Our first dinner in Sante Fe started off great. The staff is is really nice and welcoming. The interior is small with tables fairly close. You can clearly hear conversations at each table from where we sat. That's my only complaint. On to the food. The menu is great. Our starters were the stuffed squash blossoms that we flash fried. We then had the Spanish Octopus with the lamb sausage and homemade humus. The chickpeas were roasted and provided a nice semi-smokey flavor profile humus. For the entree, my wife had the diver scallops with lobster and black "forbidden" rice. I had the duck dish. Both were very good. Our wine with dinner was a 2022 French Burgundy. It went well with the starters and entrees. We finished with a really nice key lime pie. It was one of the best we had. Not too tangy or sweet. Just perfect. Terracotta sold recently to Chef/Owner, Jose Rodriguez. It was good and consistent before but he has upped the bar with flavor and presentation. This restaurant has been a great place for me to squeeze in as a solo diner for quite a few years. This evening was superb. So amazing that I had to take photos and send to my friends and say, "Eat Here". I had seared crusted salmon with some delicate fresh veggies like baby garden peas and on a bed of quinoa. Dessert was impeccable but light and flavored perfectly. Coconut ice cream with fresh berries and coconut crumble. There was an amazing presentation on both items but not too much to over adorn great flavors. So I say to you "Eat Here!" read more

Parking was scarce, so be careful not to park where a permit is required. A small venue with a new owner in the past year and a changed menu, so all the older reviews no longer apply. We had the charcuterie board which was good, but the baguette slices were toasted rock hard. I found it a bit pricy. Very welcoming. The crab cakes were pretty good, though not as authentic as the previous owners did them (one of the previous owners was from the Baltimore area). They were beautifully plated though. My friend had the stuffed poblano peppers with mole. He liked it but wished it had been chicken with the mole. I had the lamb tagine that was very good. He had the tiramisu and I had the chocolate sphere for dessert. We had Aprazol Spritzers to start. All good. The bill was a bit pricey, but that's Santa Fe. Good service. read more

Near downtown Santa Fe, this is an intimate, upscale casual bistro with a diverse wine menu, outstanding apps, salads, soups (particularly the French Onion soup and lobster bisque.) More treats await with entrees such as the pork schnitzel and flounder. If you're fortunate, as we were, your server will be Janet. We were visiting Santa Fe for Labor Day weekend. When we first arrived, we were a bit disappointed to hear the new owners had not yet secured their liquor license so the "Wine Bistro" portion of the restaurant name wasn't being offered at the time. That disappointment was short-lived, however, when the octopus we ordered as an appetizer. I've sampled many different octopus dishes and have never been more impressed with the combination of savory ingredients. The meat of the octopus melted in our mouths. I ordered the duck breast and my wife ordered the scallops. Every dish included its own delectable mixture of flavors that just worked. Can't emphasize how much people need to flock to this restaurant to try their menu. I will definitely be back! read more

We went to Terracotta for Valentine's Day with high expectations, but unfortunately left disappointed and won't be returning. For the price point, the meal simply didn't deliver. The prix fixe menu looked very appealing on paper, but the execution was lacking. My partner's pork belly appetizer was excellent and definitely the highlight of the night. However, my crab salad tasted more like tuna than crab and had no seasoning or elements to enhance the flavor, it was very bland. For our entrées, we both ordered the tenderloin with lobster mac and cheese. This was the biggest letdown. The mac and cheese tasted like processed cheese and completely overpowered the dish, and we could neither taste nor really find any lobster. Dessert was mixed as well, the macarons placed on top of the ice cream made them hard and difficult to enjoy, although the mousse bomb was very good. Drinks were also well done. Overall, we had one strong appetizer, one good dessert, and good drinks, but the rest of the meal did not match the cost. At this price level, we expected much better quality and balance. Our first night in Santa Fe (A Monday )and I searched for dog friendly restaurants with patios and lucked out with TerraCotta Wine Bistro! I called at 5:00 and they had space for 2 on the patio and booked a time for 7:15. It exceeded my expectations. Charming and Sublime with a neighborhood feel are words that come to mind. It was a true dining experience! My pork snitzel was great and my husbands pasta dish was also. Prices were fair for such a great experience. Weather was 78 and breezy, the rose garden attracted humming birds, soft Nora Jones type music and, our waitress was so professional and friendly. The hostess even brought our dog a water bowl. So happy they were open on a Monday and our first meal in Santa Fe was so delicious. I could envision this being our regular place if we lived here. read more

Yes you want to get the onion rings--the best I have ever had in the West. The bruschetta--a wide range of choices there with creative combinations. Impressive. We also enjoyed bowls of robust smoked salmon crowder. What we didn't enjoy was being treated in a third class manner. I get it. I'm older, from out of down, and made online reservations. But hey that's the same at places all across the country and never, when I have made 6 pm dinner reservations, have I then been put in the bar. I immediately questioned the seating and was brusquely told "we consider this part of the dining room." Right. Seating right at entrance, facing the bar, being waited on by the bartender ( who was solid BTW). Heads up to the owners. When you seat someone at the bar and they are served by the bartender, not a waiter/waitress, YOU ARE NOT IN DINING ROOM. So disappointing. Local friends recommended this place, saying you will love the dining room. I'll have to tell them--hey that space is for you. Us old visitors are set at the front door so we can leave ASAP and never see the dining room. read more

