Greenleaf is a restaurant that we frequent every time we are in Ashland. We usually sit outside by Lithia Creek and enjoy both the ambiance and a fine meal. The wait staff is attentive considering the difficulty of getting in and out of the restaurant to serve the patio. They have some unusual and delicious items. Ashland is becoming too focused as a tourist town but Greenleaf is a steady player. read more

First time trying Greenleaf for breakfast it did leave a bit to be desired. In short: service felt abandoned, food was average, and drinks were hit or miss. As a side note, they put their tip options reversed from highest to lowest left to right as "25%, 20%, 18%" which I find almost intentionally trying to get people to click the highest percentage if they don't pay attention. Plus having the minimum option be 18 contributes to the toxic tipping trends. Service: this was the area that struggled the most. When we arrived our party was waiting by the host stand that said to wait to be seated for a long time along with several other parties. While I understand wanting to spread our seating, no one even acknowledged us for nearly 10 minutes leaving us and the other parties wondering if they even noticed us. Once seated, we not checked on by our server, only saw at order and check. Important because we had a couple missing items from our order that we had to flag down multiple people for because we would tell someone who would "check on it" for us but still never brought out our missing items and maybe would have been noticed if we were checked on. Plus never had our waters refilled or anything of that. Drinks: these were either good or meh, with some of the coffee drinks like cappuccino or latte being well made, whereas others like the chai really just tasted like milk with some spice on top. Food: this was just about average. There was nothing too significant to report here, but it didn't exactly feel special or real reason to go again. To be fair, it was popular downtown as the weather was nice and the outside seating was popular, but for peak tourist and graduation season, there certainly should be more staffing to avoid issues. read more

I have been here multiple times and it has always been as a member of a larger party of young people for lunch. On all occasions, the servers were highly attentive and very kind us. Also in all instances all members of my groups liked the food. I believe the price was pretty fair for the service given and the quality, but that is not quite my area of expertise so don't let me be your only judge. The tables were clean and our waiter thoughtfully asked if we would prefer seating where lots of diners were, or less diners. We chose less and were seated at a high table by the creek. We had a delicious lunch, I ordered the vegetable curry with brown rice and added blackened chicken. The curry was a green Thai curry, lots of veggies and the veggies were still al dente and not mushy. It was delicious with the brown rice. This is our second visit to Greenleaf. This time we came with our friend, Peggy, arriving early on a Friday night around 4:30 PM. We received a friendly welcome and were seated quickly inside as it was too chilly to eat outside. Two of us started with the salmon chowder. It was good, but not as flavorful as we expected based on other comments. Between us, we ordered the salmon plate, the meatloaf, and the quesadillas. Our vegetarian friend really enjoyed her quesadillas and had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The salmon was good, but was a bit overcooked. Our second visit really was disappointing in service. Such a huge contrast from the first time. It was close to closing at the end of our visit, to be fair. But we should not be abandoned due to that. Food still great. My husband really likes the meatloaf melt. I had the trout salad substituted with salmon this time. It was very fresh and full of flavor. My boys really like the oodles of noodles. Brownie was exceptional!!! So gooey and rich! One other note: the server described the brownie as though it included ice cream but we were charged extra for ice cream. This was a huge disappointment. We came in from driving from out of town and had just researched and read the menu. It looked like it would be delicious. We were seated right away and had water and menus. What the Dont tell us was they had a patio and everyone was seated out there. We weren't given an option. We then sat for at least 15-20 min with no service of acknowledgment. Servers and workers walked by many many times and never even looked over. Finally I asked for service. Yes indeed this place was awesome! Very accommodating to pet parents. They served our dogs fresh cold water, which I thought was awesome and super thoughtful! The service and staff was fantastic. The polenta bowl was a recommendation, but I went with the corned beef omelette with grilled onion jam, and Swiss with a Marian berry muffin and grilled tomatoes. Lots of good chucks of corned beef in the omelette and it was a really tasty dish. I appreciated the muffin being very bran forward and the tomatoes were well cooked. Husband & I are on our mini honeymoon weekend trip, stopped at to is place yesterday for breakfast and had to get 3 entrees because the entire menu looked so good. Came back again this morning because we loved it so much. In total we tried the Potato Pancakes, (savory & sweet perfection) Polenta bowl (our personal fav, mushrooms were perfection) the friend chicken scone sandwich (I had to order this a second time was so amazing) & the Norwegian benedict (husband loved it!). everything was amazing. Yelp steered me to Greenleaf, and this place did not disappoint. Service was impeccable. Vibe was "quiet happy hour". I had the fish and chips, and it was perfectly cooked, with huge portions. I ate almost all the fish, maybe half the fries, and only a little of the Cole slaw. The slaw was a little disappointing, the flavor was just slightly off, like they had used cheap vinegar and then added a little too much sugar trying to balance it out? But the fish had exactly the kind of light crispy batter everyone wants - the kind most places strive for, but don't achieve. And the fries were also quite good. The only thing missing was a good fake beer. Get some fake beer on your menu, please! Oh and one other tip: spring for the paid Spotify account, the commercials are annoying, and your customers deserve better. read more

My husband and I popped by Greenleaf Restaurant for brunch after seeing it while window shopping in Ashland. My husband wanted to sit in the back overlooking the creek and the host promptly took us to a nice 2 top at the creek's edge. It would have been a very beautiful and serene dining experience except for the swarming yellow jackets going after the food at the table next to us. The group were handling it well--using their clothes napkins to constantly bay away the pests. However, I immediately was concerned, because I am allergic to stings and scared of yellow jackets. Right before placing our food order one of the gentlemen at the table next to us got stung. The server help him, then came to take our order. We ordered and the husband asked to move inside. Luckily, the server had no issues with that and were moved to a 2 top in the indoor,back dining area. Still able to kind of be near the creek which was nice. The back dining area was a little awkward, because we were near the kitchen and work area with a lot of yelling, breaking down boxes, transporting garbage bags... just not the most appetizing ambience. I was looking forward to my Toad in "A" Hole, but it ended up being underwhelming. The temperature of my food was way off. The poached egg was cold. The grilled polenta was pipping hot and needed to rest before I could eat it. The "melted" cheese sprinkled across the avocado toast was dried up and hard. I was disappointed with the brioche as well. It seemed a bit stale and reminded me of a brioche hamburger bun from the grocery store. I hear this place has been around for years. It's expanded & has both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is great, and the food did not disappoint. Serving sizes are generous, so I wasn't able to finish my salad after the amazing salmon chowder. Charlie, our waiter, was delightful. Fortunately, we arrived early as seating was scarce around 6. Don't know what happened in the kitchen, but our food was quite delayed! Salads came out with the entrees.
