The service was great. That's where the good part ends. For the price of this place the food should have been stellar. I ordered scallops. They were cooked perfectly, sadly they were drenched in a spicy sauce, like mole and it was not very good. I had to scrape it off to enjoy the scallops. Hubs ordered branzino. I realize branzino is an oily fish, but his was excessively oily and not good at all. I ordered a Tito's and soda that may as well have been soda. Hubs had Manhattan the was very red when it arrived. It was overly sweet and he didn't like it at all. So many choices for food in Santa Fe. This was awful. read more

We consider ourselves Italian snobs because we live right by a huge Italian neighborhood, so it's really hard to wow us. Osteria D' Assisi was perfection! We had the Zucchini Blossom and just wow! Not like anything I've ever had before. If you can imagine the lightest, most airy fluff of cheese with a thin airy batter - so good! Entrees were the fish special - I can't remember what the fish was, but it was very mild and my husband loved it. I had the scallops and as I do not like chipotle sauce, the chef made me the lemon butter sauce on the side. This combined with the polenta was absolutely amazing! The scallops were small but perfectly seared. We were too full for dessert, so we will be back before the end of our trip! Thank you for a wonderful meal. A beautiful place, the staff is attentive and charming. The food, however? Mediocre at best when I was there recently. I had a marvelous time with my friends, but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the tuna tar tar and there was barely any tuna there, just plain. Under-seasoned throughout. For main course I ordered the lobster ravioli (the pasta was overcooked), the filling was definitely lobster but under-seasoned, barely any salt. My tiramisu was quite good. But my dinner companions who ordered various gelatos and/or sorbets for dessert were shocked to see that the ice cream arrived melted - really soupy- after a polite complain, the chef comp'd us for all the desserts. We met some guys from Port Aransas who also have a house in SF. They recommended and did not disappoint. We missed the small bite happy hour so got a wonderful table inside in the back corner. Nice and quiet for the 4 of us. Great server, very nice and attentive. We started with the squash blossom appetizer. Delicious. The wife had the seafood special - saffron pasta, lobster, scallops, etc. She was in heaven. I had the veal piccata, very tender and tasty, served with fresh veggies. Aldo had a nice Nibbiolo bottle of wine. Great place and wasn't too crowded on Labor day weekend. Sorry no food pics. We jumped in too fast. read more

We were passing by driving back to Texas and had two things in mind, visiting a basilica and eating at an Italian restaurant and both did not disappoint. This restaurant was delicious and the size of each order was not outrageous so the food was satisfying and perfect serving size. We got a Chicken Parmesan which was not on the menu but they did it for us and a lasagna. It was a great experience! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and makes you feel like you're in Italy. The service was okay, the waiter was nice but it is the only thing that could be improved a bit. It was a bit slow at times to place an order. The reviews were mixed for this place but we wanted Italian food so we decided to give it a try. Glad we did! It was excellent. We walked over from our hotel so we were a little early. They seated us at a nice table in a room with a fireplace. Very nice ambiance. Our server Stephanie went over the specials and answered any questions we had. We both had the special (beef tenderloin). It was delicious. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with our meal. Saturday night dinner reservations for 2 at an outside table. Arrived promptly at 7P, to be told there were no available tables outside and if I wanted to wait, it would be 30 minutes. So much for reservations. We took a table indoors reluctantly. Appetizer course of fried calamari was just OK. Wouldn't order again. My Linguini Scoglio with Scallops and Shrimp arrived sans Shrimp but with an unannounced calamari substitute. Had I known this, I wouldn't have has the calamari appetizer. My wife's Farro Risotto with Lobster was very good and she was very pleased with her choice. Dessert was a small chocolate mocha cake (tart sized) which we shared. Both of our dishes were mediocre and swimming in oil but that was not the worst part. I was assured by my server, Mike, and the runner delivering my dish that the pasta was gluten free. It was definitely NOT! After my usual reaction when exposed to gluten which is vomiting and diarrhea most of the night, we returned the next day to speak with the manager, Jay. At first, he appeared disinterested and distracted, looking over my shoulder, and not making eye contact. His comment was "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Really? This was way more than an inconvenience! We only got his attention after I got upset, and explained in detail what I went through. Then, he handled the situation as a manager should by apologizing and refunding our money. We asked to speak to the chef but was told that would not be possible. The chef, however, heard of the problem and came out to show me the bag of gluten free flour that he supposedly used. When I explained that I was sure I received something else, he looked at me like like was lying. Even after I explained my reaction and what I went through, he would not even entertain the idea that he could have possibly made a mistake. He did not care! He should be fired! Now I know why the manager did not want me to talk to the chef. He made it way worse. The ambiance is nice but that is all I can say positive about this restaurant. read more

