Osprey Tacos: A quaint little taco spot on the beachside with a lively outside seating area and a modern and bright external atmosphere to capture one's interest. Meal Type: Lunch Food/Beverage: La Croix sparking grapefruit drink, chips and guacamole, Baja fish taco and the herbivore special taco, churros for dessert. Rating scale: Food/ Bev quality: 9/10 - The food came out hot, fresh and delicious; the tacos were served with a beautiful array of flavors that all worked together perfectly, the tortilla chips weren't too overpowered with seasoning and paired nicely with their chunky, zesty guacamole, and the churros were delivered warm and covered entirely by a perfect balance of cinnamon and sugar. Everything paired wonderfully with an ice cold drink that also cleansed the palate. However, I would have liked the flour tortillas for the tacos to have been given more of a texture, such as a slight crunch, instead of simply warmed which resulted in them turning soggy much quicker than I would have preferred. Food/Bev quantity: 9/10 - I was served two decent sized tacos to which were generously filled in order for one to get something of everything in each bite. The churros were also the perfect amount for one to enjoy completely or share with a friend (if that idea appeals to you). The chips to guacamole ratio was a bit off, however, as there were a surplus of chips for the amount of guacamole given. I actually ended up asking for another cup of guacamole to go along with the rest of my chips that were left behind after I devoured the first cup of guacamole. Value for the overall dollar: 10/10 - The overall pricing for the menu is rather reasonable; my fish taco being approximately $4.75, the herbivore coming out at around $4.50, the chips and guacamole altogether were $5.00, and the churro was only $1.99. They did not skimp on the amount of ingredients to which filled each taco, and there were also a wide variety of complementary sauces and seasonings to add to one's meal, whether it may be tacos, a taco bowl, or even just to the chips, to which made the value for what one receives go up in my book! Service: 8/10 - The whole space for Osprey Tacos is in fact rather tight inside; therefore, there is not much room for a large staff. That being said, it was noted that there were only a handful of chefs within the actual kitchen, and only one person taking orders, delivering orders, and handling any other customer requests. The entire staff was incredibly polite and attentive to its guests, but the general service was rather slow. Décor: 10/10 - The overall décor of this small restaurant brings forth a modern and colorful vibe that fits well with the total experience. Tacos, chips, guacamole, and churros are meant to be enjoyed in a casual, laid back atmosphere, which is exactly what Osprey Tacos offers to the public. During my time spent at Osprey Tacos, I thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. It is the perfect place to meet up with friends for an informal get-together where people can enjoy scrumptious, care-free food in good company! One thing that I would change about Osprey Tacos, however, is the amount of seating inside compared to the amount of seating they provide outside. The inside of the building is rather tight; the seating indoors almost collides with where people order their food, making those eating feel slightly cramped. There are also no tables inside, only counter tops along the window. There are numerous large tables outside for people to dine, but the ratio of indoor to outdoor seating could be fixed. I think that over time it would be a good investment to have the place expanded to where the establishment can provide additional indoor seating to give more options to customers as well as be positioned farther away from the entrance and the line of customers. read more

The tacos were amazing. I had the steak tacos which is a good way to measure the quality of a taco shop, and the steak was so juicy and tender. More authentic than most places. Only thing I didn't like was the price. Something like $3.75 per taco and that's nearly outrageous. read more

These tacos are simply delicious!! From the fresh ingredients to the seasoning, everything is full of flavor! This place was referred to me by a friend, and though she gave a rave review, I was a little skeptical. However, after having tried them myself I have to say that all of her praise is well-deserved. Though the seating is limited and the venue rather small, the tacos are wonderful, the churros are amazing and warm, and the beer hall next door is an added perk. The service was super fast and the entire staff was fantastic! I was so impressed by this place that I had to make it my very first Yelp review, that's how impressed I was. I came to this place with my parents who are tourists but I am a local. As a local, I would advise you not to eat here. The tacos are very small and a whopping $5 each. You would need at least two or three if you show up hungry. The tacos are good but nothing to write home about and certainly not up to par with the price point. Your choice of corn or flour tortilla and you can make any taco in to a taco bowl which eliminates the tortilla and adds a hearty portion of rice and pinto beans with more of the taco toppings. The organic mixed greens salad is really fresh, perfect amount with a choice of house made ranch or a citrus vinaigrette! Killer fresh house made salsas (green and a red) guacamole and taco sauces!! Don't forget a house made Churro on your way out! Our favorites are the Southerner, Crispy Tofu, Cheeseburger, Buffalo and Cuban Tacos, so far! We loved Osprey Tacos, friendly staff and atmosphere. Really good selection of tacos and all of the ingredients were super fresh. It's a tiny little place but the food is great. I had the St. Augustine with fried shrimp - they were a really good size and had the perfect amount of crunch. Also had the BBQ pork and it was tasty as well! More of a vinegar base, which I really loved. The staff was really nice and for being very crowded, we got our food in a very reasonable amount of time. Will definitely go back to try something new! Loved the food here! It's hard to find good cheap food here on the whim, but my family and I were in town and saw the menu. Decided to give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. Food was good, the place was clean and well decorated (mostly covered outdoor seating). The only complaint is that the price adds up the more tacos you buy. Each are about 4/5$ and if you get three thats already 15$. I'd recommend the 11$ taco bowl option which is very filling and less expensive than buying 3 or 4 tacos. Good place to eat and fairly family friendly!! If we come back to visit here we are definitely going to keep this place in mind. read more

