came for mother's day with a reservation. waited 40 minutes to make the order. our only request was a straw for our 3yo kid, which was forgotten. apps took another 30 mins to come out, and the another 30 for the pastas to come out. couldn't find a person to give me a water refill. tried smiling and eye contact -- nothing. understaffed, i understand. but then they had the audacity to add 20% service charge for a party of four adults and one well behaved 3yo kid. and asked for additional gratuity. on top of that, the food was disappointing in portion and taste. read more

Not only did the staff have champagne ready when we arrived, but we got an amazing complimentary dessert to celebrate my friends birthday!So so classy! My special entree came out with hot & cold food, with warm in between. I think the worst part was our server wanting to warm up the dish for me to take home in addition to telling me to feel the bottom of the plate, I offered him my cold shrimp. I was a server and instead of taking it off of the bill they re-made it (without my say so) for me to take home...I'm still trying to make sense of that. Awful service ; awful "Italian' food We had good experience at Osteria Ama West Chester ; even better at Il Granio in Glen Mills. Then tried this Osteria Ama Chadds Ford - what a terrible experience. Service was non existent ; bordering on intentional neglect....if we were not with other family, we would have walked out to get Domino's! Bread came out 45min after we were seated ; at same time as our other appetizers. Calamari, squid, mussel appetizer was like someone took a can of tomato sauce and covered it on the seafood. 2 pasta entrees ...entrees we had really liked at its sister restaurant were like ...was this the chef's off day? After enduring awful service, the check had a 20% service charge already added (we were 4 adults) and a place to add tips...I don't usually write reviews but am enraged ...people need to know there's something not right at this Osteria Ama! read more

Wanted some Italian and discovered this sweet spot! It's BYOB and super cute inside, cozy and intimate setting. We did not have a resi but we were seated and the service was great! They bring bread to the table perfect warm crusty Italian bread with an amazing oil dip! We started with the Capri tower it had eggplant and was delicious! Had a very delightful date night here, enjoying the ambience and some delicious food. For appetizers, we ordered calamari and crab balls, enjoying them with one of our favorite white wines that we brought with us Both were perfectly prepared, crisp and fluffy on the outside, moist on the inside. Next, we ordered chicken parmigiana and seafood fra diavolo. Both were perfectly portioned and we immensely enjoyed them. The service was good, with a few minor hiccups here in there. Our server was on the Young side so we can probably chalk it up to inexperience. Nothing major, just not quite up to the same standards of the food. The ambience was elegant, but cozy. We got the Calimari, Mussels. and Shrimp as an appetizer. 21$ was extremely overpriced for the portion we got. Flavor was good, and the seafood was all cooked well. For the entrees, the Shrimp Primavera was ok. Penne alla Vodka was the best that we got. Sauce was creamy and flavorful. Gluten free pasta was a good texture. The tortellini short rib was also good. Less flavorful than the penne vodka but overall good. Our server was the waitress, food runner, hostess, and busser. Place was extremely understaffed. The kitchen had an off night - was not what anyone in our party expected, especially those who had visited before. Very nicely designed restaurant and clean. The food was delicious and flavorful, but the portion size of the veal was extremely small on such a large plate. The bread was hot and fresh served with seasoned oil. The margarita pizza was cooked perfectly not floppy, very crisp. Everything was served super hot and fresh. There was a good selection of Italian desserts. The server was kind and had a great memory of our order and was well attentive to the table. I saw a recommendation on nextdoor.com for this place so I thought we should try it out. The place was sorta busy, but we were seated promptly. The atmosphere was nice and the service was good but we were both so underwhelmed by our food. My husbands chicken piccata was small and it came with an even smaller side bowl of penne pasta with no sauce at all. Normally dishes like that are mixed with the pasta so the sauce also coats the pasta, but not there. I ordered the special they had that night that had scallops and shrimp in it. To be fair the waiter was hot but I couldn't understand much of what he said but I heard shrimp and scallops and just nodded and said I'll have that. My bad! LoL All our food was so under seasoned and bland. With so many good Italian restaurants around, I doubt we will go back. read more

Dipping oil and home baked bread rocks! Sausage n broccoli rabe was good - didn't blow me away. Wouldn't not recommend but probably try other apps before ordering again. We went OA for Sunday dinner with some of our friends. The restaurant was nearly empty, so we got seated right away. They have a beautiful interior, delightful ambience and relaxing environment. Their menu is concise with 5-6 items in each section. They also have some special dish of the day. We got scallops for appetizers which were super tasty. Cooked to perfect temperature. For entree I got the special dish of the day, the pan-seared Bronzini. The fish amazing, with a crispy layer of the skin. It was served on top of some yummy paste/sauce. I came here with my family last weekend for dinner, and we had an overall good meal. It's BYOB, and the ambiance is very no-frills; we chuckled that they still had their holiday garland up. However, the authentic Italian food made up for the unexciting vibes. To start, I ordered the artichokes appetizer. It was served over asparagus and covered in parmesan and creamy lemon aioli. This is absolutely a must-order veggie dish. My family also ordered the octopus appetizer, which was served in a spicy red sauce - such a nice kick! I thought these appetizers were better than my main course. And that brings me to the penne alla vodka. The sauce was very flavorful, but some noodles tasted a little undercooked. It wasn't the best penne alla vodka dish I've ever had, but it wasn't terrible either. I just wouldn't order it again. My mom ordered the sea bass special, and I wish I would've ordered that instead. Even though my entree was underwhelming, the delicious appetizers and quick, attentive service made up for it. I'm sure we'll visit again for dinner at some point. read more

