had planned. He took a look, found a small problem that was causing the issues and repaired it. He then went through every room in the house to make sure they were getting heat and the kitchen and bathrooms had hot water! In less than an hour he was done and we have not had trouble since. Be very careful before you ask these thieves to do work for you. I previously had a compressor wiring kit replaced (total cost including parts $90) on my central air and one of the wires had burnt out. I called OSI at 6:00 PM and asked if they could have someone come out and fix the issue for me. Initially they said they could come the next day but after I explained my need for the AC they said they could come that evening. Tech shows up at 6:45 pm with a major attitude. blatantly aggressive towards me and clearly furious that he had to suffer the "indignity" of coming out so late in the evening. after 30 minutes of work he handed me a bill for $355.00!! I called OSI the next day and several times afterwards for an explanation and breakdown of the bill. I finally got a call back from PHIL and was told- too bad we cant break down the charges for you this is what we charge. When i said OK but please give me a breakdown i.e. parts labor etc he said no. He did say that everything is from a book but he doesn't have the book in front of him. he also said that he thinks a night call is an additional $50 but he wasnt sure on that either. I told him i researched the wire and they cost $40-$60 depending on where you go. $60+$50= $110. I did this math for him as apparently he could not and asked if their hourly rate was $245.00. Once again PHIL said he couldn't tell me and wouldn't break down the charges. He finished with saying stop nickle and dimeing about the price- it is what it is. He was condescending and rude and i would highly recommend using ANY OTHER COMPANY!. read more
