This was my first time picking up prescriptions at Ostroms and I have to say I was VERY impressed. My prescriptions were ready almost right away and I was able to give all of my insurance information through a simple text. The environment was very relaxing and there was almost no line inside (though I believe there were a few cars in the drive-thru). The lovely pharmacy assistant that helped check me out was very nice and helped set up my prescriptions to auto-renew. Heaven knows I'm horrible at remembering to call in my refills until it's too late so hopefully this helps future me! Mind you, I have been to SEVERAL pharmacies in the area--usually grocery stores (several Safeways, Fred Meyer, QFC, Costco, Walgreens--you name it) and average spending at LEAST a half hour in line in a severely understaffed pharmacy with a single stressed out pharmacist juggling multiple tasks. I got none of these stressy vibes at Ostroms. The shop was super cute too and I will definitely find something here next time I need to purchase a gift. The only thing that sucked was getting in and out of the parking lot during rush hour-ish time. That was a nightmare but not Ostroms fault by any means! The store is great, the merchandise manager B-Z Davis however? Not so great. I was on the phone with someone which wasn't at high volume and she comes up to me to tell me "Ma'am the store doesn't need to hear your conversation." I blew it off and continued because it was only me and a friend in there. As I went to checkout with 3 items she goes "Oh you sure are getting a lot aren't you?" Am I supposed to be ashamed of buying gifts? For the door to say "We're hiring smiling faces!" She sure is far off from it. read more

This is a great local drug and gift store especially if you're looking for something one of a kind. The items are a bit more expensive than a regular drugstore, but they are ones that you might not find anywhere else. I liked that this has been a local family-owned store for a long time and they have some good sales during the holidays. I found this pharmacy during the pandemic/covid times, I have been very lucky to have found a place that has been able to get the very specific and specialized medications. They truly care about my entire family and take interest in my actual life. The service is always enjoyable and they are very knowledgeable when asked questions. The gift shop side my parents absolutely love to walk through the whole store, it's one of their highlights. It is not the closest to where I live but it is worth the drive (about 30min +/- 10min). read more

I am all for supporting small local businesses and I really tried to give them My business once the Rite Aid shut down. But their customer service (pharmacy) leaves a lot to be desired. 1. When I went to pick up my first prescription, the took my insurance but charged me the wrong amount. It is good I noticed that the prescription didn't show up in my order history and called them and they confirmed while they took my insurance they forgot to apply it and charged me the entire amount. Since I was able to, I drove to get my refund. 2. I asked them to transfer my prescription through their online form. No communication for 4 days. When I called them they said that they faxed but didn't get a response to transfer the prescription. I asked them to retry and said that they could have let me know about the issue and I would be happy to assist them by calling my provider. Nothing happened and they dropped the issue on the floor and my prescription was never transferred. I went to the new CVS and they got the prescription transferred in 2 days. 3. There's a a surcharge on credit cards which isn't there in big pharmacies. 4. The pharmacist I spoke with them collecting my prescription seemed disinterested when asked about medication interactions and just wanted me to call my doctor's office. read more

They charged me $500 for meds that would have been under $50 at half a dozen local options. If you're using them, check good rx for what it would be at cvs or Safeway etc. Eye opening rip off. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this pharmacy! A couple weeks ago I unfortunately was bitten by a random dog and needed treatment for rabies exposure. The emergency department said I would have to come back three more times unless I could find a pharmacy that stocked the rabies vaccine, but the odds of that happening was low. I called around and thankfully was connected with Amanda who leads the travel vaccine clinic at Ostroms. She took the time to figure out how to understand my situation in detail, arrange the care I needed, and ensure my insurance would cover the expenses. I am forever grateful for her helping coordinate these follow up doses, which allowed me to skip visiting the hospital an additional three more times. I'd recommend this pharmacy in a heartbeat. They are real people who care about their patients and customers. If they were closer to NW Seattle I'd become a regular customer for life. read more