What a cute little restaurant! When I walked inside and saw the warm and cozy space, I wasn't expecting a large wine wine selection. I was wrong! They have an impressive wine list for any size restaurant and quite a few by the glass. We happened to get there before 6pm, so we got to take advantage of the $6 for a glass before 6pm deal. It felt like a family run restaurant (which it may be, but it was our first time here and we didn't ask) with very warm and friendly service, My husband and I started with the warm shrimp, ricotta and caramelized corn dip, served with house made potato chips. Talk about a comforting dish. We went through the potato chips and they generously offered us some more. My husband ordered his rib eye rare and it was exactly as he ordered it. The steak was flavorful and tender (prime cut) the oven roasted potatoes and veggies were well seasoned and tasty. I ordered the special of the day, mussels with white wine sauce. It was a cooked well, but I felt it lacked flavor. Maybe some chopped fresh tomatoes or crushed red pepper or something to spice it up. Either way, it was good. While staying at the Eldarado in Stanta Fe for the last three days we have walked the same route out of the hotel. We planned on eating dinner at the Shed, but when we headed to dinner, I said lets go right instead of left. Not far from the Eldarado we stumbled into the Tera Cotta. The restrauant is quaint and intimate. The service was good, the food was good. I had the pork schnitzel which was excellent. Loved the capers and red cabbage. The Yukon Gold potatos were excellent. I was invited to dinner here by a good friend that knows their way around Santa Fe, and we had a fabulous experience - everything was completely awesome! We arrived just in time for our reservation, and were seated promptly. Service was totally on-point, with our waiter expertly balancing his attentions between being attentive and being intrusive. The ambiance was nice (linens and candles) without being over-the-top fancy, and there was nice background music playing that filled the silence without impairing our ability to converse. Service and ambiance are all well and good, but for a five star experience the food needs to be exceptional, and TWB did not disappoint! We shared everything family style to maximize our enjoyment of the dishes on their menu. To begin our meal, we ordered a cheese plate and the Bloody Mary Flank Steak. The former had four delicious cheeses, plus olives, grapes, and crackers; the latter was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and very tasty. For our next course we got the crab cake and the bruschetta, accompanied by a generous helping of onion rings. Both of mains were throughly enjoyable, but to be honest the were almost overshadowed by the onion rings - those Bad Boys were so beautifully seasoned and completely delicious that I almost swooned at my first taste ;-) To accompany our dinner we shared a bottle of Zinfandel that our waiter recommended. It paired wonderfully with our food, had very soft tannins, and was surprisingly affordable as well :-) By the end of the meal we were so delightfully full that could muster only enough additional appitite to share one dessert. It was the perfect finish to a fabulous culinary experience. I wouldn't hesitate to return here for another meal, and recommend it highly! read more

I dined here with great anticipation after management changed. I always enjoyed it before. My friends and I started by ordering drinks, only to discover they did not have the drink I ordered (Baileys) and did not have scotch for my friend. I have to assume they only have a wine and beer license but I'm not sure. I ordered the Lamb Tagine. I've traveled to Morocco and had Tajine many times and expected something like lamb stew within the Tagine crockery dish. A white porcelain Tagine dish was served, but inside instead of cubes of lamb, was a lamb shank. This tasted good, but was very difficult to eat having to cut meat off the huge bone. I was disappointed with the effort it took, never having eaten it this way in Morocco. My friends ordered the duck breast and all were disappointed that it was sliced and not crispy on the outside and was quite pink on the inside. We also tried the tiramisu and but it was quite dry. We had coffee and discovered they did not have half-and-half for the coffee, only milk. The service was good and the waiter was accurate with how to split the bill amongst friends We will likely not return. read more

Chris and I dined here for an early Sunday night dinner. We found this restaurant yesterday after spending time at the adjacent Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. The restaurant is in a historic home with beautiful gardens and patio dining in front and in the rear of the restaurant. We had been outside the majority of the day so we chose to dine in the front dining area. We didn't have reservations so we chose to arrive at 5pm to be sure we wouldn't have to wait. We arrived to see only a few patrons. The interior dining area is beautiful and we loved the decor. The hostess and server Emily were friendly and service was attentive during our meal. They offer a three course prix fixe meal for $35 dollars. I ordered this menu and chose the chilled watermelon cucumber and feta cheese soup, the ratatouille in a pepper entree and the blueberry compote in a jar dessert. My food was flavorful and delicious. Portion sizes were generous and was stuffed after my meal. Chris ordered the chicken schnitzel and said it was delicious. It was also generous in size. Next time we will choose to order from the shared plates section of the menu for smaller portions and more variety. The tables around us made meals from the shared plates choices. Because we dined on a Sunday evening the parking situation was easy and we parked for free at one of the adjacent closed businesses. Busier evenings may require paying to for parking in an adjacent lot. We highly recommend this restaurant!!! read more