We've wanted to eat here for years. Finally, we drove by & we were hungry. We were seated on the lovely, tiny patio out front. They allowed us to have our well-behaved dog under our table, though I don't think this is the norm? :) There was a nice breeze; our server was sweet and attentive. I hate to say it, but I was not overwhelmed with the food. The bread was dry, a bit "grainy," a bit hard, so it tasted like day-old bread. The salad with watermelon was delicious and a GOOD- sized portion. My lasagna bolognese was "meh". Not bad, but definitely wasn't anything to write home about. I'd probably go back for a glass of wine & salad, but, sadly, at their price point, I know there are better choices for dinner. read more

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. $42 for a flavorless scampi pasta in tepid tasteless tomato water that looked like it was prepared by a five-year-old. Dry stale warmed over bread. Second, if you know you've got an emergency situation in your kitchen, don't screw over your waitstaff and customers by keeping this hidden: just tell people as they come in, "There will be a very long wait for your food, we understand if you need to go somewhere else but we hope you have time to stay." Don't try to serve more customers than your staff can handle! Backstory: we had a concert after our meal so we were on a schedule, which we let them know. But 30 minutes after being seated, all we had was bread and water. Fifteen minutes before we had to be at the concert, they finally confessed our meal was not going to arrive. We went to listen to Tucker the piano player tonight and he was great! Unfortunately...he was the only good thing about the night. Our server Vince was absolutely horrible! We ordered a salad to share and the special of the night..."Halibut" like normal we paid to split both! What a joke...we have never seen a smaller piece of fish and a table spoon size of mashed potatoes and two small carrots...the caesar salad was maybe two pieces of lettuce no cheese and two or three croutons...a total joke. The fish was totally over cooked luke warm and the mashed potatoes and carrots were below average although it was seriously like two bits of potatoes and four bits of fish! Vince was telling how no one goes here anymore...I wonder why! We were charged every fee they could possibly charge us! our bill was $ 163.00 for One salad one entree and four glasses of wine. And the food and service were horrible! It was my first time here and my friend's first time back in years! Neither one of us would ever return nor would we ever recommend. The atmosphere here is fun, we came for a staff dinner and we got to sit upstairs in a circle family style table. Our waiter was efficient in getting orders in and communicating to us on how everything was going. The drinks were better than the food. I got an eggplant parm, the eggplant part was good. The noodles were a little hard though. One of my coworkers wasn't a huge fan of the tomato soup either. We also tried their desserts and that was better than our meal. I ate at Osteria D' Assisi about 8 years ago, and the food was delicious. My husband and I returned a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn't the same experience we had 8 years ago. The first red flag was that on Open Table, they had so many open reservations for a Saturday night. I did think twice but still decided to give it a shot. The staff was nice and friendly at first. Our bread was hard, the calamari was mediocre, along with an okay Caesar salad. What was truly disappointing was my Salmon plate. It was not fully cooked, and they took it back to the kitchen, and it took around 15 minutes for my dish to return for my salmon to be still not be fully cooked. I was already tired and not interested in them giving it another try. I asked my waiter if he could take the meal off our bill. He said yes, but became super moody with my husband and me. We asked for some coffee and tiramisu, which was also okay, nothing special. My husband had the pasta special, and it was actually really good. But not good enough for us to ever return. We made a reservation ahead of time for Christmas Eve and was expected to be greeted with the usual menu they had on their site and Yelp. The hosts didn't inform us regarding the menu change for Christmas Eve. It was a $109 per person three-course meal which was way more than we were expecting compared to their usual menu. They even charge a $50 penalty fee if you decide to cancel the reservation or don't show up. Ridiculous. They had an option to order the courses separately on the menu charging $25 per appetizer, $59 per entree, and $25 per dessert. We decided to go with that option without desserts. Portions were extremely small and the soup was way too salty. Near the end of our meal, everytime the waiter passes by he would ask us "Dessert?" in a really loud obnoxious voice. Even when we asked for the check he just simply took our credit card straight to the register and processed it. No check was presented. read more