This is my local go-to for gifts- hostess, Christmas, girlfriend's birthday , kids... you name it, they have it all! The pharmacy is one part and we did get the kids boosters here. But they also carry drug store basics, simple office products, greeting cards, gift wrap and so many hip and chic gifts. I was please to find two if my favorite candle scents - Volcano and Frazier Fir! There's something about their candy aisle that my teens still love. On my last trip in, I picked up a sentimental gift for a friends who had to put their pup down, found the perfect "thinking of you" card, then headed to the candy aisle to get some Fran's sea salt caramels, and my daughter found a simple necklace in the jewelry section. I also bought 4 bingo prizes that were $10 and under. With limited gift shops in existence, I'm so happy Ostrom's is right down the street! read more

When I call in and explain an issue to one pharmacisty assistant they then transfer me to a pharmacist and then to a pharmacy intern who has no idea what she's doing. I had to explain to each of them the issue I'm dealing with, explain the issue all over again and again. The lack of respect and professionalism and care at this pharmacy is highly unprofessional and even dangerous if your dealing with a patient with advanced health issues. They don't take their role seriously. read more

Ostroms is 100% reliable. My prescriptions are mailed to me since I live out of town. If there is any question or issue, I receive a nice phone call to discuss the matter. They have been my pharmacy for about ten years now. They go out of their way to be helpful. I receive my prescriptions by mail very promptly. They are in Kenmore and I'm in Anacortes. Either it's the next day or the day after that. I am 86 and enjoy their congenial service. Years ago I used to live closer and loved visiting their gift shop with its unique selection of gifts and useful items for the household. You can earn points. Thank you, Ostroms! read more

My provider recommended Ostrom's because they carry a particular manufacturer's version of a generic drug. When I lived in Shoreline it wasn't a big deal to drive over there to pick up my Rx. However, I moved back to South Seattle. The folks at Ostrom's assured me that mailing my meds wouldn't be an issue. Things went ok for a while but then I think there was a lot of staff turnover or they just couldn't handle the increased demand for mailed meds during the pandemic. They raised their prices for shipping drugs and the letter they sent read like they didn't appreciate mail-order customers anymore. After that, most of my interactions with the staff were disappointing. There were delays in shipping my meds. When I used their app to contact them or to ask for refills, they'd often respond by text message outside of the app or by calling me during the workday when I couldn't answer. There was always some problem or information they needed that made using the app a useless, multi-step process. Then one of their packages arrived mangled. They had stuffed too many bottles into the package and the bottles had been crushed in the mail. Their response, when I let them know the meds were ruined, was accusatory and rude, "Okay we will replace them this time. If it happens again, we suggest not mailing them anymore." The next Rx wasn't processed when I contacted them through the app. They called me and left a vague voicemail saying there was "an issue". When I asked them about it through the app they told me they had called and left a voicemail but everything was fine now. Huh?? The next Rx was placed on hold for no discernible reason for days. When I asked about it they said they were just getting to it. The most recent experience is the deal breaker. They shipped a refill and apparently it was stolen in the mail. I sent a message asking about it and got a phone call. When I answered the woman was ridiculously rude and implied I had stolen my heart meds. As soon as I heard the tone of her voice, I started taking notes. "Listen, it says here it was delivered in person, but you know things happen -- maybe you'll find them -- maybe they'll come back to us. Your insurance replaces lost meds so I guess we have to send them. If this kind of thing happens again, we'll have to reconsider sending your medications. I'm going to send you a tracking number so we know when they arrive." Yeah, there isn't going to be a next time. Ostrom's, don't bother responding (even via text or a phone call.) read more