This is a mixed review. The Grilled Octopus appetizer was terrific - by far the best in Santa Fe. The Lamb Tagine was very good, although a bit tough and there was very little sauce. One of my favorite restaurants I visited in Santa Fe on my mini vacations. Turns out the friend I was staying with lives right down the street from the owner(s) and chef. The restaurant itself is cute and homey. The chef came out and said hello to welcome us. We started with some of the best onion rings I have ever had. They were: light, hot, crispy and delightful! I could eat them every day! It was restaurant week and I selected the salad, the pork schnitzel and the chocolate mousse. (my man had the salmon soup, the short rib shepard's pie and the peach trifle). SO MUCH FOOD, but all delicious. The schnitzel came with potatoes and some purple sauerkraut with apples. My server was awesome. It's kinda funky walking into places asking for a table for one and he was super nice. Order the bruschetta board! The crab one was so rich and delicious, waiter recommended it when I asked him to pick my 4th choice. I got the gig and Brie, yes. The peach and smoky Gouda didn't agree with me, the strawberry and goat cheese was tangy, this goat cheese was funky, in a good way, I love me some funk but if you don't, hard pass. My waiter was great, I had two glasses of wine he helped me pick. The off thing for me.. there was a frumpy blonde lady with a long pony tail that worked here but did nothing while I was there. She had a laptop set up at a table in the front. Another solo female diner wandered in at 7pm and asked for a table for one and she was denied. From what I heard "the chef turned off the heat and nothing warm would be warm for another 30 minutes. Establishment closes at 8pm and the other solo lady said as such and walked away. It was uncomfortable and in my eyes lazy of the woman in pink that wasn't lifting a finger anyway... I finished up my drinks and app at 7:40 and was asked if I would like dessert so to not seat that woman is beyond me. My waiter Erasmo handled all 4-5 tables while I was there and he was awesome. read more

The bruschetta, YUM. What a great way to start a meal, an assortment of bruschetta that they even so nicely cut in half for the 2 of us to try all 4 pieces. There were a million things I wanted to try but I wanted to keep it light and got the beet and orange salad. My boyfriend got the fried chicken which was delicious and we shared a bottle of wine. The porcupine wine! Also very good. I love the rose bushes out front and the adorable interior. There's also tables on the patio which is where we sat. I don't understand the majority of diners in Fanta Se or the 'tourists' that think a "presentation" restaurant is at all good in the southwest. By "presentation" I mean the food is minimal & presented at the highest level of artistic expression. First off, we couldn't understand our Mexican waiter! Big no-no! I basically had to disassemble my Cesar just to eat it, which had a very tiny piece of Spanish anchovy!! Oh boy! Barely any dressing as well. I paid $56 for the worst scallops I've ever had! Here's some advice for the chef/owner.....Chimayo red powder on something as delicate as scallops is stupid & bush league! The teeny tiny piece of lobster was a f'n joke too! My friends tomahawk pork chop was very dry. BTW.....that's not a tomahawk!!!! I used to go there when the nice New York lady owned it & it was much different....they actually served according to price point! I enjoy tasting food after it's been in the fridge overnight, there's a delicacy to it. This place is just as disappointing as Geronimo's & the Compound & Sazon!!!The only few places in Fanta Se that are worth going to is the Bullring and La Choza. Thanks anyway, but I'm boycotting & telling as many people as I can to just forget about Santa Fe until they treat customers fairly! read more

W-O-W. Maybe the best meal I've ever had. We came for a three course Thanksgiving dinner. We made a reservation several weeks in advance. It was very pricey ($48 for adults, $24 for kids), but still probably the best Thanksgiving deal you'll get in town. We sat in a perfect corner. The dining room was dim and perfect for a romantic meal (even though we had our whole family there). For the first course, we had butternut squash soup. Creamy and a unique flavor. I had turkey for the main meal, which came with cornbread stuffing, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The turkey was a bit dry, but tasty nonetheless. Others had a huge piece of NY strip steak. I tried it and it was moist and juicy. My son didn't like either entree option, so the owner came out and offered to make him a special chicken dinner. The gesture was so kind and unexpected. We will never forget it. For dessert, the chocolate pecan pie was sweet and delicious. The crust was flaky. The ice cream on the side completed the dish perfectly. I ate way more than I probably should have, but left not feeling too full. Truthfully, at home, we don't have real Thanksgiving dinners. As our first true Thanksgiving, it was absolutely perfect. Cool little place in Santa Fe, they do not serve cocktails but do have a really good selection of beer and wine. Food was yummy, service was great, would recommend to friends visiting Santa Fe. Only complaint we had was the parking, which was minimal except for the paid spots down the street. read more
