    Bruschetta

Kind, friendly service and delicious food. Bruschetta- The tomatoes were seasoned nicely. Caesar Salad- Typical taste. Ravioli di Pecorino con Burro- We were so surprised how delicious this was! Chocolate Cake- Warm, soft, melty, chocolatey lava cake. A perfect way to end the meal. We visited a second time, I tried the Panna Cotta, and was blown away. It was the best panna cotta I've ever had in my life!

Down the street from our b&b. Great food, super nice people that works there. We ordered the bruschetta, pasta with red wine boar ragu, thin sliced steak with arugula and parmigiana.

    Apricot crossaint.

Good things: it's open and friendly service. Bad part, the crossaint has a weird fat that sticks to the top of your mouth and or makes your mouth feel coated. I won't order pastries from here again. I order a warm milk with chocolate and that was good. So I'll order drinks from here.

    Bruschetta - mmmm!

What a memorable meal! A sumptuous, classic Bistecca Florentine, with the freshest bruschetta & perfectly al dente spaghetti. Even the cheapest glass of Chianti Classico they offer is highly rated. Quaint and romantic - perfect for dinner with a loved one. Hoping to come back again!

Cozy restaurant with a "welcome home" type feel very close to attractions. The service is attentive like you're visiting family. We had the dry aged Florentine steak, which was cooked perfectly and a good value compared to others. We also had the truffle ravioli and pici (a thick spaghetti) in meat sauce . . . Both done superbly! Pricing was reasonable, good food, family and casual atmosphere, pretty good wine list, and in the middle of tourist hell (or heaven)!!

Amazing food and service, if you're in Florence a must try! I went with my family and we pretty much ate there everyday.

This place is great. Huge Aperol Spritzes, great service, and great food. Highly recommend stopping in for a meal when in Florence.

Bistecca alla Fiorentina and Salted spinach

After a long trip to Cinque Terre, my family and I were tired and very very hungry. By chance, we stumbled upon Le Capelle Medicee after seeing that they served dry-aged Bistecca alla Fiorentina at extremely reasonable prices. They did not disappoint. The Caprese was served with burrata mozzarella and was light and refreshing. The produce was fresh. The bistecca was divine, seared perfectly and served with coarse salt. The sides were well done, traditional and flavorful. Finally the dessert. The tiramisu and the cheesecake are must-trys, and the panacotta was something new, but equally delicious. The service was amazing as well, with the owner spending a good amount of time at our table. 10/10 would recommend if in Florence.

Wow! Some of the best food we had during our whole Italian experience. The server was also amazing and so friendly, made us feel so comfortable. It is such a quaint spot in a beautiful location, serving authentic, fresh food. The drinks were amazing too- go!

We had found this place on Yelp/TripAdvisor and decided to check it out. We both were glad that we did! We arrived around 7:30pm and didn't have to wait at all. The owner greeted us and sat us right away. We ended up ordering a bottle of house red wine (€23), bottle of water (€2.50), Tagliatelle Ragu (€10), Tagliata Rucola e Grana (€20), & a side of potatoes (€5). The ambiance was cozy, the food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. We both highly recommend this restaurant!

Great hospitality & food. There are lots of options as you walk around Florence trying to decide where to have a meal that you won't be disappointed in. This is the place. Great service, plenty of Tuscan regional recipes, great steaks, wine & desserts. You can eat outside or in. We visited 2 nights in a row -- had pasta the first night & a large t-none we split on the. 2nd night. Definitely not a fly-by-night restaurant. They've been here a long time.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

I went to the internet for the best Florentine steak and Trattoria Mario consistently popped up as highly rated. I reached out to the restaurant via email to make a reservation for a Friday. I wanted to get the earliest reservation possible, so the restaurant reserved me for 7:30pm, which was when they open. I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I did find the pasta sauce salty, but it could've came from the grated parmesan. The saltiness was not a fluke. The Florentine steak was just pure beef and a ton of salt... too much salt for my liking. I also decided that I'm not a fan of Florentine steak in general.

Diving right into the food, my meal started with their Carabaccia, a traditional Florentine onion soup that dates back to when Leonardo da Vinci was slurping soup. It was a wonderful start to the evening. Feeling adventurous, or maybe just hungry, our group decided to share their Bistecca Alla Fiorentina "Tradiziozale", a hefty Florentine T-bone Beef-Steak. Wow, that was incredible. They brought out a 1.4kg very thick steak for our approval before cooking. We approved, and agreed in having it served rare. I ate so much steak. Our server was great, helping us navigate the menu that resulted in this meal.

Never heard of her until now! Besides the different pizzas, I had the Cinghale which was incredible! The Lasagna also fabulous and the spaghetti for my picky daughter. With outside seating for people watching or inside and a menu you can't go wrong with, I highly recommend this Trattoria. Only attaching the pizza photo because the other food was takeout back to the Airbnb and I never took a photo sadly.

I shared two pasta dishes with my daughter (the handmade Pappardelle with Maremman Wild Boar Ragu and the Carbonara). Both were very good but not the best we've had. Appetizers were good: Salad with pecorino cheese, oranges, pine nuts and walnuts. We ordered the Octopus appetizer as well. The Octopus was beautifully prepared and presented, but didn't have much flavor. They nailed the Espresso Martini! One of the best I've ever had! We ordered the huge Florentine steak to share between 4 of us and it was more than enough. Ultimately what knocked this review down to 3 stars and what was really disappointing was how they targeted us as tourists with the note at the bottom of the bill (see picture). It read "GRATUITY NOT INCLUDED" in all CAPITAL LETTERS. Also note it was the only thing in English on the entire bill. If it had been our first meal in Florence we might have fallen for this tactic, however it was our last. There's definitely some hostility towards tourists in Florence. Don't get me wrong, some of the people and restaurants we've visited have been very welcoming and friendly. However we recently saw tourist taxes go up significantly, and then you see tricks like this on the bill at La Giostra. This was the ONLY restaurant in Florence where we encountered this. Once jet fuel prices make flying a relic of the past I would argue that some Europeans who depend on tourists for their livelihood may not miss our presence but will certainly miss our spending. Save your money and go research the many other places to eat while in Florence.