Loved this little Italian BYOB restaurant. Even on a slow Monday night, there were a few tables filled which was a good sign. I ordered an artichoke appetizer and a Cesar salad with grilled salmon. Visited Osteria AMA after a nice day at Longwood Gardens. The interior space was lovely, and tables were well spaced with easily movable dividers set up between them. Everything was well cooked, but several dishes lacked oomph. The branzino was excellent and the crab cakes were pretty good. Spinach with chickpea that accompanied the branzino and the calamari appetizer (which included some shrimp) both lacked salt/pepper/seasoning. The sauce served with the calamari helped. The seafood and black pasta shell special was pretty good but teetered on the edge of being salty. We found the base of the pizza funghi also lacking in flavor, except for the salty bites of olive and capers on top. Service was timed well. read more

Here for a birthday dinner for a friend. First time for us and we'll be back. Nice surprise. Apps were Caesar salad for which we had to ask for more dressing and all the lettuce was the white part. Calamari was good but a little chewy. Crab cakes were described as bland. Crab capellini got a thumbs up. The two specials which were homemade fusilli pasta with prawns, shrimp and scallops in a buttery sauce was very good. All I can think about days after my experience here is how the service was dismal and the food was perplexing. In terms of service: We had to flag down random servers to get more water and an order of chicken tenders and fries for the children that were with us. I had to go get a wine glass off the shelf myself because we were short at the table and no one was paying attention to us. The food that was good was really good. I greatly enjoyed the grilled artichokes with goat cheese and the crab balls. The eggplant caprese was OK but the tomatoes were hard. Unfortunately there were too many menu errors/omissions for my liking. For starters, my brother-in-law ordered the salami pizza which was supposed to come with salami, olives, and onion. When it arrived it only had salami on it. When it came time to order dessert we were told that they didn't have any vanilla creme brulee left, but they still had chocolate. So my sister-in-law ordered that, only for all the desserts to be delivered to the table and her to be told that they were out of that, too. However, the chef prepared "something special" for her. While the item was tasty it really wasn't explained to us what was in the damn thing, so I still don't know what the heck it was that they gave her as a substitute. When I got my cheesecake I was shocked to find it was filled to the brim with coconut. I like coconut but isn't that something you'd put on the menu/tell people about? A regular slice of cheesecake definitely does not usually have coconut in it. Lastly, I ordered a hot tea with my dessert and they gave me a peppermint tea bag. I expected a plain black tea but they didn't even give me the choice and I didn't notice what it was until I ripped the package open. Who gives someone peppermint tea when they didn't choose it? The whole experience left me confused. The food was decent enough, but the ambiance, service, and clarity of the menu left a bit to be desired. read more

The ambiance was nice and definitely attracted an older crowd. The staff was not that friendly and was kinda stand off ish. Could've been because I didn't match the crowd. When asking for dessert and it came down to ordering he failed to mention there was no ice cream and what the dessert of the day was. The bread had the same consistency of a fresh baguette. great texture but nothing special. I got the crab bite starter and it was crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside with crab lumps. Not a paté and isn't heavily breaded. pretty good. The risotto was probably the best thing out of everything I had there. The risotto was original and really stuck out on the menu and it had a balanced herbal taste to it that wasn't too overwhelming. The seafood in it was perfectly tender and not over cooked. The dessert was probably the worst thing there. I ordered the tiramisu dessert and it tasted nothing like tiramisu. the custard had the consistency and taste of whipped cream which was 80% of the dessert and the rest was cake that was tough and dry. I gave it only 2 stars for several reasons. I felt rushed, as the waters/ waitresses were rushing around serving food. It made for a nervous environment. The waitress did not offer to open / pour our wine, where in other BYOB's that is what is expected. We had a pleasant waitress, but no identity. (She did not give us her name) Did not ask if it was our first visit, just ask if we wanted to hear the additions to the menu. I had to ask for napkins & flatware.. The food came within 10 minutes, which I was surprised, since it was very busy. She did stop to ask if everyone was "ok", after a few minutes. The food / sauce was very good. My husband had ordered spaghetti with shrimp. Found his spoon under all the spaghetti, soaked with sauce. He was not impressed. Not sure if we will return. read more

This is a nice BYOB that I have been to two times. You can tell that the pasta is fresh and hand made by the chewiness. This is the second time I ordered a risotto and I feel like they do not cook it down as much. It is a lot of chewing for the harder grains of rice. The flavor is so good though. The first time I was there, I asked them to cook it down more. The second time, I took it home and cooked it down more. I believe this is their style of cooking it. Next time when I order, I will just ask them to cook it down more than they do normally. The squid ink pasta was so nice and chewy in texture. I believe my favorite dish was the Sausage Fusilli Lunghi. The noodles were nice and spirally. The sausage was delicious. A generous amount of greens. The desserts were delightful.
