I've visited twice recently and I really enjoyed the scenic views and extensive menu. Both times I have sat outside which was in the shade and comfortable, even on the hottest days of the season. Watching the boat traffic come in go - everything from kayakers to yachters makes for an entertaining meal. Speaking of meals, I've now tried a handful or so items on the menu. Favorites so far are the Flounder Sandwich and potato skins topped with crab dip. The burger was good too. The halibut tacos and crab bruschetta are a pass for me. Service has been great at the Dock House. The servers have to walk fairly far from the kitchen to the dockside tables and they maintain great service. Kudos to them. Speaking of dock, there is space to dock boats parallel to the bulkhead. Several small to mid-size boats were there both times I visited. I looked to see if there was a sign about the depth or rules for docking there and I didn't see anything. What I have observed is there isn't a dock hand and it's not protected so it can get a little bit of chop. A few boaters were just hanging out on their boat listening to the live music so they didn't seem to mind getting jostled when larger traffic comes through the channel. For those with land yachts or a car, there is plenty of parking and it's easy to get here right off of US-50, assuming there isn't "beach traffic." Dock House is located on the back side of the Boatel that is visible from US-50. Dock House is absolutely one of my new favorite restaurants in the Annapolis area. I am looking forward to many return trips to Kent Island to continue working my way through the menu.

But over the past year, things have changed. Prices are extremely high for what you are served and it just feels different, too. It used to be crowded all the time. Since the new owners have taken over, prices have risen and today, for the second time, we paid $130 for a dozen of what were supposed to be "large" crabs. Not even close! I brought this to the attention of our server who replied, "Geez, I'm really sorry about that. I'll mention it to the kitchen." That was it. No follow up. Nothing! Don't get me wrong, prices have risen everywhere and I don't mind paying a little more for food - as long as I don't feel like I am getting ripped off. This was not one of those times - very disappointing! On top of that, I watched some of the staff during our visit. Three young people pretty much stood at the hostess stand the entire time (2 hours) we were there. It was not a busy Sunday and you would think these employees could be doing something to help out our overextended server. Instead of just standing around waiting to put paper on table for crab eaters, or standing around waiting for someone to show up to be seated, why not get busy wrapping utensils in napkins, or fill the condiments in the buckets on each table, or clean off chairs vacated by patrons who were finished eating???? Something! I'm not sure we'll go back to Waterman's. What a shame. Driving for at least 90 minutes from Wilmington 5-6 times a year for over 25 years and spending at least $150 on each dining experience might have ended. Maybe we can find a new place where you don't feel like you're being taken advantage of.

Although we didn't have reservations, they sat us at one of the only tables for 2. It was located right on the water. Obviously, we both ordered the crab cake entree (from the lunch menu) which came with 1 side. I got the mashed potatoes and my wife got the coleslaw. Side note - crab cakes here are 5 ounces. For dessert, we ordered the hot fudge sundae that included Captain Crunch cereal pieces. "Linner" was good overall. For us, sitting out in the sun was definitely not ideal, but again we didn't have reservations and there are no tables for 2 inside the restaurant. Getting in and out of the parking area was really challenging as traffic was heavy.

One being the stewed tomatoes, as well asparagus. My husband said he enjoyed it all. They even gave us some good rolls to go. Service was prompt. Ordered online and was ready as promised. Our waiter, Miles was personable, professional and attentive. We threw them a bit of a curveball needing mocktails for one of us but they took the challenge in stride and came up with great pairings. Chef/Owner Steve came out to greet us and walked us through each course explaining that it's all a surprise and off menu using local fresh ingredients. Everything was fantastic! We ordered: +the Cappy, which was a biali with egg, cheese, and sausage - the biali itself was chewy, but not in a good way; the fillings were also not warm +a Frittata, which had swiss cheese, egg, and Canadian bacon; this was super cold in the middle When we notified the staff that the items were cold, they apologized; rather than reheating it in the oven or remaking the items, it was off to the microwave they went (we heard the beep); this resulted in the food being rubbery and dried out. We had already lost our appetite, so the food was pushed off to the side. They did run out of the Mylita's Quiche (containing crab, shrimp, and cheeses), which supposedly is their famous item that gets sold out fast - at first, I was sad that we missed out on this, but after having our meal, not so much. Cheesesteaks should be served on an Italian roll that's crunchy and crisp on the outside and soft inside. These were soft throughout. (think hot dog buns) but looked like Italian rolls. It just detracted from the sandwich. My guest had a cup of soup, which was delicious, but had icy spots throughout and had to be reheated. Lunch for two people was over $52. That seems a little steep for a little by-the-way diner.