First time there, ordered the steak street tacos on a corn tortilla shell. Sorry but whatever they are marinating their meat with or perhaps it was the cooking surface, but the taste was a terrible- ashy flavor that immediately hit your tongue. The place was busy and I heard many patrons talk about how good theirr tacos were but ours were not and the Ashy flavor stayed on our tongues the whole night. It is located in a great spot adjacent to a micro-brewery. We did not complain to them and tossed the food. Probably should have. Hopefully just a bad night for the steak tacos. read more

Went to Osprey today with my family and everyone LOVED it! We had the most delicious tacos accompanied by a fun laid back atmosphere and great music. The owner/chef came outside and introduced himself to us and made us feel really welcome. Super clean space as well. The beers from Old Coast next door were an awesome pairing to the tacos too. Easily the most flavor you'll find at any restaurant in St. Augustine. Plus a very friendly staff and unusually talented chefs. I thought I knew tacos, but this place brings such artistry to the cuisine that it's like discovering tacos for the very first time. There are several vegetarian options, and they'll create a vegetarian version of anything on the menu, with either meatless crumbles or tofu cubes. The atmosphere is very casual (picnic tables outside and a few bar stools inside). But even if you'd normally prefer more comfy seating and table service (like I do), it's no exaggeration to say that the quality of the food turns the casual environment into a very fancy dining experience. read more

Osprey Tacos is a hidden gem in Saint Augustine. My wife and I tried four different types of tacos and loved them all. The restaurant is clean (brand new) and the menu is very creative. If you're looking for a Taco Bell value meal, this is not the restaurant for you. If you appreciate fresh and delicious, Osprey Tacos is sure to impress. The fish tacos were excellent and "seared" to perfection. The fish was nicely cooked and the sauces were tasty. The tacos are a little higher in price than what I'm used to when ordering by the taco (averaging $3.50-$4.50 per taco), but the ingredients are definitely high quality and the tacos are also a little larger than the usual when ordering by the taco. It may turn out that Osprey Tacos does not quite know what a taco is. Consider their menu of "boulevard" tacos, which, unlike their "street" tacos, manifest novel ways of taking ingredients you wouldn't typically put in a taco INTO a taco. Wow. Second, why sometimes are tacos served with doubled up corn tortillas (as a standard "street" taco should have) but occasionally one receives a single flour tortilla? Sometimes they ask which tortilla variety you prefer, sometimes not, regardless your tortilla selection is left to fate. Now let's get to a taco's taste. After a fair sampling over several trips accompanied with several friends, it's clear the meat is always dry, overcooked, and maybe a bit stale. Where's the grease, the seasoning, the salsa, you know the general messiness of a "street" taco, and the reason why you usually want two corn tortillas?? The selection of salsas is not enough to compensate for the parched pork you know? Lastly, the f-ck is BBQ sauce doing beside my Cholula? (Two stars because the potato tacos - a special - are great, and at least Old Coast Ales is next door to help you choke it all down.) read more

Love this place! The Cuban taco is my fav as well as the fried tofu taco. I think the menu is adventurous! Every week they have a taco they feature that is really spectacular! Love the guacamole- me and the hubs usually fight over the last bit. So order your own!! The Churros are fabulous! The outdoor patio is adorable with large picnic tables and a big industrial fan for your dining pleasure.They have indoor seating but it is limited.