Unlike pharmacy chains, these folks seem nicely connected to the community, too. Ostroms has also been our go to place for vaccine shots and they bend over backwards to get your child in. Ostroms is everything you could want in a Drug & Gifts store. The pharmacy is efficient, meticulous, and works fast. They never loose RXs like the chain pharmacies do and they always take time to double check med dosages, interactions, or duplicate scripts. They also compound medications which is so helpful to have all my meds in one place. Drive thru is very quick and open 7 days a week. I am SO glad that my husband and I switched from a chain pharmacy to here. As far as the store goes they have a bit of everything -OTC meds, general toiletries, greeting cards, women's gifts, men's gifts, and a large selection of toys. I recently found out they do free gift wrapping and it's very nice gift bags not just cheap thin paper. I told my husband to buy as many gifts here so he doesn't have to wrap things himself. One thing I do find weird is that they strongly advertise viagra on their reader-board sign and in print ads. It just doesn't seem to me like they need to advertise this product nor does it encapsulate the vibe of the business. I really love Ostroms and hope they continue to flourish! read more

I've noticed they hired some young gals to work in the pharmacy - and oh boy do they have a lot to learn about customer service. Not only do they not smile at you they don't even say hello. I went to the counter today and the pharmacy intern just stared at me. I decided to also not smile or say hello and just gave her my name and date of birth. People who need medication rely on pharmacies to supply them. You cannot rely on Ostroms. They do not give you a straight, consistent story about their ability to get you the medication you need. I wasted several days while being told differing stories, only to be told at the end that they couldn't get it. Something I'm sure they knew to begin with. Also, they seem to be unwilling to get brand name medications. If you have problems with any generics, stay away. In fact, just stay away in general. If your doctor wants to send your prescription to Ostroms, ask them for an alternative. I will never give them my business again. read more

Went in to get my booster shot- sign states walk are welcome well expect to wait an hour before you can get a simple shot- I was asked to fill out my information via their app after enrolling I gave them my vaccine card, insurance card and ID i waited about 40 minutes and no one came out! There is a lot to like about Ostroms. I've been shopping there for many years and have used them almost exclusively as my pharmacy. My big gripe about them is their advertising campaign for erectile disfunction drugs and the outrageous prices that they charge for them. Ostroms advertises Tadalafil at $99 for (20) of the 20 mg tablets or $99 for (50) of the 5 mg tablets. Costco in Woodinville charges $22 for (30) of the 20 mg tablets and $9 for (30) of the 5 mg tablets. I don't need a spreadsheet to figure out where to purchase my ED drugs. Sure, Costco has more buying power than Ostroms and gets their drugs at rock bottom prices. But Ostroms is making big bucks on their ED profit margins and does not have the best interests of their customers in their pricing structures. The large and expensive ad campaign that they run tells you that they're getting a large return on their investment for the ED advertising. read more

I love Ostroms, especially at the holiday season. I've never used the pharmacy, so can't comment on that. It's the gift shop that keeps me coming back. So many unique finds! On this particular trip, it was stocking-stuffer heaven. I don't know how they find so many items that you just couldn't imagine but know that they just match the personality of the recipient. They have bath items (hand-created soaps), kitchen utensils (kids' chopsticks with animals at the top!), toys, desk/office supplies, lots of gift foods, decor, you name it. This is the best place to get drugs! I love the staff and they have some pretty awesome knicknacks. I can always find a gift for anyone, and I mean anyone here! Went in for Covid booster shots. Beautiful little store. Reminded me of drug stores from my childhood. They have a little but of everything in there, much not medical related. Great place. My problem is with the totally unprofessional pharmacist who dealt with us. We had made appointments a week prior. We were given very intrusive online forms to fill out. I was asked questions NO other pharmacy needed for Covid shots prior. When I got to them asking for my mother's maiden name I had had enough. I asked the lady dealing with us how to get around these intrusive questions and I was told to "make something up"! SO PROFESSIONAL! I told her I'm not a liar and that their online form was far too intrusive and that I was done. She said "fine" and I left. She had no issues with losing a customer. Clearly Ostroms doesn't need my business, so I'll go elsewhere. read more
