We had our best meal here. A small unassuming spot. Cutest decor ever. I was on a search to find the best Carbonara, and I found it here. It does not look like much from the outside, but step in. You'll find the space very welcoming and cozy. The staff is welcoming, and recommended the perfect wine to go with the meal. Prices are more than fair. My carbonara was excellent.
Amazing food!!! We found them on YELP & it was more than we expected! Best food we had the whole week in Italy. The Alfredo dish my daughters got was sooo good! My seafood dish was PERFECTION! My husband had a pasta and seafood dish that was great too! The apple dessert & tiramisu were delicious! Being a high quality restaurant, we wanted more food but the price was worth it.
Cute little spot with delicious homemade pasta cooked to perfection. Giovani was our server and he was exceptional. We had the bruschetta appetizer and it came with parmigiana, sautéed spinach, pear and some other yummy thing that I have no idea what it's called. For dinner I had pasta with tomato & fresh basil and my husband had lasagna bolognese. Both dishes were delicious. Sadly we did not leave room for dessert!
Well worth the wait!! The service was fantastic, we decided to have lunch here. We are so glad we did! We wanted to sit in the patio but there was no table. They seated us inside and moved us outside when a table became available. We went with the waiter's recommendations. Everything was flavorful and filling. Bar none, this is the best food we've eaten in Italy. The sauces aren't heavy, but chock full of flavor. They surprised us with a complimentary serving of tiramisu. It was yummy too! BTW, my husband will be camped out there for tomorrow's meals too.
HEAVENLY! Do not miss this place. We found it on Yelp on a whim while looking for nearby lunch. We walked right in and got a table in the back for 2. I ordered a glass of house red wine and they brought me 2 different wines to taste. The man serving the wine was so adorable. I went with the Chianti Classico (shocker - my fav). It was only 7 euro a glass and was incredible. We started with bread and amazing olive oil that was on the table. My only complaint is that we were seated near the only bathroom for the whole restaurant so people were constantly standing at our table waiting in line. Most places only have one bathroom in Florence, so this is not out of the ordinary. I ordered the seafood stew and my boyfriend ordered the carbonara based on other reviews. WOWOWOWOW. His carbonara was incredible. The spaghetti was so thick - even thicker than bucatini. I'm not sure what it was called. The sauce was perfect with crispy pancetta. Absolutely perfect. My seafood stew was *chef's kiss*. There were two huge octopus tentacles (which would have been so expensive in the US), plus mussels, shrimp, squid, and branzino fish in a tomato sauce. I literally drank the sauce out of the bowl and dipped several pieces of bread in to soak up the sauce. I would go here and order this exact meal again. Prices were so reasonable for the quality and portion. 5 stars! Will be dreaming about this take on cioppino.
Quaint restaurant that caters to tourists. Reservations are accepted, but we were able to get a table for four around 6pm on a Wednesday evening without a wait. They provide bread with olive oil at the beginning of the meal. The service was fairly friendly. Credit cards are accepted. Indoor dining only (no outdoor spot). We got the charcuterie to split, and the chicken liver mousse was the best part. The rigatoni I got was interesting, as it was more of a deconstructed pasta with a simple tomato sauce. The lasagna is on the smaller side but the vegetable soup is quite hearty. The wild boar ravioli was decent - I would say that the food overall was on the less seasoned side, but the ingredients were fresh.
Having read several 5-star reviews I felt I couldn't say it better. Only thing I'd stress is that it's located 30 meters off the main route to Ponte Vecchio, so it's easy to miss. Maybe that's why it's unassuming and strangely quiet here. Another thing I'd add, is that we actually came at the recommendation of a local friend who let us know pasta are made from scratch here.
We had an excellent dinner here. The menu draws from different regions of Tuscany. We started with the vegetarian and the seafood antipasti. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. I had the wild boar which had an excellent flavor. To finish I had the little apple "pie" and my companion had the biscotti with a Vin Santo sauce. They had two house wines and gave us a taste of each so we could choose. Service was good. We had a reservation but still ended up in the stuffy basement with little ventilation. But the food made up for the lack of ambiance.
Solid meal. A mix of tourists and Italians dined around us for an all-around enjoyable experience. Even though the dining area was packed, service was prompt. Worth a visit.
I don't get the ratings here. I came here thinking I had found a cute littie restaurant that was going to be awesome... I couldn't have been further from the truth. The food here was sub par.... Shockingly bad for Italy. My daughter had a simple tomato sauce with basil, it was supposed to be rigatoni and instead she got flat pieces of pasta like the parts of a stuffed pasta that they hadn't made and just stuck in this dish, all stuck together of course because they are flat.. The sauce was bland and seriously bad... Worse than anything I've made in fact more like somethig out of a bottle from the grocery store.. If that good. My cod fish with tomato sauce was barely ok. My fish was dry and over cooked and the sauce just ok. We didn't attempt dessert after the awful meal. Just avoid this place. Seriously bad food, I can't believe they can serve this quality here...
Beautiful small trattoria with outdoor seating, the food was perfectly excellent. The bruschetta was incredible, as well as the home made raviolis with sage butter. For main the sea bass was perfectly cooked delicate and so flavorful, this was our favorite meal since being in Italy. Service was wonderful.
After eating pizza for multiple consecutive meals, we were looking for a restaurant with good pasta. This place served the best pasta dishes we've had thus far in Italy. Both of us were vegetarians and the owner, Antonio, worked with us to assure that we had tasty food that catered to our dietary restrictions. Since we wanted to try multiple dishes, he even offered to serve us a half order of the eggplant parmigiana (which turned out to be my favorite). He also provided us with samples of the different olive oils that the restaurant offered. Literally every item at the restaurant was amazing. Not to mention that the prices here were pretty affordable and much better than other restaurants in the touristy areas. Antonio also provided the best service we've had so far in Italy. We never felt rushed with him and he told us stories about the city and about how he came to open up the restaurant. He gave us an idea of what Italy and Florence is like for locals and even broke down some of the political debates that Italians are grappling with regarding the direction of the country. Antonio is so positive and friendly and I can't speak enough about the food and the service here.

