Terrific dinner in a quiet corner of Trastevere. We had prosciutto, mozzarella and arugula for an appetizer and fillet mignon with porcini and arugula/tomato salad. All was delicious, but the steak was too rare for my husband's taste. The waiter quickly returned with a well-done steak with roasted potatoes added to the plate. We loved the quiet, private table, as we had been fully embracing crowds of humanity all day. This was a welcomed respite. Highly recommend. read more

Tried to rip me off by adding a charge not listed. Confronted them and they initially denied a mistake saying it's normal, after asking why it was not listed they refunded the overcharge. Some of the food was mediocre, some was ok. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Delicious food and beverages with attentive and very polite staff. We arrived late last night before closing and had a pleasant, tasty light meal of lasagna and wine. Returned the next evening for a full course meal of filet, pasta and Greek salad with several wines. We are staying nearby, the staff helped bring our bags up to our airbnb, and would not take a tip! We have eaten here twice, the wait staff is wonderful, very polite and helpful. The first night we had a pasta with porticini, and lasagna. Very nice! The second night, on the advice of the waiter, we had a filet with green pepper sauce, a greek salad and a pasta with short rigatoni, tomato sauce, pancetta and pecorino cheese. All was delicious!!! And for dessert, tiramisu and lemon gelato. Finished with complimentary limoncello, what more could you want? Oh, and a free Prosecco before ordering dinner. Friendly server... Speaks excellent English. I came here for dinner one night and enjoyed what I consider typical Italian dinner. I was actually looking for another place I knew from previous visit but a server's "Buonasera" was so inviting, somehow I decided to try here. I started with one of their homemade pasta. Simple homemade pasta with shellfish. First bite, I knew I was back in Italy. Just love that al dente texture. For a main dinner, I ordered lamb. First bite, I didn't like it. I asked a kind server to take it back and let me order something else. My grilled salmon was so juicy and lots of salmon oil, really enjoyed never been frozen grilled salmon. In stead of desert, I had limoncello. (After I finished a half bottle of wine). This was the first meal in Rome during this trip. May not be the best but pretty good food. I enjoyed my dinner while sitting next to the outdoor heaters (kept me warm the whole time). read more

Love this place - it's my absolute favorite in Roma. I discovered it in 2016 when I was studying abroad and came every week! The food and atmosphere is amazing. The staff is INCREDIBLE. I've come back a few times, even bring friends or family to Rome, and they always remember me! I love the wait staff and owner. The food is always fresh and high-quality. I have never had a bad dish. It is presented beautifully and full of flavor. So Italian! It is located near Piazza di Spagna, and steps away from popular stores! It is clean and beautiful all the time. Tucked away down a side road, easily missed, is this gem of a restaurant. A fun restaurant. The fun being made by a rather flamboyant server. A great guy. But, we are here to talk about the restaurant. Being in Rome for a short stay we visited this gem twice which answers the question. The first time was brilliant but the second visit was as if we were old friends. Drinks orders were taken and these arrived very promptly although the order of vodka on ice took a little time to get through. OK, I am weird as I never have a mixer. However, this normally means that I get a larger vodka so I am not complaining. The house wine ordered was really fruity and extremely palatable. We decided to go seafood this evening and we ordered pasta with lobster. The waiter asked is we liked seafood and said that he would have a chat with the chef and make sure there were extra mussels etc with the pasta. We have had lobster pasta before and the pasta had a smattering of lobster meat stirred in with it. This time, WOW, wonderful, homemade, pasta with slightly tomato sauce but.....but.......half a lobster each, two massive prawns in shell, one langoustine in shell, masses of mussels, loads of clams and chopped octopus. All cooked to perfection. So much. We finished with gelato and coffee and brandy. Price was surprisingly low for what we had eaten. Loved the place and I would advise anyone to hunt around, find this restaurant and give it a go. If you find it, say hello from us. read more

This is a hidden secret - the place on the corner seems to get most of the business but you really should stop in here!!!! My mom and I ate here a few times while staying in Rome. It was our "local" spot right across from our apartment and we got to know the guys pretty well! Not only was the food good but the staff was fun to talk with and say hi to on a daily basis!! Great family atmosphere and fresh tasty food, I had the best filet here and I was traveling for a month! Overall - great salads, yummy pizza and everything had it's own flavor!!! I will say when the tables are outside it seems to have more business, and don't let it fool you if there aren't a lot of people! It is worth stopping in and enjoying a meal. Food was mediocre and staff was helpful but in desperate need of deodorant or an actual shower. We ordered the clams and mussels as an appetizer and it smelled very fishy. I did not try it but my husband said the clams were good but the mussels tasted old. It did not taste fresh. I ordered the Saltimbocca which was ok and my husband ordered the baked leg of lamb. He was expecting an actual leg of lamb but received slices of lamb. He said it was good but that it tasted more like beef than lamb. When we asked for the check, the waiter also added a 10% tip to the bill. I thought Europeans can't do that but apparently this one did. Watch out guys, this place is not worth your time nor the 10% tip. read more

Couldn't quite get myself up to giving them 3 stars. We knew this was more of a tourist place right away, so we knew what we were getting into from the start, but the food and service dropped that 3rd star. Prices were fair and could even be considered reasonable at dinner time as Italy restaurants go in a major city. From the start the person who prodded us to take a table was good. Our server a few minutes later was more adept in pushing certain options with the menu to perhaps provide a more complete meal, but his motives felt more like trying to upsell and part you of more money than your stomach really needed. Both my wife's and son's tomato based pasta sauce tasted like they came from a can of Ragu. No, not the glass bottles good stuff...the crappy cheap tomato sauce you remember Mom using in the late 70's/early 80's (if you grew up in the USA you know what I'm talking about). The meat and cheese plate was okay, but small on portions compared to 2 weeks of other Italy and France versions. My daughter's pepperoni pizza actually had a great spicy pepperoni for once (most places had said it's spicy, but they are completely off with that opinion given these Mexican and Thai food eaters here). Unfortunately, the cheese and crust was boring and lacking, like the pastas. Overall, they get two stars for "meh." Poor food taste loses them a possible third star, and nothing else about this restaurant gets the up to a 4 or 5. read more

