Placed a to go order for some chicken parm and the bread basket. I loveeeeee me some parm and it's expensive, so I don't eat it often. I decided to give this place a try. Service - friendly, efficient. Took a bit, but they were busy, so no complaints. Food - parm was great. The sauce on the spaghetti was delicious, something I haven't had before. Disclaimer, I ordered food from Osteria through Uber Eats. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Linguine and the crème brulee cheesecake. The pasta was okay. It was tasty but the flavor was very mild. I felt like I needed some parm or something to add a little more depth to the sauce. Not bad, however. I'm not opposed to visiting the restaurant to try the food fresh. I'm not sure if there will be a difference but because it wasn't a bad dish, I'd try it in person. For the dessert, I could've skipped that one. Crème brulee is my favorite dessert and I love cheesecake so I thought this combination would be amazing. I ordered Uber Eats here many times and only 1 time was my order correct, and that was because I called and asked that they read my notes about receiving wrong items in the past. Today worse issue I ordered food for 2 and only got 1 meal which was completely incorrect and can't be eaten the way it's prepared. I'm so annoyed as now my family does not have dinner. Really cute neighborhood restaurant with delicious options! We gathered for my nephews birthday and it was a large party of 11 but we were treated with great service! We started off with appetizers- calamari, fried ravioli, meatballs, and mussels. Everything came out promptly and the perfect temperature. I would give all apps except the mussels a 10/10. the mussels had good flavor but it was in a white wine sauce that seemed slightly too watery. For main course I enjoyed the Chicken Marsala and fettuccini. The marsala was a great flavorful wine mushroom balsamic gravy bathing thin tender chicken cutlets. I loved Osteria 832 when it originally opened. Great location, indoor and outdoor seating, a little something for everyone and the prices were reasonable. Now they've gone and put on a little cocktail dress (renovated) and offered a sexy indoor space with a bar and booths that cut down on noise and offer a little privacy. Good lighting (my dining partner gave it two thumbs up so it's gay approved) the food is tasty and it's seriously a value. The outdoor patio is still a draw even as the weather gets a little cooler. Whether it's pizza or pasta you're in good hands here and you'll likely end up wanting to come back and try something else on the menu. And that's the right call. I love this restaurant so much, I never really write reviews but I will say two things. 1- Food is outstanding 2- I have had Sean as a sever the past three times I have gone, and due to that, I have had an awful experience 3 times in row. The service is beyond slow (took us 30 minutes to get an order taken) and then it took over an hour to get our "bottomless mimosas" and other drinks bc they came out with our food and apps (all together) He is genuinely the worst, and rudest server I have ever experienced to the point I remember him after a year of being at the restaurant each time. He will repeatedly cut you off, huff and puff, and ignore you, and no matter how accommodating you try to be to him, he will just act like you are an inconvenience and like he hates you. This makes me not want to return out of fear of having this level of service again. Genuinely ruined our brunch and I would rate 0 stars if not for the food. While in the area, I decided to give this establishment a try, Upoun arrival, I received a warm greeting and was promptly seated at the bar, as I was dinning solo. Megan took my orders, and I started with the delectable warm bread basket. For the main course, I chose the Tuscan chicken pasta which was crafted with a bold and delightful flavors. As it relate to parking, there's a parking lot behind the restaurant, and across the street. Since the restaurant is located in a walkable community, there's also the option for street parking too. I have always enjoyed Osteria's food, especially their brunch. They also have a great patio. Recently, they introduced their late night cocktail bar. I've been wanting to give it a try since they announced it. Some friends and I decided to give it a try tonight, and I can't stress enough how much we enjoyed it. The bartenders were incredibly friendly, the cocktails were delicious, and the server that waited our table was so nice. I think I've found my new favorite late night cocktail spot. Ten to fifteen years ago, we loved going to Osteria 832 for brunch. Their veggie sausage and mascarpone/fruit compote were out of this world delicious. My husband loves Italian food, so we decided to drop in for a Father's Day dinner. We were sat right away and there was plenty of seating available. Nothing memorable about the service, but that's fine. Here's where the disappointments lie: - husband's cocktail was served up with a gnat swimming in it. Not a gigantic deal, but we did ask to swap for new cocktail. In fact, there were a lot of gnats flying throughout the dining room. Perhaps typical for summertime and just from leaving windows/doors open? -husband loves chicken Parmesan and we've done a pretty decent tour around the city to taste the best chicken parm. Let me tell you without hesitation, this ain't it. Unless you like chicken tenders with forgettable spaghetti and sauce. -meatball app was okay. Heavier on the veal. Two slices of focaccia seemed a bit stingy for three meatballs and sauce sopping. -rigatoni and bolognese was abysmal. Bolognese sauce was destroyed by nutmeg or cinnamon and I couldn't taste anything beyond it. -kid's Mac and cheese was fine. A level above boxed Kraft, but it was pretty watery. The kid's menu was a printed paper with areas to color, but we weren't provided with