Our group of 7 had reservations at 6 PM and were promptly seated. The restaurant has a nice cozy decor and an outdoor patio. Nick our server thoroughly explained the menu and specials. On this evening they were doing a brisk business and the servers were in high gear. Entrees ordered were: Tuna, Pork Loin, Veal Piccata, Lasagna and Osso Bucco. One of the Tuna's was under cooked and another overcooked. Both were returned to the kitchen and corrected. The Pork Loin was a tough piece of meat and was refused. The bill could only be paid with 2 credit cards and there were mistakes in the distribution of food items. A complementary dessert was provided as compensation. read more

Scallop carbonara is good. Staffs are friendly, the decor is outdated. But mushroom ravioli is HARD - either undercooked or old. And kids' pasta is straight out of the jar with bad quality spaghetti. Why so bad ?? The kid won't eat it and I am confident our dog won't either. It's underwhelming. read more

We ate here Saturday July 19th. Our waitress informed us that it was her 2nd night but assured us she was a veteran wait person & things would be good. They weren't. We waited an incredible amount of time for our entrees & at one point someone came & asked me what I had ordered. He left & we continued to wait. Then the waitress shows up to tell my daughter that they were out of the dish she ordered. This was very early in the evening - about 6::30 so it's very confusing to be out of an entree that early. What made it worse was the waitress decided to dump on the kitchen staff & the lack of communication blaming it on a language barrier. It was very uncomfortable & she was totally out of line. My daughter reordered & it still took quite some time for the food to arrive. The owner stopped by our table at one point & I purposefully didn't mention our terrible experience so far to see if he would. He didn't. He was totally unaware. At the end the waitress continued to diss the kitchen & only offered to buy us dessert. We declined as we were just ready to get out of there. My daughter knows one of the chefs & he speaks perfect English. The waitress blaming a lack of communication contains no merit. read more

This is my second attempt to eat here. First I was turned away and tonight I arrived about 730 and was about to be turned away host said that there were probably no tables. This place is small, I whipped out my yelp and suddenly the empty place had a table. Not sure if POC or children are not welcome but I stayed only because I was starving. It is pricey and they did have kids me menu. The place remained fairly empty. This will be my first and last visit and I'm quite the food. So my 5 year old ordered spaghetti with meat sauce as deceived on menu I was billed 16.95 because it has meat---review kids menu did I miss something? The food was tasty but the transparency of things were not so obvious. I don't mind paying for what I order but really my lil 5 year old 16.95 for spaghetti? My 6 year olds plate for fettuccini 14.95 I guess 5.00 for chicken.. I ate a side salad--overall very pricey and unclear about the pricing and who is welcome here. read more

Located a couple blocks from historic downtown Santa Fe Plaza, this elegant restaurant is named after the town in Italy where Santa Fe's Saint was born. The owner, from Lake Como, is committed to serving authentic Italian cooking. They installed our group of 14 upstairs, in a private room nicely decorated, and we were seated around a big square table, making conversation easier. Staff were incompetent and manager was a piece of work who appears to not care about quality and effective training of staff on basic service skills.
