    Risotto w/scallops
    Janese C.

I ordered the Risotto Allo Zafferano with scallops for takeout. As soon as I opened the container I could look and see that the risotto was undercooked. And unfortunately, my first bite confirmed it. The risotto was crunchy and grainy, clearly undercooked. The scallops were cooked well and overall the dish's seasoning was average, although a little heavy on the black pepper. They say first impressions are the last, so I'm not sure I'd try this place again.

So this is a nice Italian spot on the beltline. It's about a year old or so, maybe a little bit…read moremore, but it's a really dope vibe. It's ample x and it's inside and outside so you really can't beat that. If you want to sit inside, there's a lot of space and there's nice sized bar. If you want to sit outside, they have tons of that as well. Off the beltline so you know you have to worry about parking if that's what you want to do. But you know how Atlanta is about parking so you can find it in the residential area. Or you can pay to be in the structure very close. I only went for drinks so I didn't actually try the food. But I guess that means I can't give a fully accurate assessment of it. But at the same time the drink in the service was good. We got there earlier then they were open and they still let us sit at the bar and chopped it up until it was time to open and they able to let us order. Super cool though, even a manager came through and chopped it up for a little bit and invited us to sit even before they were seating Anybody. I got a sangria. It's not what I would normally get but whatever lol. I was just on the move from one spot to another and I want to stop in because it was pretty empty. At that point. It was empty because it was not open LOL. The sangria was a white sangria and it had peach up and through there. Peach Red Bull was very pronounced. I want to get that again but they had plenty of other drinks that I want to try. I wasn't trying to go too hard LOL. I would definitely go again. Maybe if I go again in a recent amount of time I'll have a review of the food so we'll see. But even if that's not done by the time I post this, the drink, which was a sangria, and the service was great.

Such delicious, fresh, authentic pasta!…read more Service: Attentive and nice staff. We went for a friend's birthday since last time my friend said she had such a good experience on her birthday, however this time they didn't do anything besides say happy birthday. I won't knock them for that since any birthday perk would be a plus, not an expectation. It is just different from previous experiences. Ambiance: A charming restaurant with coastal vibes on the beltline. We sat outside..so there were quite a lot of little bugs which was not so nice, but I'm sure if we were inside it would have been lovely. The restroom is nice too, quite a moody atmosphere with dim lighting. Fully stocked/amenitied bathroom with mouthwash, floss, lotion. Food (soo good! - see below for detailed reviews) - Pastas: (1) Strozzapreti: The texture of the pasta is just perfect. Al dente, an amazing chew. Definitely hand made tasting! A light, refreshing tomato based pasta sauce with minced italian sausage and a creamy cheese on top. (2) Cacio e Pepe: A very cheesy, slightly sharp flavor. Creamy and again the pasta texture is just amazing. Not very peppery, more sharp pungent cheese forward. - Appetizers: (1) Steak Skewers: Tender, flavorful, juicy steak! Yum (2) Foccacia: Thin, light, and slight crisp on the bottom. A nice sea salt touch on top. Very good.

Finally the right opportunity presented itself and I assembled a merry crew of Yelpers to check it out on a stunningly gorgeous March evening. Chef Mas invites the public in to his backyard each Thursday and prepares an awesome family-style Italian feast for a $25 suggested buy-in. You're welcome to BYOB, but they provide plenty of water to keep you hydrated. You're encouraged to mingle with the other diners, so I wouldn't recommend this for an intimate date night: I'd definitely bring a few friends and just enjoy the ride. As this is someone's home, you may not get all of the amenities you'd find in a restaurant, but I certainly didn't miss them. Picnic tables, tea lights, and the gorgeous Atlanta weather: you can't really beat that, plus the smell of an open fire. The food is also outstanding. We were treated to an incredible caprese-like salad, homemade pasta with veggies, and a steak and liver combo that I can't stop thinking about. This isn't the place for picky eaters-- you may not know what you're digging in to until you're halfway through, but the Chef is happy to work around specific allergies and the like if you tell him in advance. He's also quite personable (a rarity in chefs, I've found) so be sure to carve out some time after your meal to chat with him. And note: this is a slow experience so be prepared to just relax and enjoy your time there. Be sure to make a reservation via facebook/email as he prepares the proper amount for everyone, and don't go flaking. You'll regret it.

One random day I got an invite that was advertising an "eclectic backyard dinner on the beltline" -…read morehow could I say no to that? And don't worry if your google map brings you to a small neighborhood, and the only signs of "Blu Gorilla" are chalked on the side of a wine box - you're in the right place! Chef Massimiliano (Chef Mas) was once an employee at the Italian consulate (or something of the like), but as many of us do, hated his desk job and had other passions. So (as many of us don't) he decided to quit his day job and follow his dreams. He runs his own catering company, and every Thursday hosts a dinner on the beltline for anyone who would love to join him and tastes his creations. The set-up was truly amazing. Lit with tea lights, scattered with bottles of wine and bug spray, the unpretentious atmosphere allowed you to enjoy a wonderful 5-star like meal without having to worry about which fork to use, proper use of etiquette, and forced conversation - everything that comes with dining in a restaurant. Chef Mas's friends were so welcoming too, talked to us and welcomed us like one of their buddies, everyone was so friendly! The backyard setting was perfect for meeting new and interesting people, and allowed us to just relax and enjoy the food for what it was - simple, elegant, and AMAZING. I think what Chef "Mas" and his friends are doing is great, to provide incredible food, bring together great people-and all in an atmosphere that allows the two to create something memorable and magical. and the menu changes every week, and generally comprises of an appetizer, first course, second course, and dessert. This week it says "the menu will be updated after a trip to the market" - how fresh is that? And of course he gladly makes changes ahead of time if you have any food related issues or vegetarian friendly requests. cost is a $25 CASH donation, and BYOB, but they provide some beer and wine for those who forget.
