Hands down the best margaritas in Ashland!! In house pickled veggies elevate this classic beverage. The outdoor dining along the creek is peaceful and bucolic.

First time trying Greenleaf for breakfast it did leave a bit to be desired. In short: service felt abandoned, food was average, and drinks were hit or miss. As a side note, they put their tip options reversed from highest to lowest left to right as "25%, 20%, 18%" which I find almost intentionally trying to get people to click the highest percentage if they don't pay attention. Plus having the minimum option be 18 contributes to the toxic tipping trends. Service: this was the area that struggled the most. When we arrived our party was waiting by the host stand that said to wait to be seated for a long time along with several other parties. While I understand wanting to spread our seating, no one even acknowledged us for nearly 10 minutes leaving us and the other parties wondering if they even noticed us. Once seated, we not checked on by our server, only saw at order and check. Important because we had a couple missing items from our order that we had to flag down multiple people for because we would tell someone who would "check on it" for us but still never brought out our missing items and maybe would have been noticed if we were checked on. Plus never had our waters refilled or anything of that. Drinks: these were either good or meh, with some of the coffee drinks like cappuccino or latte being well made, whereas others like the chai really just tasted like milk with some spice on top. Food: this was just about average. There was nothing too significant to report here, but it didn't exactly feel special or real reason to go again. To be fair, it was popular downtown as the weather was nice and the outside seating was popular, but for peak tourist and graduation season, there certainly should be more staffing to avoid issues.

I came here on a Sunday with a party of six. At first I was having regrets because it took us a while to get seated and the host situation seems lackluster. However, once we were settled, the server was so kind and the food was incredible. Every bite was delicious and the prices were very reasonable.

'Pesto' salmon. DRY and absolutely zero flavor. I was very disappointed in this $24 entree. Do not order this.

Cute place, but the food has zero flavor. The salmon was dry, the mashed potatoes were grey, salmon chowder tasted off (I spit it out). Temperature on the burger was good, but the burger also lacked seasoning.

My husband and I were in Ashland visiting my daughter, needed some Lunch and stopped at Greenleaf. Since we had our dog, Charlie, I asked to sit outside. The tables were clean and our waiter thoughtfully asked if we would prefer seating where lots of diners were, or less diners. We chose less and were seated at a high table by the creek. We had a delicious lunch, I ordered the vegetable curry with brown rice and added blackened chicken. The curry was a green Thai curry, lots of veggies and the veggies were still al dente and not mushy. It was delicious with the brown rice. Our server was so friendly and checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed for a good lunch. Loved the outdoor setting ... will be back!

Thanks Gavin and Oren for the Hawaiian music and listening to our turtle story and Thankyou for telling us your turtle story. What great service. We enjoyed our beautiful lattes and coffee and the food is outstanding.

    The meatloaf is pretty good.

This is our second visit to Greenleaf. This time we came with our friend, Peggy, arriving early on a Friday night around 4:30 PM. We received a friendly welcome and were seated quickly inside as it was too chilly to eat outside. Two of us started with the salmon chowder. It was good, but not as flavorful as we expected based on other comments. Between us, we ordered the salmon plate, the meatloaf, and the quesadillas. Our vegetarian friend really enjoyed her quesadillas and had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The salmon was good, but was a bit overcooked. The meatloaf is a pretty good dish as we had had it last time and it was also enjoyed this time along with the potatoes and sautéed veggies. Our server, Ruby, was very sweet.

Beef ribs over mashed potatoes with red wine reduction, honey had the "patty melt" w/herb crusted tofu. With Gorgonzola fries of course.

Service was prompt, helped us with our small dog. The food was amazing! Reminded me of my childhood. Had a very ratatouille moment! It was Halloween night, on a Friday, so town was so busy, but they weren't! Seated right away and helped immediately. Will definitely be back when we visit Ashland again!

Our second visit really was disappointing in service. Such a huge contrast from the first time. It was close to closing at the end of our visit, to be fair. But we should not be abandoned due to that. Food still great. My husband really likes the meatloaf melt. I had the trout salad substituted with salmon this time. It was very fresh and full of flavor. My boys really like the oodles of noodles. Brownie was exceptional!!! So gooey and rich! One other note: the server described the brownie as though it included ice cream but we were charged extra for ice cream. Not a problem in itself but better communication would be ideal in this circumstance. We will be back! Owner is wonderful and clearly cares about guests experience. BRAVO.

Since I only had time for about one meal in Ashland, and there are so many interesting sounding places, it was hard to pick one. I chose Ruby's because there is a diner by the same name that I love in Santa Barbara. Also, the menu looked decent on Yelp. The chipotle chicken sandwich featured marinated dark chicken meat topped with fresh tomatoes, red onions, and coleslaw. The flavor of the chicken and the coleslaw was so bomb, and complemented each other perfectly. The bread was kind of like a small French roll. Very soft, fresh, and tasty. It didn't come with any sides, but the price was reasonable, and just the sandwich was enough for me. The inside of the restaurant was very small and cozy. I had planned to go outside when my food came up, but I was so hungry, and it looked so good, I ended up devouring it right there. I barely even had time to snap a pic of half of my sandwich at the "Forever Alone" booth where I was sitting. Staff was friendly and the ambiance was quirky but cute. As a plus, this is a great area to just walk around and explore all the local stores and scenery for a few hours or so. Would def stop by here again if there weren't a million other great sounding places to explore within a quarter-mile radius.

Choucroute is that iconic dish, for Alsace, France, and Nous specializes in that region. And having the dish for my last day in Alsace created a treasured memory. The name of the dish is French for sauerkraut. The dish is a sour cabbage braise. Besides lots of that, the dish usually is a mixture of meats and a variety of possible vegetables. A higher-end restaurant is likely to get creative, of course, but there are limits. For example, there should be some sauerkraut. There was almost none. Or it had melted so far it was indistinguishable. There were lots of carrots and green beans. Steamed and obviously not part of the braise. And some potato. Meat is optional, with individual portions that can be added. Each portion is a full protein, such as an entire duck leg and thigh. I wanted a mixture, as is usual for the dish, but that would have required ordering far more meat than I could consume. So I settle on the duck. What came was vastly overcooked and astonishingly over-salted leg that had almost certainly been deep-fried. And maybe more than once. On an average night, I'd have sent it back, but this was my last night in town and I was headed to see the last performance and I didn't want to engage in the hassle that returning the dish would have involved. My best guess is that the dish was left-over and reconstituted. Maybe more than once. I save one star for the times I can't finish the food, or there are other actual traumas. On an average night, that's what I would have left, because that's just how bad the dish was. But since I did finish the meal...