Stopped buy because there was a wonderful woman playing accordion and it was great music. She was in front of this place so we checked he menu. My first grab was the sangria. So we sat outside for dinner. We had the waiter Massimo and he was a joker. Too nice to me my husband thought but he was working for the American tip. He suggested something off the menu and I'm so glad I took his advice it was delicious. I had some pasta with Lobsters OMG it was sooooo delicious. My husband had the steak it was great too. This was our worst meal in Italy, and one of the worst in my life. I had a grilled seafood platter. It was mostly calamari and octopus which I do not eat ( my bad for not checking). The half lobster tail was okay. The claw meat was inedible as it was paste. The prawns were also inedible - also the consistency of paste. The meat in the clams and mussels was the size of half a pinky fingernail. The bill for two of us was over 80 euros (we had an appetizer and two drinks as well) and the food was simply not worth even half that. . read more

The bread was very good, but they don't even have enough carafes of olive oil and balsamic to go around, and they are taking them from people who are eating and giving them to others. Salt and pepper? Not on the table. And their food needed it. Got the seafood risotto...had very little seasoning and was really watery with little rice. On the plus side, it had lots of seafood. Fiance got Bolognese...It was ok, but lacked much flavor. No cover charge...the entire idea of a cover charge at a restaurant is ridiculous to me. All the major Italian cities are charging them now as well as hiding exorbitant costs in drinks and other places. They're are so many hidden costs that it's no wonder so many are empty during prime lunch and dinner hours. Anyway, a bottle of water was 3.50 Euro. No, I'm not talking about Perrier. Just a simple bottle of water. Paid $6 for a 1/2 liter bottle of Coke the other day ($10 for a liter). At the end of the day, I stopped going out to eat at Italy's sit down restaurants in major cities because it was costing $35-60 per meal for two people, and the food absolutely sucked. Italy's food in the major cities is going downhill in my opinion...unfortunately, a lot of Yelpers don't know good Italian food here, or being in Italy is going to their head IMHO. 4 star restaurants consistently should be closer to a 2-3 in my opinion. My favorite Italian restaurants in D.C. run circles around these restaurants at a comparable price point or less. Enough is enough. Get back to the basics Italy. Your food, service and hidden charges are sucking and making dining out at your restaurants a miserable experience. Have some pride in your food for a change. read more

This place was just down the street from the flat were staying at. My first thought is that this would be the equivalent of visiting an Italian Applebees. But I was wrong, the food was really good. I chose a pizza. Thin and crispy with lots of cheese and lots of toppings. Some places are kind of skimpy by American standards. Our waiter (who sort of looked like Johnny Depp) was really fun and attentive. Something else I noticed while we were there, not to many "smiley" wait staff. But this guy was a charmer. read more

The waiters ruined the whole experience thou, not helpful at all and running around stressed, sweating and yelling.. They also did not give the change back for us to leave a tip (even though tip was already charged on our bill!), but simply kept the change and waited for us to go away. Very rude! SCAM!!! This place rips tourists off by physically writing an additional service charge on top of the printed bill. It was for 3.50 so not a big deal but it's dishonest and illegal. I challenged the waiter about it since there is no tipping in Rome but since it was only my second day in Italy I couldn't be sure I was right and authorized it. When I got back to my hotel, I asked the front desk person and she confirmed it was illegal and just them ripping us off and if it happens again to refuse to pay it. The food here was mediocre at best anyways so just do yourself a favor and avoid. read more

Please stay away from this place! If you're aggressively being recruited to come sit down at a table that should be a sign that they're desperate for business, just like those guys bugging you incessantly to buy a rose. You'll see a lot of inconsistencies with the reviews, but one thing that is consistent is people saying they got charged (3.50 euro) for bread that they, and everyone else, assume is free. That's an incredibly dishonest business practice, and if you're that desperate to make a few bucks, imagine what else you're doing behind the scenes to keep up the profits. I had beef, and my wife had steak. They were both horribly unevenly cooked. Everything from rare to well done. No seasoning or flavour in it. Neither of us were asked how we wanted our food cooked. Overall, just a horrible experience. I would have rather gone to a grocery store and had cereal for dinner. read more

Came here on our first night in Rome because it was near our hotel and we were tired. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. Felt like I could cook better in my own kitchen, but the kids liked the pizza and gnocci I brought back to the hotel for them. Cute outdoor seating off on a Rome side street with your typical skeezy smoking Roman wait staff. Decent for a late night hotel meal run but not fine dining. Best pizza ever! Now I know where they got it from. This is my first time in Rome. I was expecting good food in Italy but it is way more complicated than I thought. It's all good but there are many variations and is very different from Italian food in the US. This place is just off the plaza at the Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti (Spanish Steps). It's one of several in the alley and they are very aggressive about soliciting customers. Our waiter was charming and we couldn't resist. I had a pizza margherita that was out of this world. The crust is thin, crispy and chewy just like it's supposed to be, The ingredients are incredibly fresh and the flavors both bold and subtle. My wife had a pasta bolognese that was also incredible. The pasta was home made and very fresh as were all the ingredients. I don't think there is anything on the menu that would not be good and it was one of the most entertaining cafes we were in. Definitely worth a vist for lunch or dinner. read more