any crayons. Maybe they were out? Osteria is a great local eat for my girlfriend and I. The pasta and pizza dishes are fantastic, but the real reason I am writing this, is to highlight the Saturday and Sunday brunch. The breakfast sandwich is hands down the best thing that I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Served on focaccia bread, it is savory and delicious. I LOVE this place and we've been dining here for YEARS! We had brunch there recently and it was delicious... a wonderful addition to our neighborhood. The food is always phenomenal and the service is great--usually. Last time we were there we had Ash and we were so unhappy with him. No app plates, no coffee refills, barely came back by the table... and the restaurant was not busy! He had no interest in making sure we enjoyed our meal, or our time at the restaurant. When we asked about fries she said no this is an Italian restaurant and I said oh I had them a month ago at this exact restaurant but oka and she just walked away without acknowledging anyone at the table, the energy and action was like she couldn't serve us anymore and that we were getting a new waitress. She walks back up and says oh we have those on the lounge menu I didn't believe yall since you have been drinking, which we haven't and just got to the restaurant so it's an extremely rude assumption. She then forgets one of our entrees that we ordered, has an attitude whe we mention it. 10 minutes after the other entrees come in she brings the last one and puts down our checks. Thing is as we are served our last entrees and have full drinks. When we are done eating and our drinks are 2/3 of the way done she comes up and asks if we are okay because they have reservations stacking up. We were there for 50 mins in total and didn't feel comfortable drinking one drink let alone 6 of us getting entrees and 3 appetizers for the table. Hi, we're long time patrons of Osteria and its wonderful food. Last night was our first night to visit with the recent renovation. To be honest, I'm not a fan. Looks like there is less seating and patrons are eating in office cubicles. We often come with 8-10 family and friends and not sure if you can still accommodate us. Also heard that you will next be working on the outdoor patio. PLEASE don't cut down the stately crepe myrtles that have been there since the late 70s!! I ordered a glass of Malbec and didn't plan on eating, but after seeing all the delish food coming out, I decided to order the Tuscan fettuccine. My meal was ready in like 15 minutes! The pasta was a huuuuge portion with lots of chicken and a heaping mound of fresh basil on top. I loved every bite, but only made it through about 30% of the dish. I took my leftovers home and they reheated just as well the following day. For the service and the quality of the food, Osteria is very affordable. I'm visiting from out of state and saw this near my Airbnb. The ambience is really nice and the service was so fast. We got our appetizer right after we ordered, and within 5-10 minutes, our meals came out. I read other reviews and saw a consistent complaint about "not enough sauce" in the pastas. I can see what they mean as my chicken fettuccine matched someone else's description of it being more like "butter & salt and a few tablespoons of cream". Despite this, it did taste pretty good, so I like that it wasn't overwhelmingly creamy like other restaurants. I think i would have enjoyed it more if there was a bittt more sauce though. I don't know much about Italian cuisine so I feel like it may be intentional to have light sauces to avoid it being overpowering. I personally enjoyed my food and my time here overall. read more

Cynthia a is this grey short haired lady and every time ive been here has been so rude and forgotten about our table. I could've shoved handfuls of pepperoni in my purse it was so good. My entree was a crab beignet and the lemon piccata pancakes. I treated Mark to lunch here for his birthday and my parents joined us. We typically dine here after attending church nearby at Virginia Highland church so it is convenient. Food and service has been consistently good for us. The noise level can be loud when crowded and when kids are in the dining area indoors. The patio is pleasant and shady even on sunny days. Our food was fresh and delicious. Service was top notch. My one quibble is the bathroom often has a line and on this visit I noticed that they no longer provide a paper towel dispenser in the bathroom, only an electric hand dryer is available. The door handle is a residential circular handle that needs to be grabbed firmly to twist and then push the door open. Touching a door handle after thorough washing of my hands means that I now have to disinfect them at the table with hand sanitizer. I realize that they are being eco friendly however I would like the option to have paper towels to open the door. On this specific visit the handle was greasy and slippery and I cringed after touching it. They don't have full size commercial bathrooms, only two small individual bathrooms. Larger multi person bathrooms can have the door pushed open with my foot or hip. One bathroom is labeled for men and one for women but every time I dine here there are women using the men's room resulting in a line which annoys me. I want to be able to use a bathroom quickly and clean my hands and exit without touching anything. Other than the bathroom quibble we like this place. read more

I am giving the restaurant 3 stars because I was not impressed with the other food that I have tried. Chicken Marsala is my favorite Italian fish but when I ordered it here, it was just blah. Definitely edible, however I would never order it again and contemplated sending it back.. The spaghetti and meatballs was also pretty bland. It was alright but nothing to go out of your way to order. It just tasted like marinara sauce straight out the can.