This restaurant is a pure gem in the heart of Florence. I ordered carbonara and the food by far surpassed all my expectations. It was very delicious and rich in flavor. I paired it with a glass of white wine which completed my meal. The service is lovely too. The staff was very attentive to me. Although small, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and ambiance. I highly recommend this spot if you are interested in true Italian pasta. read more

Not fancy - just fabulous!!! we live in Florence... So we eat great food all the time... But don't overlook this little sleeper! We only had pasta and it was so good we tipped the cooks!!! Sometimes simple is best! Service was fairly quick for Italy standards! The place is casual! read more

Having read several 5-star reviews I felt I couldn't say it better. Only thing I'd stress is that it's located 30 meters off the main route to Ponte Vecchio, so it's easy to miss. Was a bit worried when stepping in the restaurant and only finding foreigners here, but the food is very good here. The pasta is really hand well made. My carbonara is rich and meaty and flavorful. My husband ordered the pici with pesto and mint and he loved it too. read more

Fantastic find. Our tour guide Rosa brought us here after the day. Fantastic meal. Carbonara, Lasagna, seafood pasta, veal stew all amazing. Fabulous olive oil from the owners. This is a great stop and even better find. This comes after a few disappointing meals in Rome. Come here!! Had a fantastic time on their back porch and delicious food from a family. read more
As many restaurants in Florence do, they are yet another very busy one during lunch. Without a reservation, I jumped in and was able to catch a table. First, be prepared to wait as the staff are going non stop. And when you get the menu do not take forever because the wait will kill you once your see how delicious everything is. I actually changed my mind after they brought a dish to another table and simply pointed for that instead. It was a stuffed pasta with a devine bolognese sauce. Just perfect for lunch with a glass of local red wine. Ending with a cafe afterwords, well you just can't be it. Such a great choice if you are in the area! read more

Wow, phenomenal food that's both visually beautiful and packed with flavor. The seafood soup is not to be missed. The tomato both is so decadent and the seafood on top is perfectly cooked and looks stunning We came on two different occasions so we tried a variety of things and they were all delicious. The wild boar was so satisfying - luxurious and perfectly seasoned. The pastas were all cooked perfectly - simple ingredients but complicated and bold flavors. The staff was also super nice and accommodating of our 8 month old baby. The ambiance is also tastefully decorated with nice music. Highly recommend. read more

We walked there for dinner one night and we ended up coming back the second night. The homemade olive oil was so fresh that you can taste the leaves and fruits. My main dish was the sea bass and shrimp and gosh it's out of this world! So good that I made my group all ordered this dish the second night. The seafood soup was also beyond description. The owner was friendly and attentive. We had fun talking to him. Will definitely recommend it to all foodies alike. read more

Wandered in here for dinner during our first night in Florence. We were able to get a table, but it looks like reservations are strongly encouraged here. We started with a variety of spreads and bites (I guess like a charcuterie? But it had no meats), and for my main, I got their pesto tagliatelle pasta dish, which was very well made. My friend ordered their eggplant parmesan dish, which our party ended up sharing, and that was quite tasty also. My friend and my partner both highly enjoyed their respective dinner choices and all in all, this was a very good meal that didn't seem very touristy. Recommended if you want a more quiet restaurant away from the touristy center of Florence. read more

Unfortunately, the pasta was very disappointing. Each pasta dish was served cold like it had been sitting out for 20 minutes. Honestly tasted like having leftovers. The bolognese was dry and overcooked. The wild boar was extremely dry and overcooked and had a charcoal taste and crumbled in my mouth (not in a good way). I could not finish it. I have had this dish before in NYC a few times so I have some frame of reference for how boar is prepared. However, the service was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly. Just extremely disappointed in the pasta and boar, especially with the strong plating and the nice ambiance of the restaurant. If you go, maybe just avoid the pasta dishes read more

The food here was just okay, I wish we had gone somewhere else. Nothing was "bad" but it also wasn't "good". The ambience and service were great. The waiter was very helpful. read more

Do not hesitate to choose Il Ricettario!! We loved it! We got the spaghetti carbonara and the rigatoni- both were excellent!! And the wine was marvelous! The waiter was so kind and friendly and helpful. Of course having a reservation is best, so try to do so. I thought the prices were good too. As usual, you need to "gear down" in Europe as far as service speed. The Italians want you to sit and linger and enjoy the food, atmosphere and conversation. I traveled with my two recent college graduates and we loved this restaurant! read more
