Great meal and great service!!! The staff could not be more friendly!! After a couple of "nice" meals around the Brevard and Sapphire area we kind of lowered our expectations of the local fare. However we were definitely pleased with our dining experience. While we didn't have a huge meal, the meal we had was delicious. The bread was warm with pesto olive oil for dipping. I had the Eggplant Rollatini and the Gorgonzola Salad. My dining partner had the perfectly dressed Caesar Salad and Linguine Alle Vongole. We booked our reservation on line, which was a breeze. Great ambiance with attentive & knowledgeable wait staff. We ate off the specials menu of the night. I had the grouper, my husband had the lobster ravioli and an excellent garden salad. We both had the chocolate lava cake for dessert. An absolutely delicious and wonderful meal. Our friends asked us to meet them. I join the reviews when they say the host/hostess is a bit snooty. Our friends are regulars and had a reservation but she was a bit stand-offish and I think we would have been turned away had our hosts weren't regulars. The restaurant itself wasn't crowded and has nice outdoor seating. Our waiter was nice and informative, he acknowledged that half-portions are available which is nice in an Italian restaurant. I had chicken piccata, I found the sauce very good but the chicken under the sauce was bland- no seasoning. The cannelloni was tasty. Our hosts enjoyed the fish. A caveat- always ask the price for the off menu fish specials- it's often expensive. read more

Although im famous for sticking with my favorites I very much enjoyed their fettuccine Alfredo with chicken Cloth table cloths and real silverware always is a plus. We were staying right next door, so we got cleaned up & wore whatever clothes we had left for the weekend (jeans & a shirt for me & a Nike sweatsuit for my husband). Nothing inappropriate, but not dressy. Again, people are on vacation. Our server was terrible. Ignored us, walked past us several times, never filled our drinks (the runner kid did), we asked for dessert menus and he brought them by setting them on the table and turning around and walking away!​​ It's laughable how rude he was. He was standing right behind us hamming it up with another table behind us while giving us the most minimal service. The only thing he did was take our order & bring the bill. The other employees filled our drinks, brought our food, took our plates, etc. He was 100% giving us the cold shoulder and I fully believe he snubbed us because he thought we were not classy enough for him, but money spends, right? My favorite spot in Toxaway area. Everything is great. I usually stick with marsala or bolognese but everything is worthy. Full bar, great bartenders, servers and owners. Ample parking. Had the most amazing g meal this evening. The owner Joe Nuzzi makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in to the time you leave and every moment in between. For dinner we went crazy. Half portion of rigatoni Osteria, Elana Deutch had the chicken Franchise, Cheri Stern Deutch had the Chilean Sea Bass. Just a side note, I don't really like Chilean Sea Bass but the preparation this evening was amazing and delicious. I had the 22 oz Prime Bone-In Ribeye. OMG. So tender it could be cut with a fork. The preparation was simple but succulent. Please, when in Asheville, Hendersonville , or points in between. This is a must go. Not inexpensive but not overpriced for the quality and portions. Caution, this restaurant closes for the winter and is not open seven days a week in the early spring. More days and hours during peak tourist season. With that said, we had a great evening here. One of us had a fish special and the other had a pork special of a flattened and rolled chop that was stuffed. I had the pasta special with scallops and a Gorgonzola salad. The salad was fresh with so many ingredients and a creamy dressing. I am not a big scallop fan, but I am now. They were so fresh and tender they would melt in your mouth. The pasta was home made and the tomato based Italian sauce was the best I have ever had. Everything we tried from smoked salmon appetizer to the veal scallopini and special of the night, rack of lamb, were well prepared. Only suggestion would be to include a side of pasta wither entrees. Osteria del Monte is one of our go-to's when we are in the Cashiers area. Well worth the short drive down the mountain. The staff is friendly and welcoming and we always feel well taken care of when we dine here. My son always gets the Bistecca Di Manzo al Pepe Nero, which is always perfectly prepared. What a great find. I was coming back from hiking in Gorges State Park and happened upon this place. It was a Friday night but they were able to seat me at the bar. The food was excellent with generous portions. I had stuffed zucchini blossoms for an appetizer and osso buco for an entree. I was stuffed, but had to get the tiramisu to go because it was made in house and it is one of my favorite desserts. It did not disappoint. Whoa baby, what a place! Make a reservation right now if you're considering a visit because it's a must. And worthwhile. There were four of us visiting from various parts of the US. I started with a cup of the Lobster Bisq soup and after passing around everyone ordered a cup. For entree I thought I'd ordered the Snapper Piccata but they came with the Salmone Alla Livornese and it was the best salmon I ever had. It even beat the Copper River King Salmon when I was in Alaska. My friends raved about their chicken parm. It is an italian resturant after all. Went here on Friday night. First time following a change in management. Menu seemed smaller than in previous years, but it was filled with Italian classics. Service has improved greatly. If I have one issue, drinks are a little pricey but that seems to be the sign of the times. Can get loud, but thats the sign of good Italian!! read more
